Eny, meeny, miny, mo - who will be the one to go? Patty's youth? Innocence? Dreams of having a child? Jack took THAT away. I was young and stupid, Jack admits. Patty wasn't ready to lose him back then - but is now. Victor speaks up - that man's worth nothing. You'll go to prison if you shoot him. He can have a helicopter whisk her away to wherever she wants. Just stop it! Patty spits - then blames Victor for trying to buy her - and ordering her around. Victor wants a chance to put her life back the way it was. Patty returns to Jack - Mary Jane was everything he wanted - worldly, desirable - a woman you could love, right? Why didn't he? Give me the damn gun! Victor lunges - then falls to the ground, with one shot - then another rings out. Groaning, Victor lays on the ground. I'll call you back, Paul hangs up and runs - leaving the Abbott's to worry about what sounded like gunshots.
At CL's, Vikki tells Nick that JT called at 4 AM. No sign of Colleen. Nick was on the phone with Phyllis at that time - he told her what went on with Victor. Nick seems angrier that their father brought a 'ticking time bomb' to town - one he couldn't control. Vikki admits it's hard to keep loving their father.
Adam finds Ashley packing. Yes, she's dead serious. When Victor gets home, she'll be long gone.
Oh God! a panting Patty drops the gun and runs away. Victor!? You got a phone? Jack rummages through his pockets to grab his phone - and a hanky. Hold this! (against the wound). As Victor groans, Jack barks his whereabouts into the phone - one victim's a drowning - she's barely alive - the other's been shot - three times. Hurry! It's gonna be alright baby, he reassures the unconscious Colleen. Over here! Paul and JT are directed over. And while JT tends to Victor, Jack bends uselessly over Colleen, telling Paul to go get the 'insane' Patty - she's limping! You can catch her - go! And as JT continues to stoop over Victor, Jack does the same with Colleen, urging her to 'breath, breath'!
Continuing to pack, Ashley rants about her husband manipulating a mentally unstable woman to get back at her brother. She's beyond upset. Even when it backfired, Victor STILL didn't tell her the truth. She feels Adam should be angry too - she was on the grounds - being blind, how could he protect himself? Adam's only concern is her and the baby - how about some tea? There's no proof other than Jack and Paul's say so. Wait a minute - Ashley never mentioned Paul. Adam stammers - he came and confronted Victor - going on and on that Victor was responsible - with NO evidence, he adds. Not believing it, why would he tell Ashley - it's lies. You're gonna walk out? With a baby on the way? Yeah, Ashley is - and needs to finish packing. It's your life, Adam slams out (and in the hallway, calls DR Taylor - we've got big trouble - get down here now).
Billy's frustrated that no one's answering their phones - maybe they can't get a signal out there. HE can sit by the phone if he wants - but Traci's going to find Colleen! At that moment, Chance drops by - with devastating news.
Still at CL's, Nick plans to be at RS for the day - making him wish their Mom was there. Vikki's off to NE (hoping Victor won't be there). She gets a call - no! And devastated, leans into Nick's embrace.
Arriving at the ranch, DR Taylor's ordered to somehow keep Ashley in this house. But no, DR T thinks perhaps it's time. Adam reminds what he holds over DR T's head. He knows it'll blow up soon anyway. The truth will come out when no baby does. Face it - it's just a matter of 'when'.
Ashley pens a Dear Victor 'good bye' letter. She has no choice - once again she's been naive. He hasn't changed. Beating down her brother is more important than SHE'S ever been (to him). You brought Patty to town - then did nothing when she wreaked havoc. You allowed that woman to torture me - kill Zapato - and injure your granddaughter (who may never be the same). How does that feel?
Nick and Vikki arrive at Memorial to hear Victor's en route still. Chance updates what little he knows - both victims are still alive. Billy, Abby and the Connelly's also arrive to console one another. Chance relays that Patty ran off (and is being searched for).
Paul finds Patty at the ranger's station. It's me Pattycake. Crying as she cradles her Kitty, Patty weeps as Paul comes over - glad she's alive. Not for long, Patty sniffles that she was bitten by a Northern Widow. No, she doesn't want a doctor. She's done terrible things - and doesn't want to live without Jack anyway. Please, let me die.
