At the Baldwin's apartment, Mike reads Daniel the riot act for busting into Deacon's suite - and how did he get his hands on his flash drive?! Of COURSE he has a copy of the Terroni - he's trying to buy it. Come to ME from now on, Mike orders. Daniel refuses to back down - not when his freedom (and everything that matters to him) is at stake!
No way in hell Amber will marry Deacon - she's going straight to the DA (to tattle that he knows about the third guy in that alley). So what? Deacon will just deny it - if she wants to save Danny Boy's name, she has to take HIS. Walking out the door is a big risk (one Amber takes - sure she can prove Daniel's innocent).
Ah - look who it is, must be date night at the club, Chloe sneers as the playful couple Billy and Mac arrive.
Not surprisingly, Lily can't sleep (the night before her first chemo treatment). She's done her research - and is 'terrified'. Cane plants a gentle kiss on her forehead - it'll be OK.
You crazy kids on a date? No - Billy doesn't have 'a problem' with it. When the maitre 'd informs that he gave away the tardy Billy and Mac's reservation, Chance insists they join him and Chloe. Taking a seat, Billy quips about buckling up - there's turbulence ahead.
You sure you want me to go through with this? Ryder talks to Deacon on the phone - what about the girl? Deacon assures Amber will come around - just sell you sob story to the 'chippunk' - Fisher's our ticket to livin' large. Hanging up, Ryder joins Kevin (who wonders if he can trust Ryder - then asks about Deacon Sharp). Someone saw you leaving his hotel room - are you working with him? Tell me - or confess murder to the cops, Kevin ultimates.
Daniel worries about the mounting evidence against him - and now Ryder's getting cozy with Kevin. Lauren stands by her man - doesn't Daniel know that Mike's up every night working on his case!? Amber arrives at the condo - apologizing for interrupting. She's living here now? With my lawyer? This girl's the reason my life's screwed up, Daniel rants - that's just fantastic Michael!
Cane rubs Lily's feet - assuring her that she'll live a long, healthy life. You're strong. He too has done some reading - many have beaten the odds. Lily's freaked out by the side effects; nausea and dry mouth - losing her finger nails - weight fluctuation. Cane holds her close - it'll be OK. Weeping, Lily doesn't want to lose her hair - will Cane still love her if she does? Of course he will.
Lauren explains that SHE asked her friend to stay. Well, Daniel just saw her 'friend' with Deacon. Huh? Amber whines that she just wanted to help Daniel. Mike blows another gasket - is it too much to ask that ONE of his client's do as he asks?!!!! Just keep your damn mouths shut for a change! As Mike stomps off, Lauren warns that they're giving him an ulcer - he can't keep cleaning up their messes. Lauren insists Amber's staying (though she SHOULD be going home with Daniel - who she's only trying to help). And after Amber leaves, Lauren explains the sacrifice Amber made - how could Daniel let someone who loves him that much walk out of his life. It's always about Amber, Daniel marches out - and finds her crying in the hallway. Hang on, he calls Amber back as she's about to bolt.
Dude, don't call the cops - Ryder just asked Deacon for a job (that he didn't get). He knows nothing about a murder in any alley. No - he wasn't the guy in the ski mask. But as Kevin's questions turn to accusations, Ryder admits he DID kill Thomas Balfour. He didn't mean to - but couldn't take it anymore - you of all people should know what it's like. You think YOU were abused? I'm not a bad guy, Ryder insists.
Chloe proudly talks of Chance stopping a fight - he would have made an arrest except it involved her friend. You have friends now? Billy quips. Sweet? Billy finds it irresponsible. Chance is unlike any guy Chloe's ever dated - loyal and kind - it's refreshing. Billy puts an arm around his date - kinda like me and Mac. And when Billy scoffs at Chloe making Chance out to be some super hero, Chloe asks if he's jealous (to which Billy kisses Mac's shoulder).
