Reading the paper at Jimmy's, Billy talks to Mac about Sharon's marriage (a worse disaster than the plane crash or fire, in his opinion). He knows Adam enough not to like him (and reading Nick's congratulations, doesn't agree it's sincere). Were HIS congratulations sincere? Mac also has to wonder why he's interested. Uh oh - does he plan a story on Sharon and Adam? Could be.
The evening sky is alit with flashing lights as Phyllis tells Adam what she told the police - she saw two men arguing before one 'ran into the street'. Poor guy, Adam sighs - then denies the 'fight' when an officer asks. Sure, he's legally blind - but saw the whole thing. 'Shaky', he's lead off to sit down. Phyllis wastes no time calling Nick to relay what happened - Ashley's OB was rushed to the hospital. What were they arguing about? she wonders. Adam? He's giving his statement. Come to the office, Nick wants to hear more. Conveniently at the ranch, Nick quickly gives Ashley and Sharon the news. Dr Taylor? Sharon mumbles.
Leaving the mausoleum, Kay invites Jo Jo to join her at the club - it's a shame she's got other plans. She's still waiting for the DNA test (which the oblivious Jo Jo still refuses to take). Suspicious about Jo Jo's 'plans', Ester's horrified to hear she's having 'people over'. Not to worry - Jo Jo knows better than to ask Ester for anything - just stay in your room. Kay's on the phone - asking Neil to meet her to prepare for their first CelTron stockholders meeting. She'll call Jill - Neil's to call Tucker. When he does so, Neil hears Jill answering Kay's call (and is told they just bumped into one another at the club). While Jill's agreeing to the meeting, Tucker's bailing out - sorry - other plans. Can't be helped, he tells Jill (who then makes it clear she doesn't have any expectations). Kissing her hand, neither did Tucker - things just sneak up on ya sometimes.
Still outside Jimmy's, Phyllis approaches Adam with some questions (sure he feels responsible). What did he mean - 'you're finished'? Adam was trying to calm the drunk man down. No - they weren't together. Adam recognized him and tried to stop him from driving home. He doesn't care whether Phyllis believes him or not. He's Ashley's OB, Phyllis prods suspiciously. Adam's concern is now Ashley - we can't say anything until we know he's alright.
Ashley is indeed 'upset' - how badly is Dr T hurt? As Sharon and Ashley question Nick, it's learned that Phyllis and Adam were both there. No Adam didn't tell Sharon he was with Taylor - he doesn't report his every move. And after Ashley assures Nick she's OK, he leaves to meet Phyllis at NE. That leaves Ashley to express guilt - Dr Taylor was there to see her and Faith. Adam's the one who recommended the old fashioned doctor who was so reassuring. Sharon knows. You do? Ashley's curious (as Sharon's jaw flaps).
Rafe arrives at Jimmy's as summoned - and is badgered to have a drink. This isn't business. No - he's not in trouble with the Newman's - it's the other way around. Billy then takes Rafe out of Mac's earshot to get his 'behind the scenes perspective' - on Adam. Why is Rafe making that face? Billy wants to know the personal stuff (not his case) - you guys were 'friends'. How did you know about that? Rafe pales (clearly convinced Colleen told Billy about his sexual orientation).
Jo Jo welcomes the crowd that files into the mausoleum - saw the sign down the road huh? Who doesn't love a good garage (or estate) sale? Make me an offer - everything must go. And as Jo Jo negotiates $25 for a crystal vase, Ester marches in to scowl - What the hell's going on here?
Tucker's really enjoying the time he and Jill spend together - but he has 'prior' commitments. Jill's oh so accommodating - she won't ask anything he's not happy to give. Tucker plans to ask a great deal of Jill (but it'll wait for another time). When Jill offers to drop by his place later, Tucker agrees - but watching Kay arrive, doesn't think she'll like it when she learns she's been deceived. Jill assures she'll be fine - as long as it has nothing to do with CI. Or maybe - he's nervous that Kay could sway her opinion of Tucker? She IS like a mother to you, Tucker prods. Jill thinks it cute that he's worried about that.
