At the mausoleum, Billy's the sole (and reluctant) guest at Chloe's pity party. Yes, he's with Mac - as usual, poor, dumb Chloe's the last to know. He'd like to see Delia as much as possible. After the divorce? There - Chloe said it - isn't Billy proud?
Nina takes her new Detective son out to the club for a celebration dinner - and gives him his first case - that of a young man who won't admit he has a crush on a particular married woman. Chance claims there's nothing going on with Chloe - but he sure wishes there was. Nina looks like she's lost her appetite.
Cue the dastardly duo's dramatic Natasha and Bullwinkle music. Glo swats Jeffrey off the ham and swiss she's made for MJ (who's on the patio - and looks terrible). Au contraire - Jeff thinks she looks like a million bucks (of Victor's reward money).
Mac serves Cane and Philip a free 'thank you' soda - if it wasn't for them coming to GC, she wouldn't be the proud owner of this fine drinking establishment. Don't give away all your profits, her wise fellow bartender advises. He'd be happy to have his brain picked - him staying in GC depends on his son - but Cane can NEVER go back. As Mac's curiosity is postponed by a customer, Cane and Philip hiss at one another about the slip up - oops - sorry. Cane's plans? He can't abandon Lily at a time like this - but might - if it's best for her (which is certainly what Neil thinks). He'd do anything to be with Lily again. Mac returns - now why can't Cane go back to Australia?
At the condo, Neil's not impressed to hear that Lily's hoping to see Cane that night. Don't make contact, he instructs. He sees them getting closer again - sure, it'll feel good - Neil knows she still loves him - BUT - did she forget it's game night at Devon's? Lily'd rather stay home - and hope Cane visits. Neil worries she'll get reattached - and when she most needs her strength - Cane will break her heart again (jeopardizing her recovery). This is the biggest challenge of her life. Sorry - but Neil just can't allow it.
Roxanne assures she'll be back in plenty of time for game night - she'll bring Scrabble - love you - bye. Tyra's not at all happy to hear Neil and Lily are coming over. She's had a hard night. He should have asked her - she DOES live here too. Devon thought she'd be happy her 'boyfriend's' coming over. Great romance hit a snag? he taunts.
Chloe's cute, hip and funny. Nina understands why Chance might be attracted - but you don't know the whole story. She tricked Cane into marriage. Billy was the father - but didn't want anything to do with the stalker. But Chance 'digs' Chloe - what you see is what you get. In fact, if he's to be honest, Chance thinks Chloe very much like his Mom.
Billy reminds Chloe that they aren't exactly Romeo and Juliet here - but something beautiful came out of this; Delia. They'll handle this like civil adults. Delia's his priority. Until you and Mac have kids, Chloe pouts - then she'll grow up the way I did - an orphan, alone.
Gloria serves MJ a sandwich - with extra pickles - it's free. Jeffrey comes along with coffee - mind if we join you? MJ thinks Jeff looks familiar. He cackles - must have one of those faces. So - tell us about YOU. Poor MJ claims she ran away from an abusive husband - escaped with her sweet darling Kitty. A horrible dog got to him, she cries. As she packs up to leave, Jeff offers their guest room - why NOT invite a stranger to stay with them? Doesn't a shower with a big fluffy towel sound good? The Bardwell's believe in karma - and knowing what it's like to be down and out, vowed to help others in need. They'll go pack up more food - think about it - we'll be right back. But when Jeff goes back out to the patio, she's gone. Don't just stand there - go find her! Glo orders.
Back at Devon's, Tyra refuses to discuss Neil - and why is Devon being so nasty? Devon hasn't forgotten his gripe with Tyra (who thinks him like Neil - hot and cold). You chased him when he was married and now you're complaining he's not 100% into you!? Tyra's not some villain - relationships take work. You're not IN a relationship, Devon points out - you WANT to be - Neil's got too much on his plate. Tyra SHOULD leave - then she wouldn't have to put up with this 'garbage' - stop talking about it and just go already.
Great - a million bucks just flew out the door! 'Closed' sign in hand, Jeff then announces that it's time for everyone to leave the coffee shop - thanks and see you soon.
'Nope, haven't seen him all night', Mac hangs up the phone - then tells Jerry to 'drink up' (as that was his wife she lied to). Philip's amused - looks like Mac doesn't need any pointers. She again wonders why Cane can't go back to Australia. Too many bad memories, Cane prefers to 'just leave it at that'. Mac's pleased to see MJ - and hearing someone's following her, takes her back to her 'old room'. Philip pays the tab - then assures Cane that he'll do the right thing.
