At the chapel, Paul and Nikki's wedding rehearsal is underway. Kay mentions that Murphy has to MC at the Lodge - then is re-introduced to Father Todd. Everyone then admires Nikki's new necklace. When Todd questions Heather, Nikki saves an awkward moment by stating simply that Heather's boyfriend won't be able to make it. Mary isn't 'up to it' - and is 'saving herself' for tomorrow - but will be going for dinner with Todd, while Nick chimes in to say Phyllis is instructing the sitter - but will meet them at the club (as will Murphy). As Father Todd leads everyone through their roles, Nick's happy that this time his Mom will live happily ever after.
During awkward small talk at CL's, Phyllis tells Sharon where Nick bought her new ring. Hearing that Phyllis is off to the rehearsal, Sharon comments that there's a lot of ceremonies in the Newman family lately. Yes, must be something in the water.
At the ranch, Ashley's too wound up to sleep - but doesn't want to talk about why she's still upset with Victor (who won't be able to charm his way out of this one). Ashley will never forget the way he manipulated her family behind her back. Victor goes to fix a snack - but then insists they talk - this can't go on.
Now out of the hospital (and back at Neil's) Lily's slowly lead to the sofa by Tyra. With Humphrey at her side, Lily doesn't feel like going to bed (assuming she'll spend more than enough time there once she starts chemo). As Tyra goes off for a blanket and pillows, Neil informs that he's stocked up on Lily's favourite magazines and snacks. Anything else she needs? Yes - Cane. 'Too soon' for company? But he's not company - he's my husband, Lily reminds. Tyra's in agreement - he WAS the one who convinced Lily to have surgery after all. And when Lily calls to summon him, Cane jumps - I'm on my way.
Phyllis arrives at the rehearsal - joining Nick as he explains it's their first night both being away from Summer. The sitter's letting her and Reed stay up late and eat ice cream. News to Vikki - who's unimpressed to hear it was OK'd by JT. With the ceremony now rehearsed, all applaud when the bride and groom get to the kiss. Hugging his bride to be, Paul can't wait until she's Mrs Paul Williams. But over his shoulder, Nikki's face screams 'what the hell am I doing?'
After serving a snack - and joking that he's a wizard with a can opener, Victor now wants to clear the air. Ashley protests - it's not good for the baby - and with Zapato's death, she doesn't want to make this day any worse. Ashley clams up, struggling not to react when Sabrina appears - poor Zapato - this ranch is a death trap. Whattsamatter? Victor wonders - puzzled by Ashley's terrified expression.
After an awkward pause at the front door, Neil gives Cane the nod to come in. Cane mentions knowing that Lily was released from the hospital (as he and Tyra have been in contact. Plus, the hospital have kept him informed - as he and Lily ARE still technically married). You look beautiful, Cane gushes. Yeah, I'm a vision, Lily quips sarcastically. She then sends the 'hovering' Neil off with Tyra - with Cane promising not to overstay his welcome.
Joining the rehearsal dinner party at the club, Murphy reports it's supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow (causing all to chime in as to whether that's good or bad luck). Kay doesn't think it matters - one makes one's own future. In a nearby chair, Sharon squirms at Phyllis prattles on about being happy (while draped all over Nick).
Cane explains to Lily that he wanted to visit - but didn't want to upset Neil and Devon (which would upset HER). Lily thought he'd left town after all. Cane understands that Lily has lost trust in him - then accepts delivery of a gift basket he'd ordered before knowing whether she'd want to see him.
At CL's, Neil brings up Tyra being in touch with Cane. He played a big role in Lily having surgery - he deserved to know what was going on. That wasn't your decision, Neil worries he'll mess with Lily's head - her condition overshadows everything else - she's struggling with Cane's betrayal - and has cancer - she has to heal from a hysterectomy - the odds aren't in her favour. She's gonna beat this, Tyra's sure. Neil thinks Lily will need positive energy to fight this disease. The day will come when Lily's reminded of the future - ruined by Cane's lies and cancer - how is ANY of that good for Lily?
Ashley appreciates Victor wanting to take care of her - but doesn't know what to tell him. SHE'S not the one who ruined their 'easy' relationship. As Victor goes for tea, Sabrina appears to say she knows a little secret - about her baby.
