At Jimmy's, Billy continues to make it very clear that his GF won't be carrying Cane's baby (and he's NOT mollified when Cane dares to mention the 'D' word). Lily will need to find another 'incubator' - and the 'pathetic' Cane? Well, he can just go to hell. I'll handle this, Mac shows Cane the door - then scowls at Billy. 'You've completely crossed the line'.
Paul chats with Dr P in the hospital's hallway. Sure, Patty's mostly living in the past - but don't give up. Proceeding to Patty's cell, Dr P checks her cell phone - whomever it is can wait.
The call Dr P's ignoring is Jack's - and so, he's leaving a butt kissing message. He doesn't like the impression he left last time they talked - the one where he defended Phyllis - and couldn't he please visit Patty? Pretty please? Dr P can be present - and Jack will be sensitive - honest. Phyllis bulldozes into the club - you gotta help me - it's Daniel! No - he's not hurt - worse - he's engaged - to AMBER! Phyllis tried to make peace with it (but clearly failed).
Get married - right here? Right now? Of course Amber's OK without the hang gliding and doves ~kiss~ They DO need witnesses (like the Fisher's) - and someone to 'officiate'. Am I intruding? Kay appears on the rooftop patio.
Phyllis continues to rant to Jack about Daniel marrying Amber. Suspected again of murder, he's just scared - and reaching out to something 'solid' (like Amber's 'solid', she scoffs). What?! Jack doesn't KNOW Amber's history? Phyllis fixes that - listing off some of the highlights - criminality - scandal - lies - she had a baby that wasn't her husband's. Why is Jack looking at her 'like that'? Phyllis' situation was entirely different - ENTIRELY different. Oh why won't Daniel listen to MEEEEE? Jack respects Daniel too much to interfere - and Phyllis better be supportive (if she wants to be the one Daniel comes cryin' to when the marriage ends in disaster). Now smiling, Phyllis realizes she DOES have until June to change Daniel's mind.
Married? Tonight? And here Kay was - searching for them all night (to knock some sense into them). Not wanting the 'hassle' of finding a minister, Daniel suggests they 'ordain' Kay online. It's EZ - a lot of Daniel's friends have done it. Kay agrees - why the hell not? And as Daniel runs off to tell Kevin and Jana, Amber calls Lauren (sure she'll be able to deliver a dress). Lauren's at the book store - for a book of Knock Knock jokes - but of course she can help with Amber's 'fashion emergency'. In fact she has the perfect dress - and will be there 'in an instant'. Updated, Daisy thinks the rooftop wedding 'so romantic' - give Amber my best.
It's fine for Billy to disagree with Mac - but don't ever, EVER speak for her! Yes - it IS a big decision - MAC'S decision. No, Billy's feelings aren't irrelevant - but they're 'unforgiving'. Billy worries about Mac bonding with the baby - being connected to the Ashby's for life. Her support when he bought RS was completely different - hello, it's a magazine - Billy can walk away if he wants to. And what if Lily dies? Billy knows Mac won't walk away from a motherless baby and a grieving father. But Mac's proud to be part of this miracle. It will all be worth it the moment Lily holds her baby. Looks like she and Billy are different people - different values - different goals. Maybe they CAN'T make a life together. Whoa, Billy's so floored, he has to sit.
Jana's horrified - you can't get married on Friday 13th. You're not invited, Daniel snarls at the nosy Ryder. It's Saturday the 14th somewhere. We'll be there, Kevin assures - um - where's there? The rooftop garrett. I don't like this one bit, Jana frets (as Kevin drags her out - leaving Ryder in charge of CL's). When Gloria arrives, Ryder's eager to talk to her - he IS Tom's son after all.
Cane visits Lily at GCM - the good news? She's to be released tomorrow. The bad news? Billy's trying to talk Mac out of carrying their baby.
