Jill pours a drink but puts it down to continue reading Kay’s letter. ‘Phillip loved you, only you’, it reads. Jill flashes back to a bitter argument with Kay (who slapped her) Emotional, Jill looks again at the portrait as Kay’s words echo – Phillip loved you, Jill.
Flipping through a photo album, Nikki avoids the question on how many times she’s been married. Agreeing that she likes photos of her Mom with her Dad, Faith loves the idea of Grandma scanning them so she can have them on her tablet. Tired, Nikki goes upstairs to sleep. Faith will be just fine with Christian – sleep as long as you need to.
At the GCAC, Nick compliments Chelsea’s dress and jokes about Chloe’s theory that the third date’s a milestone. I told her we’re low key – no pressure. Chelsea agrees – it’s just a night out. Both look awkward, the conversation is halted as they clink wine glasses.
Jill’s stunned by Kay’s written admission that she stopped Phillip from marrying her – and that she drove him away with her drinking. Flashback to a furious Kay telling Phillip that she’s tired of begging and bleeding. Yes, I’ll sign your damn papers!!
Nick and Chelsea are awkward – when did this get so hard? Clearly, the third date matters and we both know something’s going on here. Nick doesn’t want to screw up. Let’s trust our instincts, Chelsea suggests. After they toast again, Faith calls her Dad – something’s wrong with Grandma – come now! With a quick kiss and Chelsea’s blessing, Nick rushes out.
Bumping into Chloe and Bella at CL’s, Billy comments on how good Chloe is with her. We were lucky to have had Delia – Chloe won’t waste a second with Bella. Billy then mentions Johnny pushing a girl who kissed him – and that Jill’s surviving.
Jill weeps as she continues to read. Kay could not accept that Phillip truly loved Jill – but then time and sobriety helped us become our own strange little family. Peace with Jill allowed Kay to find happiness with Murphy. Hold on to love. Hold on to this. I never should have kept it from you. What is ‘it’? Jill wonders. Forgive me for keeping this and for taking Phillip from you (flashback to the accident that took Phillip’s life)
Chloe and Billy enjoy an animated chat about Delia – until both grow solemn. Billy would do anything to feel closer to Delia. Chloe would too.
Faith?! Nick shows up at the ranch. You’ll wake the baby, Nikki comes down the stairs and is surprised to hear that Faith called him. Faith appears to claim that she was worried because she couldn’t wake up her Grandma. I was just sleeping, Nikki must have been more exhausted than she thought. Let’s let your Father get back to his evening while we have hot chocolate. Nick tells Faith that he loves her. She’s sorry she panicked ~hug~ After Nick leaves, Nikki tells Faith that this can’t happen again.
Collin’s happy to see his appraiser pal back at the club. Tell me you have a solid buyer with deep pockets. I need this – everything’s riding on it.
Jill reads the end of Kay’s letter – Phillip loved you. You’re worthy of love Jill. Stop questioning it. Be happy. Find peace. Flashback to Kay’s final ‘goodnight’ to Jill before struggling up the stairs. Jill cries as the pages drop to the floor.
