Married To The Mob
At the club, Paul orders whatever Bobby has on tap. How's it going? Not good, Bobby replies: The game we're playing looks like it'll blow up soon. He relays his dilemma. Paul worries about Brit and the kid. They're my whole world, Bobby tells him: I need time to finish my plan. He clams up when Vinnie arrives. Paul gives Bobby his card and moves to a table: I have an idea.
JT finds Brit packing - so she'll be ready when Bobby gives the word. She appreciates all JT's done and is sorry to have involved him. I never imagined it'd lead to this. Now they want to hurt you. She has no idea where she'll go - and wouldn't tell him if she did. I trust you with my life - I don't want you in any deeper. you leave town, does that mean we'll never see one another? JT asks Brit. Probably - or my family, she replies: Bobby and I will be in hiding - a new town - change our names. The worst part, we'll still not be safe - we'll always have to look over our shoulders. I was foolish to think Bobby could leave that life behind - he'll never be free. JT's sorry - do you realize what you've given up to be with Marsino? Brit has no choice but to stand by her husband. I saw you talking to that guy: Paul Williams - that kid, JT, works for him. Be careful the company you keep, Vinnie warns.
Chris sits at Paul's table and hears they have permission to check out the car. There's still some red tape - Webber's not eager to do favours for a bail jumper. Daniel won't get bail this time - Nick will get what he wants (Daniel behind bars). She wonders how their findings will impact Nicholas. Yes, she wants the truth to come out - but Nick's already having a hard time. Paul thinks she's amazing - doing her best for her client Daniel, but worried about the people across the aisle. Chris leaves to update Nick.
Behind the bar, Bobby discreetly gives Brit a signal call from his cell. At the loft, Brit looks terrified: Oh my God! and immediately calls him back. It's me, she whispers. Bobby talks curtly: you know the business we talked about? I want to make sure it gets done. What's he gonna do? Run to Kansas City? Brit gets it - Next flight to Kansas city, Brit answers. Where's the lug now? Bobby asks: look - wait a minute hold on - cancel that - we're good. Bobby, what are you talking about? Brit asks in confusion. Just don't move, Bobby tells her as JT hobbles in on crutches - with a black eye.
Vinnie takes it all in as Bobby taunts JT: You learned your lesson? You shoulda thought twice before you messed with my ole lady. You think this is funny? huh? JT suddenly points a gun at Bobby: You think this is funny Marsino!? he repeats.
Pipe Dreams
Dru finds Devon rifling through her wallet. You think I'm blind? she asks - what were you doing in my purse? Devon was looking for her DVD rental card. Ok - I needed money, he admits sheepishly. Do I need to ask who it was for? Dru replies. I didn't want to steal from you, Devon says - but didn't know where else to get the money. I have to go somewhere, Dru orders; be here when I get home. At the park, a dealer approaches - lose something? You looking for the glass pipe? Got it right here. Yeah I know Yolanda - owes me ten bucks. Dru gives him the money - he'll get her.
When Dru introduces herself, Yolanda tries to flee: You come here to lecture me? I'm respectfully asking you to let your son go - he's made progress. He thinks he can get you clean. We both know you have to want that yourself - he needs to focus on his life. Yolanda sees it the same way. I caught his trying to steal money from my purse. What can I do? Yolanda asks. Move away - I'll give you the money for rehab. No - I'll end up right here - high as a kite. I have friends here. I may have a tough life, but I'm surviving. I'm proud of Devon - glad he's doing well - but I ain't going anywhere. I don't owe him anything. I'm selfish. I I wasn't - you think my son'd be living with you? If he comes around, I'll tell him what I told him before - that's all I can do. Dru leaves without further word.
Devon - I went to see your mother, Dru announces when she returns home. To give her a hard time? Devon balks: You had no right to do that. No - to meet her, Dru clarifies - to see if we're on the same page. And we are - you need to finish high school, go to college. She won't drag me down - stay away from her. You going in your fancy clothes talking down to her, he accuses - she feels ashamed enough. We had a good talk, I promise, Dru hugs the reluctant Devon. Let's sit down and talk about it. She's my only family - you always told me family comes firs, Devon points out. Neil calls - he and Lily will be home soon. I won't show Lily how happy I am, she vows as she hangs up. Why not? Cause I'm mad as hell at that girl. No matter how mad you get at your kids, you love them no matter what.