Wheeled in on gurneys, Victor's taken straight through, while Colleen's worked on in the hallway. She's cyanotic! the doctor calls out. Mommy's here, Traci shouts over - then falls apart as Colleen's gurney's rushed to ICU. And as Jack, his hands covered in blood, hugs Traci, Vikki falls into JT's arms. Barely able to speak, Jack relays pulling Colleen from the lake - he couldn't do CPR the whole time. I couldn't do anything, he looks desperately helpless. As JT holds out hope (as both are still alive), Vikki's horrified to realize it's the same lake Brad drowned in.
Paul cradles Patty as he gives her a shot to counteract the spider bite. There, it's over, he coos with a hug - we'll get through this. Paul promises to take care of her this time. Through her tears, Patty claims she lost control - she didn't mean to hurt anyone. They're gonna take me away, she cries - don't let them. Make it all go away, she pleads.
Jack tells the Connelly's that Patty shot Victor in the chest - 3 times - the same amount she pumped into him. He then announces to the crowd that the monster Victor created turned on him - but Jack will say this for Victor - when he was lying there bleeding, he said 'help Colleen'. Jack then tells of finding pieces of fabric - that lead him to the lake (where he saw the canoe capsized). He rowed over and saw her laying, face down, in the water. Overcome with emotion, Jack weeps that he did everything he could to help her.
A doctor then comes out for details - Colleen's no longer breathing - she's on a ventilator. That's just temporary - she'll breath on her own again, Traci's hopeful. More tests will be needed. And as the Connelly's follow the DR to see Colleen, Nick and Vikki are updated by another Dr - they're waiting for some results before surgery. Yes, they can see him briefly. Convinced Victor's gonna die, Abby wonders where her Mom is. Jack wants to wait til they know more - hoping for some good news. ****
Ashley continues her letter - now realizing that her Sabrina visions were Patty (masquerading). You couldn't risk my finding that out - but instead risked my health and sanity. Ash needs to get away - have her baby in peace. I love you - but I have no faith in you (the way he casually manipulates people). Hiding the letter, Ashley tells DR Taylor to come in. He wants to take her blood pressure - and asks how she's been sleeping. Take a sedative - lie down - get some rest, he kindly suggests. Can't be too careful given your history.
At Victor's bedside, Vikki now feels guilty about not wanting Victor to come into work today - guess I got my wish. Why is this happening? Punishment because we were so hard on him? Nick doesn't believe that - he loved us (the day they argued) - and he knew we loved him. Both feel badly for butting heads with their father - and wouldn't trade their family for anything (and know Victor feels the same way). Vikki leans in towards Victor to say how very sorry she is.
Down the hall, the Connelly's sit beside Colleen (who has large tubes leading into her mouth). DR Snyder explains the tests she's ordered. We'll know more soon.
After they pray side by side (in the chapel), Traci reassures Abby that it's not the same as when her father drowned - they found Colleen before it was too late.
Looking angrily around at all the medical apparatus, Billy takes his turn at Colleen's bedside - and in tears, blames himself for letting her go to the cabin alone. Just wake up, he pleads.
Back in Victor's cubicle, the DR informs that one of the bullets went through his lung - fortunately, the damage was minimal. The other bullets shattered against his organs - there's fragments in his heart (but he'll know the full extent of the damage when they open him up). It's possible he won't survive the surgery - but will surely die without it.
Now in the living room, DR Taylor strongly advises Ashley stay put. But Ashley assures Adam that she's leaving the ranch - and that's that.
Abby quips to Victor about how many times she warned him not to stop bullets with his chest. You should have reminded me, Victor replies weakly. She then turns to Nick and Vikki - and hearing that Victor needs surgery, thinks she needs to tell her Mom and Adam. Agreeing, Billy suggests they go see Uncle Jack. I love you too, Victor murmurs weakly to Abby. I love you all - my children, he whispers.
Back at the ranger's station, Paul gently tells Patty that she can't keep running - she needs more help than he can give her. He'll go with her to turn herself in to the kind police men - he won't abandon her. But, we've gotta go in. OK, Patty nods through her tears. And leaving Patty to take care of Kitty, Paul steps outside to call Chance - he's bringing Patty in - unarmed and alone - through the back way to avoid the press? Chance OK's it - how long before he gets to the precinct?
It's over, JT sighs to Jack (who only wishes Paul had found Patty an hour sooner).
