At the ranch, Ashley, Traci and Adam are dressed to impress (as is Faith, in Colleen's Christening dress). Adam can't imagine what he'd do if he ever lost a child. You honour them, and life, Traci fights tears to bravely answer (causing Adam to flashback to placing Faith in Ashley's arms - tell Sharon her baby died, he snarls at Dr Taylor). Having an errand to run, Adam will have his driver take him to the church (but pauses to look guilty as Traci gushes over the baby).
Jack joins Kay on the patio - to whine about Jill's press release (which didn't even mention him). Two opposing forces guiding one company won't work. Kay knows all about Jill's downfalls - but Jabot's sales are down - and Jill has a track record. So do the Abbott's, Jack argues. Kay stands firm - the glory days of Abbott control are over.
Mac follows Billy into RS. My elevator, my lamp, my employees, my desk, my world and print domination, he blathers. Chloe hands over a press release announcing he's taking over - then comments on his and Mac's unhip attire. Oh yes, the Christening. Billy stalls Chloe on publishing the release - there's a few people he needs to tell in person. He then scowls at the new cover (celebrity pets we love) You serious?
At NE, JT gripes about Vikki leaving without speaking to him. No, she's not avoiding him, just busy (with the Christening and all). JT needs to talk - at home. But can't tonight - he'll be in NY for the job interview. Vikki's surprised - and guesses he's punishing her for Deacon.
Sharon greats Reverend Bennett, then, after a few words, heads off to her bereavement session. Moments later, Ashley and Traci arrive. Beautiful day for a Christening - and Ashley can't believe the blessing in her arms is 'mine'.
Phyllis and Nick arrive at CL's, raving at how excited Summer is to go to school - and how well she's doing after Switzerland. And now it's time for house hunting. Phyllis wants Victor to get better - but can't forget what he did to Summer. Nick points out that they have some time (as Victor's still recovering). Let's get through the Christening - then deal with the rest.
JT denies the interview's about Deacon. Victor survived - and she has time for everything else but talk of their marriage. Vikki strikes back - HE'S the one running off to NY. Having lived on Victor's land (and having him sign his paychecks), JT appreciates the interest the NY company has shown in HIM. It might be a good fit. Vikki disagrees - how can NY be a good fit!? And when Vikki's summoned away for business, JT shakes his head - of course she has to go.
Jack claims the Abbott's didn't fall apart - they lost a member. Kay denies it's about Colleen - the problems at Jabot started before that. Mary Jane was hired to fix Jabot's PR problem - and look how that worked out. John's vision (of having his children carry Jabot) may not be possible. Jack stands firm - assuring that Ashley and Billy will be back - in full force.
At the church, Phyllis and Nick chat with Billy (who asks that they keep the RS business between them - and not tell Jack). All then gush over Faith (dressed by Abby - who spent an hour on each of Faith's four hairs). An awkward moment ensues when Adam arrives. Excuse us, Billy ignores Adam as he leads Mac off. Adam's brought a gift - a crucifix that belonged to his mother. Nick and Phyllis simmer as Adam speaks to Faith, while gently caressing her head.
Jack and Phyllis have a few friendly words - but let's not talk about Victor. How's HE doing? (both look over at a moping Nick). Phyllis knows he's thinking of the baby he lost with Sharon. She can give him space and time but can't fix it. When did you become such a good wife? Jack quips.
The Hellstrum's continue to bicker as they arrive at the church. IS it so wrong for JT to want to get away from 'all that' (including Deacon) - to have a life of their own - ON their own? Are we ready to begin? the Reverend can be heard. ARE we? JT asks his wife (who pastes on a smile and marches in).
With the guests now seated, the Reverend puts everyone in their places (and mentions that the father can't be there today). I'm right here, all turn to see Victor walk in (with Nikki on his arm). Where would you like me to be? Beside me, Ashley invites with a smile. As Victor politely asks Traci if he may hold the baby, Nikki takes a seat beside Nick.
Traci holds Faith, with Adam beside her - as Ashley announces the baby's name; Faith Colleen Newman. Traci turns in surprise (clearly not informed of the middle name). And as the Christening proceeds, Kay eyeballs Jack (who sits beside her). Colleen lives on - in her cousin, and father of her cousin, the Reverend preaches - and asks all in attendance to watch over, and guide this child. Let us rejoice, the Reverend wraps it up. Adam takes his Goddaughter briefly, then hands her back to Traci. And as all go to sign the baptismal certificate, Nick's asked to hold the baby. Hearing the baby's soft cries, Sharon pauses at the door - devastated at the sight of Nick holding the baby. Spotting her, Adam looks troubled.
Aside, Traci approaches Victor - to thank him for being so accommodating (as she really MUST get back to NY). Hands on her shoulders, Victor claims it's a day no one should miss. She recalls him standing up for her - as Colleen's Godfather (and now she's standing up for his daughter). The world is full of surprises. With a hug, Victor declares Faith lucky to have Traci in her life. Now in tears, Traci promises to take her role as Godmother seriously - and openly sobs as Victor places her hand in his heart. My girls is gone - but you take care of your daughter, she hurries off. Kay then comes over to comment that it's a bit soon for him to be up and about (and that he came with Nikki). When Billy comes along to speak to Kay, he acknowledges 'Victor'. Excuse me, Victor ignores him and walks off . Son of a .... Kay shuts Billy up 'save it'.