Meanwhile, it's past that for Mac and Billy. Mac tried to be more like him - impulsive and reckless - she slept with a married man - broke up a family - and Raul's heart. That's because we knew we belonged together, Billy reasons. But Mac's not so sure anymore - and she hasn't forgotten that Billy hesitated in signing the divorce papers? They didn't see eye to eye on the Victor article - or Colleen's heart - and now having the Ashby's baby. They believe in different things. Billy doesn't think it a big deal - we love each other, right? Mac will always love Billy - but it's NOT all that matters.
Patty jumps up all excited - is that her wedding album Paul's brought? Nope - it's from their childhood. Here's a photo of her birthday - a green cake (that nobody ate except Paul). Flipping through it, Patty can't wait to show Jack. Still looking at the album, Patty clearly remembers an incident where she nearly drowned in a neighbour's pool - and Paul saved her - just like he did at St Jude's - and in the woods. I haven't forgotten Paulie, Patty gives her weepy brother a hug.
At the club, Dr P appreciates Jack's offer to help Patty - but the best thing he can do is stay away. But if Jack wants to help HER, perhaps he'll let her join him? Jack's grin indicates he'd be delighted.
The rooftop has now been decorated. But no, it doesn't feel like Christmas to Jana - it feels like Friday the 13th. Kay and Daniel are back - with certificates (marriage and 'ordination'). And where the hell did this big gift come from? Stringing up lights with Kevin, Murphy credits Kay - he just delivered it. When Lauren arrives with a garment bag - Amber and Jana follow her downstairs. Murphy gives Daniel a pat on the back - so great to see you happy again. I'm a minister - oh God, Kay chuckles.
Kevin and I had the same father - different mother's, Ryder insists on conversing with Gloria (who's pleased that Kevin speaks highly of her). Ryder's nothing like Tom Fisher - or at least he's trying not to be - but doesn't blame Gloria for being suspicious. Seeing Deacon glaring at him, Ryder goes over to tattle about Daniel and Amber getting married. When Phyllis walks in nanoseconds later, Deacon congratulates her - the wedding's happening right now - on Daniel's rooftop. Hmmm - a worried looking Phyllis sprints out.
Dr P asks for details on Jack and Patty's relationship. Jack has no pleasant memories - he was focused on himself - he wanted to be president of Jabot - his wedding vows meant nothing. No excuses - Jack's Dad was a great role model. Patty wasn't the only woman he mistreated - he was an equal opportunity jerk. Jack continues to surprise Dr P with his candor. He's changed since his Dad died - and his last marriage taught him a lot. And sadly, Jack now sees that his little brother's following in his footsteps.
Billy admits he's vindictive - hot headed - and yes, sleazy - but he would never give up on Mac, or 'us'. He prayed for a second chance with Mac for 6 years. His prayers were answered because they 'belong' together ~kiss~
Lily gripes about Billy trying to deprive Cane of having a baby. They can look for a surrogate - but Mac volunteering seemed like a sign. Meanwhile, Mac gently breaks it off with Billy - they aren't the same people they were 6 years ago. And even when a desperate Billy rescinds (and apologizes for) his ultimatum, Mac concludes - it's just not working.
Back at CL's, Gloria's now friendly - she's not working at CL's for the money - she's just being a good mother to Kevin. Ryder checks his watch - and begging Glo to cover for him, dashes out to run an errand. When Deacon saunters over to the counter, Glo's surprised to see him still in town. You'd be surprised how much GC still has to offer me, Deacon marches out - leaving Gloria to count the cash he left on the counter (and judging by how her eyes bug out, it more than covers his coffee).
On the rooftop, Daniel takes his spot between Kevin and Kay. And as Amber walks out on Murphy's arm, wolf whistles and 'work it girl' drown out the boom box's music. Treat her nice, ya hear? are Murphy's words as he hands Amber to Daniel. Kay reads from a sheet - she's there to join this man and this woman - who've finally come to their senses. Falling through the door, Phyllis pants - whew - am I too late? All turn towards the mother of the groom - with either a half smile - a chuckle (or in Lauren's case a 'what the hell are you doing?' glare).