At a nearby table, Neil and Kay prepare for the meeting with CelTron's stockholders - the CEO, Margaret, was very reasonable. Kay eyes the figures Neil hands over - much better than expected. Neil's amazed by how quickly the deal came together - thanks to Tucker. Kay could NOT be happier with her team - it's an exciting new chapter for CI. When Neil greets the 'man of the hour', all pat themselves on the back. Sorry Tucker can't join them, Jill will see him at the CelTron stockholders meeting. You will - indeed, Tucker grins.
Billy gets a refill (and a lecture from Mac) - this isn't a story - just friends having a drink. He then goes back to pumping Rafe for info on Adam. Promising to protect his sources, Billy wants to publish what everyone should know about Adam. Rafe caves - of all the low life's he's represented, he's never met anyone as devious as Adam. He's not sure anyone can bring him down - but sure as hell would like to seeBilly try.
In the CEO's office, Nick and Phyllis plot to find out what Adam's hiding - hopefully it's big enough to get Adam out of NE for good. You thinking of retiring? Adam comes in to sneer.
The same DR Taylor? What a small world - how did you meet? Sharon starts to tear up - he delivered her baby. On cue, Faith's cry is heard over the monitor. I'm so sorry, a helpless Ashley watches Sharon run out.
Nick and Phyllis try to crack Adam - you and Dr Taylor weren't getting along it seems. You recommended a doctor who drinks? Adam was surprised too. Phyllis finds it odd that Ashley's gynecologist would fly out to check on her. She WILL ask Ashley. Adam lists off NE's recent scandals - the company needs another one (which this is NOT). A friend of the family had a terrible accident - nothing more.
Rafe doesn't KNOW the whole story - but he got close (so Adam reeled him in). Heather thinks 'it' was my idea, Rafe's tongue continues to loosen. Heather was jealous - and you can't get involved with a client. Billy stammers - you and Adam were ...involved?... .? You said you knew, Rafe barks. Nope - it's news to Billy. That IS news, he sips and grins (while Rafe looks like he's been had).
Back at NE, Phyllis grabs her coat - she's off to the hospital. When Dr Taylor wakes up she'll get HIS version. She WILL knock herself out (and giving Nick a quick kiss, leaves). Adam grumbles - less than 24 hours ago he saved Nick's son - yet his opinion of him hasn't changed at all. Nick disagrees - Adam being capable of heroism makes it sadder that he's the way he is. He's confident the real story will come out soon enough. Hi babe, Adam stares at Nick as he answers Sharon's call. At the hospital, Sharon's surprised he's not there. Yes, she heard about the accident. Of course, Adam clears his throat - he was trying to pretend like it didn't happen. Sharon informs she knew Dr T too - he delivered my baby. You're at the hospital? Adam croaks (while Nick smugly says Sharon will talk to Dr T before Phyllis even gets to him). But when a DR tells Sharon that Dr T died, she relays the news to Adam (who then puts on a sad face as he tells Nick 'he didn't make it'). Nick huffs - guess we'll never know the truth.
Victor Newman's son's bisexual? Gay? Billy brings over more drinks. No - it was an act, Rafe informs. He was investigating the crazy stuff going on at the ranch, until he got sidetracked. Adam's 'feelings' for Rafe disappeared as soon as the suspicion against him did. Wow - that's extreme, Billy's shocked - no offence. If Adam had anything to do with the hell Ashley went through .... It won't come back to you, Billy promises (then hears about Estella pleading guilty to a lesser charge). Rafe can only hope telling Billy WAS a good thing. Be careful with this guy, he warns in parting. Billy then crows to Mac about his potentially huge story - if not the Newman's, he'd be doing an expose on her Aunt Jo Jo.
