Disappearing Daniel
At the coffee house, Malcolm announces that he'll be driving Lily wherever she needs to go today. Daniel is now a fugitive - you have to feel the walls closing in. A scowling Lily huffs and puffs to no avail.
Pacing the law office, Phyllis complains to Mike: I was officially banned from my son's arraignment - I find that insulting. Mike has to agree - You're too emotional to be in a courtroom. Chris isn't back yet. I wonder what that means, Phyllis ponders. Judges don't take kindly to bail jumpers - especially when the charges are being upped to homicide, Mike points out. Phyllis flashes back to Daniel telling her not to blame herself (I love you). She'll be here, Mike assures as he rejoins Phyllis. But you're right - the hearing should have been short and sweet. Phyllis has been having unpleasant converstations with Daniel's father. He's furious - at me for letting this happen. I told him to stay put. Daniel knows his schedule and might go to Europe. Mike wishes she's stop with the self pity - it doesn't help Daniel. She should be worried about what's best for Daniel - getting him back here to face the charges. Phyllis insists she doesn't know where he is - and if she did, would do what it takes to get him back there. Would you? Mike asks doubtfully. The Judge will vacate the bond - then issue a bench warrant - with no bail. When Webber locates Daniel, he'll go to jail without bond - he'll sit in jail until his trial. The longer he stays away - the harder it'll be on him. He'll then also be charged with jumping bail. Phyllis again suggests Lily Winters knows where Daniel is. Wait a second - I'm going to go take care of something. Don't go do something crazy, Mike shouts as she exits.
At home, Nick updates Sharon on him confronting Chris and Phyllis (who's punk son has disappeared). Finding him is now Nick's number one priority. He won't escape justice - or me. I want to know about their relationhsip - how he convinced our intelligent daughter to get into the car when he was hammered. Now he claims they were only acquaintances. Nick WILL also find out what Cassie said to him in the hospital. Hank Webber arrives with bad news: Daniel didn't show for the hearing. The Judge has issued a warrant for his arrest. Nick wants him prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Hank mentions Cassie's crush on Daniel. We didn't know til after the accident. Talk to Lily Winters. They're tight. She defends him up and down - and can tell you where he is. Webber thanks them and leaves.
Malcolm continues his lecture: You're not dealing with reality - You're aiding and abetting a fugitive - charged with homicide. It'll be YOU before the Judge. Go grab your stuff - it's time for school. Lily has to go to the bathroom first. Webber saunters in: mind if I sit down? These are Lily's books - where is she? Ladies room - she'll be back in a minute. Send someone in to get her, Webber orders. Malcolm wants to know why. You're giving me a hard time. I'm just looking out for my neice. I want to talk to the young lady, Webber explains: We need to find Daniel. He didn't show up for court - go in that bathroom and get your niece. Malcolm gets up to go have someone check, and is soon told that there's nobody in the bathroom - nothing but a window wide open with the screen pushed out. Phyllis arrives to accost Malcolm: my son is in big trouble - your niece is in it with him. She's not just a niece to you - she could be in a lot of trouble. We have to find them before it's too late.
Lily races into the hideaway: Daniel! Daniel! She answers a call on her cell from Uncle Malcolm. I'm at school. I don't think so - where are you? Malcolm wants to know. Webber is here - this little game is over. They have a warrant. You have to talk Daniel into coming back to face the charges. This is not a joke. 15 minutes - get back over here. Yeah - I hear you, Lily hangs up and barks at Daniel: Get your things - we have to go! We have to get you out of here. It's your only choice. We'll take my car. They'll check the busses, trains - airports. Fine - you can get me out of town, Danile agrees, but then you're coming back. Hurry! Lily orders.
Sharon answers a knock at the door: Larry Warton. It's true? Little Cassie? No way. I can't believe this happened. I got messages form Jill and Nikki. Car wreck? Sharon explains she went to a party - this boy had been drinking. Larry doesn't need the details - if there's anything I can do.... What can anyone do? My little girl is gone - my heart has been ripped out. I've never felt this empty. I don't think time will take care of this one. Larry thinks that after a while the pain will wear off - the memories will be there every morning when you wake up and it won't hurt so bad. Sharon isn't so sure. Larry has an idea that might help - have you ever been on a motorcycle ride?
