At the club's bar, Cane meets Malcolm and Devon - only to say he can't make 'the party'. Having to meet Tucker, he'll have to miss Lily's end of chemo party. As he leaves for his meeting, Lily and Mac arrive. With hugs all around, it's reported that Neil won't be able to attend either - but with Lily deciding not to postpone, she and Mac order orange juice.
Peanut butter and bacon? Vikki scoffs. It's not for JT - it's for Reed - the 'B' now stands for bacon not banana. Vikki didn't realize that. She DOESN'T feel bad - it's a sandwich for God's sake - Vikki knows the important things. When JT implies Vikki puts work ahead of her family, she's quick to remind that HE'S the one who wanted to move New York. And NOW he's working for Tucker. How is THAT 'for the family'? When Victor's name's inevitably brought into it, Vikki points out that HE'S not to blame for their problems. The bickering continues - Did Vikki decline Jabot's CEO position to spend time with Reed? To work on their marriage? What marriage? Vikki snaps. Exactly! JT snaps back. Arriving as JT storms out, Nikki realizes what she walked in on.
In their suite, Adam decides to take his gorgeous wife to lunch (as Tucker doesn't need him at the meeting). Sharon's packing - not to leave GC - but to move into the restored house. We can move back in! Leaving town would feel like 'running away'. Adam's happy as long as he's with Sharon. When Jack arrives with the keys, Adam invites him in. Thanking Jack for finishing the house so quickly, Sharon gets back to packing (leaving Jack to ask Adam if he's considered his offer). Ah ha - that's why Jack's being so polite and kind. Unconcerned, Jack won't oversell it - he figures Adam will come running when Victor kicks him to the curb.
Meanwhile, Ashley leaves Jack a message regarding the keys to Brad's place - she's ready to move from the ranch. Victor arrives to ask about her accusations against Adam - kindly tell me what you think he did.
Cane meets Tucker before their meeting - to hear he's selling all CI's divisions - he'll start a feeding frenzy (like he did with Jabot). Cane suggests he merge a few companies - but no - it's all going. WHEN he tells Kay (as he knows he will) remind her how much money she stands to make. Go on now - Tucker's sure Kay's expecting him.
At the mausoleum, Neil finds Kay surrounded by boxes - Tucker's life in chronological order - starting with the recording label in the 80's. When she points out the various organized boxes (including one of 'red flags'), Neil has to wonder how long she's been at this. Since the wee hours - and she won't be taking a break until she finds the 'smoking gun'. It'll be a cold day in hell before Kay lets her 'pirate' son demolish her life.
Neil wants to bring in CI lawyers. They may be Tucker's lawyers now - but they're loyal to you, he assures Kay. She's determined to find Tucker's weakness. Unfortunately he's 'thorough'. He has good taste - if not in his good life (a shot at Jill). Cane brings in a box from GCU's library - but bad news too - they don't HAVE time - Tucker's selling off the rest of CI - right now.
Nikki reassures Vikki she's not a bad mother - regardless of what JT says. Maybe she needs to reconsider the living arrangement - move up to the main house. Vikki can't be around Victor right now - this ISN'T a business disagreement. Victor jeopardized Vikki's business reputation - and confided in Adam over her.
Victor insists it IS his business - and his fight. (his son trying to gaslight his wife). Ashley absolves Victor (who DID try to get Adam off the ranch). Alas, Ashley was lead to believe HE was the only person she could trust.Oh why did he do this to me? Certain it was Adam, Ashley has no proof - but the more she remembers the more certain she is (and the more glad she's leaving 'this place').
JT tells the potential buyers of the files he's passed out- he'll be glad to provide financial statements - and answer questions. When he turns it over to Mr McCall, Tucker talks of the company's that have been in CI's stable for years - all are thoroughbreds - but there won't be any bargains today - bring your best offer or walk away empty handed. He'll take bids for another 55 minutes - then the window closes.
