In her nightie, Sharon gulps her wine - be calm - be smart. I'm worried, she leaves yet another 'call me asap' message for Adam, then goes back to reading Skye's journal. I've lost so much already, Sharon seethes, framed wedding photo in hand - I won't let you take anything else from me, she vows - then replaces the photo, frame down. And now to rest - in preparation of her showdown with Adam.
Also ready for bed, Ashley calls regarding the forensics test done on the piece of cloth. She's convinced that tomorrow morning, the results will prove that Adam was trying to drive her insane. Ashley now talks to the bassinet - she and 'sweet pea' won't let anyone mess with them.
Sharon's nightmare begins with her following a babies cries - to the suite next door. Tip toeing inside, she finds Skye shuffling a deck of cards. Sharon's worried about the baby - who's is she? Wait - I know you. Of course you do - you're reading the innermost thoughts of a dead girl. Skye then suggests a card game - what are they playing for? Big stakes - the baby.
Ashley's nightmare also begins with her awakening with a start - thunder and lightening providing an eerie backdrop. Jumping off the sofa downstairs, Ashley panics to find the bassinet empty. Mommy's coming, she races upstairs, - only to be intercepted by Adam - the 'only friend she's got'.
Sharon picks up her cards - but loses without even playing them. If she wants the baby, she better focus on the game (not the crying baby). Skye's flip about her 'crap' luck with babies. Watch your mouth, Sharon snaps - deal the cards. Mine are all blank, Sharon panics. So easy, Skye chuckles - so NOT Adam's type - he doesn't DO love OR trust. He's a scammer, a con - he wanted you to blackmail Dr Taylor. Skye's creeped out - but flattered. What's going on? Why would Adam con ME? Sharon wonders. You're dense and stubborn, but not naive, Skye sneers - you knew what he was after. And now Phyllis is her opponent. Cards in hand, and wearing Skye's nightie, Phyllis now taunts - Adam was using you to get to Nick. Ohhh - you're sooo strong and beautiful - so brave. You fall into his arms - said I do - became Mrs Newman - again. Phyllis lays her cards down. But mine are blank, Sharon wails - who won? Phyllis did - she has Nick - game over. We're not playing for Nick - we're playing for the baby! Phyllis wags her finger - no baby for YOU. No baby for YOU.
Mommy's coming - I won't let anything happen to you - If I lose you I've lost too, Ashley cries up the stairs. Adam arrives - dabbing fake sweat with the purple cloth. Ashley rehashes her suspicions - but soon she'll be able to prove he's a liar. Adam taunts - unconcerned. You're doing it again, Ashley accuses him of trying to drive her crazy - of bringing Dr Taylor, the predator, to her. Why? This is all news to me, Adam's face and voice are warped. Nick, Sharon and Phyllis appear to stare Ashley down - but when she reminds them of their suspicions, they now support Adam. There's no shame in needing help, Adam puts an arm around Ashley. Don't look at me that way - stop it, Ashley barks at the crowd. Oh baby - thank God you're here, Ashley awakens from her nightmare - my baby - my perfect baby, she coos to the bassinet beside her bed.
But wait - it's not over yet folks. Ashley tosses and turns as the nightmares continue. Downstairs, Ashley asks Victor where the baby is. With me? Victor scowls - what are you talking about? Ashley looks down to see Faith in her arms. She was there all along, Victor looks concerned - and removes Faith from her arms. You're with me now - I'll never let you down - unlike your mother. Ashley balks - I love both my girls, you know that. Love them from a distance, Victor orders - it'll be better for both of them. Ashley needs Abby and Faith ... Or you'd lose your mind, Victor interrupts. A crying Ashley won't let her cruel ex punish her girls the way he punishes EVERYBODY. Snatching for the baby, Ashley's left holding a blanket. Victor wonders what's the matter with her - you ripped an empty blanket from my hands. And as Ashley weeps for her baby, clutching the blanket, Victor thinks her insane - she needs to be institutionalized. Go quietly - for the sake of the children. Running, Ashley's now at the club - where she implores Jack to help her. Don't let them lock me up again, she clings.
Sharon's rolling about in bed too. In her nightmares, she's at the scene of her wedding (as Phyllis talks of Adam stringing her along - because she's so needy). I loved him - but now I know better, she calls out into the dark. Nick appears - real love? You wanted to get over ME. I AM, Sharon insists. Face it - this is about ME - it always has been. Hey baby, a totally underdressed Phyllis runs over to kiss Nick - is she bothering you with her needy, clingy thing again? Lemme guess - she brought up Cassie - again. Sharon argues - YOU used Cassie - moved in on Nick while he was grieving our daughter. He's MINE - you can't have him back, Phyllis is draped all over Nick. And now, the trio are back in Sharon's suite. Dressed in a housekeeping uniform, Phyllis is writing 'I hate myself' in lipstick on the mirror. I don't hate myself, Sharon insists to Nick. Then why marry Adam? Sharon throws the lipstick Phyllis gives her - No - I'm NOT weak - not that person anymore - not a fragile doll in need of rescuing - get away from me! As Sharon frantically wipes Phyllis' words off the mirror, Nick pops up again - You'll never be alone, he assures. Sharon grabs her belly - the baby kicked - she's alive! Oh Nick! (the proud father grins - and holds Sharon lovingly).
