Naked in Tucker's bed, Jill's handed a Spanish Coffee. Given her position at Chancellor, Jill has to wonder what all the 'pampering's' about.
Amber and Daniel's discussion about the 'accident' is interrupted by a call from Deacon. On speakerphone, he talks about lock up being a dangerous place. When 'Danny Boy' pipes up, Deacon will leave them to their farewell's - hopefully Daniel won't be the victim of more faulty gym equipment. Amber panics - Deacon didn't even TRY to hide that he's behind this.
Trolling the landfill, Phyllis is joined by Nick - no way he'd let her do this alone. Yes, it smells - but if there's proof, we'll find it (he will, however, take a raincheck on the hug). Phyllis describes the gym bag they're looking for. And no sooner have the lack of 'hands' been lamented when, on cue, the Baldwin's arrive (in hazmet gear). And look - here's the Fisher's, the Murphy's - and Jack (all full of humour and ready to dive in). In tears, Phyllis is overwhelmed - and it's Mike and Lauren's anniversary to boot. Barking orders, Kay cracks the whip - let's find whatever the hell it is we're looking for.
The searchers are joined by Noah (who takes a photo of Abby) - and Eden (who shrieks when a rat runs across her foot). But no mention of the 'R' word. And here's Heather (on the other side of the chain link fence) - summoned by Mike (lest they're accused of tampering with evidence). Phyllis snarls at her to drop the attitude - shut up and pitch in!
Nice and warm - and clean (at CL's), Daisy warns Ryder to be more careful - Lauren thought she saw him at the boutique. Abby calls - she can't go out tonight (she's at the landfill looking for evidence). Good luck, Daisy hangs up - then updates Ryder. Get over there - now, Ryder orders.
Ah there Jill is - dressed, repairing her lip gloss (and still wanting an answer to her question. Business or pleasure? Obviously, she's pleasure. And was their meeting pure coincidence? Tucker knew who she was - a damn attractive woman (who gave him her room number). And what about Jill? She didn't recognize HIS famous face? Jill would have - if he hadn't shaved off his beard. Guess they'll just have to take one another's word - and keep romance separate from business. Oh, and one more thing, Jill WILL be talking Kay out of accepting Tucker's offer. Why? Because according to her research, he 'squeezed' little companies in the 80's. Tucker's sure Kay already knows - and bets Jill a million dollars that she won't be able to talk Kay into declining his offer. If she doesn't - Jill will have to come back tomorrow night - and do this all over again.
Daniel assures the whimpering Amber that he'll watch his back in jail from now on - they WILL have a future together - have faith. And humming a Christmas carol, Daniel gives Amber an imaginary gift. Oh Daniel - it's beautiful - what is it? It's a brand new cell phone - all the bells and whistles - bedazzled with Pink crystals - and look (Daniel taps an imaginary button) the screensaver's a photo from their wedding. Amber loves it - you did good. Daniel did (the day he married Amber) ~kiss~
After Jack helps Heather into the landfill, he thanks Kay for letting him in on the IPO (but is troubled with the way Kay agrees it's not the time or place to discuss it). Need any help? Daisy arrives. What a wonderful surprise - of course, Lauren welcomes her help. Abby's also impressed - how cool is that? Way cool, Noah agrees (though Eden's sneer indicates she's not). And as Eden stomps off, Daisy Tompkins is introduced to Nick and Phyllis (who thank her and describe the evidence they're looking for). I got it! I got it! Eden delights the crowd (and disappoints Daisy).
Heather goes through the bag - a map of the alley, Jimmy's bar address and a photocopy of the painting. No cell phone - but a ski mask. Heather reluctantly agrees she sees more of what appears to be evidence. And the mask could have hair - DNA, the others insist (as Daisy frowns). Heather will take it to the station and be in touch (as Daisy forces a smile).
An officer cuffs a seated Daniel to the bed then leaves the Romalotti's to wonder what Phyllis is up to. On cue, Phyllis calls with the news (and Daniel updates Amber that the gym bag was found - with the ski mask). He's not cleared yet - but it'll be tested. But they now have hope.
As the search Baldwin's and the kids file onto the patio, Ryder asks what all the excitement's about. He agrees it IS exciting - and hopes it'll prove he too has no connection to the murder.