Ester shows the bargain hunters the door - good bye. Give me that, she snatches a trinket from the last woman's hand - good thing the Detective's not home - for shame ~slam!~ And YOU - how dare you take advantage of Mrs C's kindness, she turns on Jo Jo. Ester doesn't NEED a DNA test to know she's NOT Mrs C's daughter. There won't be one? Huh - lot YOU know, Ester's triumphant as she blabs that one's being done right now. Jo Jo's off for a beer - tell Ma not to wait up for me.
The revelry continues at the club as Neil orders sparkling cider. Time to celebrate, all agree. Too bad about Jo Jo. If she IS Kay's daughter she'll find a way to deal with it. Neil talks about family not being about blood - Jill and Kay are proof of that. They could have walked away from each other many times - but chose not to - that's more meaningful than an accident by birth.
Mac's not all that happy to see Jo Jo back at her bar - what happened to drinking for free at Mama Kay's? That from the house? Mac eyes the music box Jo Jo's got tucked under her arm - plays real nice music - reminds her of a man she once knew. It's mine, Mac announces - and yes, someone special DID give it to her. Jo Jo will leave it when she goes. But now, opens the lid and listens. I know that tune, Tucker appears at her side to smile.
How'd you get in here? Nick snarls when Billy saunters into his office. He's there for comment on a story he's working on. Billy's a real journalist? That's not true. Yeah, but neither is Nick's quote on Sharon and Adam's marriage - so Billy's giving him the opportunity to set the record straight - how do you REALLY feel?
Neil pours while Kay thanks him and Jill for their hard work - and none of it would be happening if it weren't for Tucker. Initially against it, has Jill 'warmed' to the idea? This partnership has possibilities Jill didn't anticipate. Kay's feeling very positive about the future of CI. To Tucker McCall! all clink glasses.
With the music box still playing on the bar, Tucker remembers dancing to that song. A long time ago, a wistful Jo Jo shuts the lid. Tucker's heard about the havoc she's been wreaking at the estate - that's why he sent her. Fun's almost over, Jo Jo informs - the maid let it slip that a DNA test's being done. Gig's up - sorry. Don't worry about it, Tucker smiles - he's ready for the next phase of his plan. A suspicious Mac serves Jo Jo a beer - didn't realize you two knew each other so well. We don't, both shake their heads unconvincingly.
Nick doesn't want any part of 'this' - he doesn't give a damn about Adam but won't allow Sharon or his son to be publicly humiliated. No problem - decisions Adam made in the past won't reflect on Sharon. He was seeing Heather when he got with Rafe. Nick's grin indicates he DID know about it - but he still declines getting involved. Don't say I didn't ask, Billy makes for the door. We're not done with this, Nick adds (as Billy leaves cackling).
Adam returns to give Ashley the bad news - 'he's gone' ~hug~ Ashley tears up over the 'good man' - if it weren't for Dr T, she wouldn't even HAVE Faith. And he was only THERE to see her. How can she NOT blame herself? Think of how different things would be if he never came. Yeah - it's all Adam can think about.
When Sharon tells her Dr Taylor's dead, Phyllis confides she came to get the real story - then blabs that he and Adam were arguing. He was trying to get away from Adam (after threatening him - 'you're finished'). No - Sharon doesn't know - ask Adam. Phyllis did - Adam claimed he was drunk (which isn't how it seemed to Phyllis). Accosting the doctor (who reports Dr T had a low alcohol level), Phyllis turns smugly to Sharon - Hmmm - shocker - Adam lied - guess you're learning some new things about your husband, aren'tcha?
Next: She heard DR Taylor say 'you're finished' - why would he say THAT? a puzzled Sharon grills Adam ... As much as I'd love to see Adam get dragged through the mud, it's NOT how I want to play this, Nick tells Phyllis ... The DNA results! Ester brings in an envelope. Give it to me! Jill snatches the envelope to open it (as Murphy looks on).