Nikki tells Vikki that Victor gave no one a choice in him leaving the hospital - she sure didn't encourage him. And as she notices something's not quite right with Vikki, Mac approaches JT (who stands alone at the door). With a hug, Mac initiates small talk - hoping Faith will be like Colleen (who always took chances). Yeah, JT agrees (mind on his own problems)
I'm your Daddy - you're a Newman - I'll teach you everything, Victor whispers to the daughter he cradles. Jack sits in the pew behind - don't worry - you're also an Abbott and I won't you or anyone else forget that.
Kay arrives at RS. Well, you did it - it's a lot of hard work, and every month a new magazine fails. Jack claims he'll come back to to Jabot. Nope - Billy's on his own now. Kay thinks him like her - he has guts. Yeah guts, Billy shows them the new cover - is this ME? No, Kay has to agree - it's a smart angle - the world needs a distraction. But one that wears diamond collars? What does it take to change this? he asks Chloe. A whole cover story? Money and time they don't have - and something to replace it. is he really that worried that people will think Billy Abbott has lost his edge? Ready to leave, Mac talks about how perfect Faith is - but NO, she's not ready to have one yet. Babies are life - our future - they change lives, Kay encourages - it works.
At Chloe's desk, she and Billy talk shop. Hold the presses, he orders - this garbage can't be his debut. What will? A tell all - about a smug old bastard who walked into a Christening battery powered by Colleen's heart. He'll lay it all out - how Victor Newman had his niece killed, then had the gall to take her heart. Chloe reminds what Kay just said - the public needs distraction right now. This is what we do best, Billy coaxes - laying the smack down on some jerk who deserves it. The printer's waiting, Chloe reminds. No problemo, Billy will write the story himself - and call the printer in a coupla hours.
Still at the church, Ashley's so glad Victor got out of the hospital today - and thanks for not fighting her on the ranch (a perfect place for the girls to grow up). Gently kissing Faith on the head, Victor walks over to greet Vikki (who's worrying about his health). ~hug~ Yes, he's fine. He then announces that he and Ashley are divorcing (and she'll stay on at the ranch). He has some thinking to do - and will let them know when he's made some decisions. (Those living on ranch property don't seem too disappointed at the thought of Victor NOT coming home).
Adam surprises Sharon - he saw her at the chapel and could tell she was upset. Come in, Sharon invites - I'm fine. Well, she's a wreck. She explains how she was at the church for a bereavement meeting - then handing him the engraved bracelet, blames herself for her daughter dying. It wasn't you, Adam assures - what the hell are these bereavement people telling her? Sharon's convinced her past actions are to blame. If only she could take it all back. You have nothing to be sorry for, Adam says - he's done things he couldn't fix if he tried. You don't get it. We're not in the same universe. Yes - he does know - and she SHOULD know. You have to know now.
The Hellstrum's bicker their way over to NE. With the SEC still on Vikki's back, she doesn't appreciate his lack of support (running off to NY). THIS is our home. YOUR home, JT corrects. And when she refuses to leave, JT accuses her of being just like her father - and who wants to be married to Victor Newman? (other than Nikki). Take that job and you won't be, Vikki snaps. Kiss Reed for me, JT will call when he's checked in. The Hellstrum's glare at one another as the elevator doors close.
Also at NE, Phyllis and Nick talk about Victor reconciling with Nikki - and how subtle of Nick to ask if he was coming back to the ranch. No need to go house hunting. Then read that, Nick slides over a contract offer - for a job at NE. He'll have to check out her resume and references - do a little background check ~kiss~ And as he locks the door, Phyllis hops up onto the desk (which is soon swept off for some 'interfacing').
Adam confesses - not only has he caused pain and damage, by screwing with people's lives, but he also screwed his gay lawyer, to keep him on his side. Sharon's clearly stunned (but covers it well).
At the church, Jack gives Traci a farewell hug. She then says good bye to Faith Colleen - and barely able to utter a few words to Ashley, hurries out. Do you think she'll ever want to come back - to all the painful memories? Ashley worries. She'll be back, Jack assures. Until then, it's the three of them. We've all got Jabot in our blood - we're a team. Hey - perhaps Ashley can talk some sense into Billy? Too late - Ashley already loaned him the money to buy RS. Why?! Jack's aghast - it's a time to stick together! It's time to let go, Ashley quietly replies.
Victor's in a suite at the club - with Nikki right down the hall if he needs anything. I'm fine darling, Victor assures - his things are being sent from the ranch. Nikki still feels he should be there. The ranch is for the children, Victor feels it's time to move on. When this divorce is final, you and I ... Nikki stops him - not yet.
