Motorcycle Mama
Still at the law firm, Mike and Kevin worry over what Tom has on their mother. I don't know, Mike looks worried yet determined - but I plan to find out - and put a stop to it. They wonder who in the Abbott family Tom has managed to charm - and how long he's been watching Gloria. Getting an idea, but not sharing it Mike hurries out, agreeing to tell Kevin when he knows something.
So, how do you like motorcycles? Tom asks as he chases her to her front door. Fun, exciting, she answers with a smile as she invites him in for a drink. Plays havoc on the hair, he jokes as he touches a strand. Learning her Dad is out - and Gloria's off on wedding related errands, Tom slithers in the front door. They're soon toasting to new adventures. In trying to learn more about HIM, Ash confides that she and Brad aren't officially divorced. When he shares that he was married once too - it ended badly - but experiencing pain better allows one to appreciate pleasure. That was eloquent, Ash decides. Does that mean I get to meet your Dad? Tom asks. Let's start with some friends, Ash suggests. Think they'll be surprised to meet me? he wonders. If you show upon a motorcycle in leathers. Maybe I'll buy you one, one day, Tom offers. Ash feels more comfortable on one with him. They share a quick kiss. Thanks for the drink - I'll set up the dinner, Ash says as she shows him the door. Tom grabs the helmets, and is just about out the door when he bumps into Michael. Needless to say, both are stunned.
Toe To Toe CEO's
Gina welcomes Victor and Vikki: No she hasn't heard from her nephew Daniel - but he's a decent kid. She's sure he'll give himself up. On a happier note, how wonderful that Vikki's in town. I'm going to be running the company, Vikki beams - but her smile flickers when Vic adds that it's only temporary - until Nick returns.
Nearby, Jack approves of the proposals Jill's given him - but can't help but wish Vikki was onboard for Jabot. That ship has sailed, Jill states wearily. They spot Vic and Vikki. Daddy and his little girl - warms the cockles of my heart, Jack grumbles: Moneybags lured her to the dark side. Jill throws out the theory that Vikki planned this. You're always so quick to blame Victor. Maybe Vikki only considered Jabot to nudge her Dad into hiring her at NE - she's a chip off the old block. She'll use devious tactics - it's more prestigious to work under Victor than you. She's under his thumb. She played us? Jack wonders - If you think Vic will let her run the company, YOU'RE the one who's naive.
Vikki and Vic sit - I can't believe I'll be running the show, she gushes. Vic won't just throw her into the deep end - he doesn't want her to be insecure. I've never doubted your ability. Vikki's happy he has confidence in her - but thinks Nick should be told. Having spent the day touring NE, she was amazed by the international marketing effort.
When she spots and points out Jack Abbott, Vic makes it clear that the war between them will never end - and he won't allow her to be one of Jacks spoils. No sooner has Gina delivered champagne, than the sender approaches to congratulate Vikki on becoming CEO of NE. Interim CEO, she corrects. When Vic praises Vikki's, Jack thinks it a shame he didn't realize it long ago - but instead let her flounder in Europe. My daughter will do a wonderful job for NE - under my wing she'll take NE in new directions. You have her right where you want her, Jack states. It's where she wants to be, Vic claims. It really is, Vikki agrees: you should try be happy for me. You're one lucky fella, Jack forces a smile. Since she learned the business under my tutelage, she'll do a good job - and give my son time to recover. NE will be in excellent hands, Vic concludes as she leaves to pick Nikki up to go watch Noah's ball game. My such lovely words of praise, Jack says sarcastically: let's hope your father was sincere, As long as you believe him, it's all that matters.
Nancy Drew And The Hardy Boys meet Austin Powers
In the LA motel, Phyllis now has the anger of Nick and Neil to contend with. She'd rather they focus on finding the kids - and worry about everything else later. When Neil continues to lash out at Phyllis for her son dragging his daughter on the run, Phyllis points out that Lily wanted to go - she's not been brainwashed. Nick jumps in to remind them that his daughter will never know what it's like to be in love. Both Neil and Phyllis are sorry. Nick restates the reason they're there. To bring Daniel back to GC to pay for what he's done. When it's suggested that Nick be given some time alone, Nick doesn't trust Phyllis to be left alone. I'll keep an eye on her, Neil promises. Phyllis' phone rings: It's Brendan - thank God you called. He's on his way from the airport - he'll be there when we get there. Eager to go, the boys plan to camp out until the kids show up. Wait - not so fast, Phyllis stops them. She wonders what Nick plans to do if and when he sees Daniel. Neil agrees. Nick will have the police escort him back to GC to face his charges. It's over - he can't hide anymore. Neil once again agrees - and all three head out.
