Coward Of The County
Arriving at the coffee house, Dru and Neil don't see the kids - and Dylan reports Maclolm's not around either. Devon arrives and states he hasn't seen Lily since breakfast. When Malcolm arrives, and is questioned, he has no choce but to fess up that she's gone: Daniel was hiding in some storage shed on the Abbott property - they're miles away. Why didn't you call the police!? the angry Winter's shout. They're further infuriated to hear Phyllis and JT knew they were missing. Phyllis is just as shaken up - she's a mess, Malcolm explains. That heifer will get no sympathy from me, Dru snaps. Malcolm points out that Daniel didn't force her - Lily was bringing him food. She confided in me. I made a promise - she trusted me. WE trusted you, they remind. A sheepish Malcolm thought he was doing the right thing. Neil lashes out: You don't throw common sense out the window. I pleaded with her, Malcolm says. You're her Uncle - her little buddy, Neil puts him in his place: You don't know the first thing about being a parent. You're so desperate to be her friend. I'm gonna call Webber. Give him a description of Lily's car. Devon - go home. I'll be there in a while. As Neil makes the call, Dru vents some more on Malcolm: You were trying to buy Lily's love. Her REAL father would sacrifice that love to save his child. I'm not angry - I'm mad. You put your selfish agenda first - what will happen to Lily?
Lily lies to the manager - sure, she's 18 - and on her way to a graduation. Just needs to rest for the night. Warning her not to drink the water, the manager leaves her to look around in dismay. Daniel soon joins her to look around the dingy motel room: This sure ain't the Ritz, he jokes lamely as he complains about the crook in his neck. He praises the clever Lily for parking behind a dumpster, but notices she's quiet: Rest up - then go back to town, he insists. As much as I love having you with me - go back in the morning. She refuses. What about clothes? School? Her parents? Daniel would rather have the cops after him than her Mom. I'm the one who's in trouble, not you. Lily knows it was a tragic accident. You're trying to protect me - but I'm a big girl, she whines. Give up - like it or not, you're stuck with me. He gives her a hug.
This place is straight out of Psycho (wielding an imaginary knife, he mimes the infamous shower scene). Let's just watch some TV. We may be on the news, he warns as he tries to dial in the TV - and pulls the knob off. Come and sing me a song, Lily coaxes. He joins her on the bed which immediately collapses. Daniel laughs heartily: you gotta be kidding me.
Daniel announces he pulled all the money he could from the ATM - in the morning we should change the license plates on the car and head West. Did you hear me? Lily's fast asleep. He covers her up and gives her a little kiss good night, then with a heavy heart, sits in a chair to watch her.
The Job Hunt
Stopping by Nick and Sharon's, Nikki finds Vikki cleaning up - and hears Daniel's taken off (but Nick's putting some of his anger behind him). They've taken Noah for ice cream. Jack calls and asks to meet Vikki in his old office. Hanging up, both mother and daughter wonder what he wants.
Nikki updates Vic with good news that Nick and Sharon took Noah out for ice cream - Vikki thinks Nick's doing better - she's really been there for him. I have an idea regarding her future. Use your connections to get her a job - not at NE - she's not interested in working for Nick. She's a gifted business woman, Vic's sure he could get her a job. But she really wants to run NE with her brother - everything else will pale in comparison. Vic still wants them to run the company together. Nick DID make a confession - asked me to take over temporarily. But, he WILL look for something for Victoria. Soon, Nikki nags: I don't want to lose her. When Vic guesses something is going on, Nikki adds that Vikki got a call from Jack - it's possible he's offering her a job.Vic will do everything in his power to get her a job - she'll have a great sense of loyalty to us (after Cassie's death). But she's feeling vulnerable, Nikki points out, Jack will take advantage of that. Then, he'll have to deal with me, Vic growls. Jack has an offer for Vikki: How'd you like to be second in command at Jabot? Yup - he's serious as a heart attack. Jill's no longer a problem. Jack would like her to be a 'buffer' for Jill. You want us to wrestle like a couple of mud wrestlers, Vikki guesses. She won't feel threatened? Vikki doesn't like the thought of taking orders from Jill. It's the perfect fit - the opportunity of a lifetime, Jack insists.
Vikki's not sure she can work for Jill Abbott. She's more personable - she and Ash even work well together, Jack coerces. Would I have authority? she wonders. Jack assures she will. But Jill would have final say? Vikki continues. SHE answers to ME, he reminds. You need a challenge. Good news - you'd have more time with me. How could you turn down such a sterling offer? He smiles. Think about it for a couple of hours, then call me to say Yes. I'm offering the moon on a silver platter.
Groveling Gloria
Lacing John's drink while he pays the tab, Gloria looks forward to a hot night in the Abbott mansion. Rejoining her, John's prodded into drinking some. He kind of IS in a hurry to get home. Gloria readily agrees.
