Surrounded by boxes, Sharon turns up the stereo to dance around. Interrupted by a visit from Jack, she admits spending last night thinking about Brad and Colleen - but it's all good today. She promised her baby that she'd live her life differently now (and vows to keep that promise).
In Victor's room, the doctor's so impressed with his progress that it's soon time to talk about a release date. Now alone, Nikki's happy - and assumes Victor is too. You can go home. Mmm, home - that sounds nice, Victor agrees quietly.
Ashley's, at that very moment, carting Faith around as she's having a Newman servant rearrange the furniture to accommodate the bassinet. Sure, that end table can be moved into the den - Mr Newman won't mind. Now alone, Ashley now hangs her first framed photo of her and Faith. The spot where the Sabrina sketch USED to hang is the 'perfect' place for it.
Meeting JT on the CL's patio (late), Vikki claims she's not walking away - but getting an important message (regarding yesterday's meeting), all but runs from her disappointed husband (promising he'll have her full attention tonight). Sighing, JT makes a call - he hasn't talked to his wife yet - but whomever's waiting for his answer WILL get it tonight.
At NE, Adam's dictating notes into a recorder (for Dana) - adding info that (for some reason he can't fathom) Vikki didn't include in the meeting. Overhearing, Nick scolds him - and who's Dana? The intern Vikki assigned to do his typing? Yeah, well - this intern doesn't need Adam's personal thoughts - leave the commentary out of it. As Nick marches off, Adam hits 'play' again - and instructs Dana to scratch the last part. Flashing back to the conflict with Nick at Memorial (it's only beginning - you just don't know it yet) - he'll do it the boss' way - for now.
Vikki instructs an intern - then is approached by Adam (who hands over his Savaneur analysis) - Yes - 'already' - it wasn't brain surgery. If there's nothing else, he'll call his driver? Vikki thanks Adam for getting this to her so quickly - and has he seen Nick? Informed that Nick had a lunch meeting, Vikki explains that Noah's school sent over the homework he missed (while taking time off to be with Victor). Heading to the ranch, Adam offers to drop it off. Vikki appreciates that - it's nice of Adam. He IS doing his best - and hopes Vikki will meet him half way.
Rolling up his sleeves, Jack has some time before going to see Ashley at the ranch. Sharon's curious when Jack hurriedly closes the box he'd just opened. Jack realizes he's 'doing it again' - trying to protect Sharon. He unpacks Cassie's framed drawing - hiding isn't the answer. Sharon's decided to 'move on' (and is sure Traci will too - in time). She then sends Jack off - knowing he's 'dying' to see his niece. Yes - she'll call if she needs anything. Now alone, Sharon finds a spot for Cassie's drawing - I'm doing it girls - I'm doing it, she says with determination.
When Nikki lectures Victor not to jump back into work too quickly, Victor groans - but no need for the doctor. He's merely spent too much time in bed. And his heart still hurts sometimes. But never mind that - he wants to hear all about Nikki (who was building a 'new life' - but put that on hold to come tend to him). Of course it matters, he assures when Nikki seems reluctant to discuss it.
Faith still in her arms, Ashley's on the phone with the Reverend about the Christening - but ends that to take another call. It's a law firm that came highly recommended. Ashley doesn't want the divorce to drag out for years - she wants it over and done with (and for her daughter's to get everything they're entitled to).
Still at Victor's bedside, Nikki explains that she had to get away from it - Denver was the next flight out (and as good a place as any). She missed the kids - but found comfort in waking up not knowing what was to come that day. Victor felt that way at the monastery in France. Yes - Nikki found peace (and it's still with her). Victor wonders if she plans to return to Colorado - or stay in GC.
Nick finds Vikki in the conference room. What's she doing there? Hiding from her assistant. Yes - she's still getting calls regarding the Savaneur meeting (but nothing she can't handle). Nick thinks they ought to issue a second statement (re: Victor's health) - including the 'key parts' Vikki left out. Our necks are on the line. Sure that Victor will be released soon, Vikki doesn't think the details will matter. Has Nick seen Adam's notes? Hate to say this - but he nailed it (and fast). Maybe he really HAS turned a corner. Though Nick's not convinced, Vikki reminds that stranger things have happened.