At the dinner party, Nick proposes a toast - people fall in love every day - but to fall in love with someone again is special (and he should know). And as the unseen Sharon pouts, Nick talks of his Mom and Paul being friends for years - this time she's picked someone who'll treat her like the treasure she is. And as he goes on about trust, the Hellstrum's squirm (and having had enough, Sharon leaves). Nick speaks highly of the unwavering Paul - he knows what it's like when someone stands by you - that's love. Nikki's face is blank as all toast to her long and happy life with Paul.
As the dinner party wraps up, guests start to drift off. Heather lingers to say she's never seen Paul so happy. And as he walks her out, Murphy leaves Kay to speak to Nikki about their last conversation. She was wrong - Nikki's not the one stuck in the past. She talked to Jill - and isn't certain she loved Philip as much as she thought. Nikki can't believe she's hearing this - you always said he was the love of your life. Kay's gained perspective since marrying Murphy - she's where (and with whom) she's supposed to be - like her and Paul. Congratulations ~hug~ The future will hold everything you've ever dreamed of. Not smiling, Nikki gives the Hellstrums' and Kay a kiss before leaving with Paul. And after Kay leaves, JT declares the evening fun. What did I do now? Vikki gripes about him letting Reed stay up eating ice cream all night - didn't they agree to a schedule? JT sighs - gimme a break - it's a one time thing. He'll take care of the cranky kid tomorrow. JT DOES get the point (which is Vikki going crazy when she doesn't have control over everything). Uggghh, Vikki sighs in annoyance.
Now on the patio, Neil knows Tyra meant well. She only wanted to help. You try too hard - you didn't need to come with me to pick up Lily. Tyra can't win - Neil pulled away because of his priorities - she hasn't asked anything of him - just tries to be supportive - but he doesn't like that either. Tyra overheard him talking to Dru - that he can't get through this without her. No - it's not strange that he talks to his dead wife - but she's gone - and I'm here. Tyra wants to help Neil - do you want to be with me or not? Neil's worried about his baby girl dying - and doesn't need (or have the energy for) 'this' right now. OK, Tyra nods - guess I got my answer.
Lily's thrilled with the gift basket's contents - strawberry tarts, classic movies - a book. They chuckle as she reads out an excerpt from the sappy romance novel. Cane went on an Internet chat room to find out what people in similar situations found useful in 'getting through'. Lily thinks that so thoughtful. Cane explains some of the items - eye drops to relive dryness chemo can cause. Hand lotion to combat germs - peppermint and ginger for upset tummies. Baby shampoo - oh, and a lint roller - in case her hair falls out, he explains haltingly. Maybe it's too much too soon, Cane apologizes - it's a lot to digest - you look tired. He'll summon Neil home and take off now. No - Lily asks him not to go - not yet.
Returning to the tacky house, Nick's put Summer to bed - while Phyllis flips through some photos of her. She confides running into Sharon - it was nice - civil - no one called the cops. Boring - but it sounds good to Nick. Phyllis comes over to assure that boring is something THEY will never be ~kiss~
In a jewelry store, Sharon eyes the baubles behind the glass case. Then, with a security guard prominently placed behind her, asks the salesman to see 'this one please'.
As Paul and Nikki return to the chapel for her misplaced list, the groom to be has something to say - he knows it's hard for her to trust someone after David - and to love someone after Victor. But he's very happy that she chose him. I love you - always have ~hug~ Nikki's over the shoulder look screams 'what the hell am I doing?'
Agitated, Ashley stands up - please don't ask again if I'm OK. Sabrina appears to emotionally implore of Ashley - how can Victor say he loves you (after stabbing your family in the back)? Have you heard a word I've said? Victor wonders. Ashley really needs Victor to tell the truth - Sabrina was a wonderful woman - after losing her you were lost and alone. Ashley wonders if they'd have ended up together IF she hadn't been the one to seek him out. She thought it was destiny - meant to be. But, was I kidding myself? Will I always be a consolation prize to you? Victor stands to deny Ashley's a consolation prize - he's loved her for years. You've loved lots of people, Ashley points out. They're just words. You don't really know who I am, do you?