Clutching Kitty, Patty's brought in to the police station. But when Chance reaches for her, a panicked Patty recoils. And after a lot of whining, sniveling and sobbing, Patty's taken (by Chance) to a maximum security psychiatric facility (and a devastated Paul's left holding the cat).
At the ranch, DR Taylor tries to convince Ashley to stay and rest - but curtly thanking him, Ashley sticks to her guns - and will let his receptionist know where to send the bill. She then basically tells Adam to butt out. You're my lifeline, Adam gives it one more shot. Ashley reminds him that he's free now - go make some friends. I gotta go, she wheels her luggage out. But, at the front door, an emotional Billy pulls her inside to say that Colleen was found but might not make it - and there's more - Victor's been shot and is in critical condition. Stunned, Ashley hugs him.
From his bed, the weakened Victor admits he lied to Nikki - when she came to say she still loved him. Vikki always knew that. Victor went after her - to tell her he felt the same - but she was gone. Tell her that I feel the same, he requests quietly - let her know. Vikki will - when she comes home. We have to find Mom, she whispers to Nick.
Though Traci tries to remain hopeful, the doctor returns to say she's ordered a CBF (then explains it'll let them know whether Colleen's brain dead or not). There's still hope, right? Traci almost wills it to be true. But the DR can't hold out much hope - the family should prepare for the worst.
Next: Deacon sits across from Gloria on the CL's patio - My name is Deacon Sharp and I think you and I may have something in common... Adam's at Victor's bedside - you need to live. You HAVE to live ... Ashley asks Jack - what DID happen - between Victor and Patty? You really wanna know? Jack says flatly ...
My Thoughts: Steve and I are here, Traci says at Colleen's bedside. But wait - didn't Streve say he 'raised' Colleen? But she never referred to him as Dad? ... I'm SO tired of the expression 'you lie as easily as you breath' (cause breathing is hard - just ask Colleen - the girl on the ventilator) ... Where the heck is Noah? He doesn't make it to the hospital - and never seems to be at the ranch (everyone's always warned to keep quiet so's not to upset Ashley - but no one cares if Noah overhears) ... Amazing that Patty knows enough about poisonous spiders to know that she was bitten by a Northern Widow - and that her reaction to the bite seems to have worn off without any form of medical attention .... With all this action going on - and a 'man hunt in and around the camp, WHY is there still no rangers at the ranger station? And with a potentially armed and dangerous lunatic on the loose, why isn't the door locked on the empty building? ... Chance telling the Connelly's and Billy the fate of their niece was very effectively done (as witnessed silently through the window) But where is Detective Wallace throughout all this? Why is the new guy taking over all the high profile cases? ... Don't say 'tea' to me! Ashley barks at Adam - like she has a sudden grudge against tea .. The way she's tossing clothes into suitcases, Ashley's gonna have a helluva lot of ironing to do .... Come on now Patty, it's not really Jack's fault you lost your youth - we all get older (and thanks to extensive surgery, she's not aged that badly). And if she wanted a baby so desperately, there ARE other ways (adoption, surrogacy, stealing sperm)... ... Isn't that the lake...? Vikki asks - like she's already forgotten the name of the lake her former husband drowned in? How many lakes are there in the area anyway? Can't be too many - given that both Carlton's managed to drown in the very same one. What ARE the odds? ... Jack did CPR 'as long as he could'? He should really work on his cardio then. Cause it seems to me he did a lot more blowing hot air, than blowing air into Colleen .... Surprising that bullet fragments made it to Victor's heart - given (A) he was holding his gut, and (B) He doesn't have one .... And Jack claims he was young and stupid when he married Patty? He was hardly young - or stupid - just a playboy not ready to quit playing ..... Poor Paul - assuming he's still got the majority of Nikki's crap at his house, now he's saddled with an annoying mewing kitten he didn't ask for. Wonder when he'll find the time to update Mary and Brother Todd (and Billy should really give Lily and Mac a call) .... Ashley will call to tell DR Taylor's receptionist where to send the bill? Doesn't she think Victor's obligated to continue paying for her medical coverage? It IS his non-baby after all ... Given what Jack's been through - the water - dirt - mud - grass - sweat - it's odd that his clothes look like they just came from the dry cleaners.... Blooper alert - note that when the Doctor comes in, she asks how long MRS Carl .... Ms Carlton's been in the water. With barely any lines, this lady DR manages to botch em. Where's good ole DR Liv? What was the point in having her 'privileges' reinstated if she's never on shift?
