Three's A Crowd
At the loft, Mac explains she's come to a decision - I don't want to walk away. I'm moving back in. JT doesn't understand - the way you tore into me.... Mac was angry - but after time to think it over, can't walk away from him. I want to be here - stand by you because I love you - I'm pretty sure you love me too. On cue, Brit arrives: Mackenzie, what are you doing here? What's going on?? Moving back in? You can't be serious. Mac doesn't think a baby on the way changes the way she and JT feel about one another. JT doesn't know what to say. I do, Brit butts in: JT can't bring himself to say it. You can't do it - it's ridiculous. JT's silent as Brit continues: Neither of us wants to hurt you - you injecting yourself will mess things up. JT and I are gonna have a baby - you need to stay away from us. JT, aren't you going to say anything? Mac asks. Sorry Mac - she's right - you moving in is a bad idea. Mac points out she's a big girl - I can handle anything as long as I know you want me here. Alas, when JT can't tell her that, Mac turns her back to hide her pain. You don't want me here, she pouts. Look - Mac, Brit begins. I don't want to hear another word from YOU, Mac snaps: Out! When JT asks for time with Mac, Brit walks out. JT turns his back to Mac: I hoped it wouldn't come to this. We have something special, Mac insists. You don't understand, JT states: Brit and I have a baby on the way. My life will turn upside down. I can't deal with you right now. Mac looks devastated.

The Abbott 4th of July Pool Party
As the Abbott pool party gets underway, John and Jack clink glasses in the living room: Happy 4th! Dressed like a big pink flamingo, Gloria is beside herself with excitement as she checks off her To Do list. Jack and Ash exit the room as the lovebirds hug. I've never seen Gloria so excited, Ash comments. Jack points out how happy Dad is - and pouts that Diane and Kyle won't be coming. Ash gives him a sympathetic hug. Arriving, Michael, Kevin are fawned over by Gloria. Lauren presents a pie. Isn't this wonderful? Gloria beams: my entire family together - I could just cry. Nearby, Ash and Jack force smiles.

The pool area is soon jumping with activity - Kay, Ester - and Jill. Kay hopes all pagers are turned off. As Jack requests a word with Kay regarding Chancellor Industries, Jill takes a call on her cell. Paul wanders about - then greets Ashley: I have you all to myself - or will Tom be joining us? While Ash teases him about being jealous, Lauren feeds Mike strawberries. **** Jill phone call??****

As Gloria goes to welcome Malcolm, Brad and Sharon toast: to friendship. Mr Abbott entertains Noah and Abby at the BBQ - then goes to get them ice cream. When Sharon worries about Noah swimming without her, he reassures her: Cassie's watching out for me - she's my guardian angel. Sharon looks at him sadly.

This is the first time we've been around so many people - as a couple. Mike grumbles - he likes a more private party, then shudders at the sight of his Mom: ugghh she's so... pink. Gloria poses with Kevin as Malcolm takes a photo.

Brad tells Jack he's just stopping to smell the roses. He doesn't miss the corptorate game- but is looking into a coupla things. Jill has her hands full and could use a right hand, Jack hints. Bet she could, Brad smirks as he saunters off.

Sharon updates Jack: Nick phoned from LA - the kids are there - he spoke to someone who saw them - it shouldn't be much longer. Jack worries about how Phyllis is holding up.

Kevin approaches John: excuse me Mr Abbott, I want to thank you for inviting me to your party. Mom can't stop smiling - I've never seen her this happy. Thanks again, he says. John smiles and sighs as Kevin walks away.

Malcolm greets Laruen - then borrows Paul to ask if he's heard anythgin from the kids. Paul is keeping an eye on their cards. Hows' Dru doing? Not too good.

Mike asks Gloria if she's spoken to an attorney. It has to be done soon. Gloria shushes him - I won't ruin this party by thinking about it. I'm off to get deviled eggs.

Inside, Lauren wonders if Gloria needs anything - everyone loves the lemonade - must be my secret ingredient, she replies. Gloria was thinking how beautiful Lauren would look coming down those stairs as a bride. Lauren doesn't want to cause problems between her and John - there are so many venues. But Gloria is hoping John will agree. She leaves Lauren to look wistfully at the stairs.

Outside, Sharon chats with the kids: I'm having a wonderful time, she claims. Cassie wouldn't want you to be sad, Noah tells her. Malcolm takes shots of her hugging the kids. Ash thinks the party is just what Sharon needed. Maybe, Brad agrees unconvincingly.

Jill approaches Malcolm to ask when he's coming over to Jabot. He's focussed on finding Lily - plus he's handling Nick's coffee house (not his corproate files). Photography is like riding a bike - once things settle down for Nick and Sharon, he'll be ready to rock and roll. Jill hopes he'll be as loyal to Jabot, and agrees: the sooner Nick gets back, the better - for everyone.

Brothers Mike and Kevin play Go Fish and marvel at being guests at an Aboott BBQ. Until Gloria has Tom declared legally dead we're all on thin ice, Mike worries. After Kevin goes for a swim, Mike chats with Ash: Gloria went all out - I saw you talking earlier with Paul - he still seems quiet smitten - you haven't been by the office lately. Things are going well with Paul, Ash assures. He needs a good woman to keep him out of trobule, Mike tells her. Really.. Ash looks puzzled as Mike reclines and closes his eyes.

