Good Grief
At the ranch, Vic enjoyed his ride - and thanks Nikki for supporting (and even suggesting) Abby's visit. Glad she could give you what you needed, Nikki smiles. What do YOU need? Vic asks. Nikki's fine - but disappointed to hear Nick left Sharon is such a fragile state. Perhaps he's running away from dealing with everything. Vic worries about HER - you've taken care of everyone else. Have you had time to grieve? You don't have to be stoic for me. Encouraged to discuss Cassie, Nikki recalls how excited she was to be a junior bridesmaid at their wedding. Vic grabs the album and flips to a photo as Nikki continues: I remember she said she wanted her wedding to be as beautiful as ours. But she'll never be a bride. Nick will never walk her down the aisle - Sharon will never help her find that perfect dress. Nikki dissolves into tears as she leans on Vic: I can't believe I'll never help her with homework - or joke - laugh at silly things. I'll never help her set the table again. Never hold or kiss her again. Sweet Cassie, Nikki finally lets it all out - sobbing in Vic's arms. Composing herself, Nikki thanks Vic - but very worried about Nick and Sharon's marriage - it's up to us to hold the family together.
It's A Zoo In Here
Sharon enters the club, and chats with Abby (who's there eating breakfast with her Dad) I hope you'll visit the ranch again, she smiles. Brad didn't even realize they crossed paths. Gina comes down to whisk Abby off to the playroom. Sharon sits down as invited and explains that Miguel brought her by. Things are rough - but Sharon's decided to take his advice and try and get back to normal. She worked out this morning - and promised I wouldn't cry today (on cue, her eyes well up). She updates him that Nick's off on a quest for revenge - leaving us to fend for ourselves. It's his way of grieving. Anger is one of the stages. I'm worried he might take things too far. Not sure if I'm more worried what will happen if he doesn't find him - or if he DOES. I feel like I'm drowning - can't even breath. I wish I were under the covers right now. When Gina brings Abby, she tells Sharon that she and Daddy are off to the zoo - hey - you want to come too? It's Ok to invite her, isn't it? Great, Brad agrees - why don't you bring Noah? Yeah - maybe the zoo is exactly what I need, Sharon agrees.
At the bar, Bobby pesters Brit to drink the glass of milk she's brooding over. Vinnie marches over - Bob's just watching out for ya - Wouldn't want anything bad to happen. Vinnie - you're not welcome here, Bobby glares. Brit, however's the one who leaves (reminded she has a doctor's appointment. I can handle it, Bobby assures her. Like you handled that gift I got ya? Vinnie taunts. He's not going anywhere til he hears Bobby's back in the fold - or do I need to send another gift? Take your threats and ultimatums and shove em, Bobby scowls: I don't want my son brought up in that life. Then cooperate - give him all the things you never had growing up, Vinnie persuades. Bobby declines the dirty money. Fine - look over your shoulder - wonder if your wife and kid are OK. If you'll ever see them. You'll burn in hell one day, Bobby says as he gives in: I guess I have no choice. Yeah, I'm in. Only til you're paid off. No rough stuff. Why me? he has to ask. You have a legit job, Vinnie explains: the clientele this club attracts - they trust you. Filthy rich. Bobby won't mess with them - I mean it. Mix us a couple of Bloody Mary's, Vinnie orders. Drinking at 9 in the morning, Bobby tuts - Drink it and go. Vinnie raises his glass: To you, my friend - welcome back to the family. What's she doing back? Bobby wonders as Brit walks in. I need to talk to you, she says quickly. I'm in the middle of something, Bobby points out. Is it about the appointment? Something wrong with the baby? We need to talk NOW, Brit insists as Bobby follows. Gina swoops in on Vinnie: You're not a member are you? No - he's not - but he does know she makes the best Italian food in town - Bobby's a friend of mine. Where is he? Over there - with the Mrs, Vinnie nods. All heads turn as Bobby suddenly shouts: What!? What did you say?! How could you do this to me!? Get out! He angrily smashes a glass against the fireplace: Get out now! Brit covers her face to protect herself, then runs out. Amongst the onlookers, Brad tightens his grip on Abby - he, Sharon, Gina and Vinnie look shocked - Bobby looks devastated.
What Goes Up Must Come Crashing Down
Having brought a healthy breakfast to the loft, Ester expresses disapproval as Mac and Kay munch on the donuts JT left. Call me when you're ready to be picked up, she sighs as she leaves. JT this and that, Kay wonders if there's something dear old Granny should know. We're finally a couple, Mac smiles. Kay congratulates her - you sure he's on the same page? Mac nods - she's happier than she even imagined - and credits her (and even Jill's) advice. I feel incredibly lucky - he's so talented. He wrote me a song - so beautiful, I almost cried. Everything is different now. Everything is a first for us. Isn't it exciting? I can hardly wait, she gushes. Kay tells her to hang onto these feelings as long as she possibly can. Mac has a hard time trusting - Daniel and Kevin both lied. I know everything about JT - he has no secrets - he keeps everything simple. He might be the one. It feels so right. He feels the same way - as much as he tries to deny it. He's in it for the long haul - I'm excited about the future.