Chloe lives for gossip - but the socialite on the cover will freak if she's pulled - and there's a deadline - and advertisers. When did you become such a 'buzz kill'? But Ok, Billy will wait on his expose. Shoo - go on home now. He'll call the printer. Thanks for the heart attack on your first day - that was fun, Chloe exits. Billy then calls Mitch to introduce himself - now dump the cover story - he'll send a new one asap. Turning to the computer, Billy grins - OK, Victor - let's have a little fun.
Next: Mike has dire words for Adam - You may think you're about to get everything you want, but I'm here to make sure that doesn't happen ... The night I left GC, you came looking for me, what did you want to say? Nikki questions Victor ... Seated at a computer at RS, Jack coaches Billy - You wanna bring down old Mumbles? Watch and learn.
My Thoughts: Something tells me that Phyllis is gonna land that job at NE - and get a nice salary too (and let's hope it's HER desk they're smearing with their DNA) ... Who cares if the socialite on the cover will freak out (if she's dropped). Lily barely made a whimper when she was ousted last minute ... Yeah - so the only blind guy in the church is the only one to SEE Sharon gaping at the sight of Nick holding a baby? AND he could tell - from across the room - that she was upset. .... Nice that JT attends the christening of another child - but can't even go home and kiss his own kid? ... Nick's obviously more interested in checking out Phyllis' backside than her background ... With Summer reportedly deliriously happy at school, why did Ashley schedule Faith's Christening in the middle of the week? Why not wait for the weekend? And having just missed three weeks of school (while in Switzerland), would it kill Summer (no pun intended) to miss another morning of school - to attend her ... um ... Aunt's Christening? Where's Reed? Abby and Noah couldn't get out of 'placement tests'? Never mind Ashley not caring if Faith's father could attend - she didn't find it important that her sister attend either (after spending 'hours' on Faith's hair) ... The Newman's blather on ad nauseam about what great parents they are - and how nothing is more important than family - yet, the kids are ALWAYS home for FAMILY occasions... Why didn't Ashley have some kind of celebration after the Christening? Victor should have continued with his plan to reserve the private dining room - and just invited everyone over .... 'May I hold the baby'? Victor politely asks of Traci - duh - It's YOUR baby, Victor. And no need for you to be kissing Traci's ass anymore - it's not like she can take the heart back ... When Billy calls Mitch (who's supposedly waiting for nothing more than a go ahead) - why does he NOT react when Billy calls to dump the cover story - and replace it with his own? And since Billy did NO work on this issue - why does it have to be announced THIS issue that he's bought the mag? Wouldn't it be wiser to announce the change NEXT issue? To put his name on something he actually had a hand in creating. But wait - since Billy's put a hold on the Chloe's release, how will this issue even reflect on him? Is he even familiar with what type of magazine RS is? And if he's so opposed to the content, why not start up his OWN magazine? ... Is a hastily penned expose how Billy wants to debut? Why not take time to do some investigative journalism - get some facts - quotes. Without verification, his 'first tell all', could very well lead to his first lawsuit. That said, Victor deserves what he gets (for so rudely, and needlessly, snubbing Billy at the church) .... Gee Vikki - can you say the name DEACON a few more times? Just in case your husband's forgotten for a moment what a cheater he's married to? ... If Kay wants Jack and Jill to work together, why can't she at least acknowledge that Jill was out of line in releasing a statement without asking for anyone's approval? She's the one not doing her part in working as a team ... Looks like Victor moving will prevent a mass exodus (that sigh you hear is GC's real estate agents - who've just lost hefty commissions) .... How can Victor be happy about his one room suite at the club. Having lived in a sprawling ranch, the billionaire is now cooped up - with his bed in the same room as his sofa! Has he forgotten Newman Towers - and the great penthouse there? or maybe (since Phyllis has been squatting in his tack house for years), he can go to her penthouse. How long will Phyllis let the Bardwell's reside there rent free - without utilities and water? The fridge must smell nice (never mind the toilet that won't flush without water). Where will Victor put his 'things' that are being sent over? ... The oblivious Reverend prattles on meaninglessly about those gathered guiding baby Faith, blah blah blah. Clearly he doesn't know that the role of Godparent means nothing to those who stand before God and promise to do this and that. Victor clearly modeled HIS Godfather role (of Colleen) after the mafia movie of the same name (as he did all but plant a dead horse head in her bed) - and let's just see what kind of hand on Godmother Traci turns out to be - with Ashley convinced she won't even come back to GC ever again? ... Why is Traci so surprised to hear that Faith's middle name's Colleen? It never came up in conversation whether the child would have a middle name - and what that might be? And when going to sign the certificate, why would Traci choose Nick to hold Faith? (as Ashley and Victor were both done) - and Billy and Mac were both standing by idly. She has Newman eyes, Phyllis comments - Ha! You don't know the half of it sistah ... You used to support me, Vikki whines. Yeah, well - you used to be faithful to me (JT shoulda responded - then walked off, pinching some secretary's ass on his way out) .... Oh Adam, I'm no homophobe - I don't really care about his sexual preferences - but do I really need to hear how he kept Rafe 'on his side'? On his front - on his back. I don't wanna hear about the positions - it's just TMI (too much information) Adam.