Returning to his stylish LA bachelor pad, Brendan puts his guitar case down when there's a knock at the door: come in, he calls out. He's obviously surprised to learn THIS is the Phyllis Danny told him about: You're a knockout. After being introduced, Nick and Neil fire off questions about the kids. When Brendan quickly takes exception to the hostile and aggressive Nick, Phyllis asks Brendan to cut him some slack - he just lost his daughter. Things calm down then - and Phyllis is left alone to chat with Brendan. Brendan is sorry to hear about Nick's daughter - what did Daniel do - is he in a jam? He was driving the car Nick's daughter was in, she answers. Brendan can't believe it's the same Daniel - what flipped him out? Phyllis guesses he was drinking because of a girl. She's with him. Neil's daughter. What about you? Phyllis dreads the moment he's found - I know what's in store for him - it'll be hell. Brendan tells Phyllis that Daniel has to face the music. Phyllis knows - but doesn't want Nick to get to him. She looks terrified when Nick returns to announce they're calling the LAPD - right now.
Coward Of The County
Did you call Brendan again? Lily badgers Daniel at a coastal diner: No? Why? What's going on? Daniel can't get the accident out of his mind - I'm having weird flashbacks of it. I can't figure out what it means. Lily takes his hand: stop doing this to yourself. I have to face it - every day for the rest of my life I'll think of it - I can't do this anymore - can't go on this way, Daniel hangs his head. Lily hugs him. You're scaring me. I can't stand the thought of you going to jail. Daniel wants her to go home. This is a terrible life - every minute puts you at more risk. I already took one life - I won't destroy another one. Is this about your dream? Talk to me - maybe I can understand.
I'm trying to save you from danger - heartache. You've been unbelievable - the best friend a guy could ask for. That's all I am? A friend? Lily frowns. No - you mean more to me than anyone in the world, Daniel assures: that's why I can't put you through this. Lily vows to stay with him no matter how this ends! She too feels guilty over Cassie's death - I asked her to watch over you. I knew you were drinking - I shouldn't have asked her.
Daniel can never repay Lily for what's she's done. I'm a wanted man. Who knows how long it'll last - or what they'll do to me when they find me. This is not about us - the only way for you to survive is go home. He then gives her an ultimatum: Go home or I'll call your parents and tell them, where you are.
Holding Down The Fort
When Dru arrives at Crimson Lights, both she and Malcolm are suspicious of what information the other may be keeping. Has Neil found her? Malcolm feels he has a right to know. If anyone's gonna go after her, it'll be him - her father, Dru reminds him. YOU had no right to keep information from me and Neil. I have the right to know if he found her, a frustrated Malcolm insists. You have NO rights where Lily's concerned! Dru snaps - but soon confides that an old friend of Danny's got a call. They're hoping to intercept them? What do you plan to do when she gets home? Malcolm wonders - If you come down too hard, you may push her away. Dru spits that thanks to HIM, the authorities may do that for her. If she goes to jail - I blame YOU bruthah! Malcolm follows her - fine lash out at me. I know my place as Uncle - I can give her another point of view - welcome the communication I have with Lily - instead of resenting it. I wish you understood your responsibility as an adult, Dru replies. I have her best interest at heart, Malcolm insists. You have your own best interest at heart - I hope you haven't ruined her life, Dru tears up.
My Thoughts
Today's show rates an 8 ... Friday's spoiler will be posted shortly - didn't get a chance to watch the show (but taped it).
Next: Lily points out the obvious to Daniel: You call my parents they'll know where you are ....You two have met before? Ash asks of Michael and Tom (who stare, stunned, at one another) ... With Nick close behind, Phyllis hands over photos to a young man in some sort of hang out: Have you seen them?
For those who were members of the message boards - and therefore, no doubt, a friend of 'Leafy's' - Amy Kay has created a very touching tribute. http://dump.grendosa.com/Leafy.wmv . Just added: my own eulogy or sorts. My thoughts: From the heart - Leafy.