Inside, Kay tells Jack and Nick that Murphy went home to shower - but she wanted to talk to them about the IPO. There's been a change. Tucker McCall wants the entire 25% offering. She's sorry to disappoint her friends, but Nick congratulates her - she'd be a fool to pass it up. Jack won't pretend he's not disappointed - but understands. Kay thanks them both - then leaves. Where COULD Phyllis be? they are all left to wonder. Phyllis is still rooting through the landfill - and finds a cell phone - with 3 saved messages.
Back on the patio, Lauren walks Mike to the car (as he has important work to do). Eden wonders why Daisy showed up - it has nothing to do with her. Lighten up. Daisy had NO ulterior motive - get off my case, she snaps at Eden (who then stomps inside to tell Lauren that Daisy weirded her out big time - don't trust her). Lauren thinks she's sweet and caring - new in town - give her a chance. And when Eden huffs off, Lauren orders some 'honesty' from Ryder - was it him at her boutique the other night - where she found a rat. Ryder doesn't care enough to terrorize her - get over yourself! Looking fresh, Phyllis arrives at CL's - and gets a call from Amber (saying Deacon all but confessed to causing Daniel's 'accident' - and then he threatened Daniel. She's scared). Not to worry - Phyllis will take care of this (and off she goes - telling Nick she'll meet him at the club later). That leaves Jack to gripe to Nick about soon having to answer to Tucker McCall.
Tucker helps Jill into her coat - see you tomorrow night. With my million bucks, Jill reminds with a kiss. And as she gets on one elevator, Kay gets off the other. What a pleasant surprise! Kay wanted to deliver the good news in person - we have a deal.
The Fisher's are with Amber in Daniel's room when Mike and Heather arrive. Ms Steven's has arranged a bail hearing - tomorrow or the day after. Yes, Daniel's going back to jail (but gives the family a moment to say good bye). Daniel thanks Kevin for his help - watch out for Amber. But who'll look out for the man Amber loves? ~kiss~ Daniel takes a box from Kevin and hands it to Amber - and early Christmas gift. The phone - with wallpaper from the wedding. All are sad when Daniel's taken back to jail - but where's Phyllis?
She's at the club, confronting Deacon with a message she plays on speakerphone. 'It's all set etc etc.. No, he won't go to prison for it, IF he does exactly what Phyllis tells him to.
Jill returns home - and is told (by Murphy) that Kay's gone to make a deal with Kay. And that's exactly what Kay and Tucker are doing - their lawyers will be in touch. Kay admires the new headquarters - and spots the unmade bed. Forgive an old bachelor, Tucker quips. Both have a good feeling about this deal. Tucker walks Kay out - and once alone, looks mighty pleased with himself. Knock Knock - here's Jack - welcome to GC, the men shake hands.
Back on the patio, Eden whines to Noah about Daisy (and is again told to give Daisy a break). And when Abby and Daisy rejoin them, Noah talks of their trip to France. Daisy's sorry to hear Eden's Mom is dead. Meanwhile, Lauren's on her phone - just the one rat? Isn't that unusual? It wasn't feral? The kind you get in a pet store? Hmm - someone DID do this in purpose.
Phyllis won't go to the feds with her evidence - IF he takes Amber and leaves town. She wants the troublemaker out of Daniel's life. Deacon would be happy to accommodate. Nick arrives - suspicious as to why she's giving Deacon the time of day. She was just telling him he's an idiot is all.
Still in Daniel's room, Mike unable to get Daniel out (which worries Amber greatly) If only there was someone to watch Daniel's back in jail. But look - Daniel has a new cell mate - Billy. Oh hell no, Billy sits up to groan.
At the mausoleum, Kay's pleased with the way everything work out. An understanding Jill congratulates Kay - whatever Tucker wants, he gets. She can't go out to dinner to celebrate - but not to worry, she WILL be celebrating (in her own way).
Jack just wanted to stop by and introduce himself - and hope he enjoys his stay in their fair city. Tucker's followed Jack's career - and Ashley's - both are incredibly talented - too bad he never got to meet John. They'll get together for drinks soon. And on either side of the door, both men are left to contemplate meeting the other.
