Thursday, November 2nd (thanks Sue!)

The kids are full of regret and have learned their lesson; wishing they’d stayed home. Lily and Cane are not happy to hear that Reed got the key to Underground. Tom comes out to update that they’re trying to get Billy out. Phyllis sends a message – I’m gonna kill him if he doesn’t get out of there soon. He’ll be OK, she tries to convince herself. As Vikki’s telling Reed that it’s not his fault, Cane and Lily come over to explain how it is. As Victor and Nick bicker, Jack arrives to hear that they might have to call a surgeon in to amputate Billy’s leg to free him. All shake their heads sadly.

Phyllis is aghast – the only way Billy’s getting out is to amputate his leg? When Victor offers his resources, Jack says that won’t be necessary; HE has resources. Phyllis is left with Jack and Vikki to comment on this situation bringing them together. Aside, Victor and Nick argue (as he hints that he may have started the fire) while Jack demands to be allowed in to see his brother.

Tom! Tom! I missed you, Billy’s pleased to hear that they’re working on a plan to get him out – and to get a message from a hot blond; Phyllis. How’s she look? Like a walking fire hazard – she wants you out of this ashcan asap. What are the chances of that? Billy asks – don’t sugar coat it. There’s a good chance the building will collapse on us any moment, Tom reports.

Jack’s not grandstanding but he’ll take the risk to get his brother out. The fire chief might have to pull his men out soon; it’s unsafe. Not able to bribe his way in, Jack will have to be physically restrained to keep him out – you can’t keep me away from my family. Sure he and Billy fight but the Abbott’s face crisis together. With all the witnesses watching him being warned against it, Jack vows he won’t sue the fire department if things go bad. Nothing to say? Jack challenges Victor then leaves Phyllis and Vikki consoling one another.

Cane and Lily convince the kids to come home but not before they say a few supportive words to Reed. Mattie’s sorry she has to leave and with a hug asks Reed to update her. Aside, Victor comforts a stressed out Vikki – I’ll take care of everything; buy BnS with no strings attached. Thank you Dad, Vikki cries in his arms.

The sawing of debris sends dust down on Billy; who shouts for Tom to send messages to his loved ones. You’re not going to die – you have to deal with the ones you love face to face, Jack shouts from behind some beams. Jack!? I’m right here buddy, Jack reassures.

Jack climbs through an obstacle course to chat with Billy (who tells him to get out before he gets hurt) Jack reports that Phyllis and Vikki are out there holding hands; even Victor’s out there waving a blank check in front of the fire chief. Billy asks Jack for a favour – take care of Johnny and Katie if he doesn’t make it out. Say it – and get out. Your life will be easier without me. He then tells Jack that the face mask fiasco was his fault – he cut corners. Billy then apologizes for everything he’s done wrong; the way he got with Phyllis. I’ve done nothing to earn your forgiveness. You’re my brother – Jack wouldn’t have it any other way.

Now home, Lily hugs both Charlie and Mattie before sending them off to bed. Cane expects her to be mad but Lily now agrees that Reed’s a bad influence (I should have listened to you) Tonight puts things in perspective, they agree.

How will I live with myself if Billy doesn’t make it out? Reed mopes. Don’t be so hard on yourself, Victor replies as Billy hobbles out between Tom and Jack. Vikki’s look of relief turns to disappointment when Billy drapes himself over Phyllis.

As Nick moves in beside Vikki, Phyllis seems to be fake mad when telling Billy that he’s not in the clear with her – you’re a bastard, a damn lucky one.

At the Ashby home, Cane’s done some thinking. Lily has too – she’s glad they can put the pettiness behind them and pull together when they have to. It’ll make the divorce hearing easier. Cane hangs his head, visibly disappointed.

Vikki gives her Dad her decision; BnS are coming back to Newman. She then asks the crowd around Billy for a moment alone with him. Thanking him for saving Reed, she then slaps his face for causing the face mask fiasco – My Dad’s investigators found you out. You’re fired.

Next: It’s my duty as a journalist to report the facts, warts and all, Hilary tells Chelsea – who asks ‘is that a threat’? … This is the second hit this place has taken, Nick sadly tells Phyllis – maybe this is fate’s way of telling me to move on … Let’s do it, Abby grins with excitement. Do what? Zack asks. Live together.
