Tucker comes knocking at Kay's door this evening - handing over the magazines (with the incriminating photos), and now, his future is in her hands. Meanwhile, Jill's at the club's bar. On the phone with Billy, they bicker over who's the perfect one to question Cane (who's now brought to the Immigration Department's visiting cell). Hi Bro - how are things? Billy quips.
At the boutique, Amber and Chloe wonder if Chance and Kevin found any info on Jana in Chicago. They then exchange 'wow' looks when Lauren comes in to snap about Amber not handling an incoming shipment. I'll do it myself! Lauren huffs off.
At the abandoned zoo, Jana appreciates the water Ryder hands through the bars (and sympathizes with him not wanting to cross his evil sister). As Ryder walks off, Jana calls out for a blanket - it's sooo cold in here. Please. Ryder pauses - what's a poor misguided boy to do.
Meanwhile, Kevin's banging on the hotel room door. Daisy hides as Chance joins him - with the key (the perks of having a badge to flash). Inside, Kevin's instructed not to touch anything - which he immediately does when he finds something of Jana's. Looks like someone's been partying in the messy room - that's NOT Jana - and neither is the man's suit found hanging in the wardrobe. Nu uh, Kevin shakes his head with conviction.
Back at the mausoleum, Tucker sips his tea. No, he's not really there to discuss business - he wants to know about his father. Arthur Hendricks was/is a good man - he doesn't know about Tucker - or that Jill's not his daughter (though THAT news will be a relief). Kay explains that Arthur left GC because Jill was convinced he ... Murdered his wife, Tucker finished the sentence.
The Hardy boys continue to search Jana's room - with Kevin sputtering denials that she 'hooked up' with another guy. Look at this crap, Kevin scoffs at the empty champagne bottle in the bucket. No way! Even if she was ... He's sure there's a conspiracy. Chance goes along - doesn't sound like her - at least they know she's alive. Yes, Kevin's sure it was Jana who called him. And now, Chance is off to the stores where Jana's credit card was used - to get a description - check out the surveillance tapes. Please hurry - Kevin just knows Jana's in trouble.
Likening her 'story' to Ryder's, Jana talks about her art thief art father. Oh, the awful things her made her do. Kevin's forgiveness transformed her life - he'd forgive Ryder too - you'll see - all he has to do is take Jana back - Kevin would be SO grateful. You're NOT like Daisy, Jana calls through the bars - Ryder can have the 'real family' he's always wanted. Looking torn, Ryder hands over a blanket.
Chloe notices Lauren's agony - are you OK? Uggh - these headaches - it'll pass, Lauren assures. When Amber reports a shipment will be in tomorrow, Lauren exhibits forgetfulness and an increasingly bad temper. Chloe and Amber's well intentioned concern is rewarded with more uncharacteristic attitude. You're not my 'friend' - you're my employee. Actually, Lauren decides Amber's neither - you're fired!
At the Department of Immigration, Cane refuses to share what Kay has on Tucker. Billy knows Kay has enough to bring Tucker down - she's too forgiving to those who screw her over (as Cane well knows, right?). When Billy talks of family and brotherhood - urging Cane to 'man up', a fed up Cane bangs the table. Billy smacks the table too - taunting Cane on what a 'scary' man he is. Sneering at the notion of 'banding together like brothers', Cane WON'T break Kay's trust - especially to someone like Billy.
No, Kay doesn't think Arthur killed his wife (but knew they could never be happy together). Had he known she was pregnant, Arthur would have done the 'honourable' thing. But they'd have been miserable - Arthur was different - not 'daring'. Returning home, Jill hears Tucker conclude that he and his father have very different personalities. Covering Tucker's hand with her own, Kay's sorry to admit that his risk taking - and vindictiveness come from HER. Awww, Jill oozes sarcasm - just look at the two of you - this DOES bring back memories.
Chance returns from the stores (where Jana's photo was ID'd). She was alone and reportedly in a good mood. She checked out according to the front desk. Chance may think she's long gone, but Kevin's not convinced - and not leaving. He'll tear this place apart to find out where the hell his wife is - and who's responsible.
Huddled in her blanket, Jana thanks Ryder. But it IS a 'big deal' - it shows he doesn't like what Daisy's doing. He's compassionate - like Kevin. But when she talks of their horrific abuse, Ryder thinks it a load of bull - there's nothing wrong with his Dad - Kevin was a weak snot nosed brat who deserved everything he got. Tom never laid a hand on Ryder - know why? Because HE didn't deserve it. Ryder had a great childhood. The pitiful Kevin made him look good - no wonder I was his favourite. A horrified Jana's quietly weeping by the time Daisy appears at Ryder's side - glaring down at her through the bars.
Chloe, then Amber offer to take Lauren to the hospital. No - Daisy can't cover - she has a school project to do. I have no one, Lauren's wails (as Chloe and Amber stare, horrified). Oh my God! I don't know what's the matter with me - No - don't call Mike - I don't want him to see me like this! As Chloe hands over Kleenex and reassurance to the now apologetic Lauren (who doesn't know what's wrong with her), Amber calls the doctor. Chance calls Chloe with news - looks like Jana left Kevin for someone else. Kevin won't accept it - is Amber there? He'll need his friends tonight. Poor guy. Chloe sighs.