Neil continues to make his case. Cane lied for two years - we can't believe a word that comes outta his mouth. Lily explains her side - 3 months ago, she was on her honeymoon - had an amazing husband, a beautiful home - Cane bought Jimmy's and she was gonna model til they had kids. And now her wonderful future (and everything else) is gone - just like that. As she faces chemo, being with Cane makes her feel less vulnerable and alone. She loves Neil for looking out for her - but if she wants to see Cane, she WILL.
At the mausoleum, Chloe comes down from checking on Delia - she's fine - for now - but soon, when Billy and Mac start having kids, she'll be second best. Billy disagrees - he loves Delia. Chloe wants Billy to have full custody - he can give her what Chloe can't.
Still at the dinner table, Nina continues to campaign against Chloe (who's lining Chance up for when Billy dumps her for Mac). Lighten up - we're just friends, Chance reassures - she's made some mistakes - we all have. Nina's sure Chloe will try to trap yet another Chancellor man. Philip comes along - laying a trap for a Chancellor man? THAT'S a blast from the past.
Neil lets Cane in - and makes it clear that this is a visit - not his first step back into their good graces. Neil won't be won over. With all due respect, Cane's not there to take advantage of Lily while she's sick. Lily eavesdrops as Cane vows he'd rather return to Australia than stress her out because THEY can't get along. Australia might not be far enough for Neil.
Tyra's not going anywhere til Anna gets back from music camp. How many times will you uproot that poor child? Devon's starting to think Karen would have made a better mother. Yes, I said Karen. Remember her? Neil's ex wife? She always put Anna first. You're complaining about Neil not being into you - while his damn daughter has cancer! Do you remember that? What man would want to be with someone so selfish and insincere - me. me. me. He softens when Tyra starts to cry. I'm sorry, he puts an arm around her. And then, Tyra turns to him and initiates a kiss (that Devon returns).
Neil hovers over Lily for a bit longer - then scowls at Cane (who thanks him and tells him to have a good night). Now alone, Lily apologizes for Neil being hard on him. Cane can't fault Neil for being protective of her. Lily heard him mention Australia - is he thinking of going back there?
Mom trapped you into marrying her? Chance is curious. Grinning, Philip just finds it amusing that Nina's warning her son against someone like Chloe. Nina pretends to be insulted - what your father's cleverly hinting at is that she has insight into what Chloe's up to (though is embarrassed to admit it). Philip confides to Chance that people thought Nina loved him for his money - and the Chancellor name - but she loved me for who I was. He's just sorry he didn't realize it til now. Nina thinks Philip sweet to say that. So, how does Nina know Chloe's not the same way? She's an excellent judge of character. Pressured to admit she COULD be wrong about Chloe's motives, Nina agrees to give her blessing - IF it lasts 20 years. Good with that, Chance will hold em to it.
Chloe admits that Billy having Delia full time isn't what she wants - but it's best for Delia. You're a good mother - she needs you, Billy asks Chloe not to be so pessimistic - we'll share custody. Fine, Chloe agrees - and you get your bright, shiny tomorrow with Mac. Settlement? Chloe doesn't want his money. Billy knows that. Chloe admits she should have given up on their relationship as soon as she realized what Mac meant to him - but you know why I didn't, right? Billy does - and without further word, leaves Chloe to look heartbroken.
What is Jeff doing drinking beer at Jimmy's? He's supposed to be looking for MJ! It's hot out there, Jeff's shirt is sticking to his back - he figured she might come here. She's not in your beer glass - and with a million dollars on the loose, Glo's sure as hell not gonna spend the rest of her life pilfering donuts for her son - let's go! As they exit, MJ peeks her head out.
Cane's not going back to Australia - not now, not ever. Thank God, Lily heaves a sigh of relief. Cane doesn't want to cause friction between her and Neil. Lily needs him - she can't go through this without him - say you'll stay. Cane promises to be there for her.
Devon and Tyra are getting hot and heavy on the sofa as Neil and Roxanne meet at the front door. Getting a well timed business call that summons him away, Neil hands over the box of goodies. Tell Devon I'm sorry - we'll do game night next weekend. Loaded down with games and treats, Roxanne lets herself in - then looking devastated at what's going on inside, silently slips back out.
Back at CL's, the frustrated Bardwell's bicker over who's fault it is that MJ took off. She's still out there - at least we're the only ones who know she's not looking so 'sharp' anymore. Soon, they'll be back where THEY belong. Can't happen soon enough for Glo - rolling her eyes about the coffee house, she thinks 'this' is getting real old.
Now alone, Nina thanks Philip for the kind things he told Chance about their relationship. Yes - Nina loved Philip - not his money. Perhaps if he realized that then....? But no - Philip was in such pain - nothing could have kept him there (and isn't sure anything can keep him there NOW). Look at the turmoil he's caused returning. Nina encourages him to stay - he IS making progress with Chance. Philips' convinced - I'll stay.