Cane, Neil and Cane start with Tucker's record label in the 80's - new talent became stars overnight. The Midas touch? Or more? If he paid people off, he covered his tracks well. Financial records are in order - no indication of bribes. Here he is photographed with politicians - the Yugoslavian Minister of Culture to helm the 2009 film festival. Kay jumps up - wait! Ah ha - she's got Tucker where she wants him.
Malcolm serves Mac a boiled ginger root based drink - guaranteed to cure morning sickness. Good if you ever plan to have kids, Mac causes an awkward pause. Sure Malcolm wants to be a father again - as he wasn't much of one the first time. Never mind, Lily feels he's making up for it now.
After tending to Reed, Nikki interrupts Vikki and Victor going at it again. Dad was telling me what an ungrateful spoiled brat I am, Vikki whines (like an ungrateful spoiled brat). With Adam involved, Vikki fears another huge scandal. How could Daddy put her in this position? Admitting that Adam may have his own agenda, Victor denies he trusts him more than he does Vikki. He merely wanted her to truthfully be able to say that she knew nothing of the transaction. Well - it's all such a shame - Vikki was looking forward to being Jabot's CEO too. Victor confides another secret - he wants to keep Adam at arms length - away from the family.
In Carlton Manor, Jack and Ashley admire the contractor's great job - it's like the fire never happened! Unaware of Ashley's plans, Jack already told Adam and Sharon they could move back here. Oops. Why doesn't she and the girls move in with him? Thanks but no thanks - Ashley wants to be on her own. On cue, Sharon and Adam arrive - their relief to be 'home' short lived. Ashley hates to disappoint Sharon - but there's been a change of plans.
It's got to be here somewhere, Kay rummages through files - then finds the magazine she's looking for. Here it is - ah ha ha! She opens the magazine to a picture of Tucker in the 80's - and here he is in Alexander Thomas's office 20 years later - whaddaya see? Why it's the same multi million dollar painting on the wall. Tucker must have given it to Thomas under the table (in exchange for Tucker's artists getting preferential radio time). And as it's wondered where else in the world this happened, Neil's sure there must be some written account of who sold and bought the painting. We've got him - exactly where we want him! Kay cackles triumphantly.
Back at the club, the conversation touches briefly on Cane's loyalty to Kay - and that Mac didn't know she was a Chancellor until high school. Similar to Lily's story - and Devon's. Yes - he sometimes thinks about finding his Dad (but hasn't gotten off his ass to do anything about it yet). According to Malcolm, Devon already has the very best Dad anyone could ask for. Mac chimes in - he has the best sister too - but now he has Anna too. Mac won't hear any talk of the Ashby twins having 'two Moms'. She feels 'protective' - not maternal. The babies are for Lily and Cane. Mac gets the easy part - Lily has to raise em. All chuckle.
Ashley assures the disappointed Sharon that her decision doesn't have anything to do with her - or even Adam really. Surely she can understand that Abby feels closer to Colleen here. Sharon does - but isn't this really about punishing Adam? Jack's completely in the dark - huh? Punish Adam for what???
Ashley shuts Jack up - she'll fill him in later. Sorry Sharon - but Ashley just isn't comfortable having Adam on her property (despite it being the same property Adam saved Noah's life on). Ashley's also sorry that Sharon got caught in the crossfire. No, Adam does NOT need Jack's helping finding a place to live - and their 'partnership' is OFF. How dare Ashley treat Sharon this way?! Huh? WHAT partnership? After the Newman's slam out, Ashley has questions too.
OK - maybe Vikki's decision (to decline the CEO position) IS slightly influenced by JT's accusation (that she's neglecting Reed). She wants to be more 'available' to her son. While Nikki still has hope for the marriage, Vikki doesn't. OK - then Vikki needs to protect her son from the bitterness and hostility. What's Vikki to do? Take Reed from the only home he knows - and the father he adores? Vikki has her parent's support no matter what she decides ~hug~
At the bar, JT can't tell Mac what's going on 'over there' - but she'll know soon enough. Poor Grandma - but how's JT doing? Horrible - focused on protecting Reed as much as he can. You're a good Dad, Mac praises - then gets back to the Winter's table as Cane joins them full of optimism that they may have found a way to help Kay. A middle aged balding man comes over to greet Cane like an old friend. How are you? It hasn't been THAT long, he chides the confused Cane. You have the wrong guy, Cane gets a few suspicious glances from around the table.