Billy continues to work on Cane - doesn't he care what Jill's going through? Cane balks at the guilt trip - knowing Billy wants to sell magazines (NOT defend Jill's honour). And No, Cane doesn't want money. Sure his 'brother' will soon be deported, Billy wonders if THIS is how Cane really wants to be remembered (not giving a damn what happens to 'Mom'). That seems to finally strike a chord with Cane.
Back at the mausoleum, Jill talks of being the prodigal child once herself - being welcomed home. Arthur? Jill has no idea where he is - but suspects that's not why Tucker's there - he's there to call a truce - because he's being blackmailed. What? You thought she (Kay) would keep this secret to herself? Jill scoffs. When Tucker guesses that 'Darlin's'' just digging, Kay agrees - she's just chasing rumours - with as little success as she had chasing men.
Cane won't divulge what Kay found - but he DOES love Jill - so will share how Kay found it. Where to look? Photos - with famous paintings in the background. Billy doesn't get it. Yeah, well - that's more than what Kay had to go on - 'figure it out', are Cane's last words before the visit ends.
Jill wonders why Kay's defending Tucker - but can't forgive HER (for 'jumping back into his bed'). As Kay takes Tucker off for a walk about the grounds, Billy calls Jill - we need to look for photos of Tucker - with famous paintings. Meet me at the club, Jill barks as she rummages through Kay's box of Tucker clippings.
Everything's designed to make her look guilty, Kevin rants - like someone staged this. He won't stop looking for his wife. Chance has to get back to GC (regarding another case) - sorry. He doubts Kevin will find more answers here anyway. Now alone, Kevin calls Jana's cell - he's at this hotel in Chicago - where it seems she's been with some other guy. Whatever the hell's going on, Kevin's scared - but won't give up (OR stop searching). Thanks to Daisy having Jana's phone on speaker, the distraught Jana's heard Kevin's emotional message. Now whadda we do? Ryder wonders.
Kleenex and mug in hand, Lauren can't believe her fool self. Your prescription's on it's way, Amber informs. Lauren thanks her - and sends the two off with more apologies. No, Amber's SO not fired - now go support Kevin. Amber doesn't care WHAT they found - Jana's NOT with another guy. Chloe shrugs - according to Chance, it looks like Jana's in Chicago with a lover.
See? Kevin won't lose faith, Jana tells her captors - Kevin knows I love him. Hmmm, Daisy will have to come up with something else - what would Dad do? Find a small dark place and lock Kevin away. Is THAT what you want us to do? Daisy loudly taunts Jana - write a letter to Kevin - explain why you left, she tosses paper and pen through the bars.
Tucker thanks Kay for the tour - now seeming to understand that she couldn't have raised him there (her husband would have thrown them both out). Tucker again comments that Kay isn't what he expected. Good - Kay likes to defy expectations (another thing they have in common). Perhaps Kay can put up with him a little while longer? So they can catch up.
Now at the club, Jill's brought a box of files Kay had in the living room. As she and Billy rummage through them for photos, Billy admits Cane DOES want to help Jill (surprise, surprise). What's this? Billy has a newspaper photo. Recognize this painting? No - but here it is again, Jill shows a magazine photo. Must be what Cane's talking about - but what does it mean?
A new Fab Four meet at CL's. Chloe doesn't seem to believe that Jana left everything behind - her family, friends - for a guy she never mentioned before - not even to her BFF, Amber (who knows that Jana's world revolved around Kevin). Chance isn't eager to report what they found with the GCPD (who'd cancel the search). Kevin grumbles that he played right into their hands (going to the hotel) - whoever the hell THEY are. Chance then has another topic to discuss with Chloe - Riggs reportedly committed suicide (though Chance isn't buying it - and suspects someone on the force).
At the front door, Tucker thanks Kay for an 'enlightening' evening - maybe they can even find something to like about one another. Kay already has. Back at the club, Billy and Jill continue to investigate. Hmmm - what kind of business would Tucker have with the Cultural Minister of Yugoslavia? And who's painting IS it? Thomas'? Tucker's? Eureka - Jill's 'got it' - Tucker exchanged the painting for widespread International airplay (of his bands). Photo in hand, Billy wonders if that's it - could this be the next cover of RS?
Daisy drops by the boutique - sorry to hear Lauren's not feeling well (and that she 'lost it' on Amber). Her school project? Not quite done - we hit a little snag - but we're back on track now. Sure, Daisy can hand Lauren her mug of water (after adding a little sumthin to it). Lauren isn't thrilled with the many side effects on her meds - but just wants to get rid of the headaches - be herself again.
Cheer up - you just saved your husband's life, Ryder tells Jana (who's written Kevin a letter). I hate you! Jana snivels and shouts - hoping that one day Ryder REALLY loves someone - that's the ONLY way he'll understand what a horrible thing he just made her do. His back to Jana, Ryder again looks guilty.
