At the ranch, Ashley's explaining to Adam that she wants the girls to grow up at the ranch (so's not to feel 'less than' Nick and Vikki - like HE did). Never mind that Adam's done bad things - he's paid for (and is a better man) for it. Sharon interrupts - you guys seen this? Victor smiles on the cover of RS. Exclusive Interviews - my son's a sociopath. Every heinous thing you've heard about my son is true, Sharon reads aloud.
If Hope were alive she'd be sick at heart .... Phyllis reads aloud to Nick (as they sit at the club). Harsh, she says. But true, Nick adds. Wow - intense - she reads Victor's thoughts on Adam framing him (with the forged diary). Victor joins them - Yes, he DID give this interview - and meant every word of it.
What is THIS!? Jack slams a copy of RS on Billy's desk. He helped him vilify Victor in last month's issue - and now he's on the cover - like the second coming of Winston Churchill?! What the hell's going on here?
On the CL's patio with JT and Reed, Mac's being picked up by the Ashby's (for her doctor's appointment). JT whines about Vikki not being home yet (she keeps saying it'll be tomorrow - then hits a 'snag'). So - he took the day off - surprisingly, Tucker was cool with it. Mac's surprised too - he has such little regard for 'family'. When the Ashby's arrive, Lily admires Mac's little 'baby bump' - and off the happy trio go.
As Sharon and Ashley continue to frown over the 'uncalled for' article, Adam pretends he's not hurt. Billy said he was too boring to write about - guess Victor changed that. Sharon's shocked - Victor always talks about 'family' - Adam's not the only one this article hurts. Checking her watch, Ashley has to pick Abby up in town - HOW can she possibly explain Victor being so hateful towards one of his children?
At CL's, Noah's reading Victor's words aloud to Abby "I'm ashamed he bears the Newman name". Gee Dad - tells us what you really think? Abby quips. But she doesn't see Adam as a brother - or why her Mom can't see through him. This will kill my Mom - and Noah can't help feeling bad for Adam (who's not his 'favourite' person). It'd be horrible, Abby admits - seems Colleen's heart hasn't changed Victor (who upset her Mom last night). See? THIS is the kinda thing that makes Noah want to go to France. Yeah, Abby wishes she could go too.
It just fell in your lap?! Jack demands - and gets an explanation from Billy. He found tons of dirt on Adam - stuff that'd make your hair curl - but with no one willing to go on record, it'd be heresay. Victor arrived out of the blue offering an exclusive - who could say no? Whatever his 'agenda' is, it lined up with Billy's. It's his business to sell magazines - and this WILL. Tucker? His name only came up with regards to Adam going to work for him. Flashback to Billy interviewing Victor - his first question is about Adam going to work for Tucker. Victor wasn't surprised - a liar; Adam has no ethics, honour or loyalty. Tucker's welcome to him.
Still at the club, Nick now reads aloud - Adam's a sociopath - he has no conscience (then more about the forged diary). Nick didn't know it'd be such a 'character assassination' - though neither he nor Phyllis can disagree with it. BECAUSE they're surprised at WHERE Victor chose to to say it, Victor thinks it will have the desired effect (a remark that puzzles Nick and Phyllis).
In her robe - and on the table, Mac's blood pressure's 'perfect' (as are the beating hearts seen on the ultra sound screen). Hello Baby A and B. Lily records the heartbeats on her cell phone - TWO babies! God's REALLY answered our prayers. Looking at the beating hearts, Mac's smile fades.
JT gives Reed more apple juice - then flashes back to the conversation in which Mac encouraged him to continue working for Tucker (the 'philanthropist' who saved thousands of lives). Nick arrives - looking for Noah (who just left). JT calls Nick back - got a second? What's going on with Vikki? Reed cries himself to sleep last night. Nick admits Dubai's a mess; more complicated than we thought. 'A lot of things are', is JT's caustic reply.
Back at RS, Jack still doesn't understand why Victor came to Billy. Perhaps Victor hates Adam more than he hates Billy? No - Adam's still his son (and married to a woman Victor worships). Even with a transplant, the man's heartless. Flashback to Victor's interview - Adam has NONE of the goodness Hope had.
Adam reads the article aloud to Sharon - Victor's glowing words describing Hope - who loved family and God. What does Adam love? Money - satisfying his own carnal desires. Victor then implies that Adam's grief over his mother's death was all an act (for his benefit). Bastard! Adam mutters. Sharon thinks it shameful - I'm disgusted with that man. Adam throws the magazine - it's vile!