Poring over the photo album, Patty continues to remember the childhood she shared with her 'hero'. But Paul wishes he'd handled things differently at St Jude's. Shhhh - Patty hugs him as she sings a song from their past. Joining in, a weepy Paul tells Patty he loves her too.
Back at the club's restaurant, an impressed Dr P praises Jack on his self awareness. Taking responsibility for Patty's demise must be quite a burden - one most people wouldn't try to carry. Well, for better or worse, Jack's not 'most people'. Definitely 'better', Dr P smiles her approval (as they clink glasses).
What happened to June? Phyllis pants. Amber gets it - before it was just a date circled on the calendar. Now the wedding is staring Phyllis in the face. She understands - but the marriage won't be a disaster - we're best friends - before we fell in love. We'll have problems - but not because Amber doesn't respect Daniel and put him first. That's Amber's vow to Phyllis. Wanna stay and cheer us on? Daniel prods. Yeah - I'll stay, Phyllis glares at Amber (who winks and gives her the thumbs up). Oops - the Romalotti's forgot the rings - so Amber will use her engagement ring - Daniel will borrow Kevin's. Kay then talks about the love story of this unique couple - the ups and downs - but she never once doubted that they belonged together. Amber wonders what Dr Drew and Stryker would say if they knew Herb and Marina were getting married. Phyllis continues to glare as Amber talks of her dreams crashing down around her - usually her own fault. Blah blah blah - Amber snivels (as Phyllis appears to be coming down with a migraine - and Jana looks like the sky might fall in at any moment).
Still latched onto Paul, Patty hums as Paul tests her memory. And as Dr P and Jack wrap up their lovely evening, Patty murmurs that if Jack tried to leave her for someone else, she'd hurt him again. She can't help herself - she just can't lose him again. And as a teary eyed Paul hugs his humming sister, Jack invites Dr P out - on a real date.
At Jimmy's, Billy's helping himself to the shots - then hears his and Mac's cheesy song come on the jukebox. Despite his punching the buttons - then vigorously shaking the machine, it just won't silence. Meanwhile, Mac finds Cane and Lily snuggling in her hospital bed. Don't worry - operation Ashby is still a go. Yes! Lily gives Cane an elated hug.
Daniel's not one for words - he can't even define love - but it looks like me and you - that picture will always last - no matter what. Even if they can't be together - they're forever. You are my world. This impromptu wedding, surrounded by all their friends is the best idea Danny Boy's ever had. By the power vested in me - by whoever it was - Kay pronounces them husband and wife. You may kiss your magnificent bride. And as all applaud, then go to congratulate the newlyweds, Lauren drags Phyllis over. But look - someone's watching through binoculars - which then drop and shatter.
Next: Dr P tells Mac that she might not be a good candidate for surrogacy after all .... What do you want? Eden asks. Inside scoop - on the Baldwin/Fisher clan, Ryder replies ... Jana picks up a present - it's addressed to Lauren. All scream - and Lauren and Mike recoil in horror as the lid's opened to reveal the contents.
