Briefcase in hand, Jack's at CL's when he gets Jeff's call. Yes, he has the 2 million and whomever this is better not be jerking him around. In the van beside Gloria, perched in front of a laptop, Jeff assures more instructions will come - like where to leave the money and pick up Mary Jane. Hanging up, they now watch Victor arrive (also with a briefcase) at the lockers at the bus station. Payback's a beautiful thing.
Walking into the cabin, Colleen immediately unties Patty (who whines that she was drugged and held for ransom). Standing, Patty wonders how she can ever repay Colleen (who's starting to look nervous) for her kindness.
I have a kid brother, Kevin couldn't be more delighted (as the unsmiling Jana examines the DNA results). He'll be the best big brother ever - like Mike was to him. And with Mike as his lawyer, Ryder's as good as free. As Kevin runs out to call Mike, Jana agrees - oh yeah, it's incredible alright - almost impossible to believe. Undeterred, Ryder gives his reluctant new sister in law an unwelcome hug.
On the patio, Amber's stunned by Daniel's proposal - is it a noble rescue mission or does he really want to marry her? Daniel wants to get a JOP right away - tonight. On cue, Deacon arrives to put a damper on things (telling 'sweetie' to let Daniel down easy - rejection can be a killer).
The Baldwin's arrive at the jail - where Jana shares her suspicion that it's a con. Mike trusts Lauren's shrewd judgment of character - no one's gonna put anything over on us (and won't let Kevin get hurt). As Mike, and then Lauren joins the happy brothers, Kevin makes introductions - forget the Mr Baldwin, mia hermano es su hermano, right? Now let's get my brother out of this rat hole. Mike wipes the smile off both brother's faces - he has no intention of taking the case.
As Daniel insists Amber marry him tonight, she wails at Deacon to leave them alone. Daniel sees no reason why she should be trapped. But Deacon does, and shows them - Ryder's statement (recanting his confession). Ryder has an airtight alibi for the night Balfour was killed - but YOU were in the alley. 'Danny's' looking at hard time, for murder. Ryder does whatever Deacon asks him to do, confess, recant, do the hokey pokey. Come on honey, we've got a wedding to plan, he grins at Amber (who looks torn, trapped and teary).
When Jeff gives Victor a call, Glo tells him to smile - he's on candid camera. I'll damned, Victor looks into the camera - now what? He opens the briefcase, as instructed. What now? Jeff instructs him to put the briefcase in locker #17. Remove the key and go to locker #162 - remove the contents and leave the key inside. OK, Victor obeys - now what. Head North on Route 12 - they'll call him with MJ's location.
Patty now has Colleen tied up (for looking at her like she's an evil monster). Colleen thinks boasting that Jack's her uncle will save her. But no - Patty William's explains who she is. I've knows your Uncle Jack for years and years. You were married, Colleen saw the pictures - if she'd known, she swears she wouldn't have been afraid. Please - let me call my Uncle Jack. Patty doesn't want to hear that liars name. Searching the place, Patty's happy to find a gun - and look, there's bullets, to make things easier. And how nice of Colleen to bring the getaway car, Patty leads her captive out.
The Bardwell's now watch Jack at the same locker room. He too shows the contents of his briefcase - which he puts in locker #18. He's told to put his key in locker #183. In the envelope, he finds Patty's location. The Bardwell's mock the 'death stare' Jack gives the camera - cackling that he just realized his prize is at his own cabin.
In the jail's visiting room, Kevin badgers Mike to take Ryder's case - we're family. Lauren asks about Ryder's Mom (who up and left him with Tom one day) - and why did he seek out Kevin? Luck? fate? Ryder shrugs - he had no idea he had a brother. He admires that they're looking out for Kevin - and is just grateful that they found one another. Lauren's interrogation over, Mike still refuses to defend Ryder.
Back at Crying Lights, Amber will treasure Daniel's proposal for the rest of her life - but it's over now - she won't risk his life being ruined. She's ending it the only way she can. You'll be free to move on with your life, she gives Daniel a tender kiss and hurries off. She's a keeper ain't she? Deacon sneers at Daniel (who's left to scowl alone).
Kevin continues to plead his brother's case - what do you want from the guy? Blood? Do it for ME? Mike didn't say never - he just wants to check things out first (a decision supported by Lauren) - much to Kevin's annoyance.
Daniel updates Jana that Ryder confessed to give Deacon an ax over HIS head - and if Amber doesn't marry Deacon, he's in trouble all over again. Jana wonders if Deacon's lying (but understands Amber protecting the man she loves). I'll get us all out of this mess, Daniel vows.
In the van, The Bardwell's pop the cork on the celebratory champagne. We're millionaires again. They'll get their cameras out of the bus depot when the next bus comes in. If only they had a camera in the cabin - to see Victor and Jack's faces.
First at the cabin, Victor finds it empty - where the hell is she? Jack's next to arrive - and curse the double crosser's - someone's having a pretty good laugh. Jack then corrects Victor - there IS no Mary Jane Benson. She's a fictional character YOU invented! You took an emotionally disturbed woman and turned her into a criminal! Whomever the hell she is, Victor vows she'll pay.
With Kitty Kitty along for the ride, Colleen wonders why Patty stopped the car - then tries to ingratiate herself to Patty by asking about the kitten (and talking about how she couldn't have one growing up). Aunt Patty, Colleen tries - and is sorry her Uncle Jack hurt her. People are expecting her call - and will start looking if she doesn't. She'd be happy to explain things if they can only go back to GC. Alas, Patty sees no happy ending for people like her. In tears, Colleen's willing to make things work - if she is.
