Cassie's Crash Course
I don't care what happens to that kid, Sharon snaps at Chris (upon hearing she's asking questions because she's Daniel's lawyer). Cassie was supposed to be going to the movies - but went to a party in the park, she explains. Now she's having brain surgery thanks to that kid. She has no memory - but it might come back. IF she recovers. Ally arrives and is introduced to Christine. She whimpers: if only we hadn't gone to that stupid party. Sharon goes to sign some paperwork: excuse me. Chris has questions. Ally bets Cassie will be grounded forever. She lied about where she was going. Don't tell Mrs Newman. She already knows, Chris confides. Ally's relieved. Cassie would want you to help Daniel - she has a major thing for the guy, and was trying to get him to notice her.
Dr Benson is one of the leading neurosurgeons, Vic introduces. Nick doesn't feel the doctors here are being candid. Immediate surgery was necessary Dr Benson opines. The surgery isn't the risk - it's the risk of infection - lets pray that doesn't happen. The doctors are competent and have been honest. They mentioned the possibility of infection? Only in passing, Nick scowls. The doctor explains the risk due to Cassie's injury. If infection sets in it'll do so rapidly - nothing we can do. You're telling me my little girl could die? I'm afraid so - but don't anticipate the worst - the next few days will give them a good idea, Dr Benson concludes before leaving. What do I do now? Nick thinks the others have a right to know that Cassie's condition could be worse than they thought. I think it's best not to say anything - not yet, Vic advises. Nick is grateful for his Dad's support.
After Nick and Sharon hug, Liv joins them. Yes - it's over. It was a complicated operation - but it went smoothly. Cassie's going back to ICU - then we pray for the best. You can wait in her room. Sharon hurries off. When Nick stays behind, liv asks if there's anything else. Damn right there is, Nick barks: There's something you're not telling us isn't there Olivia - the real threat to my daughter - the risk of infection - and how deadly it can be! We've taken every precaution - there are no guarantees, Liv admits. It's possible Cassie can die, but I believe..... Nick interrupts: I don't care that you withheld this information from my wife and mother - but from this point forward I want to know ANY detail - and sign of infection. Understand me? Liv does: I'll keep you informed.
Back in Cassie's room, Sharon smiles at the unconscious Cassie: She looks so peaceful. It'll be just fine she smiles at Cassie (sure the worst is behind them). In the background, Nick doesn't like quite as optimistic. Walkin' In A Winter's Wonderland
Getting home to find Lily not there, Neil and Dru hope she's not with Daniel. Malcolm has seen news of the accident on TV. The Winters go on a rant about Daniel: a bad seed. Lily was told to stay away from that that kid. You think that'll solve the problem? Malcolm chuckles - tell two teenagers to stay apart - you might as well tell the sun not to rise. The Winters defend their decision. He's being treated like an outcast, Malcolm points out: it could make him more attractive to Lily. Daniel will pay the price the rest of his life. The kid has enough on his plate - he doesn't need his friends turned against him. What he did was stupid. We were young and stupid once too. Putting your foot down will stop her from seeing him? You're wrong. Sorry - you're outside this situation, Neil reminds him. I'm not exactly outside on this - I care about Lily too, Malcolm answers. WE are the parents, Neil puffs his chest out. Malcolm DOES have a say, Dru agrees - he's her Uncle - you fought to get them back on track. Don't make me regret it Neil warns as he leaves. Now alone, Dru huffs and puffs: Thanks a lot! You practically accused us of poor parenting. Back off! I'll try, Malcolm agrees. No - you'll DO - for all our sakes, Dru orders.
At the park Daniel whines that he's stiff and sore - has headaches. Lily doesn't understand what happened. Daniel's trying to figure it out. He didn't know Cassie had a crush on him. I never gave her reason to think I was interested. I barely spoke to her. You didn't like a young girl worshipping the ground you walk on? Lily prods. Daniel's irritated: If that's what you think, I don't need you around either! I wouldn't touch that girl if I had a whole keg of beer. I warned her not to let you drive - she didn't listen, Lily responds: Why did you get in the car - death wish? When you're drunk you don't know what you're doing. You didn't do it on purpose. She's a sweet kid - I wouldn't hurt her, Daniel vows: Wish I could remember. Detective Webber thinks I'm lying. Yeah - it feels the whole world's against me, he agrees. Lily didn't mean to make things worse. Nothing could be worse than Cassie dying because of me - not even jail. Jail!? That's a possibility? Lily seems surprised. Yeah - a very real one. I could be arrested by the end of the day. I'm already facing a DUI. Malcolm happens by (out jogging). My life is over, Daniel pouts. Yeah - Malcolm knows what happened. Hey - you made a mistake. It won't disappear. Your mother will do whatever she can to get you out of this mess. Stay tough - stay clam. Let the lawyers do what they do. Daniel will go talk to Christine. You're a kid - it was an accident - believe everything will work out. I'm in your corner too, Lily assures. Thanks Lily - thanks. Daniel puts his glasses back on and saunters off.