Now back, Sharon can see what people like about riding motorcycles. Cassie would have liked it - I think about all the experiences she'll miss. She had a good life - remember the joy you and Nick brought to her life, Larry says: It's not how long you live - but how well. You gave her love - a whole new life. She worshipped you. Really? Sharon looks up. Yeah - she and I had some talks. She worried when you were unhappy, Larry confides. Sharon thanks him through her tears. I haven't smiled in a long time. Thanks. We were so blessed to have her in our lives. She changed me, Larry states. She changed all of us huh? Sharon agrees. Larry tells her to call if she ever needs anything. Bless you, he says as she gives her a hug, then leaves. Sharon sits and as Larry's hawg pulls away, looks at a table top photo of Cassie.
Sugar Glazed Geeks
Mac accepts coffee from JT and admits she had a lot on her mind last night - and is still trying to sort things out. JT can't believe he's asking this - but do you want to talk about it? Mac is mourning Cassie's life being cut short - all the things she'll never do - or feel. When JT offers to whip up pancakes, Mac reminds she has leftover chocolate donuts - put em in the microwave for a few seconds. JT's amazed: how'd you know this? he chuckles. You were right - 8 seconds in the microwave and they're like fresh from the oven. JT feeds her a bite of his. Mmm - it's yummy. Yummy? Who says yummy? JT teases. Me - Yummy in the tummy, Mac answers. I don't have many good childhood memories but I remember that. No - she hasn't talked much to her Mom. Mac feeds him a bite of hers. JT jokes about her eating 18 donuts in one sitting. She apologizes for shutting him out the other day. JT understands - you didn't want anybody crowding you. You amaze me, Mac says - you are sensitive - but it'll be our little secret. Cross my heart. I'm glad I came back. JT's glad too (and gives her a passionate kiss to prove it). He pulls back: are you sure about this. I'm sure, Mac whispers.
Gettin' Steamed
Brit pays a visist to Nikki - to offer condolences and apologe for not attending Cassie's service. Nikki pours her water - and relays how excited Bobby is about the baby. It's a boy, Brit blurts out - what Bobby wants more than anything. Nikki understands: because of Joshua. You'll be a wonderful mother, she gushes. Ever find out who sent the mystery presents? No - and two more arrived, Brit says: Bobby thinks it a coincidence. He likes his new job - and all the women are crazy about him. 6 months ago I'd be insecure - but now... I have something Bobby wants more than anything - why should I be worried? I just wanted to come by and let you know I was thinking of you - and the family. Nikki sees Brit out - take care of the little one. Having waited outside, a man watches Brit leave - then gives Nikki a bouquet of flowers. Nikki frowns questioningly at the card: From your friends at Pasco Incorporated.
Brit stops by the club bar to chat with Bobby: I'm fine, she insists. You need a strawberry, banana protein shake, he thinks. Don't tell me not to worry. I just came from seeing Nikki - does THAT answer your question? Brit explains. It's so horribly sad. Bobby's sure her visit meant a lot to Nikki. I'm sure you can't help but think about the accident. Sometimes bad things happen - you can't let it get to you. Hovering nearby, the same guy has another large bouquet to be delivered. He ducks out of sight as Bobby rounds the bar to hug Brit - promising to keep her safe.
My Thoughts
Today's show rates a 7.5 ... If everyone's so certain that Lily is in contact with Daniel, why not just follow her until she leads them to him? ... Once the Abbott's know that their hideaway is the worst kept secret in GC - home to any kids in need of a place to hide - or make out, you'd think they'd either redo it and make use of it - or level it .... And how will the Abbott's feel about hiring Lily as a Glow model once they learn she's been hiding fugitives on their property? ... Funny that Lily and Kevin haven't bumped into one another - given the frequency both are coming and going from the Abbott property .... Danny sure has some nerve to blame Phyllis for Daniel's troubles - he takes sole custody, then dumps the kid in boarding school - and now he's too busy touring with the other has-beens to come show some support for his son? ... Nice to see Larry again - and I'm sure Sharon appreciated having a man to hold on to (cause we all know what happens when she starts feeling empty and unfulfilled) - funny that she didn't have helmet head after the ride... Why is the mob sending Nikki flowers now? Get on with it already.. I wonder if Bobby will live long enough to se his his son - and if he dies beforehand, will Brit name the baby after him instead of Joshua? ... I can't believe how much time was wasted today watching Mac and JT discuss donuts - Again, get on with it already.
Next: Mike tells the dressed up Tom: you should be on your way real soon.. Tom grins back: I don't think so ....Where is Lily? Phyllis snaps (Maclolm doesn't know). I don't want to hear that...Mac/JT...
For those who were members of the message boards - and therefore, no doubt, a friend of 'Leafy's' - Amy Kay has created a very touching tribute. http://dump.grendosa.com/Leafy.wmv . Just added: my own eulogy or sorts. My thoughts: From the heart - Leafy.