JT's now at Trimble's book store with Reed. Watching the pair, Mac flashes back to telling JT that she's pregnant with twins (and his admiration of her sacrifice). The appointment went great, Mac informs - then would LOVE to read to Reed. Meanwhile, at CL's, Lily shows Cane the sleepers she couldn't resist buying - maybe they SHOULD find out the sex of the babies.
At NE, Noah tries to convince Nick to allow him to go to school in Paris. Yeah - part of it IS to be with Eden. Listening from the open door, Victor looks sad as Noah gripes about the article. Thank God there's no school - all the kids will be laughing. Poor Abby wants to go to Paris too (and if it were up to Noah, he'd let her).
Shopping at Fenmore's boutique, the glum Abby asks if Adam really did all the things she read about in Uncle Billy's magazine? Ashley admits he did - but people learn from their mistakes. Dad was so 'mean', Abby's teary eyed - would he do that to me? No - he loves you too much, Ashley assures. Not so sure, Abby goes to try a blouse on. Standing 5 feet away for the entire conversation, Phyllis approaches Ashley - assuming they saw the article. How can one explain Victor, they both wonder - he's a 'mystery'. Interrupting, Jack could come up with a more colourful name - but won't diss Abby's father (not that being Adam's father stopped Victor).
You're NOT a sociopath, Sharon plays the supportive wife. Adam thinks Victor right about one thing - Hope WOULD be disappointed (that he turned out too much like HIM). Sharon doesn't care what Victor says - she sees the man his mother loved - a loyal and caring man. If Victor can't see that, HE'S blind. Declaring her love, Sharon's proud to be his wife. I don't deserve you, Adam sighs ~hug~
Back at the boutique, Jack's there to buy something for P's trousseau. Ashley knows what P got him - he'll love it. And as Jack pumps her for hints, Phyllis doesn't bother to hide that she's unimpressed (that he's marrying someone who looks like Patty). Oh right - she's SUPPOSED to say Patty resembles P. Ashley doesn't blame her for being 'freaked out' (after what Patty did to Summer). AND Victor, Phyllis reminds (adding that she's trying to get Nick to move). She's then furious to hear Victor's going back on his word (allowing Ashley to raise her girls on the ranch). That's not right! Treating your girls like second class citizens. If you stay I'll stay. Still glum, Abby returns to greet Phyllis and Jack (who invites them all to lunch). Abby bails out to see Noah instead.
If Adam thought he was a social pariah before, NOW he's a one man leper colony. Sharon insists Victor's the one who'll look bad. He should be ashamed of himself - hold you head high - she'll right by his side. Good - then it's off to the club for lunch ~kiss~
Joining Nick and Noah, Victor's sorry his fight with Ashley upset Abby (whom he loves very much). Like you do all your kids - even Adam? Noah wants to know. Feeling Noah's too young to understand some things, Victor assures that everything isn't always what it seems. He loves his family more than anything. His phone beeping, Noah's gotta go - bye. And now, Nick and Victor are off to lunch too.
Still at CL's, the Ashby's are discussing baby names - when Lily's chemo nurse, Anita, shows up (and is happy to hear about the babies). When Lily talks about her treatment next week (where she looks forward to Harry's jokes), Anita delivers bad news - Harry's dead.
After playing with Mac, Reed runs off - leaving JT to say how much he likes her. Reed needs a woman's touch, JT then gripes some more about Vikki being gone (a result of Victor intruding on his family yet again).
Arriving at the club, Nick hangs up with Vikki - then tells Victor about his run in with JT. Reed's really missing his mother (and Nick feels so bad he wants to go take Vikki's place in Dubai). Victor instructs him to stay put - she'll be home soon. He doesn't give a damn how JT feels - nor does JT care how he or Vikki feel (as evident by him working for McCall).
Here comes trouble, Jack points out Nick and Victor. Billy comes along - anyone here talking to me? He grabs the waiter, places an order and pulls up a chair (as Phyllis and Ashley continue to diss Victor). Jack thinks both he and Adam can rot in hell. And how did Billy convince Victor to do the interview? Both Phyllis and Ashley are surprised to hear Victor came to Billy.
Back at Trimble's, Reed's off playing - leaving Mac to admit it was 'weird' hearing the baby's heartbeats - Cane and Lily are so in love and happy about the babies. JT understands why she'd want it to be her - and one day it will. Some lucky guy's gonna hit the jackpot. Mac can't join the Hellstrum boys at the museum - but call if you need anything (which JT says goes both ways). At the door, Mac pauses to look back at JT (who's also deep in thought).
