At CL's, Jill can't forget the misery Kay's caused her family - while Cane (who has more reason to carry a grudge) encourages her to forgive - you love each other - turn this relationship around. If the DNA results prove he's not her son - will Jill turn on HIM? Jill has no doubt whatsoever that Cane's her son.
In the estate's garden, Lily and Nina apologize to one another for their spat. One of them won't be happy with the DN results - but they call a truce for Kay's sake. On cue, Nina gets a call - the results are in, she soon announces.
Mary Jane? Are you alright? Jack asks his distracted playmate (who's had a bad day and could really use a friend). I'm fine, she assures when Jack has to go meet Sharon (and so carries on down the club's upstairs hallway).
In Summer's room, Phyllis does the ole 'open your eyes' - while Vic's on the phone arranging a specialist be flown in to consult if needed. In the hallway, Paul's horrified when Heather confides it might not be an accident (not believing for one second Phyllis is responsible).
In her suite, MJ flashes back to Victor brining her to town - Paul's questions - then arousing Jack's suspicion (how DID she know there's a portrait of John in the study?). She removes an envelope from her Holy Bible - the wedding invitation of Patricia Williams and Jack Abbott. Happy Anniversary, Jack, she whispers.
At Summer's bedside, Nick and Phyllis offer more encouragement to their comatose daughter. Remember last year? Phyllis turns to reminisce with Nick - wake up for the fireworks, Phyllis tears up over 'super girl'. It's my fault - God is punishing me. No - it's an accident, Nick declares her an amazing mother. YOU'RE the glue that keeps this family together - he couldn't ask for a better mother for his daughter ~hug~
Jack? You remembered, MJ opens her door - disappointed to find Paul there - you OK? MJ confides it's an anniversary - not a pleasant one. Paul's there regarding rumours about Phyllis - has she noticed any odd behavior? MJ tears up - it's not a bad time - then apologizes. But when Paul hasn't the time to have coffee with her, MJ closes the door on the puzzled PI - I can't help you. Now alone, she cries - where'd you put my pills Kitty? she rummages through her drawers until she finds (and takes) some meds (washing them down with a tiny bottle from the bar). Climbing into bed hugging Kitty, MJ continues to weep. Make it stop, she pleads.
In her suite, Sharon lets Noah in with a hug - he can't lose Summer (after losing Cassie). Don't lose hope, Sharon offers support - then tells him that Jack's the father of the baby. No idea what that means for her and Dad - he has to focus on Summer. As it's now Noah's turn to offer a supportive hug, Sharon's just fine - Jack's gonna be a great father.
Victor joins Nick in the chapel - Phyllis is looking for him. Nick finds it hard to sit in Summer's room - all he can see is Cassie. Victor understands - but don't give up - she hears you. Why is this happening again? Nick sniffles - then confides Jack's the father of Sharon's baby girl. Vic's sorry to hear it - knowing how much he wanted it to be his. Victor then goes to tell Phyllis that he'll be back soon. Jack then arrives - to hear Nick's scared they'll lose Summer. Jack too offers support - he loves Summer too (then reminds that he delivered her). She's a tough little girl - just like her Mom. Nick doesn't want God to take THIS daughter - he won't allow it to happen again. You hear me?
Envelope in hand, Nina first assures herself that Kay's healthy - then says she's home just in time. She doesn't have the courage to open it herself.
On the patio, Jill continues to believe Cane's her son - look at the bond we have. Cane admits he even kind of likes the war that goes on in his crazy family. It's more than he ever hoped for. Lily comes along - with a copy of the results. When Jill would like to get it over with, Cane contemplates the envelope in his hands. I'm your son, he then announces. Not surprised - but relieved, hugs are exchanged. Jill then suggests he take the Chancellor name. Cane doesn't want to make things worse for Nina, Jill can't wait to rub her nose in it - but OK, she'll try to be nice to Kay. After Jill leaves, Lily gives Cane a kiss - she leaves the decision on taking the Chancellor name up to him. And now, she's off to buy some dessert for the BBQ at Kay's. Lingering on the patio, Cane leaves yet another message for langley - I took care of it.
No! No! I don't believe this! Nina hands the results to Kay (who denies cane tampered with it). Who's that young man we both came to love so much? If only Nina could find his body. Nina talks about the police officer who disappeared - and rushes out intending to find out what's going on.
Oh Kitty - you're alive - there you are, MJ enters a fuzzy black and white dreamland. In her wedding dress, she chases her cat - then sees Jack making out with a woman representing Diane - I saw you - in your office - how could you? I was pregnant with your baby. Tripping - she cries out - oh no - not my baby!