Back at the suite, Adam sure does hate that Sharon's being dragged down with him - Ashley's gonna tell Jack - and then he'll tell two friends - and they'll tell two friends - and so on and so on. Running doesn't seem like such a bad idea to Adam - he's sick and tired of making Sharon's life a living hell. They can't 'start over' until they stop fighting the past. Let's get out of here - destination anywhere - how 'bout Paris? Running away won't make Adam look any MORE guilty - everyone's convinced anyway. Bottom line - life in GC = hell. Anywhere ELSE, life = a lifelong honeymoon.
What does Vikki need? For Reed to be OK - but how to do that? Victor knows how it feels to see one's child in pain - he only wanted to make HER happy. *sigh* Vikki knows he means well - but doesn't have an answer on Jabot. No rush - Victor's proud of the choice she made *kiss*. As it's time for Vikki to get Reed home, Victor will give the lucky boy a ride on his shoulders. Vikki will have to walk.
Full of confidence, a grinning Kay interrupts Tucker's meeting - please don't get up - how nice to see you all again - this meeting's adjourned. What the hell are you doing? Tucker hisses. This is NOT like Jo Jo's yard sale - it'll net kay a fortune. But Kay doesn't dream of money - she dreams of putting Tucker in his place - does he really want to continue this in front of these lovely people? The quick thinking JT stands to announce a change of plans - he'll be accepting offers on their way out. Don't call us, Kay smiles - we'll call YOU. Now alone, Kay is the proverbial cat that swallowed the canary as she confronts Tucker on the unknown band he turned into an overnight success - quite a coup - how did you EVER manage to pull that off?
Huh? Who's David Belfour? Lily wonders. Don't ask Cane - he has no clue. You got a third identity? Devon's the only one chuckling at his own 'joke'. The subject is dropped when Malcolm raises his glass to toast the mother and father to be - and completely forgotten when Mac feels the babies move! The delighted Ashby's are soon groping Mac's belly (as she describes the feeling - oh my gosh!). Meanwhile, Belfour's on the phone - it's him - Cane Ashby - when do we move on him?
Yeah, so Jack partnered up with Adam - he'd partner with the devil himself to get Jabot back. Why isn't Ashley still kissing Adam's ass anyway? Cause he was the one trying to drive her crazy - THAT's why! She doesn't think - she KNOWS dammit! Meanwhile, Adam must have shown Sharon a great time in bed - cause she's now eager to leave GC. Let's get outta here - there's nothing in CG worth staying for ~kiss~
With Victor back from taking Reed and Vikki home, Nikki's mighty impressed with his piggy backing skills - and hopeful that the Hellstrum's will find their way back to one another - like THEY did. As little hearts float in the air, Victor vows to never let Nikki get away again. And that's just fine with Nikki - there's nowhere else she'd rather be.
More hell for the Hellstrum's (who can't continue like this) It's time JT find his own place. Not likely - JT's NOT leaving his son. Neither of us WANT to leave Reed, Vikki calmly reasons. Really? JT's lip curls into a sneer - cause SHE had NO problem leaving him to go to Dubai.
Kay again wonders how Tucker made household names out of all those 'unknowns'. Knowing what the 'public' wants? Or did Alexander Thomas 'want' that Griffin painting? The one that was in Tucker's collection - and is now in HIS? Picking up steam, Kay now wags her finger - THAT'S how you bribed him for playing your music. She warns her speechless son that the authorities will investigate EVERY deal he's ever made - they'll shut you down!