Next: At the club, Sharon smiles across the table - we don't have to hide our relationship anymore. Relationship? Adam looks pleased ... Sharon and Adam, Jack grimaces at Nick (who sighs). Yeah, that was my reaction too - now what are we gonna do about it? ... Mike hands some papers to Ryder - it's a restraining order - go near my family again - you go to jail, he wags his finger (as Lauren scowls over his shoulder)
My Thoughts: Daniel's case has nothing to do with you, Eden snarls at Daisy. But what does it have to do with HER? Does she even KNOW Daniel? ... Yeah, yeah, WE know that Daniel's innocent - but he's in jail suspected of murder - WHY is a 'journalist' refusing to name his source, tossed in with a murderer? Do the folks arrested for speeding tickets get tossed in with the rapists? ... As incredulous as it is that the richest woman in town, the local coffee shop owners, a brilliant attorney and his retail tycoon wife (who are celebrating their long anniversary no less) - and assorted kids who had no homework - would ALL descend en mass upon the local land fill - it's even MORE incredulous that the landfill 'manager' allowed them all access to an obviously dangerous area (with nary a waiver to be signed - or even a cursory warning that hard hats and steel toes should be worn). Always good to have a lawyer on hand if one gets injured in a dump (like if that wicker shelving unit toppled over) ... What are our odds of finding people to sift through mounds of rotting garbage? Slim you'd think - so why wouldn't the uber wealthy Newman's just hire some hands .. Yeah - it'll be a great story to tel Fenmore (that wading through garbage was more important than tucking him in and reading him a bedtime story - actually, the Baldwin's usually have something more interesting to do than that chore) .. Only in GC would the mother of a suspected criminal (who's been found guilty of a crime and served time herself) have the nerve to tell the ADA to 'shut up' (and come pick through garbage) .. You guys are 'crazy' Heather declares upon arrival . Never mind the political incorrectness, she's clearly unaware that the group she's calling 'crazy' include a arsonist Chipmunk, a woman who blamed her murderous ways on a brain tumour - and a woman who (unsure of her own identity) thought she was a diner waitress for months. So, yeah - 'crazy' pretty well covers it ... Amber blubbering 'You can't go back to jail babe' - sounded more like 'you can't go back to 'jailbait'' (which would be funnier - and more appropriate) ... As it now seems that Deacon was indeed the third man in the alley, how stupid was he to toss away evidence (Jimmy's address and the map)? Paper evidence could have been reduced to ashes in the fireplace in his suite - and a conscientious murderer would have disassembled the phone - by stomping on it with his heel - duh .... Euuuw - patrons of CL's must have wondered why the sudden foul odour permeating the air of their favourite coffee shop. Couldn't the search party have gone home to shower and change? I wouldn't have pegged Murphy as the most hygienic of the bunch. Did they even bother to wash their hands before enjoying their hot beverages .. Hi - who's this? Phyllis looks suspiciously at Daisy - is she the bouncer of the landfill? Clearly the place is open to anyone who cares to visit .. I should have called first, Kay says - which would definitely make sense (since Tucker's address hasn't been broadcast). Jack makes no apologies for just dropping by on a man he's never met before. If he's the official welcome wagon, where's his basket? Tucker's 'followed' Jack's career? And still has anything good to say? Did he miss the part about Jack losing Jabot? or his senate seat? And how bored was Tucker 'following' Ashley's career? She hasn't worked in eons ... It's understandable that Amber's first concern would be Daniel going back to jail - but when in the same room as the ADA, why wouldn't she have mentioned what she told Phyllis (that Deacon all but confessed to being behind Daniel's 'accident'?) Was she too mesmerized by her new shiny phone? ... Phyllis hates Amber that much? That she'd see a murderer go free (as long as he takes her daughter in law with him?) ... Perhaps Phyllis doesn't know that obstruction of justice is a crime? (and since it's related to a murder case - AND she's a Newman - Heather could likely charge her as an accessory after the fact) ... Tucker really sticks to his famous quotes - telling everyone who leaves his 'pad' to 'get home safe'. I always DO, Kay chortles on exit (clearly forgetting the numerous times she DIDN'T get home safely - like the most recent time she was found washed up on the riverbank - or the time she didn't get home to the trailer safely (as she lay unconscious on 2 X 2 ft patch of black ice) - and then there was the time she didn't get home safe as she was tied to her maid in a motel room. I could go on - but the point is - Kay doesn't always 'get home safe' ... Have a great weekend. Thanks for your continued support that makes the site possible!