Kevin gets a letter by courier - it's Jana's handwriting! Jana's voice reads the words aloud (her heart breaks - knowing how much it'll hurt him. But she has to be clear so they can both move on - she's left GC never to return. Blah blah blah. When Kevin can't continue, Amber takes over - it's for the best, Jana. Amber's so sorry. No! Kevin crumples the paper up - Jana didn't write this - no way!
Next: On her suite's sofa, Sharon nods off into nightmare land (with the photo copies beside her) What are we playing for? We're playing for the baby, Skye says - with a glass of wine in hand. Cut to Sharon in a hospital bed. She didn't die!? It's just a bad dream, Nick reassures as he kisses her hand .... Looks like Ashley's having nightmares too - Victor has Faith in his arms - you're living with me now - I'll never let you down - unlike your mother. I'm not gonna let you stand between me and my baby - not anymore! an angry Ashley shouts.
My Thoughts: Good thing Jana's light coloured coat didn't get ANY dirt on it while she was sleeping on a bed of leaves and dirt - Daisy can't very well be shopping in Chicago in a dirty coat. Guess that's why Jana's whining about being cold and begging for a blankie (though you'd think Daisy could have given her another jacket) .... Hmm - coulda sworn I heard Kay say the name Arthur Anderson - not Hendricks. Of course he's an honourable man - 'his honour' - is a Judge. But what's so honourable about impregnating a married woman? Why doesn't Tucker show any interest in finding HIM? ... Good thing Arthur's NOT Jill's Daddy (as that would mean Tucker slept with his sister. Euuuw) The close call SHOULD inspire him to do some investigating BEFORE jumping into bed with strange women - and maybe think about having a fourth DNA test to prove that Kay's NOT Jill's Mom too. But then again - since the deed's already been done, perhaps he doesn't WANT to know if he had sex with his sister ... Kay couldn't be happy with Arthur because he wasn't 'daring' enough? He WAS a risk taker - he once turned the garden hose on Jill and Kay didn't he - getting both their HAIR wet - if that's not daring, I don't know what is ...... Tucker's fate doesn't really lie in the hands of whomever has the photos Kay cut out - they appeared in a national newspaper - and magazine - copies could easily be obtained. Instead of playing pass the photos, Tucker should be heading to Yugoslavia - to buy the painting back (give the Minister a heads up that questions might be asked - perhaps offer another bribe to shut him up) - you know, just in case someone else notices (and gives a crap) .... Bravo Detective Chancellor - 'Jana's alive', he declares (but didn't Kevin already know that? On account of her call - and shopping spree). Shouldn't Kevin have thought to ask what stores Jana's card was used at? High end designer clothing that are actually colour coordinated - or were the purchases mismatched argyle retro garb from a vintage clothing store. WHAT was purchased might provide another clue that something's 'off' (if the clothes are more Daisy's style than Jana's) ... Amber fired? Who knew she still worked at the boutique? And what exactly would be the 'cause' of her dismissal? Concern for the boss? Why is Chloe loitering at the boutique - instead of working on RS's next issue? ... Why is Kay answering her own door? Security didn't call ahead to notify Tucker was coming? Kay didn't notice Jill walking out with a large box of her files? Or wonder where it went after a tour of the 'grounds'? Why are they touring the grounds in the dark anyway? And wasn't Tucker already given the grand tour on his first visit to the mausoleum? ... How on earth did Jana's letter already make it's way to CL's - with the speed of an email? Too bad Kevin crumpled the letter up - it might have provided clues (perhaps with fingerprints - or the same type of paper or ink Daisy uses for school or sumthin') ... Ryder almost makes it sound like he and Kevin grew up together with Terrible Tom (which obviously isn't true) - so, how did Kevin make Ryder 'look good'? And why would Ryder take Tom's word that Kevin was a pathetic snot nosed brat? Hard to believe that Tom was so 'terrible' to Kevin (and everyone else except Ashley) - yet was Father of the Year to Ryder ...Good Lord - how long does Jill's phone ring before it goes to voicemail? ... She and Billy can't find a more private place to meet while they search for ammo on Tucker? Like Billy's office at RS? Yet no waiter comes along to ask the Abbott's if they're ever gonna get around to ordering anything? What percentage does one tip when using the club's dining table as nothing but a desk? ... So, just anyone can call in to repeat a subscription? (which usually can't be refilled by phone) - plus, it's prescribed to someone else. Why did Lauren let herself run out of meds anyway? ... Jana really hopes Ryder finds someone to really, really love one day? Wow young lady - that's quite a harsh punishment for a kidnapper you 'hate' ... Which part of 'don't touch anything' does Kevin not understand? (and if Kevin can't touch anything, why does Chance get to?) ... Why didn't Kay ever bother to let Arthur Hendricks know that he's NOT Jill's father? And why would that news bring him 'relief'? Last I recall, he and Jill had a friendly relationship - and it's not like they have any contact either way. And if Tucker doesn't know anything about about Arthur, how did he know that he was suspected of killing his wife? |