Still at the cabin, Victor wonders how Jack didn't recognize his own ex wife (after again taking her to bed). Jack claims that ALL Patty's crimes are on HIS head. You've destroyed your own world all by yourself. Victor warns that if Jack doesn't stop pushing, he'll see destruction like he never thought possible.
Patty can't go back to GC - too risky. She's already lost too much - what will be, will be. Colleen admits she's really scared - please, take me home. We can make this right. Patty then realizes that Colleen's tried to make a call to JT (on the cell phone that drops to the floor of the car). Damn you! You tricked me - just like the others! You Abbott's - walking all over people! Pointing the gun at the sniveling Colleen, Patty knows just how to handle her.
Now at the club's bar, Deacon gives Amber and Daniel's farewell, 4 hankies out of 5. He's taken care of all the wedding details - all she has to do is show up, look gorgeous and say I do. Exciting isn't it?
On the patio, Daniel demands Jana's phone - then dials 911 and tells her to report an obnoxious drunk who won't leave (to have Daniel thrown back in jail). Lauren sees something in Ryder's eyes that make her blood run cold - she's seen that look before. Where? Ignoring the question, Lauren insists Mike NOT take the case (while she and Fen are in Toronto). Mike agrees - but will look into Ryder (for Kevin's sake).
Kevin assures Ryder that he'll get him another lawyer - there must be some way to get their hands on some money. Ryder mentions the painting Tom used to taunt him with (worth mega bucks). Kevin bites - what happened to the painting? Ryder doubts he sold it - he couldn't find it in the house. Did you say Terroni? Kevin's all ears - his buddy Daniel was hired to forge it - coincidence? Hey - he's got a key to a safety deposit box (left by Tom) - the Erie Federal Bank in Detroit. Yeah, he still has it. You think it's the painting? It's gotta be worth millions - and could be the answer they're looking for!
Victor answers a call - from his banker, Jack realizes. This is adding up to big money. But wait, Victor won't be taken advantage of - and Jack's no dummy..... Cut to Gloria and Jeff hauling the briefcases into the van, for the 'big moment'. On the count of three ..... 1... 2... 3.... After a few moments of gasping over the money, Glo can't wait to roll around naked in it ~kiss~ Glo can't resist touching it - it's been booby trapped. Both are covered in confetti and blue ink. Damn them! Glo seethes.
Colleen tries to claim the call to JT was accidental, and pleading, she's forced out of the car at gunpoint. Take the car, she begs. Patty goes around to the passenger side - get out!!!
Next: I didn't betray you, Traci denies (with Billy, and a guy in a suit, in the background) Ashley screams at Traci - You keep saying how Victor's controlling me - but YOU'RE all controlling me!!!!! .... Who told you Tom had the painting!! Daniel repeats as he shoves Ryder against the bars. Help, Ryder bleats .... I'm sorry, Billy says. You SHOULD be sorry - we may have lost our sister for good! Jack scolds.
My Thoughts: Hasn't Colleen seen ANY news coverage in the past 2 weeks? Didn't follow the church stand off? Or see her Godfather's press conference? And only AFTER she unties Patty, does Colleen realize who she is? No one thought to let Colleen know there's a psychotic woman on the loose? Odd that it never came up during her many chats with JT (her ex who's on the case). Even assuming Patty WAS a victim, wouldn't Colleen worry that whomever drugged and kidnapped might still around? Why not call 911? And later, in the car, If Colleen's smart enough to get her hands on a cell phone, why wouldn't she try to buy some privacy? Claim she has to go to the bathroom or sumthin'? And why call JT? Risk the chance of getting his VM? or Vikki picking up? Why not call 911? But with all Colleen's whimpering and groveling, I'm kinda rootin' for Patty to shut her up. How convenient was it for Patty to find that gun - AND bullets at the cabin ... When did Lauren become such a 'shrewd' judge of character? Musta been AFTER her arch nemesis (Phyllis) had surgery to look like her BFF (Phyllis) - taking her place for weeks without the 'shrewd' Lauren catching on. And if Lauren's so smart, why, when asking about Ryder's mother, didn't she bother to ask the woman's name? How could she have 'no further questions'? ... Jana's had her 'fair share' of cons? How much IS the average person's 'fair share'? And is Jana saying she's done some conning - or has BEEN conned? Guess she's also had her 'fair share' of murder and art theft too. But GC's also had it's fair share of inaccurate DNA results. At the very least, there should have been 3 DNA tests done on Ryder ... Did you follow me? Amber squeaks at Deacon. Better get used to it - she could have a lifetime of Deacon following her around (but really, she's not THAT hard to find. If she's not at the club, it's a safe bet she's at CL's). Still not sure why Deacon feels she's such a 'keeper' - and if this is Amber's last farewell to Daniel, why didn't she give him a more memorable kiss (than slobbering on his forehead)? Why hasn't Kay been involved in Amber's latest crisis? ... LOL@ the Bardwell's - one moment so happy as they salivate over their three million dollars - then not so much seconds later, when covered in paper bits and ink ... Jack seems awfully indignant that the kidnappers led him to his 'OWN family cabin' - where was his indignation when his OWN wife was cheating with her ex - on the floor of his OWN family cabin? ... Where did the Bardwell's get the money to buy all the high tech Acme spy gadgets? Or were they using Kevin's left over cameras from his days of spying at Jabot? How is it that the bus station's locker room was unpopulated long enough for a bonehead like Jeffrey to install the cameras anyway? Did he walk in with a ladder over his shoulder? You'd think the bus station would already have security cameras of it's own installed - and a guard patrolling around.