Your parents are wondering where you are - worried about a certain gentleman - lo and behold - here you are, the two of you. Malcolm admires her loyalty. Take your little puppy dog eyes and go home. You won't tell them I was with Daniel? she pleads. Daniel who? he smiles as Lily heads off.
Fishing For Answers
Co-conspirators Gloria and Kevin arrive at Mike's office. What kind of name is Geeta anyway? She sure is hot though, Kevin lets slip. Mike shuts them up (take your mind numbing chit chat elsewhere). He knows he'll regret asking - but what kind of help do you need now? Filled in on Geeta, Mike agrees John needs a professional therapist. Listen to me this time. Gloria can't - Ashley told her all about my sons. They're using her as a wedge - it's a plan to get rid of me. Kevin nods agreement. I won't let this Scandenavian bombshell ruin my chances to get back with John. Maybe she's just after his money. Maybe hire Paul to investigate her, Kevin jokes. We HAVE to get rid of her. You two stooges take your plotting and planning elsewhere, Mike gripes as Kevin and Gloria exchange a few tongue in cheek ideas. Come on Kevin - your brother won't help us. Yeah , he's no fun, Kevin agrees. What if she manages to move into the house? Gloria worries. I don't have a minute to waste, she decides as they sweep out.
Back at the Abbott home, Geeta hands over a schedule of John's diet and exercise. You're a virile handsome specimen. Your family needs you to be strong. Yes - she IS looking forward to this. Are you up to the challenge? A smiling John doesn't think she'll give him much choice. He relays the story of his life - growing Jabot. Geeta shares that she was raised by her grandmother - a gypsy. She can't count how many different homes they had - Granny was quite a character - very superstitious. After she died, Geeta came to the U.S. to forget the mumbo jumbo. Geeta wants to be there every moment until he's healed - it's a long trip to the house. There's a bedroom available in the poolhouse - I could be available 24 hours a day. John agrees it's a splendid idea.
Over at the law firm, Chris goes to bounce ideas off Mike. What was Daniel doing in a car with a girl so much younger than him. She has a huge crush on him. Neither remember anything. Something doesn't add up. Daniel was drinking - Cassie gets in the car when she shouldn't have. Getting no answers, Chris lets him get back to work - and goes to bluntly confront Daniel: Were you having sex with Cassie Newman. No God No - No way! Daniel denies. I need to know everything this is to know about your relationship, Chris continues: there's something you're not telling me.
Girl Talk
Mac serves her Grandma iced tea - and relays her run in with JT's cup of hot tea. Where is Mr Hellstrum? He's away on business - I'm ticked off at him - about this girl Robin. He likes me more than her, but he won't admit it. Kay has a simple solution - you must leave. You're too available to him. Don't leave for good - just give him a chance to miss you. Move in with me. He'll realize how important you are to him. Mac's hesitant - it seems 'mean'. Kay disagrees - make him miss you. You'll notice a big difference. Mac's convinced. Pack your bags - and your laptop, Kay concludes: Let's see what the geriatric set is doing these days, she mutters to herself.
My Thoughts will return soon..... For those who were members of the message boards - and therefore, no doubt, a friend of 'Leafy's' - Amy Kay has created a very touching tribute. http://dump.grendosa.com/Leafy.wmv
Next: Today, this segment was replaced with a musical montage honouring William J Bell who passed away April 9th. (1927-2005). In a touching tribute, it showed him interacting with the cast or both Y&R and B&B as well as the many honours bestowed upon him. Ironically, the song used was Sarah McLaughlin's ' I Will Remember You' (which is the same achingly beautiful ballad used in the tribute to Leafy above).