Over OJ, Cane and Lily discuss her losing her hair. You'll always be beautiful to me, Cane assures. Lily would rather shave her head than have her hair fall out in clumps. Why wait? Cane supports whatever makes Lily feel better - Yes, he'll shave her head - now.
Lauren massages Mike's shoulders - and debate whether it was a mistake to have Amber live there (or a mistake to defend Daniel). Lauren suggests he learn to say NO - to all, Glo and Kevin included - there must be limits. Lauren married into a tribe of trouble makers. Mike agrees to set better boundaries - this is his LAST case involving friends or family.
In the hallway, Daniel gives Amber his blessing to stay with the Baldwin's. Oh yeah - he's just great - suspected of murder and just broken up with the woman he thought he'd marry. I did it for you, Amber weeps. Don't say that again, Daniel mutters - he doesn't know who's telling the truth anymore - and is looking over his shoulder, waiting for the feds to haul him back to jail. He isn't sleeping, eating or painting - his money's running out - and his best friend is gone. In tears, Amber will never stop loving Daniel - it's forever. Without further word, Daniel gets on the elevator.
Ryder tells Kevin that Balfour was really Ray Alkens - an abusive friend (and ex cell mate) of his equally abusive father's. His Dad used to lock him in the cellar with the rats. He'd cry and beg to be let out - only to be told to shut up. Coincidentally Kevin's Dad used to call HIM a cockroach too. Alken used to lock him in a tool shed - and beat him like his father did. Ryder had to make the torture stop. When forced to wear the ski mask, Ryder knew Ray was up to no good. He just lost it - trying to stop Ray. It all happened so fast. I'm no killer, Ryder asserts - I had to make the pain stop. Kevin's stunned to hear that Ryder's father was named Tom too. And where did they live? Green Bay. His Mom took off when he was little. He heard his Dad's dead. Yeah, Kevin CAN relate. Ryder feels he's found a kindred spirit in the Chipmunk. Tom's last name? Callahan. Kevin advises Ryder to come clean - confess. His brother's a great lawyer - he'll help. Ryder refuses - he won't make it in prison - it'll be like being locked up in the cellar again. Trust me, Kevin implores.
Amber's back with Lauren - she can get the charges dropped against Daniel but has to do something repulsive. Wouldn't Lauren do anything to help Mike at any cost? Lauren tells Amber to think it through - don't do something she'll regret for the rest of her life. Amber won't - IF it saves Daniel. In the kitchen, Mike opens a beer - then gets a call from Kevin - what's up?
When Billy asks who's watching Delia, Chloe quips that she left her in coat check. Both needle the other about not being home with her. As they ask for the check, Chance insists on paying. Next time it's Billy's treat. You ARE an optimist, Billy throws down some money for the tip. Watching Mac and Billy leave, Chloe wonders what she ever saw in him.
Lily takes a deep breath - then snips off her pony tail (which she'll donate). Ready? Yes - both are. Smiling, Cane gives Lily a kiss, then proceeds in shaving her hair off - large chunks falling to the floor.
Chloe talks about Billy being a pompous ass - he'll dump Mac when he's bored of her. Chance believes Billy doesn't want to see Chloe with anyone else. He also wonders why Chloe (who claims to be over Billy) keeps talking about him - she needs to figure out what she wants. Chloe wants to have fun - something she WAS doing until they were rudely interrupted. No, Chance's evening wasn't ruined.
Back at the trailer, both Billy and Mac declare the night a total disaster. Mac thought it was an opportunity for Delia's parents to get along - but didn't realize how far apart they are. Changing the subject, they decide ~kissing~ is more fun than talking.
While Ryder waits inside CL's, Kevin's on the phone with Mike - explaining that he confessed to killing Balfour (aka Ray Alkens) in the alley. Why did he confess to Kevin, a stranger? Duh - he's the chipmunk. He's NOT a friend of Deacon's. Meanwhile, Ryder calls Deacon to tip him off that he was seen leaving his suite - and to get their story straight - you turned me down for a job. Back on the patio, Kevin relays that Ray Alken did time with his Dad. If true, Daniel's a free man, right? As Mike gets his phone out to call the authorities, Kevin adds one last thing - I promised Ryder that you'd represent him - pro bono. Back at the club, Amber returns to Deacon's suite.