With Faith sleeping, Ashley 'shushes' Adam as he delivers the box of Noah's homework. He's living with Sharon now - but Nick can pick it up. No need - Adam will have his driver drop it off. As Ashley runs off to answer the phone, Adam admires the sleeping baby. Hey you - it's your .... it's Adam. He picks the infant up - I know your first few days were a bit crazy - but everything's fixed - almost everything. He screwed things up with her real Mom (and will never be able to fix what he did to her) - but her new Mommy's strong and capable now. Count on Adam to always make things right. Jack marches in - get away from my niece - NOW.
As Adam gently returns the sleeping baby to her bassinet, Jack doesn't want HIS influence anywhere near that child - nobody's buyin' that he grew a soul because he's got his hands on a baby. When Ashley comes in to scold Jack for picking a fight, Adam takes the high road (heading off to deliver Noah's homework). You know what he's doing, don't you? Jack snarls. Ashley does - Adam's putting into motion his master plan to deliver Noah's homework. He doesn't give a damn about Noah, Jack snarls - then is sat down (and told not to gloat) to hear about the divorce. Jack's sorry to hear that - if she detects a smile it's because he's got a nursery all ready at the Abbott home. But Ashley plans to raise her children at the ranch (just like Nikki did when she divorced Victor). Wow - welcome home Ashley Abbott - Jack's impressed (salivating at the idea of Adam and Victor being thrown out). But the smile's soon wiped off his face. Adam's not leaving - he's welcome to stay as long as he likes.
JT shows up at NE - sorry but this couldn't wait. He got a call from a friend on the force who moved to a security firm in New York. They're looking for someone to head up their corporate division (and the pal recommended JT). Vikki looks stunned - New York City? It's just an interview - but they need to know today if he's interested. Vikki quickly shuts the door - you leaving me? What? No - JT wants her and Reed to come with him.
Victor's pleased to hear Nikki plans to stay in GC. She may or may not go back to RS - who knows? Victor quips that she should go to medical school. When Nick arrives, Nikki leaves them to talk (commenting that Victor's been keeping something from her all day). Nick chuckles as Victor grumbles about the changes to his diet - then explains he's there to talk about Adam.
Trying to get a good phone connection with Noah, Sharon heads out the front door - and is surprised to find Adam there. Hanging up, she hears that he was just dropping Noah's homework off. Sharon insists he come inside - we'll catch up. Picking up the box, Adam proceeds inside.
JT makes his pitch - how about a little brownstone in Brooklyn? Get back to what makes the three of them work so well. They're surrounded by ghosts in Sharon's old place - and Victor - everything that makes them 'wrong'. As expected, Vikki mentions the company - and that her father needs her. WE'RE your family - me and Reed - WE need you, JT counters.
Taking his arm, Sharon navigates Adam around the boxes - and is surprised to hear he's back at NE. Adam quips that hell must have frozen over while Victor was in the hospital. Sharon's sorry - she didn't mean ... She sees his second chance as a start. Adam isn't so optimistic - she doesn't know the things he's done. Sharon knows more than he thinks - she knows about him and Jack forging the diary (and is sorry he got mixed up in Jack's feud with Victor). Adam feels he's the last person who deserves Sharon's sympathy.
Back at the ranch, Jack tries to convince Ashley to evict Adam. But she won't budge - Faith's taken to him. She's taken to anything shiny - but Jack won't leave her alone with a switchblade. And how Victor will feel - thrown off the property - but JR's allowed to stay? If he doesn't agree - he's in for the second fight of his life, Ashley stands firm.
Now cradling Faith, Jack doesn't understand how she can finally be wise to Victor - but oblivious to Adam. Ashley then gets a call from Nikki (who mentions the kidney incident - and that Victor's 'different' somehow). Can she please bring Faith by to visit? It would do him the world of good. Ashley will see what she can do. But when Ashley relays Nikki's request, Jack's not on favour - today a visit - tomorrow, a petition for sole custody. Despite divorcing Victor, Ashley will NOT allow her daughter to be used as leverage - or a weapon to punish anyone. The war's over - we all lost - move on.