Chance returns to find Chloe moping on the sofa. No need to apologize, he fixes her hair. Now, what is she crying about? Divorce? Well, Chance has a joke to cheer her up. Knock Knock - who's there? A guy - a guy who? A guy who'd really like to take you out sometime. Yes - on a date. Chloe thinks his timing's perfect - she'd love to go out on a date.
When Mac's too busy to hear his great news, Billy suggests she hire some help. Wish granted - Cane arrives for his shift. Huh? Billy's not impressed that she actually hired that son of a .... You and Oz here have a pleasant evening, he storms out.
Next: Victor answers the phone - who's this? It's your partner in crime, MJ replies ... What's that? Abby asks her Mom (as she fiddles with an ornamental panel on the wall) - looks like a spy cam ... Sharon calls Nick - I need to see you. There's something you need to know about.
My Thoughts: Two free club soda's is Mac's way of saying thanks to Philip and Cane? Wow. Yeah, don't 'give away ALL your profits'. How much can two glasses of club soda cost. She couldn't even splurge and add a slice of lime (and Philip likes his with a slice of lime AND lemon) - she didn't even add ice cubes. If Mac wanted to say thanks, she should have given them each a bottle of fine Scotch or sumthin'. She IS a Chancellor heir. And with the point being made that the drinks are free, why does Philip leave money on the bar? ... How could Cane being in town help Lily 'medically'? Emotionally yeah - but medically, no. And if Neil's worried about Cane jeopardizing Lily's recovery, he should know that her pining away for him isn't good for Lily either ... Euuuw - Devon's making out with his pseudo Aunt (and, if she had her way, stepMommy) ... and why does Devon have to ask Tyra's permission to invite his Dad and sister over? It's HIS place - and if Tyra doesn't like it, she can stop being a GUEST any time she likes - and move OUT. It's not like Devon needs her help to pay the rent. Didn't Tyra just finish saying she's not a home wrecking villain - then she makes a move on Devon (totally ignoring that he's in a long term relationship)?? Didn't Devon just say 'I love you' to Roxanne? And he KNOWS she's on her way back - KNOWS she has a key. Doesn't look like game night's gonna be much of a success ... Neil's supposed to be a gentleman - why would he give that huge box of treats to Roxanne (who's already loaded down with games) - couldn't he carry it inside for her? And why would Roxanne just slip out without saying anything to the boyfriend who's cheating on her!? Shouldn't she be yanking off a high heel to hurl it at Devon's head? Had there been ANY attempt to develop her character during the 2+ years she's been on the show, we viewers would feel much sorrier for her. As is, she's never been much more than a walk on part ... Whatever happened to Devon's promising career in business? Wasn't he touted as being some prodigy whiz kid? (even if the touting WAS mostly by his biased father) ... Hmmm - Did Devon really mean to say that Neil's worried about his 'damn daughter' fighting cancer? Or was the line supposed to be that Neil's daughter's fighting 'damned cancer'? ..... Billy and Chloe are the last two people with the capability to handle anything in a civil or adult manner .... Check out MJ scoffing down the pickle - if she's as starved as she appears, wouldn't she go for the nice big sandwich over the side of pickles? ... MJ thinks Jeff looks familiar - but doesn't recall their conversation at the club? What happened to the dress she was wearing the other day? Dirty or not, it's better than the grimy trench coat she's got on again ... Glo's right - MJ IS treated like she's invisible - as she parades around town with a million dollar bounty on her head (which is concealed only by the brim of a hat) .... If the Bardwell's are so bound and determined to get the reward, why did they leave MJ unattended? Why aren't there any 'wanted' posters taped all over the place? ... Knowing the Fisher's are low on funds, why would Glo and Jeff take it upon themselves to throw out paying customers and close the place? ... According to Chloe, Delia's fine - she just had a bad dream? How does one know that a baby had a nightmare? ... If Chloe wants a parakeet, what's to stop her from getting a parakeet? She doesn't need to be with Billy to buy a bird ... Nina thinks it 'rare' that people change? Yet SHE went from scheming golddigger to a woman known as moralistic and honest. People change all the time in GC - villains are often transformed into the good guys. Ask Baldwin ... Neil doesn't think Australia 'far enough'? How far would he like Cane to move away to? ... Devon wonders how many times Tyra will uproot that young child? Yet HE'S the one pressuring her to pack up and move out ... It's SO hot out there that Jeff's shirt's sticking to his back - yet Glo's cool and fresh in a sweater layered OVER a T-shirt? (otherwise known as 'the Daniel').