Lily's devastated to hear of Harry's death - but assures Cane she'll be OK. Let's just think about babies - let's find out the sex and pick names - start a video journal of our thoughts. And while Cane calls Devon and Neil (so they can come over and hear the heartbeat) - Lily puts her headphone on and closes her eyes.
As Noah and Abby arrive at the club, Ashley confronts Victor - how could he humiliate Adam that way - what message does that send to Abby?! (who's standing right behind them). You go Ashley, Phyllis turns to watch (as Jack assumes Victor knew the article would get this kind of reaction). Flashback to Billy asking Victor how he thinks Adam will react to the article (Victor doesn't give a damn). Amused, Billy takes a photos of the confrontation. At the front door, Victor tells Ashley that it's like cutting off his arm, but he won't fight her for the ranch. Adam strides over - inches from Victor's face - You son of a bitch - you had to take things too far didn't you!?
Next: You just can't keep your nose out of my life. You need to back off bitch ... Getting a visit for Nick, Tucker has an offer - how about I hang onto Jabot - and YOU sell ME Newman Cosmetics ... Ashley's speaking intensely to Abby - I'm looking for a piece of fabric - it's about this big (she spreads her fingers approximately 4 inches) - and it's THIS colour (she indicates the boxed clothing wrapped in a ribbon - close to the colour of Sabrina's infamous dress).
My Thoughts: If Lily wants Neil and Devon to hear the babies heartbeats - why can't she go to THEM? Why must they drop everything to come to CL's? ... What kind of hair curling stories did Billy find on this 'kid' (and why is he calling Adam, who's older than him, a kid?) - why is he NOW against publishing 'heresay'? ..Wouldn't RS readers rather hear about Tucker McCall's takeover? .... Only a month or so into her pregnancy, how many ultra sounds will Mac have over the next 8 months? And how big could her 'baby bump' possibly be? .... LOL@ Adam reading a magazine. Um - isn't he legally blind? (though one has to wonder if Ashley and Sharon are the blind ones) ... So small in square footage that it's capacity is only about 7 customers at any given time, how ironic that Jack, Phyllis, Ashley and Abby would all happen to be at the boutique at the same time. How could Ashley and Abby not see Phyllis - standing a mere 5 feet away. Do they have blinders on? Or is Adam's condition contagious? ... Jack's getting something for P's trousseau? What the hell's a trousseau? .... So many flashback's today, I was beginning to think there was something wrong with my TV - going all fuzzy around the edges ... ... Wherever Ashley raises her precious girls - them feeling as much fatherly love as Nick and Vikki did - won't depend on their address. Nick and Vikki were shipped off to boarding school for years - to compete, will Ashley insists on the same for HER girls? (could we be THAT lucky to get a break from Eden, Noah AND Abby?) Hopefully this mysterious Aunt in Paris has a big house (and likes doors slamming, loud music and fridges being raided by strangers as much as Lauren does) ... Ashley's girls will always be raised as Newman's? I thought Abby went by Carlton ... Aren't RS's readers ever going to get tired of reading about ONE family? Why would Sharon be so shocked that Victor would trash Adam in print - it's the very magazine that published excerpts of the diary he forged ... Hope raised Adam to appreciate God - and nature? Odd, cause he's broken a few commandments (and isn't really a nature lover) ... How nice of Tucker to give JT the whole day off - but really, as he was hired to help Tucker 'navigate' his way around GC, what's left for him to do? ... Let's hope all those kids playing at Trimble's don't come across the cup of spiked coffee Ryder confiscated from Abby yesterday ... GC has a Children's Museum? Who knew? ... Yes - well they're growing, Mac stands in profile - does she mean her boobs? Cause he stomach's still flat ... Hey Mr Mom - did you bring your own apple juice? Or are you buying it at CL's and pouring it into a sippy cup. Reed can't manage a straw? ... It's becoming more likely that Adam and Victor are just creating a ruse to throw Tucker off (in a bid to get CI back for Kay) - everything isn't what it seems, Victor vaguely tells Noah. Won't Sharon be pleased to have yet another husband who's so good at lying to her .. Adam's not Noah's favourite person? He DID save you, your girlfriend - and your cowardly dog ... How can JT blame Victor for Vikki going to Dubai - it's not his fault she needs to 'lay low' (cause she slept with Deacon) ... Victor's ashamed that Adam bears the Newman name? I thought he went by the name Wilson ... Why is Nick (and Phyllis and Ashley for that matter) so excited about getting a free lunch?