Nick admits that Adam clearly knows the business world. The problem? He's untrustworthy. With his foot in the door, next thing he'll be holding press conferences - wrestling for control. Victor assures that won't happen - yes he DOES know that. Victor slowly manages to stand (as Nick gapes - stunned). It's not gonna happen because this is not Mexico - and Victor's getting stronger by the day. If Adam has a problem with that, he's gonna have to deal with me, Victor concludes weakly.
Seated on the sofa with Sharon, Adam thinks her too generous - he's not exactly a victim. But yes - he DID for his crimes - still is. Adam admits he wanted Victor dead - but seeing him near death, realized he'd be nothing. Having given up so much for revenge, is that all he's about? Sharon did some terrible and selfish things herself (like sending her friend off into a snowstorm- but was forgiven. Yeah but, Adam ruined people's lives - is there a point of no return? Sharon thinks not - he and Victor have to make peace. Adam flashes back to tattling to the Securities division. Making peace with Victor? Sooner said than done.
Vikki continues to resist the move to New York - her mother's back in town, Victor's recovering from surgery. Sure, Nick can manage NE (which JT feels she's choosing over him) - but who know what Adam has up his sleeve? They need to be a united front. WE need to be a united front, JT argues - we're drowning - and NO - they can't work on it in GC. She's always at NE or off finding a painting for the foundation. Don't even mention Deacon's name! Knock knock - who's there? Mr Kranston (and his badge) from the enforcement division of securities and exchange.
Still at the ranch, Jack puts the diaper bag over Ashley's shoulder. Yes - she's ready for this (and not afraid of Victor). SHE has the control - of her emotions and her life (ever since having Faith). There's nothing she can't handle. And off they go.
As Mr Kranston wants to speak privately with Vikki, she shows him to the door. Her assistant will take him to her office (where she'll meet him in a moment). See why I can't leave? Vikki's exasperated. Her decision was made when the SEC showed up. Sorry - but I have to go deal with this. JT makes a call - I'm in - set up the interview.
Over coffee, Adam continues their discussion on making peace with Victor (who's convinced Adam's out to ruin him). Adam swears he had no agenda in coming there. It never crossed Sharon's mind that he might. Sorry - Adam just feels he's picked on whenever he walks into a room. Sharon can understand - oh, the cracks and whispers after her first arrest. It doesn't last forever - people forget. Not Adam's family. Tell Sharon about it - Nikki thought her a gold digging tramp who tricked her son into marriage. Victor forgave the son who turned him into the Feds, she reminds. What? NICK turned him in for commercial bribery? That's news to Adam. Oops - Sharon now realizes she may have said too much.
In the hallway, Nick informs that Dad's more and more like his old self every day. Go take a look. Nikki's horrified to find Victor walking around. He doesn't need a team of nurses to control him - he has the best one right here. Faith in her arms, Ashley approaches Nick (who marvels how she's grown). She's sorry about his baby. When seeing her last, Nick didn't want to ruin her day by mentioning it. As he's Faith's brother - so no matter what happens between her and Victor, Ashley hopes he (and his family) will remain in her life. Wanna hold her? In Victor's room, he ignores Nikki's scolding - he doesn't want her to leave. You're home.
Next: Am I in trouble? Vikki asks Mike (who answers that it looks like someone's trying to make trouble FOR her) ... You want a job here? Phyllis asks Billy (as Chloe hovers). No - he wants to publish RS ... Holding Faith, Victor's stunned when Ashley asks for the ranch as part of her settlement.