Baldwin Bargains
Mike's NOT pleased to see Tom in his office - or in this town. I told you to take a hike. I'm supposed to pay you 5 grand for 6 months. We had an agreement. Not according to Tom - he wants to stay in good ole GC. Tom needs cash and thinks he's deserved it (for not causing trouble). No - he's not seeing Ashley anymore. My, my - little touchy, Mike observes: she dumped you? Did she suddenly wonder why she's with this shifty eyed low life? She was classy about it, Tom manages to look hurt. Is Tom Fisher having a deep feeling? Mike taunts. Shut your mouth, Tom snaps. Or I'll shut it for you. So - you fell for her - she's out of your league. Tom claims he has feelings just like everybody else. How was I supposed to know I wasn't cut out to be a father? - after she had YOU, I don't know why she wanted to have another one. But I said what the hell - I'd teach him to play shortstop - it didn't work out - we never hit it off. Interesting choice of words, Mike thinks - nice try rewriting history - I was there - I know exactly how it was. You may not have liked being a father but you loved abusing a helpless child.
Mike offers $10,000 if he sticks to the original deal. The family you terrorized has achieved happiness. Tom gets no kicks anymore in seeing Kevin blubber like a baby. The town's big enough for all of them. 20 grand, Mike counters, plus 10,000 a month - you cash it in Florida - the offer expires in 24 hours. And if I don't accept? Tom wonders. Get a job, Mike suggests - support yourself. Tom slithers out: I'll get back to ya. Don't take your time, Mike warns.
Good Grief
Phyllis marches into the office to confront Nick and Vikki: So - am I fired? Phyllis asks: You're confusing personal issues with business. We don't even know if Daniel was driving. Admit it - you need me. You're out of here, Nick insists. This is a bad time - we don't have a replacement, Vikki disagrees: It'd be smart to keep her for the moment. Phyllis is pleased: Vikki's in charge and she wants me around. But when push comes to shove, Vikki backs Nick - it'd be best if we parted ways. Bye Phyllis. I know what this is about - you don't blame me . You let your 14 year old daughter out that night - there was drinking - something tragic happened. You're so busy pointing fingers. Look in the mirror. The guilt is eating you up. You can't fire me - I quit. Nick slams the door. No - Nick hasn't told Sharon about Phyllis' theory - it'll upset her. He admits there's truth to it - part of me blames myself. I never should have let her go out. Does Sharon know you feel this way? Is this something else you're keeping from her, Vikki asks. Nick doesn't want to talk about him and Sharon - and assures her she's in charge. Vikki leaves for a meeting: stay as long as you like.
Seated behind the desk and moping over a photo of Cassie, Nick gets a visitor: What are you doing here Christine? She's there to give him a heads up. There's no way in hell you'll prove it, Nick states confidently. You won't prove Daniel wasn't driving that car. On side by side stationary bikes, Brad finds Sharon's attitude admirable - but don't bury your feelings. Why did I agree with Nick to let Cassie out that night? You're not the person I should be talking to - but it means a lot. They move onto the dumbbells - you'll be the buffest woman in GC. Sharon knows he's trying to lift her spirits - but I better head home. Brad agrees: have a good afternoon. Wish me luck, Sharon says. You don't need luck, Brad answers. You need time and love; you have both.
My Thoughts
Today's show rates an 8.5 ... What kind of mobster is Vinnie? He's more like a mystery shopper assigned to report on the club's service. Shouldn't he be out putting horse heads in peoples beds or sumthin' .... I'm guessing most drug dealers would just take Dru's 10 bucks and not bother to tell Yolanda ... Who knew GC's lovely little parkette was absolutely overrun with druggies ..... While it's commendable (I s'pose) of Devon to want to help his Mom (to get high), why can't he get a job folding T-shirts or something to do it? .... LOL @ Dru removing her hat to talk to Yolanda. Is that a sign of respect? Or does it give her request more meaning? Or has Dru finally realized how silly she looks? ... Of course Tom's in no hurry to leave town - every time he comes back Mike doubles the bribe ... ....
Next: Vic confronts Brad: The Brad Carlton I know wouldn't come back to NE without an agenda .... Put the gun away, Bobby tells JT. No - you're gonna pay for what you've done to me, JT aims the gun.