Now at the hospital, Noah's sorry about Nick not being the father - you guys can't catch a break. You and Summer matter most, Nick assures. Noah can only hope that Summer's gonna be OK ~hug~ Noah hugs Nikki - as Phyllis announces Noah's here. It's your favourite brother, Noah approaches the bed. In the hallway, Paul tells Nikki why Heather's hanging around - is there any chance it was no accident. Nikki's horrified - you think Phyllis did something to Summer?
Mary Jane's (aka Patty Williams') dream continues - as she tells the fairy tale that went wrong - after losing their baby, she found out he only married her to become president of Jabot. I loved you Jack - but I meant nothing to you, she weeps. Pulling a gun out, MJ points it at her temple. Don't - don't - if anyone deserves to be shot it's ME, Jack implores. His eyes widen as MJ fires 3 shots at him. MJ now awakens in her bed - hr faint smile fades into frown lines.
Nikki thinks the very idea of Phyllis hurting Summer 'insane'. How could Paul suggest such a thing? Agreeing, he confides Heather got an anonymous tip. Nikki acknowledges that Phyllis has done some shady things - but she would never hurt her own child. Again Paul agrees - but getting an alert from the lab that Cane's DNA results are in, hurries off.
Sharon arrives at Jack's (who's all excited about tearing down walls to make room for a nursery - and Sharon if she wants to be nearby). Sharon's not ready for this togetherness. But since he's accepted her ambivalence, maybe she could cut Jack some slack on his enthusiasm? This is his second chance - he's pretty good with other peoples kids - surely he can be a good Dad to his own.
MJ's nodded off again - tossing her he sleep - Jack? back to the black and white dream - Paul - help me - I need you. I need my big brother - someone, she crumples to the floor. Along comes Victor Newman - I can give you what you want - make you a sophisticated and dynamic woman Jack would fall in love with. Why? MJ wonders. Victor removes the vail on MJ. I'll do anything you want, she agrees. Along comes Sharon (with a bulging belly). You're just a plaything to Jack, she sneers smugly - he wants me - we're gonna raise this baby. I hope history won't repeat itself, Victor whispers in MJ's ear. MJ awakens abruptly - you're gonna love me Jack - this time there won't BE other women - you're gonna be ALL mind, she vows.
As Phyllis and Nick continue to hover over Summer, Heather arrives with Gill - to ask that Phyllis step away from her daughter. What? A threat? I'd never hurt my daughter!? Heather accuses Phyllis of feeding her daughter peanuts to get the attention of the husband she's just separated from. That's beyond insane! Phyllis scowls - go to hell! Gill threatens to arrest her for obstruction of justice if she doesn't cooperate. I'm not going anywhere! Phyllis fights Gill off as Victor points his finger at Ms Steven's - how dare you. Phyllis weeps over Summer for a moment as Gill and Heather hustle her outside. God! Nikki gasps in horror. And as Victor questions Nick, he can only stare in shock.
Now in the hallway, Phyllis gripes to Nick that they've posted a guard in front of Summer's door - like she's a criminal or sumthin'. We'll figure it out, Nick assures. Vic's calling Baldwin - he'll handle this. When Heather apologetically tells Nikki she had no choice, Nikki hisses as she walks off - there's always a choice. I didn't do this, Phyllis denies. Nikki knows. Heather and Gill say Phyllis has to leave - and must make herself available for questioning. Phyllis pleads with Victor and Nikki to be there for Summer - promise? she simpers as Nick walks her out.
Coming down from checking out Jack's progress with the nursery, Sharon stops his rambling - it's too much. Jack agrees to back off. It's not you - it's me - I need to provide a stable home - on my OWN. Give me some time - let me figure this out - please! Pulling Sharon into a hug, Jack agrees.
Murphy knows Ester's a good egg - but tofu burgers at a cook out!? Kay will speak to her. Jill joins them to hear kay's feeling just fine (no thanks to her). Kay's ready for Jill's I told you so - but is surprised when Jill's just glad she's alright. Murphy hopes he can leave them alone for a minute - holler if you need anything. Jill wonders how Nina took it. And Kay? She's just glad it's settled. When Jill feels they're now still family. After you left me for dead yesterday? Kay snaps. Who in the hell needs a family like THAT!? she adds before marching out.
On the CL's patio, Lily comes out with her box of desserts. Cane talks about his family being the greatest gift. It's no gift - you ARE Philip Chancellor, Lily smiles - and now nobody can question it.
Nina paces at the site of Philip's exhumed grave. Sitting on the bench, it's back to square one - she can't even help her son find out of he has the Huntington gene. I loved you so much - and now she'll never know where he came from - why can't she accept Cane as Philip? Because you're right - he may not be, Paul appears to say. he just talked to the tech at the lab - you're right - there's something wrong with Cane's blood test.