Home sweet home - Honey are you in pain? Gloria fusses as she leads John in. Clearly in pain, John admits his hip really tightens up at night. Gloria will give him a massage with the special cream. John fears he'll have to postpone the evening. No John - I'm feeling close to you right now, Gloria whines - as John grimaces in pain. With candles all about, Gloria lays John down to get rid of the stiffness. She rubs his leg - thank heavens the only fake part is your hip. We'll have to make do. John's sorry he's in a lousy mood - you've been so terrific. Let's get you out of these clothes - it's time for your massage, Gloria begins to unbutton. Yes - I want to pamper you my darling.
That's wonderful, John groans as he's laying face down on the massage table. Massaging is one of your hidden talents. I've missed you John, Gloria purrs: Come on - roll over. Time to do the other side. He rolls over: all this for a bad hip? Uh huh - I'm just getting started - I want to treat you head to toe - enjoy. My goodness - I think somebody's starting to feel a whole lot better, Gloria grins - and as she gives him a kiss, John reaches up to wrap his arms around her.
Likey
Arriving back in town from her business trip, Lauren order soem take out from Gina - and comments that she hasn't even had a chance to call her fiance. Gina lets her know that Mike missed her - he was at the club a lot. Yes, alone.
Mikey arrives and giving Lauren a kiss, wonders why she didn't let him know she was in town. My cell battery died, Lauren explains. Oh, says Mike with a kiss. I missed you a lot. How was your trip? It was hectic - I'm really worn out. She's horrified to hear Tom's still in town. Mike then notices she doesn't have her ring on - and calls her on it. I didn't want my West coast friends to make a fuss - ask questions, Lauren explains. You'd tell me if you were having doubts, Mike hopes. They thrive on gossip - it would have turned into a media event, Lauren adds. Mike has to wonder - ARE you having second thoughts? Lauren has NO doubt - she's just worn out from her trip. Gina delivers her take out. Take me home, and I'll share, she invites. Mike doesn't want her keeping anything from him - You were eager for people to know before. She allows Mike to pay - since we're almost an old married couple. Kissin' Ash's @ss
Still at the club, Ash is taken aback by Tom's hostile reaction to find her with his ringing cell phone (which she planned to hand to him). Don't know why you had to be such a jerk about it, she grumbles.Tom admits he's a hothead - and is trying to change. Seeing you with my phone threw me off. It's almost as if you have something to hide, Ash comments: I don't know anything about you - who are you Tom? Is that even your first name. I'm Tom Callahan from Michigan - in high school I played baseball when I wasn't chasing girls or smelt fishing - I'm an open book. Ash doubts that. She likes that he was different - but now she's not so sure. When Tom asks for another chance, Ash doesn't think so. Tom claims he's just not used to being with a woman of her caliber. Doesn't explain why you freaked out, Ash replies. He's doing a business thing - it's at a crucial stage. Tom doesn't want her to be afraid of him. No - I'm embarrassed for you, Ash corrects. Tom understands: give me a chance. Let me buy you dinner. Ash wants to go home - it's late. Plus, I didn't like your tone. It won't happen again, Tom promises. Ash agrees to dinner - next time will be the last time. Tom sends her off for a shower - he'll take care of everything. Ash agrees - but you are forewarned. Once alone, Tom looks worried; oh man. Missing Mike and Lauren by seconds, he asks Gina for a favour - fast.
A freshly showered Ash joins Tom at the table. I got you these flowers to apologize for being a jerk, he says humbly: Woman like you deserves extra effort. Please, sit down. I went ahead and ordered lobster. Ash wonders how she knew it was her favourite. He raises a glass of champagne to toast their friendship. It will never happen again - you have my word. Ash pick her glass and tries to smile.
My Thoughts
Today's show rates a lowly 7 ...Somewhat of a yawn - and anyone under the age of say 30 will cringe at the sight of Gloria molesting old man Abbott as he grimaces in pain ... and I'm guessing viewers Daniel's and Lily's age have NO clue about the shower scene from Psycho .... I'm still disappointed that he hasn't decided to stand up and take responsibility for his actions - accident or not.... Lily thinks she'll just wear some of Daniel's things? He didn't exactly take a whole lot - and he hasn't seen water in days... If Vikki's such an awesome businesswoman, let her get her OWN job - why does her Daddy have to pound the pavement for her? .... I think Jack's stretching it a bit in saying Jill and Ashley are working well together - they've only had one civil conversation.. As odd a paring as Ashley and Terrible Tom are, I look forward to seeing her dumped - hard... We'll see who's the embarrassed one.
Next: .......Nick tells Chris that if Daniel won't come home to face the music, he'll take the music to him... A devastated Phyllis tells Jack she hopes Daniel runs far away...Vic wonders why Vikki would think he'd be upset at what she has to say. Because it has to do with Jack, Vikki replies.