My Thoughts: Oops - Ok - so, on Friday, Phyllis didn't call Adam 'Betty' - she called him 'buddy' .... Shouldn't Jack consult his new bride before inviting his sister, her spoiled brat and colicky baby to move into the Abbott mansion? ... Victor's really worried about having to hire a lower caliber CEO (than his non-educated daughter)? Wouldn't the employees (and shareholders) just be happy with a CEO who's gonna stay longer than 5 minutes? ... Never mind that the insurance adjuster initially estimated the Carlton home wouldn't be inhabitable for months - it's now exactly the same as before the fire - right down to the undamaged sofa and knick knacks. Remarkable! But was the lock on the front door damaged? Why else would Jack have to hand over the keys? And why wouldn't Abby (the home's owner) have a key? ... Why is Kay commenting on Tucker's lousy taste in women? Didn't she recently say that deep down she will always love Jill? ... If Vikki can't 'be around' Daddy - why is she still living on his property? ... How ridiculous that Mac's already feeling the babies 'move' - like bubbles popping - or popcorn (guess she doesn't mean the microwave kind) ... Having first blamed Estella - and then Patty - WHY would Jack HAVE to believe Ashley now? ... Sharon sees nothing worth staying in GC for? What about her wheelchair bound mother? ... What? Ashley doesn't have proof? I thought that's why she was so eager to get her hands on that little scrap of purple cloth. That WAS her proof ... Victor will never let Nikki 'get' away again? Does that mean he won't drive her away again? Like say - by telling her he wishes she was dead? ... Yeah - Vikki DID 'take off' to Dubai - but she also pleaded with JT for Reed to go with her ... JT's really moved up in the business world - now taking multi million dollar bids and providing financial information. Quite a leap for a glorified security guard. But are these potential buyers really supposed to scrawl bids down on napkins and hand em over to JT on their way out? ... If Ashley has no proof, Kay has even less - isn't it possible that Alexander Thomas had a painting copied (perhaps hired a 'Daniel' to do it) - or maybe it's just a photocopy. It hardly puts Tucker 'right where Kay wants him' ... Why does Vikki feel she has 'no options'? The Hellstrum home IS on Newman property - but if JT won't leave, perhaps Victor should just sell the cottage - or give them a written eviction notice. JT and Vikki can both rent or buy an place and arrange a visitation./custody schedule for JT. Just like thousands of separating parents do every day .. WTH is this guy who thinks Cane's David Belfour? He sure doesn't look like no cattle rustler ... The poor Winter's party - their table's not ready - Tucker's meeting's taking up 'half the room' - and the club thought their reservation was for tomorrow. Don't they know Malcolm's a famous photographer? Why wouldn't Tucker's meeting be held in Jabot's boardroom? Or in the Founder's Room ... Understatement of the day - Malcolm wasn't MUCH of a father the first time around? He wasn't ANY kind of father ... Peanut Butter and BACON? JT's been feeding it to JT 'every day' while Vikki was away? The kid'll have a coronary before having to worry about in who's custody he'll be. Mac's right - JT's a great Dad .. 'Nicholas and Phyllis' told Victor about Ashley's accusations against Adam? Why weren't we privy to THAT conversation? (any scene with Phyllis and Victor would have been more interesting that Mac having popcorn popping in her belly) .. Why is Cane, a self professed 'bar man' telling Tucker (a brilliant entrepreneur) how to conduct his business? .. If the business community are so loyal to Kay, why didn't she hear about Tucker's 'sale'/meeting BEFORE Cane came to tell her it was in progress? ... Kay wants to investigate Tucker - from the beginning - before this 'veil of silence'? What veil of silence? He seems to be a very public man. But if Tucker's SO rich and successful, it makes no sense that he'd be bribing politicians with paintings - as recently as 2009? ... Why would Nikki be happy about Vikki being named CEO? SHE invested 50 million in Jabot - AND once had business aspirations of her OWN (before wiping Victor's ass 24/7 became a fulfilling career to her) |
