The Abbott Motel
Now morning, Phyllis can't eat - and didn't get much sleep either (thanks to nightmares about Daniel behind bars). She feels helpless and knows her dreams will come true - Daniel WILL go to jail - it's only a matter of when. Jack can't believe he was in the gardner's shed that whole time. If only they knew... Knowing it's wrong, Phyllis still hopes Daniel runs far - and has a happy life. Jack doubts he will - he's on the run; a fugitive.
Coming in to report there are police on the property, Ash is updated on Daniel's situation. They worry about John's reaction - but he has other things on his mind. His bedroom door's locked. Oh no! Further discussion is derailed when Jack needs to talk business; he's offered Vikki a job. Jill's fine with it - and Vic's reaction is not a concern for Jack (who's off to work out). Ash is off to the lab - but doubts Vikki will be working at Jabot.
Walkin' In A Winters Wonderland
Dru has no luck in calling the parents of Lily's friends - and, in tears, wonders how Neil can be so calm.
When Malcolm arrives, she gives him the cold shoulder - No. Lily hasn't been found. NOW you want to look for her? she says in an accusing tone.
After a tongue lashing from both Neil and Dru, Malcolm is shown the door - where they find Detective Webber. Once updated (that no one has heard anything) Hank's not overly concerned. Runaways usually turn up. Not good enough for the Winters. Neil fills him in that Malcolm knew Lily was helping Daniel. Malcolm whines that he didn't think she'd take off. When Malcolm also suggest they'll turn themselves in, Neil blasts that it's easy for him to say: she's not your daughter. Tired of waiting around, Dru heads out to look (with Malcolm in tow). Find my baby! she orders.
Dru makes a beeline to confront Phyllis at the Abbott mansion. Phyllis denies knowing Daniel was on the property - and believes Lily shares the blame (as she refused to share Daniel's whereabouts). Dru sees Phyllis and Daniel are cut from the same cloth: Dishonest, despicable -lowdown. You're a sorry excuse for a parent. Your mother of the year? You ever asked yourself why your daughter wants to run away? To get away from you? Truth hurts doesn't it? Ashley breaks it up and asks Dru to leave. On cue, Dru gets a call: Ok - when. I'm on my way. She hurries out - leaving Phyllis and Ashley wondering.
After a not so good nights rest (which Daniel spent on the floor), Daniel pops out to the local coffee shop. Lily can't reply to the messages her Mom's left on her cell - but does call someone....
Lily asks Devon to assure her parents that she's OK. Devon implores Lily to come back - let Daniel run off on his own. Lily can't say where she is and hangs up asking Devon not to tell anyone that she called.
Daniel returns with coffee and a blueberry muffin. Lily? You OK? Yeah, she says unconvincingly - then admits she's thinking how hard this must be on her Mom and Dad - but No, she's not going home. The police are looking for them and they know about the hideaway. How's they know that? Daniel wonders. I had to call someone - Devon, Lily admits. I made him promise not to tell. I know I shouldn't have called. You sure we can trust him? Daniel worries the call could have been traced. At the coffee house, Devon continues to confide in Sierra that things are weird at the Winter's home with Lily gone - he's thinking about his mother - I told everyone I don't know where she is - but I have an idea. Yeah, she was a crackhead - who knows what she is today. I figured I'd see her again one day. But if something happened to her or me, I'd never get that chance. Sierra suggests he look for her. She'd tell me to get lost, he guesses. If she wanted to see me, she'd be looking for me. Neil arrives and asks if anyone's heard from Lily - what about YOU Devon?? Dragged over to the counter, Devon admits she called a few minutes ago. I wasn't planning on telling - she made me promise not to. She sounded all right. Young man - it may be possible to trace this call, Neil confiscates his cell: Thanks for being honest. But I'm disappointed in you son. You should have told me immediately. No matter what I do, someone's always mad at me, Devon goes back to Sierra to gripe. Soon after, he's confronted by a livid Dru, who demands Devon tell her everything - and don't lie! Devon takes exception: Don't get mad at me for something I didn't do.