All In The Family
Joining Ash in the living room, Gloria announces that John's still upstairs - he's worn out, she adds. Spare me the details, Ash interjects: I've barely seen him the past few days. Gloria believes that's HER fault (You and your brother have made it clear you don't want us back together - He'd rather not hear it). You're telling me my father is dodging me? Ash is surprised. He's made his choice, Gloria confirms, you'll have to get used to it - and apologize for the way you've treated me. Ash refuses - my suspicions were confirmed when the truth came out. John arrives with hopes they aren't fighting. Gloria claims they're coming to an understanding (aren't we Ash) - I'm going to go help my son Michael plan his wedding. You, my darling, have a wonderful day, Gloria tells John (who tells her to have a nice time).
John wonders what they were discussing. Have you been avoiding me lately? Ash asks. Avoid you? Why would I do that? John asks: I confront problems head on. Ashley will keep her mouth shut about his marriage -if she makes you happy, that's good enough for me. Since the secret's out in the open, how you handle it is up to you. John thinks that big of her - we're not on solid ground. But life is precious and it can be short. I can't deny the spirit and joy Gloria brings to my life. Then hold onto whatever happiness you can, Ash says as she hugs him: I love you too Dad. I was trying to protect you. John feels it more his job to protect HER - then asks her about who she met at the club the other day? Ash met an interesting man - I think he's pretty harmless - new in town - not my usual type. Invite him over so I can meet him, John prods. I'm not in high school, Ash reminds - but will if it goes any further (which I don't think it will). John wants to put this guy on notice to treat his little girl right - or he'll answer to me.
Motel Mayhem
Having spent the night in a chair at the motel, Phyllis awakens to hear Nick hasn't heard anything from the kids (but has been watching for them all night). I've already searched the room - the battery on the cell's about to die. Nick plans to get in the car and start driving - you got a better idea? Yeah, she does - go home and be with your wife and son. Nick guesses if she gets to Daniel first, she'll make sure he escapes the country - and If YOU get to him first, you'll have a shotgun. Nick finds it interesting that she'd suggest murder first - must run in the family. Nick expresses what it's like to helplessly watch the life of his child slip away, Phyllis joins him at the window - I'm sorry - so, sorry. Acknowledge that both of us are going through the same thing - we'll find him quicker together. Nick has no problem with that. We can be allies - but the minute we find him, all bets are off.
Malcolm walks into the apartment to find Dru loudly lecturing Devon (who doesn't see the big deal in him leaving a note, going out and returning before curfew). With the threat of a summer long grounding ringing in his ears, 'Mr Man' retreats to his room. Do you know anything about Lily? Dru asks Malcolm - That's all I care about right now. I can't eat or sleep - you'd be stressed too if you were in my shoes. I AM in your shoes, he reminds. No - I was the one who raised her - I feel helpless, Dru cries. I want to know she's eating - sleeping - what if this boy leaves her. Malcolm holds her as she cries. Back at the motel, Phyllis finds a crumpled piece of paper - with a phone number on it. She not so discreetly pockets it and decides she needs to go for a pop. What do you want? Nick guesses something is going on. Did you find something while I was on the phone?? I can see you're holding out on me? What's in your hand? Lemme see it. Nick uncrumples it - so much for being on the same side. I was going to tell you, Phyllis lies, as Nick calls the number and learns it's the bus station. As they prepare to leave, Phyllis answers the cell - and gets an earful of Dru: You've got to come home. Phyllis quickly identifies herself: Lily's not here - they're missing. This cell is all we found - it's about to die. We're in St Louis. You're breaking up... I can't hear you. How did you know to look for them there? Dru wants to know as the line goes dead: Phyllis! Damn you!
My Thoughts
Today's show rates a 9... Mac's 'never been more certain of anything in her life' (as she is in JT's commitment to her) - She's doomed .... clearly Brit has confessed to Bobby that he's not the baby's father - JT is! Nothing like delivering the news at your place of business - in front of your boss no less. Bobby looked angry enough to smack her one. He was far from being in control - but he didn't completely lose control either - so maybe it wasn't a bad idea Brit told him in public... Too bad Mr Hodges didn't get to see Kitten coming clean - like mother, like daughter huh? ... Sure puts Gina in a dilemma though - I'm pretty sure Bobby's outburst is against some staff regulations. There goes that employee of the month award ... Wonder why Gina wasn't more welcoming to Vinnie. She can't have good man-instincts (or she would have picked up on Terrible Tom - who she practically salivated over upon first sight). You'd think that when a hot Italian male showed up, she'd have rolled out the red carpet (or some lasagna).... Wasn't there a big, huge deal about the media being kept away from Daniel - isn't that why he was to move in with Chris? So - why aren't the media involved in the search at all? Why aren't they tailing Phyllis and Nick? A photo of them leaving the motel room together would have been quite a scoop ... Nikki? 'stoic'? That's like calling John 'studly'.
Next: Nick thinks it time Phyllis went home: From this point on, I do this alone... This better be life or death, JT tells Brit. It is, she assures him .... No need to get physical, Vinnie says (as Bobby gives him a shove across the bar) .... Is everything all right? Nikki says with a raised eyebrow as she looks from Vinnie to Bobby.

For those who were members of the message boards - and therefore, no doubt, a friend of 'Leafy's' - Amy Kay has created a very touching tribute. http://dump.grendosa.com/Leafy.wmv . Just added: my own eulogy or sorts. My thoughts: From the heart - Leafy.