Naked and under the covers, Billy and Mac talk about where she'd like to go - anywhere in the world. Mac thinks it sounds like Billy wants to get out of GC - away from Chloe. Mac knows Billy loves her - but he has unresolved issues with Chloe. Billy pities Chloe - No, wait - he pities Chance (who has no idea what he's getting into).
As Chloe and Chance leave the club, she initiates a kiss. I like you, Chance confides - but knowing she's still hung up on Billy, won't be her rebound guy. OK, Chloe agrees. And both smiling, hand in hand, they head out.
Lauren's surprised to get a visit from Daniel (who's thought about what she said - and knows Amber still loves him). She should come back home, Daniel's decided. Lauren hopes it's not too late - she's about to do something really stupid. Uh oh - looks like it COULD be too late. In Deacon's suite, Amber agrees to marry him if he clears Daniel and never messes with his life again.
On the patio, Mike balks at the idea of representing the man who railroaded Daniel. And how dare Kevin offer his services - free of charge no less. He's tired of being taken for granted. What if people started asking Kevin for free coffee and food? Not this time! Mike stands to leave. Kevin then drops the bomb - he thinks Ryder might be his brother.
Cane declares Lily gorgeous - then hands over the mirror. Lily warns that she might burst into tears - but feels good about it. She gasps at her bald reflection - oh my God. Sure it's a shocking sight - but she feels exilerated at taking control.
My Thoughts: If not for his family and friends, who would Mike have to represent? Has he ever HAD a paying client? Aren't they ALL pro bono? 'Are you crazy'? Mike has the good grace to cut off the last word - but understandably isn't pleased about Kevin having the nerve to volunteer his services (and just after he made a deal with Lauren that he'd stop representing friends or family). Mike really needs to manage his temper though. Never mind working on an ulcer - he's working on a massive coronary. I'm sure the other building's residents wish Mike would be the one to 'keep his mouth shut'. And he seems to forget his young son's sleeping ... How does Lauren know that Amber 'hated' being with Deacon? Cause she said so? She's a pathalogical liar (who just got caught in her lie that she wouldn't see Deacon). And why would Kevin believe anything Ryder says? He lied about knowing Deacon until Kevin forced the truth out of him ... How did the canoodling Mac and Billy NOT spot Chance and Chloe? Their table seems to be placed directly in front of the front revolving door. You pretty well have to walk around it to access the rest of the restaurant .. And how could the club NOT hold Mac and Billy's reservation - Chancellor and Abbott heirs can't be expected to wait 45 minutes to eat for heavens' sake. Good thing Chloe and Chance were given a table for four instead of two. There's no other restaurant in town they could dine at? ... Shouldn't Lily have cropped her hair a bit more with the scissors - before taking the shaver to it? No way that tiny gadget would shave her head - and so closely too. Kudos to the actress for sacrificing her hair for the role .... If all Cane cares about is making Lily feel better, why doesn't he shave HIS head too? Lily references Britney Spears and Sinead O'Conner - other women who shaved their heads - but they aren't the most stable of role models ... This girl is the reason my life is screwed up, Daniel whines - like he didn't manage to screw it up before Amber ever came along ... Why on earth would Chance feel the need to warn Chloe not to 'overnight a pizza to Iraq'? I just can't see her having occasion to do that ... Mike doesn't find it a shocking coincidence that the guy who confesses to killing Balfour just might be Kevin's brother? Never mind that Kevin didn't even know he HAD another brother. It's almost as far fetched as Kevin being married by the man who just so happened to be the long lost father Mike had been searching for. With all the longshots the Baldwin's hit, they should be at the horse track or buying some lottery tickets.
