IN the mausoleum's living room, Chloe snuggles into Chance - then apologizes when she causes obvious pain. She then suggests that Chance take Kay's offer of a job at CI (where the only danger is of paper cuts) - but no, she's not trying to change him - she loves ... LIKES him the way he is. I LLLLL-like you too, he grins.
Outside, Billy explains he was with Chloe when she got Philip's message - well - not WITH Chloe - they'd bumped into one another. After briefly discussing Philip, Billy interrupts - he doesn't want to hear whatever Mac has to say about being at Cane and Lily's. You guys are having a baby? Chloe appears (with Chance). No - she's having Cane's baby. Wow, Chloe smirks.
Which shirt should Adam wear to dinner with a friend. A friend you wanna impress? Ashley selects the one on the right, then excuses herself when Adam takes a call. Sharon's made reservations at Indigo - it's time for him to go out. Not wanting to feel chaperoned, Sharon rejects Adam's driver - and will come pick HIM up.
At CL's, Jack won't tell Dr P where they're going (after her session ends) - he wants to keep his air of mystery. Little late for that, Dr P quips. Jack wants to have one secret she knows nothing about - call me when you're ready. Jack then calls Nick (who's almost at his front door). Yes - the IPO figures look sweet - Nick's interested - we'll talk tomorrow.
Now inside, Phyllis is in a hurry to get a new sofa - not wanting to look at this one again. Because? Because she's the reason Patty almost killed Summer. Stopping Phyllis from driving off 'like this', Nick listens to some babbling. Mary Jo .. Patty watched us from outside that window, Phyllis continues. Talking? No - having sex, Phyllis answers.
Of course Patty remembers Debbie - she wanted sleepovers because she had a crush on you. Patty also remembers sno cones- is Paul gonna get her one? Grape? OK. Dr P joins them. This? It's Patty's JR school yearbook. Paul steps aside to say she's doing well - hasn't mentioned Jack once. Patty shows them a picture from a school play - minus the wings, she looks like a bride. And look, she's made some cut outs - of Paul and Kitty Kitty - she only gets kid scissors because of all the dangerous people in there. Of course Patty doesn't find herself dangerous - she'd never hurt anyone - especially not Jack, silly.
Visiting Ashley at the ranch, Jack hears that Faith's well - and a lot like him - she loves the sound of her own voice - and just won't let go when she gets a hold of something. Jack? Is that you? Adam walks in. Gee - Jack's surprised he's not at NE - filing. Adam fires back - oh right - he has all the time in the world - Jill's running Jabot because he screwed up. Now, now, Ashley referees the boys. Once Adam leaves, Jack gives Ashley one more chance to go in with him on CI stock. No thanks, Ashley's gonna buy shares alright - but not with him.
Yes - her and Jack - but this was after Nick left - and was with Sharon. We were desperate and completely alone, she and Jack needed each other. Son of a bitch, Nick seethes through gritted teeth. You'd left me, Phyllis repeats - it was a mistake - but we weren't hurting anyone - or so we thought - but Patty saw us - and that's why ....Phyllis weeps - I did this to my child. I did this. How can she live with that?
Still in the back yard, Chloe sums it up - you're gonna carry a baby for your ex boyfriend's ex girlfriend and your ex brother - good for you. Chloe thinks Billy must be proud - she's giving her body to Cane for the greater good. So this is why Mac and Billy are having problems. Give it a few months, he'll get over it, Chloe assures - and will be back to the ground she waddles on. Have a great evening. Mac doesn't care that they know - she has nothing to be ashamed of. But going inside to talk isn't a good idea. Have a nice night, Billy leaves Mac to stare after him - good bye Billy.
Ashley won't let Jack take over - she wants to keep family and business separate. WE'RE his legacy - not Jabot. Of course she cares what happens to Jabot - but don't count on her voting with him. He's done too many things she doesn't approve of - offensive things. She got over it because she loves and accepts him - now it's HIS turn.
You can't hold yourself responsible, Nick comforts Phyllis (who continues to blame herself for feeling alone - causing Patty to attack her daughter). Blame me, Nick offers - I abandoned you - sent you into Jack's arms. He wasn't even at home when that psycho was outside. It could have been worse - Patty could have come in the house that night - with Summer sleeping upstairs.
Dr P thinks it good that Patty's connecting with the mementos Paul's bringing - and she's not talking about Jack all the time - we're making progress. Having another appointment, Dr P says good bye to Patty. And as Paul walks her out, Patty brings out another drawing - don't worry - I won't let them take you away, she caresses a crude drawing of her and Jack.