Next: Mike informs Victor that the county has temporary custody of Summer - the court will appoint a guardian. Nikki shakes her head in disbelief - our hands are tied? ... Kind of exciting isn't it? Billy grins (in the suite at the club). What? Meeting secretly? Mac grins back ... In the garden, Nina (with Paul in tow) accosts Cane - the blood Cane - where'd it come from!? Both he and Lily turn, stunned.
My Thoughts: Finally, it's confirmed that Mary Jane Benson is indeed Patty William's - the once sweet and innocent young girl who had the misfortune to fall in love with older playboy Jack Abbott - only to shoot him when catching him cheating with Jabot's lead model Diane Jenkins ... Funny how Kitty looked like a totally different cat when it came to life .. When will MJ/Patty get the hint? He's Just Not That Into You? In fact, even though bordering on tears - and desperately in need of a friend, Jack couldn't delay his meeting with the lying 'hot mess' who wants nothing to do with him - and while constantly wrapping his arms around the reluctant Sharon, Jack couldn't even offer a friendly hug for MJ? ... How could MJ think Jack remembered their anniversary - he doesn't even know who she is? Plus - SHE didn't remember his birthday ... Knocking on MJ's door, and finding the odd woman acting even odder than usual, and for once, receptive to his questions, why didn't Paul jump on that? And surely he must have heard her bellowing for her pills as soon as she slammed the door on his face.... Why is Victor having Summer's medical records sent to an out of state Children's Hospital? Is she being moved? Or is that where the specialist's coming from? Nice that Victor offers to pay for whomever's filling in - and he also has the private jet on stand by. Oh look at the Newman's rallying together in a crisis - with Victor throwing as much money at the situation as possible .... Why do folks even bother with DNA tests? They're hardly, if ever, accurate - and apparently easily tampered with or otherwise fooled ... Nice that Nina's working on her laptop beside the Chancellor pool - but anyone who's tried to work on a laptop outside knows the glare doesn't make things easy. Nina should really move to the shade .... Paul knows better than most what Phyllis is capable of (except for the crime she committed that made HIM the victim) - so why would he not believe Heather's onto something? Heather sure wastes no time blabbing confidential information re: an ongoing investigation to the man who's engaged to a woman who shares the same last name as the suspect (who also happens to be Nikki's boss at RS) ... Nick has some nerve asking God for help - didn't he stand before God and 'vow' to forsake all others - twice and to different women? ... Jill thinks the bond between her and Cane is 'unmistakable'? It's not the first time Jill's 'bonded' with a young man (in fact, sometimes, like in the case of Larry Warton, the bonding included 'bondage') ... Nick tells Phyllis he couldn't ask for a better mother for his daughter? Just the other day he was telling Sharon that they should have always been together (thereby implying the past 4 years have been a mistake) ... And how is Phyllis the 'glue' that holds their family together? The family's NOT together - guess Phyllis is more like an Elmer's glue stick from Summer's pencil case - than Crazy Glue ... Jill's necklace looks like gold cockroaches are strangling her ... Lily Chancellor? After trying to say THAT 3 times fast, she might want to stick with Ashby ... Finding Philip's body? What are the chances? Murphy shrugs it off (forgetting that in GC many things happen despite the odds). What are the chances a bait n' tackle shop owner residing in a trailer would marry a billionairess for instance? ... Today Sharon continues her web of deceit by telling Noah that Jack's the father of her baby. Yeah - lying to the boy should make him change his mind on divorcing her - was there really a need for Noah to know his mother's sleeping around without using protection? Couldn't he have been told AFTER the results came in? ... Jack's mansion doesn't have a room large enough to make into a nursery that Sharon can stay in too - without knocking down walls? And given that Jack's having all this work done, did Sharon really tell Jack 'it's just a nursery'? Couldn't she at least give him credit for his hard work? When he finds out the truth, will Jack take a page from Cane's book - and fight for custody? Jack's right - he IS pretty good with other people's kids - but lousy with his own. Since he loves kids so much, WHY wasn't he more involved in Kyle's upbringing? ... Sharon wants to be 'self reliant' (but on Newman money of course) With Chloe at the estate and Billy at the club, I wouldn't be surprised if Sharon and baby ended up in the pool house ... Odd that in 'Patty's' dream there's no reference to the facial disfigurement that was implied when she first met with Victor ('I don't look good' she said as she asked him not to turn on the lights). Now, Victor indicates the surgery was just to change her into a sophisticated woman that Jack wouldn't recognize. Of course MJ keeps her wedding invitation in a Holy Bible - she's the daughter of the ultra religious Mary William's ... Jack? A handsome prince? What kind of drugs is MJ taking? ... If there's something wrong with Cane's blood test, why wasn't there indication of that in the documentation that came with the results? Could it be that frozen blood can't be substituted for fresh without anyone noticing? Jill better hope she doesn't go too far rubbing Nina's nose in it just yet.
