Girl Interrupted
On the CL's patio, Phyllis convinces Daniel that moving in with Chris is the right thing to do (and hanging out with Lily is NOT). Confirming that Dru doesn't know she's there, Lily is told this is the last time she'll be seeing Daniel - say your good byes.

While they do so, Phyllis is surprised when Jack shows up. Whining, she agrees she WILL get through in.

Back on the patio, Lily assures the hideaway idea is still a go. Daniel's grateful for her support - and agrees that the Abbott hideaway is his only option. He doesn't know what he'd do without her. While closing up, Malcolm chats - then grills Lily once Daniel leaves: something's going on. Maybe he doesn't want to face the music. That's ridiculous, Lily claims. Is it? Malcolm guesses he's going to run and hopes Lily doesn't plan on going with him. Lily denies Daniel plans to run. He's my friend - he needs someone by his side. People are suffering because of what he did - I won't let you be his next victim. Malcolm calls her back: look me in the eye and give me your word you won't leave. I won't let you mess up your life. Lily turns around - I promise I'm not leaving town. I will come find you, Malcolm warns. When did you start talking like Mom and Dad? Lily wonders. It's late. I'll give you a ride, Malcolm decides.Lily wonders when he started to sound like her parents - but accepts a ride home.

Arriving at the Abbott home, Daniel cowers behind Phyllis as the media fires questions - and snaps photos. Jack arrives on cue: Get out of here now. Yes - I'd like to make a statement. You're on private property. get out of here before I have you arrested! Jack shoos them away. Once Daniel's in bed, Jack comforts Phyllis: If he had his way, they'd take off on the Chancellor jet. Phyllis knows it's not possible (since Daniel can't leave town). Later, Jack promises: once everything is resolved.

Over at Memorial, the family all watch Cassie nervously. Sharon and Nick dab at Cassie's face with towels dipped in ice water to try keep the fever down. Opening her eyes, Cassie's told her Grandma Doris has come. Grandma, Cassie addresses her weakly - then Noah - I love you. Don't be afraid. You know about guardian angels. I'm yours - cause I'm your big sister. I'll always be looking out for you. Everyone stifles their tears. Vic looks around helplessly - then goes to ask Liv about the specialists. Cassie's fever isn't going down. That infection's taken hold - it's the battle we're fighting. She'll let them know when the specialists arrive (they're circling the airport right now - unable to land due to fog).

Back in Cassie's room, Cassie summons Aunt Vikki: I'm glad you're still here. Of course am sweetheart- I'm gonna stay and watch you get well. Cassie asks a favour: take care of Dad. Vikki sniffs: we'll all take care of Dad, you included.

We need more ice cubes, Sharon says frantically (noticing Cassie's temperature is going up). Dipping a rag in ice, Nikki takes over: hi cupcake. Is Victor here too? Cassie asks. Vic was remembering a moonlight horseback ride they took - the three of us. You gave me a present. Yes - we gave you a star, and you gave us one too. We will never, ever forget that night, they promise. When you're out of here, we'll all go again, Vic assures (as all look doubtful).

Liv asks Cassie if she's in any pain. If you need anything tell your parents and they'll page me. OK, Cassie answers weakly. Vic follows her out: the DR's from John Hopkins have arrived and are reviewing her charts. But her temperature is 105 - the infection is raging through her brain. She's not responding to the antibiotics. I'm sorry - I know you don't want to hear this but I don't know how much longer she's got. You may want to give her private time with her parents. Vic wipes his eyes: thank you. He goes back inside.

After Vikki shepherds Noah out, Vic sits on the edge of Cassie's bed: sleep well. Get some rest. He gives her a kiss on the forehead and takes a place beside Nick as Nikki takes her hand: God's watching out for you sweetie. Never forget. You'll always be my shining star. I love you Nikki - you too Victor. We love you too, Vic stoops down to tell her - then gently guides Nikki out (pausing only to hug Sharon). It's just us now, Cassie says - as Nick bites his trembling lip, Sharon nods.

Daniel -Daniel... Cassie begins. Shhhh - don't talk about Daniel. You've got to fight. I love you - so tired, Cassie responds: Don't leave. Nick promises they aren't going anywhere. We'll always be with you - and you with us, Sharon adds. The doctors have done everything they can - now, it's up to you. Hold on. Cassie doesn't think she can. They reminisce about when she came into their lives. Sharon lays on Cassie's bad - you were never a pain. Family's fight - but they love each other. We've cherished every moment, Nick agrees: you're such an amazing daughter - one of a kind. You'll have another little girl someday, Cassie whispers: I know it - one day. Cassie? I want to thank you - for everything you've given me, Sharon says: You've blessed my life just by being in it. There's no greater love than between parent and child. Nothing's ever going to change that. I love you both so much. They echo the sentiment. Daddy? Cassie whispers something in his ear. I'm so tired.... I need to rest. Nick sings in a choked voice: Lullaby and good night. Your mothers delight - shining angels beside - my darling lullaby. Soft and warm is your bed..Close your eyes - rest your head. They both choke up as Nick struggles to finish. Tears stream down his face. Flashback to Cassie giving them her framed painting - Kissing Millie - hugs for everyone throughout the years - child to young woman. The monitor then emits the dreaded flat beep. Sharon lays her head on Cassie Nick holds her hand to his face. She's gone.

Big Mac Attack
At the loft, Mac lays a kiss on JT (who's impressed: you've been holding out. There's a lot about you I don't know). Mac wants another chance. Someone has to take a leap of faith. WE have to figure it out. We? Yes, Mac repeats: unless you want me to go. JT smiles: You must be some glutton for punishment. Mac explains that an unlikely source told her she might be making a mistake - sabotaging myself by turning my back on you. JT got advice too - from her grandma. You pushed me in the pool! Mac whines: I must have looked lie a drowned rat. No - you didn't JT assures. I want to be here, Mac concludes: don't ask me to explain - it's what I want. JT agrees: I'm really glad you're back. Honestly? Honestly - it means a lot to me. Welcome home, he says with a hug.

My Thoughts
Today's show rates a 9.5 ... Not much can be said about today's show. In word: devastating.

For those who were members of the message boards - and therefore, no doubt, a friend of 'Leafy's' - Amy Kay has created a very touching tribute. http://dump.grendosa.com/Leafy.wmv . Just added: my own eulogy or sorts. My thoughts: From the heart - Leafy.

Next: Lauren confronts Paul (who's just stood up). I announce my engagement you can't get up from the table fast enough... Neil gives Lily the bad news: Cassie died last night...Phyllis assures Daniel that she will always stand by him.