Back at the ranch, Ashley apologizes for Jack (who's now gone). When they work together it'll be different (but she's not ready to talk about it yet). And why is Adam being so secretive? Who's his date? Adam doesn't want to jinx it. Good luck, an understanding Ashley smiles - you deserve someone special.
Paul rejoins Patty to say good bye - he'll do his best to bring a sno cone. Paper Paul should stay here - to take care of Patty. Now alone, she again brings out the drawing of Jack - and her (who is drawn a bouquet).
Jack also has a bouquet - which he presents to the dolled up Dr P at the club. No need to put them in water - they'll be taken care of where we're going, Jack assures as he extends his arm for Dr P to take.
Phyllis gripes about Dr P lavishing adoration on Patty - she didn't fix her. Nick surmises that she's putting her rage on everything else - the sofa - Dr P - herself. What else can Phyllis do? She can't let Summer see. Her drawings suck - but she's so proud of them. Phyllis can't let her see what she's thinking. We all have blame in this, Nick gently reassures - no one's done more than YOU to make this right - the best mother Summer could ask for - feel damn proud. We're here - together - safe - focus on that. Phyllis nods through her tears ~hug~ ~kiss~
Jack's brought Dr P to his home - where they'll have the best table in the house. He's maitre 'd, chef, bus boy, dish washer. After you ... In the dining room, Jack pours wine. No one will be staring at her (thinking she's Patty) - he's the only one who'll be staring at her tonight. Meanwhile, Nick and Phyllis make out in bed.
I have to go, the nanny races in - my Dad's had a heart attack. Of course - Adam's left holding the baby monitor. Oh no, he sighs - Sharon - and the baby - this ain't good. As he's about to call her, Sharon shows up at the door - hello. No, Ashley's not home - and Adam can't go out tonight after all. No last minute assignment from Nick - it's the nanny. Let's just stay here, Sharon suggests.
Back at the mausoleum, Chloe and Chance are surprised that Mac didn't go with Billy - hot chocolate? No, thank you, Mac says. Chloe thinks she's doing the right thing - Cane will be a great father. But Chance can see where Billy's coming from. It's a lot to ask of a guy. It'll blow over, right? No - Mac doesn't think so. Chloe will support Mac 100% - and hook her up with maternity clothes - whatever she needs. Meanwhile, on the CL's patio, Billy whines to Ashley that Mac dumped him.
Didn't think I could cook, did you? Jack and Dr P exit the dining room. Maybe next time, Dr P can help in the kitchen (and is embarrassed for giving him such a hard time when they first met). Jack finds it refreshing - the baggage is already out there. Yes - this is the home he grew up in. His Dad's home - though he's lousy at emulating him. He was hoping Ashley would come back to Jabot - but she's no longer interested - and Traci's cocooned in NY. Billy? He's running amuck at RS. The dream of working together at Jabot is up in smoke. Giving up an old dream makes room for a new one, Dr P replies.
Sharon suggests pizza - there's tons of movies in the media room. Oh yeah - Adam's blind. Oops. Adam explains he sees colours and shapes - the closer the better. We'll think of something - and she'll help if the baby wakes up. No need for Sharon to go check on her. Adam will go get some snacks - and iced tea. Sharon's then left to smile at the bassinet - kneeling down to play with the stuffed animal inside, she hears the baby crying over the monitor.
Still on the patio, Billy has to wonder if it's too much to ask for a guy's girlfriend not to have another guy's baby. It'd be Cane and Lily's, Ashley reminds. Isn't surrogacy just a last straw? You're incompatible in other ways? Ashley tried to convince herself that loving Victor was enough - her dreams didn't turn out either. It's disappointing - but her eyes have been opened to new possibilities - it's exciting. Billy knows what life is like without Mac - and doesn't want to lose her again.
Declining hot chocolate once more, Mac marches up to bed (she's had about all she can handle). Chance thinks that Chloe was over the top. But she's alone and pregnant, Chloe reasons - she's the type to get real big. It's not about Billy being available again. Seems to Chance that she DOES care - an awful lot.
With Phyllis sleeping, Nick hops out of bed to leave a message for Jack - about the CI IPO - it's not gonna happen. Meanwhile, dropping Dr P off at the club, Jack kisses her (which completely throws Paul for a loop). Good night - Dr P pauses to touch her lip and look down at the admiring Jack - completely smitten. His cell phone beeps - Nick.
Last time we were married - you weren't a good boy, Patty pokes Paper Jack's eyes out with her kiddie scissors - she'll make it so he never looks at anyone again.
Bare chested, Nick guzzles a beer - then eyes his sofa - more beer - then a deep look into the mirror.
Adam brings out a loaded tray - to an empty room. And here's Sharon - through his narrow, blurry vision. There we go, she coos to the baby in her arms she's just brought downstairs.