I'll Bore You With More
Chris surprises Nick by dropping by. She's always bee a good friend to the Newman family - and Nick understands she's just doing her job. Daniel won't get off scott free, Chris assures Nick, but it's my job to get him a short sentence - hopefully a year. A year!? Nick balks. To a teenager it's an eternity, Chris stresses: We don't live in an eye for an eye society. Nick can't apologize for how he feels - Daniel took a life, he must pay. I'm counting on you - if he's not here tomorrow morning - all bets are off. I'm putting all the Newman resources on this. If he won't come back to face the music, I'll bring the music to him. If you find him call me - so we can go through proper legal channels, Chris requests. Sorry - Nick can't make that promise.
Also at the club, Vikki is glad to be having breakfast alone with her Dad - as she has something to say that may upset him. Jack's offered me a job at Jabot - I hope you won't sabotage it this time. Vic drops one on her: how about running NE until Nick's ready to come back to work? Do it for your family, he persuades. Not so sure, he knows what he's doing, she asks him to speak to Nick about it first. Vic assures he does know what he's doing.
Knowing Gina is Daniel's only other family in town, Malcolm stops by the club to see if she's seen him. Gina is horrified to hear he and Lily have run off - I'll keep my eyes and ears open and let you know. He spots Vikki looking glum and joins her: so, the rumours are true. Malcolm! It's good to see you again, Vikki gives him a hug. God brought you back to us - like a miracle, she hugs him again. He explains: my niece, Lily, took off with someone you don't like very much; Daniel. I hope you find her, Vikki encourages, we don't need another tragedy. Good luck - keep me posted. I will - good to see you. Malcolm leaves.
Jack finds Vic punching the bag at the gym - and tells him that his family has been in his thought and prayers. Vic calls him on offering Vikki a job (You don't see me offering Ashley a job at Jabot). Jack replies with confidence: She likes her job. You can have Bradley. Jack's now on the treadmill: Can I deduce from your attitude that Vikki plans to accept my offer? Play second fiddle to Jill Abbott? Vic scoffs. She's more than welcome in MY family company - too bad you can't say the same thing, Jack needles. After Vic walks off without further word, Jack stops the treadmill and calls Justin: Jill in yet? Give her a message. Just had a run in with Victor. I got Vikki on the hook and halfway in the boat.
Back at the motel room, Daniel thinks they should hit the road again. You're mad because I called Devon, Lily guesses. Daniel's pessimistic: You don't have to come with me - it'd be better if you didn't. We'll run out of money soon - this is life, not a game - and it'll probably be forever. Lily takes his hands and looks into his eyes: when do we leave? You need me and I need you. Daniel hates messing up her life - but I don't know what I'd do without you, he says with a kiss.
Back home, Phyllis accepts a comforting hug from Jack: Wherever my son is, I hope he's safe - and that he sends Lily Winters home soon.
My Thoughts
Today's show rates an 8... Presumably, the motel room has a shower - so why does Daniel still look so dirty and unkept?.. Good thing they didn't check into that same motel that Sharon met (and killed) Cameron at - that desk clerk was beyond nosy ... And unless it's the same motel that Phyllis and Damon killed Hughes at, there are an AWFUL lot of seedy and dangerous motels within GC ... If the thought of Daddy having sex with his wife troubles the kiddies, Jack and Ashley need to move out ... Dru should really keep her mouth shut when commenting on Phyllis' parenting skills (as SHE too lied about her child's paternity - the main reason Phyllis lost custody).. It seems THEY are cut from the same cloth ... And it's pretty telling that Devon is thinking about his crackhead Mama (who I'm guessing will have straightened up - and be more than eager for a relationship with her son) .... Nick's gonna send all the Newman resources out after Daniel - - Ohhhh - and who's that? One Paul Williams and his trusty Robin, JT? Puh-lease. Though it would be interesting to see how Chris likes being kept in the dark (like Paul's always doing to Mike).
Next: Who do you want me to track? Kevin asks Phyllis. Daniel and Lily, she answers... Maps in hand, Lily jumps onto the bed. There are lots of cool places we can go.... How are things between you and Nicholas? Vic asks. It's really hard right now, Sharon admits. ...

For those who were members of the message boards - and therefore, no doubt, a friend of 'Leafy's' - Amy Kay has created a very touching tribute. http://dump.grendosa.com/Leafy.wmv . Just added: my own eulogy or sorts. My thoughts: From the heart - Leafy.