My Thoughts: Will any promise Sharon made to a dead baby be null and void once it's realized that said baby is not dead - but alive and well, flourishing under the maternal light of one Ashley Abbot? Just sayin' .... Since Vikki's husband has something important to discuss, why couldn't Vikki's urgent business wait a mere 20 minutes - or why couldn't Nick handle it? He's not doing much else - other than spying on Adam and visiting his Dad in the hospital ... Doesn't Adam, as JR Vice President, get his own office? But - since he's ready to call it a day at lunch time, I guess his position is part time (and therefore, not in need of an office or briefcase even) ... If anyone gets credit for Vikki having the meeting's notes in her hand so quickly, shouldn't it be 'Dana', the intern who does the fast typing? And why isn't Adam a 'quick typist these days'? Surely, he's mastered the QWERTY keyboard by now, being a Harvard grad and all ... Which nitwit NE employee directed the SEC guy to the break room? Shouldn't he have been stalled in reception (and Vikki paged and alerted to his identity?) Instead of being blind sided? ... Will there be any doubt as to who tattled on Vikki withholding information? And really - is it that big a deal? Victor's prognosis is good ... Why does Adam feel it necessary to ride along with Noah's homework? And why was it ever delivered to NE? Noah doesn't work there. Nick's only out for lunch - couldn't the homework wait an hour or two? ... Couldn't the driver make the delivery? Plus - Noah has his own new car - isn't he old enough to be responsible for getting his OWN schoolwork? Plus - when did he miss all this time at school visiting his grandpa? He didn't even make an appearance until the transplant had been done ... What the heck is in all the boxes Sharon's got scattered all over the Carlton manor? Eyeing the boxes, Jack says she's 'making it work'. Sure, if the plan was to make the place look like a production warehouse ... Is Victor really surprised that his heart hurts 'sometimes' - he DID just have heart surgery - isn't some level of pain to be expected? That's what pain meds are for. Surely, some can be included in his 'transplant cocktail'. Or maybe it's Colleen's way of haunting him - having the last laugh by inflicting Victor with chronic heartburn ... How does Victor figure that Nikki was 'building a new life' for herself, in the Rockies? She was at a SPA - getting mani/pedi's, facials and massages is hardly building a new life .. If Nikki's not even sure she's returning to RS, when does she plan to do Phyllis the courtesy of giving her some notice? Why isn't anyone ever worried about making those rapidly approaching deadlines anymore? ... Never mind Adam's lack of morals and abundance of evil - and never mind it being unsafe for a blind guy to be carting around a baby (in a room that's furniture's just been rearranged) - but it's a big no-no to pick up someone's baby without asking the mother's permission ... Making it through the ranch's diligent security team, Jack then barges through the front door without even knocking! 'Get away from my niece!' he bellows - another bright idea - startle the blind guy holding an infant ... Oh please! Vikki would have entertained JT's idea of moving to another state 'a few months ago'? The devoted daughter would have left while Adam was under house arrest (and living at Daddy's ranch) ... With her mother about to get married? Or after she vanished? When everyone was up in arms over finding MJ - or with Summer sick in the hospital? Honestly, there's no drama free time that Vikki would have readily left her family to fend for themselves. And she certainly wouldn't have moved to NY during the whole Terroni thing we now know she was up to her neck in. JT never stood a chance - no way Vikki's gonna pay rent - and pound the pavement looking for a job ... How could Nick possibly tell that Faith has grown so much - in just a few days - maybe the blankie she's completely swaddled in is just bigger ... Why the big deal about Sharon being unable to get reception with Noah (at her new home). Can't be THAT far out of town (given how folks drop in and out). Colleen never complained of reception issues - neither did Brad. Eh bien - I'm sure Adam's stored that little tidbit of info away for later use .. Why would the Reverend be calling Ashley to discuss Faith's christening so soon? The kid's just a few days old? Plus, the parent usually initiates the Christening arrangements ... No Sharon - you don't 'sound like someone who's spent too much time around shrinks' - you sound like someone who's spent too much time around 'dinks' ... 'No way!' Sharon hasn't heard that song 'since she was a teenager'? Really? She listened to swing music as a teenager? (while most were listening to Duran Duran or some boy band) ... Why would Sharon feel the need to 'catch up' with Adam - it's not like they've ever been friends.