My Thoughts: Nick and Phyllis aren't exactly Holmes and Watson - nor exceptionally clever - why wouldn't they call in Paul or better yet their brother in law, JT to solve this mystery? .. How did Sharon know Dr T's name was Charles? ... Billy WOULD drive Rafe home - except he has some investigating to do? Not because he too has been drinking. Guess he's already forgotten the New Year's 'dream' of him wrapping his car around a pole? The headline stating he was killed driving drunk? ... Jo Jo's really making bounty hunters look bad. Did she really think she'd get away with selling off Kay's antiques - that it would go over well? How could she possibly translate 'make yourself at home' to mean 'sell my expensive possessions to strangers for peanuts'? - and just how many people happened to be driving past Jo Jo's sign? I hardly ever get that kinda traffic at MY garage sales (and I attach balloons to MY signs). Is Jo Jo really that stumped as to how they could have possibly got her DNA? ... Why is Nick scoffing at Billy not being a 'real' journalist? Wasn't HE equally inexperienced when HE ran RS? But it IS a bit puzzling as to how public enemy number one could make his way up to Newman's executive offices - then marching - unannounced into the CEO's office. Guess the secretary wasn't at her desk ... Why is Mac surprised that Billy would do an article on Adam and Sharon? He DOES publish a magazine - one Sharon founded. And why is Mac 'happy for her'? She barely KNOWS her. I didn't see Sharon racing over to to congratulate Mac on her pregnancy (or Lily, for that matter). But if Billy's such a great journalist, why hasn't he thought to look into the accident that's occurred right outside the bar he's sitting in? Hasn't anyone inside noticed all the flashing lights? The cops and bystanders milling about? The ambulance sirens as Dr T was raced to GCM? ... If Adam's claiming Taylor was drunk (after coming from Jimmy's) why didn't the police go inside to chat with the bartender who served him? Wonder if Phyllis and Nick will think to question Mac about Adam meeting Dr T (perhaps she'll mention that he was dressed oddly - and wearing a baseball cap) .... So much for patient/DR privledge - the doctor didn't blink before tattling that Dr Taylor had alcohol in his system - so what if it's a low amount? .... Why on earth would Kay invite Jo Jo along for her meeting at the club? It's a celebration of a business deal. What if she'd said yes? How awkward would that be? ... The more the Chancellor team pats themselves on the back, the more obvious it is that 2010 is NOT gonna be the exciting year they're expecting (at least not in a good way) .... Poor Rafe - but how quick he was to think Colleen betrayed his confidence. I'd even forgotten they were pals (as he was nowhere to be seen during her funeral. I didn't see HIM releasing any red balloons into the sky in CC's honour). Never mind being named as a source, Rafe's real worry should be Billy writing an expose on a public defender having a fling with his infamous client (a convicted felon) .... I'm legally blind - 'but I saw it' Adam tells the cop (huh?) ... Um Billy - Nick just said he won't allow Sharon and Noah to be publicly humiliated. Sure, Adam was with Rafe BEFORE Sharon - but does he really think Sharon and Noah won't be the least bit embarrassed if Adam's sexual preferences are splashed all over the papers. And what does he mean by 'allow'? Like he has any control - did he ALLOW Billy to humiliate Vikki? Poor Noah - he used to whine about the kids bothering him just because he's a Newman ... Hearing Ashley's doctor got hit by a car, Sharon adopts this puzzled expression - Olivia? Never mind that Olivia hasn't been seen in eons (despite her neice's battle with cancer - or the death of her BFF). Olivia WHO? would be a more appropriate response from Ashley. But why would she say Dr Taylor was ONLY there to see her - didn't he clearly say he was going to other appointments - then would come BACK to see her? But sure - it's ALL about YOU Ashley ... What a great lawyer Rafe is - having his beloved (and completely innocent) Aunt plead guilty to a 'lesser charge' (never mind that a more likely suspect's in a padded cell - while the real culprit's free to shove aggressors under the bus - literally) ... Billy refers to Rafe as his 'friend' - yet he seems completely stunned to learn he's homosexual - like never noticed his lack of girlfriends? What a great 'friend' Billy Abbot is - and incredibly observant (considering he's a journalist and all).