You take 'not boring' to a whole new level, Nick and Phyllis get busy. And to a musical montage, Sharon admires the ring on her finger ... On the patio, Tyra shrugs out of Neil's grip and storms off ... Cane, Lily and Humphrey snuggle on the sofa ... Murphy and Kay kiss and smile at one another ... The last guests at the club's dinner table, JT and Vikki sit far apart - both looking glum as Vikki drains her wine glass, while JT sips his tea ... Victor reaches out to Ashley (who recoils and walks off)... Nikki gulps before blurting out Paul's name (as he stares up at the chapel's wall mounted Jesus). Looking devastated, she's sorry - so sorry - but she can't marry him. Paul looks devastated as tear start streaming down the agonized Nikki's face.
Next: Paul has tears in his eyes as he questions Nikki - It's not going to happen is it? Not as long as there's someone looming over us .... The security guard yanks Sharon back into the store by her arm. 'Caught her in the parking lot', he announces. Let go of me - you're hurting my arm, Sharon protests ... Paul sounds all serious as he speaks to Heather - we need to talk - it's about Adam.
My Thoughts: Why would Reed and Summer be allowed to stay up late eating ice cream (tonight of all nights)? Who wants a cranky baby fussing throughout the wedding - and Summer won't be any better. A child who's just come out of a coma - and reverted to taking afternoon naps, shouldn't be kept up late on the evening before a 'big day'. Her concern valid, Vikki still manages to come off as being petty ... Does the sitter left responsible for two children know there's a lunatic on the loose? Has she wondered what's up with all the heightened security? .... Real life couple, JT and Vikki, actually do 'estranged' more convincingly than the scenes they're supposed to have chemistry in ... How is it that no one's noticed Nikki's the only one not smiling at her own wedding rehearsal? ... With the amount of jewelry Nikki owns, it seems odd that Vikki would notice her 'beautiful' new necklace (which is more like inexpensive kid's costume jewelry than something anyone would bring attention to) ... The William's family is weird - Why didn't Heather hug her Uncle Todd? She hasn't seen the man in years. Mary's 'not up to going out tonight' - so skips out on one son's rehearsal dinner - to go out to have dinner with the other son .... The most gorgeous, handsomest man that ever existed? When did Kay become such a big fan of JT? ... Why does Victor always stare off into the night through a window? He'd be able to see about as much as Adam. Nikki too - she stares off into the middle of the restaurant then declares that it's getting kind of dark out there? Could it be because it's night time?... I know you're still upset with me, Victor's so astute. Of course Ashley is - it's not like she's gonna get over it from one scene to the next ... If it's 'way too soon for company', why is Tyra over at Neil's? ... The hospital was keeping Cane updated on Lily? I'm surprised DR Liv didn't put a stop to that (as Lily and Cane were obviously separated) ... First night both being away from Summer? Nick talks like both he and Phyllis have been trapped in their house for years - when their devotion has only lasted a week ... Phyllis really thinks she and Nick will never be boring? Wrong. The once smokin' hot couple are barely room temperature as is ... Why wouldn't Victor and Ashley remove that annoyingly huge bouquet of flowers sitting between them on the table? How can they even converse over it? ... Why is the ghost of Sabrina so mean? I know she's a figment of Ashley's imagination - but why would Ashley tell Victor that she was 'such a wonderful woman' - then have her come back as such a beyotch. And why do the blood stains on the purple dress move around? Now, there's two additional blood stains (to the one Mary Jane finally noticed after wearing the dress for over 24 hours) .... Cane won't overstay his welcome? In Neil's eyes, he did that coming through the front door ... Why is Tyra wearing a full length gown to the local coffee shop? And why does she have a different coloured nail polish on each nail? ... Neil's talks about the need for 'positive energy' - but the pessimist then speaks so cynically about Lily's future ..... What an interesting dinner party - for Phyllis especially - as she clinks glasses with the groom - the PI who still doesn't know she ran him over with her rental car decades ago - and then with his daughter, Heather - the woman who put her behind bars once - then recently had her falsely accused of child abuse ... If that's not love, I don't know what is, Nick ends his toast. You said it Nick - you DON'T know what love is - and him talking about being married to someone til they're old and gray is ridiculous. Only if Phyllis grabs some Clairol on the way home is there any likelihood of them being together when she's 'old n gray' ... Kay thanks the Hellstrum's for picking up the dinner tab - sure 'saved me a bundle' she chortles - like she's low on funds .... Who's computer did Cane use to access the Internet? And where is he staying since Billy threw him out of the trailer?