Like a moth, Gloria flitters her way amongst the guests - then chats with Sharon. I admire you. You're so brave. Your daughter's looking down and is very proud too. Sharon thanks her. Gloria then has an announcement to make. First of all - welcome to the Abbott family 4th of July - we're all pleased you could join us. Many of you may know, my son Michael and the lovely Larune Fenmore are engaged - join me in a toast to the happy couple. Here, here the crowd murmurs. Needless to say, I am tickled... 'Pink', someone cracks fromt he back. I'm gaining a lovely daughter in law, Gloria continues. Family makes life worthwhile. Cheers, all mutter. As Lauren thanks Gloria, Kevin smiles on - proud and happy.

Sharon makes her way to the Abbott living room and sitting, removes a photo of Cassie from her purse: I miss you so much, she sobs. Brad walks in slowly: it's OK to cry. On a day like this, I'm surprised you held it together so long. I hope it wasn't a mistake inviting you. Sharon had a great day - so did Noah. Brad notices she almost seemd like her old self. Sharon felt like that too - then got that feeling in the pit of her stomach. My whole life is falling apart - I don't know where to turn or how to make it better. Brad thinks it'll just take time. As she clings to him, a surprised Ash watches.

The Honeymooners
Nikki and Vic sit on a park bench - the park will soon be packed with picnickers. Nikki can't help but think of Cassie (on her favourite holiday). Vic agrees it seems strange celebrating - will Nick ever recover from Cassie's death? He's stricken with guilt and filled with rage. How can he leave his family at a time like this? We have to be there for Sharon, Vic concludes. I really miss Cassie, a forlorn Nikki blinks back tears.

Entering the Athletic Club, Nikki informs Vic it seems to be closed. When Gina welcomes them, Nikki's surprised to hear this is their own private 4th of July party. She seats the pair at a decorated table: I'll be standing by if there's anything you need. Enjoy yourselves. Once again, you've risen to the occasion, Nikki purrs in delight. For the woman he loves, Vic adds. We'll survive anything. Nikki believes it. We're so lucky to have each other, Vic says. I love you, Nikki says with teary eyes as they clink glasses and drink.

Later they dance to an instrumental version of Looking Through The Eyes Of Love - and exchange mushy sentiments. Vic kisses her cheek - I have something for you. For me? Nikki's surprised as she takes the envelope. It has both our names on it, she notes. Open it, Vic prods. She reads: what is it? An itinerary for our 3 week Greek cruise - Vic's hired a ship - a crew - the whole works. Nikki hugs him: I love you more at this moment than the day I married you - thank you. Vic has decided never to take her for granted again. Hopefully, by the fall, the kids will all be settled.

Walkin' In A Winters Wonderland
Dru's stunned: Wow - you saw your mother? She came looking for you? Devon admits he went to find her. I knew I shouldn't have said anything. Dru asks for a moment alone with Devon. It's the right thing, Malcolm reassures Devon before leaving. You haven't seen her in so long - where's this coming from? Dru asks: Is it what you expected? Devon doesn't regret seeing her - I'm glad I did. I was afraid she'd moved - or died. She's the same as I remembered - she knew who I was - but not my age. She's still doing drugs - but she's a survivor. How bad is her addiction? Dru asks: I didn't say she was a bad person. Must be hard for her to have given you up. I'm fine, Devon insists. Dru doesn't think so. I tried to give her some money - she would't take it, Devin adds. Says something about her character - maybe she's trying to kick her habbit, Dru suggests earnestly. Plan on seeing her again? Of course you do. Dru denies she's mad - I'm proud of you. I love being your mother - but I haven't forgotten you have a birth mother and need to reconnect with her. It's natural. You're my son - I HAVE to understand it. Neil and I would like to go with you. Devon can handle himself - this is MY Mom - if I want to go by myself there's nothing you can do about it. She doesn't want to see me, he admits. I'm so sorry, Dru repeats as Devon heads to his room.

My Thoughts
Today's show rates an 8... Vic and Nikki better watch our for the park crackheads .... Why on earth is Gina spending Independence Day waiting on the Newman's when she should be at the Abbott pool party (waiting on the Abbott's) .... Shouldn't it have been John who made the speech? ... Kevin looked cute in his Gilligan hat.... This year's winner of the most prominent Personal Floatation Devices goes to Lauren ... How pathetic that with all those adults there was only two kids there ... If Ester got invited - why couldn't Sharon have brought Miguel? .... What's the big deal about the Abbott staircase? It's not like it's a grand Scarlett O'Hara staircase - in fact it almost heads right into the front door ... You'd think millionaire Mike could afford the Colonnade Room - or Lauren could ask her dear old pal Kay for use of the Estate (I'm sure Kay would agree - she DID allow virtual strangers Bobby and Brit to wed there). Never mind, that staircase isn't exactly opulent either - but they could get married outside ..... Enough groveling Mac! I hope that by the time JT's done playing the role of reluctant but responsible father, Mac's fallen for some pre-med student or sumthin' ..

Next: Today's PSA is by Nick and Sharon: www.madd.org ... Don't drink and drive ... Sharon confides in Nikki: I can't help but feel alone and cut off from my husband... An excited Daniel grabs Lily by the shoulders: Lily! I remember the accident! ! ..Vinnie leans across the bar to Bobby: I have a job for ya...

Happy Canada Day!!

For those who were members of the message boards - and therefore, no doubt, a friend of 'Leafy's' - Amy Kay has created a very touching tribute. http://dump.grendosa.com/Leafy.wmv . Just added: my own eulogy or sorts. My thoughts: From the heart - Leafy.