My Thoughts: Jack respects Daniel? Since when? And why? Oh yeah - he sees him as a stepson - just like Nick. Just don't ask him about Kyle. Jack has no clue about Amber's history? He wasn't aware that she brought scandal to HIS family's company (when she disguised herself as Marina - because she'd married Jabot's CEO at the time, Cane) .... Why doesn't Amber have anything to wear? Isn't she a *ahem* ... designer? ... Why did Daniel have to go all the way over to the coffee shop to get the Fisher's (though he must have teleported himself there) - couldn't he just call them? I thought it was really cold on the rooftop? Remember? Amber was shivering so much Daniel wrapped his jacket around her. Good thing that brisk North wind died down, huh? Cause no one looks cold now - not even Amber in her flimsy dress ... Oh yes Ryder - Kevin's sooo lucky that Gloria stuck around (never mind that she was useless in preventing his abuse - and that Kevin still grew up locked in a closet) ... I didn't catch this yesterday before uploading - but get this - Cane told Mac 'we only have 2 embryo's'. A quick Google confirmed that I'm incredibly smart - or Cane's an idiot. Lily has 2 EGGS - NOT embryo's. The egg won't be an embryo until (and unless) it's fertilized ..... Yeah, yeah, Mac's the 'good hearted' one - and Billy's the sleazy jerk - but I understand why he's not on onboard - couldn't Mac have brought Billy in on this decision before volunteering? What's the hurry? Lily might die? So she better pop out a baby before she kicks the bucket? So it can be raised by a single father. This plan seems to be all about Lily's needs to be a mother - not the baby's needs. When was the last time Humphrey got any attention (from someone other than Devon)? .... Mac's a great bar owner - 'we're closing up early tonight - called ya a cab', she announces with a smile (which is weird - cause there's never any mention of the drunken Billy being taxied home - and I guess she's just assuming the patrons have enough cash left over to pay for a taxi). And instead of a barroom brawl occurring, the thirsty but cooperative patrons amble off without even so much as an 'aw c'mon - just one more'. It's a BAR Mac - maybe you shoulda purchased an ice cream stand - somethin' you can close down at 8 pm without anyone caring .... Oh nooooo - Jack doesn't condone threats or violence (as he assures Dr P) - but forging a journal to send an enemy to prison for decades - yes, well, that's perfectly acceptable ... How did Kay get to Daniel's apartment rooftop patio? Is there no concierge or security guard to bark 'Hey lady - where do you think you're goin'? Can't ya read? 'Residents only' .. Isn't it odd that Katherine knew to look for Daniel and Amber on the roof - yet, earlier, Daniel went all over town looking for her - why didn't HE think to check the roof? And why was Phyllis panting like she just ran the Boston Marathon - yet Kay wasn't out of breath at all? Is the octogenarian incredibly fit? Or is Phyllis a closet chain smoker? ... I get that Daniel and Amber's wedding is impulsive/spontaneous - but since it was Amber's idea to have Summer as a flower girl, wouldn't it have been nice it they'd at least called her? What if she's all excited cause Phyllis mentioned it to her? Oh, what a great brother Daniel is! And if the Fisher's had time to get there, why couldn't Amber call her only other friend, Chloe? ..... In her back bearing S&M get up, does Phyllis really not realize that her description of Amber also describes HER? 'Criminality'? Phyllis has spent more time in an orange jump suit than Amber ... Daniel doesn't want 'the hassle' of getting a minister? Isn't that a great indication of how important this marriage is to him. How exactly is that more of a hassle than getting Kay ordained? .... Daniel has 'a lot of friends' who've gotten themselves ordained online? By 'ordained', does Daniel really mean masturbated to porn? And who ARE all these friends Daniel has? Cause when saying his vows, he claimed he was surrounded by 'all' his friends (which included only two people of his age group - the rest were seniors) ... How lucky that Lauren just so happened to have that 'perfect' dress with her at the time of Amber's nuptials? (another coupla hours and she'd have returned the Bride of Frankenstein frock to the Halloween rental store)... Nice that Lauren's at Trimble's Book Store - for a book of knock knock jokes for her son (when obviously she could easily Google thousands of jokes without leaving home) But she may be interested to learn that some parents - actually TAKE their children TO the library ... Jack claims he started 'changing' after his Dad (the great role model) died? But didn't he pull his most 'triumphant' stunt AFTER John's death? Jack practically got an erection when telling Victor about his proudest moment - dictating to Adam ... Is there anyone who can't see this coming a mile away? That no sooner have Jack and Dr P become involved, than Patty escapes and takes her place? ... Wazzup with Patty's hair? No one in a padded cell would be allowed a wig long enough to hang oneself - so, they must be having her roots dyed every 4 weeks? ... Gee - I wonder who's got it in for the Baldwin's - specifically Lauren. Could it be that evil nurse who just won't die - the one who at the time she was 'killed' looked exactly like Phyllis (thanks to the same great surgery (or surgeon) Patty had - which remarkably changes not only replicates one's physical appearance - but also eye colour as well as height and weight. Incredible!