Now Sharon's nightmare takes her to the boutique. Sharon must find the baby she hears crying - but Jack doesn't hear anything. He pulls a baby sleeper, complete with hanger, from her purse - you're stealing again? You don't NEED baby clothes - there IS no baby. I felt her kick! Sharon grabs her belly - it was real - wasn't it? Jack wanted it too - planned for a baby that wasn't his - kept the lie going long after he knew - as a sacrifice for Nick - ALWAYS Nick. No - he DOESN'T hear a baby - there IS no baby - we both have NOTHING - you got what you deserve!
At the foot of the stairs, a scared Ashley cradles Faith - talking herself into going up - one step at a time. When Jack appears, Ashley assures him she isn't crazy - Victor's wrong. My baby girl - secure in my arms, she coos at Faith. There's something wrong with the stairs - isn't it crazy? Jack looks concerned - he knows how much she wanted a baby. But - there was an accident - the baby didn't make it. Ashley can't listen anymore - she has to get the baby to bed. Now clutching an empty blanket, Ashley shouts up the stairs - go away! There's no one there, Jack gently soothes. There's no Faith - it's an empty blanket. Looking down - seeing he's right, Ashley panics - Faith! Where are you?! We all understand and want to help, Jack comforts - your baby died. Ashley now holds Faith - time for bed. Jack continues to look at her like she's lost her marbles - 'this isn't real'.
Sharon and Nick are back in Tahoe. Sharon holds her belly (where her baby is safe and sound). This is what she's wanted always - but every time they get close, something happens. Nick holds up Cassie's family drawing - look closer. Faith is with us - Cassie drew her - our family. You always believed in us, Nick thanks Sharon - once the baby comes, they'll have everything they ever wanted ~kiss~ In her sleep, Sharon smiles ( as she dreams of kissing one brother - wearing the other one's ring).
Ashley's sitting (and talking to herself) in a hospital bed. Wearing a straight jacket, she describes the excruciating ache in her heart when she lost Robert. So, she envisioned him alive - as a coping mechanism. An unseen therapist jots down notes as Ashley talks of going on with her life as best she could - the joy of getting pregnant again - an unexpected miracle. Faith is fine - but she still has moments of fear - if anything happened to her. Things started to go 'off' again - something was wrong - her brothers knew it - wanted her to get help... Adam was the only one to believe in her - she trusted him - but he manipulated her - but why? She and Faith are fine - what was he after? Do YOU have any insight? Oh look - the therapist is Adam - just concentrate on getting well. No! Ashley fights her straight jacket.
As Nick talks to the baby in Sharon's belly, Adam arrives with food. You can't be here, Sharon stands. Adam hopes she hasn't broken their wedding vows. I brought spaghetti, peeled grapes, prima vera. She's mine now, Nick says - so's the baby. The baby's gone - did you forget to tell him? Adam wonders. Wait - Adam will go back outside - come in again - it'll be different. No, Sharon argues - Nick and I are forever. She gave Adam chances - but he wasn't honest. But you saved me, Adam whines - you never let me explain about Dr Taylor. As Sharon goes into labour, Adam calls the doctor - she's having our baby. No! No! I want Nick! Adam will put the bag in the car and come back for Sharon - this is it - our real family.
Back to Ashley's struggle with the evil staircase. As the storm rages on, she hears Faith cry - but on the staircase, she runs into a veiled Sabrina. Ashley falls - into snow. No! her arms are empty. Faith? Where are you!?
Sharon labours in a hospital bed - it's OK - the doctor's coming, she reassures her belly. Please! My baby's coming! Nick arrives in scrubs - we'll do this together - I'll never leave again. Our baby's coming, Sharon gasps - promise she'll be OK. Don't be scared - Nick's right there - just breathe. She didn't die? No - it was a bad dream. This is it - push. And with one push, Sharon calls out for the baby she hears crying. Nick's replaced by Adam - our baby didn't make it. No! Sharon shouts - stop it! I heard her cry - let me see her, Sharon pleads over and over. Adam tries to calm her down - there's no Faith. Bring her to me, Sharon demands - I heard her cry. I need to see her - let me hold her just once. Faith, Faith!
In her nightie, Ashley wanders around the woods looking for her baby. Victor appears - why is she out here? You think she's hiding in the bushes or something. Adam arrives - arm around Victor, he too questions her sanity. Jack arrives too - offering to help - we'll all help (get a good doctor). I'm sane and healthy - I can prove it - now get out of the way so she can find her daughter. I'll find it myself.
The phone ringing wakens Ashley from her nightmares. It's the lab - and they did indeed find traces of blood on the cloth. I knew it - thank you so much, Ashley hangs up - it's over! I've got proof - Adam can't hurt us anymore, she whispers.
As Sharon sobs in her hospital bed, Nick brings in the baby. Yes, it's really Faith - did you hear her crying? Yes - Sharon did - nobody believed her. She's perfect - beautiful, Sharon now sheds happy tears - Mommy's got you - I'll never let you go. Don't - and I won't let YOU go, Nick promises.
It's morning as Sharon awakens in bed alone. Her smile fades as reality sets in. Crying for Faith, she hears the door - then rolls over to glare at Adam. I'm back.
Next: I'm actually starting to think I could like you, Tucker says. I'm beginning to think the same thing, Kay replies ... On the CL's patio, Chance confides in Syd - I got a phone call - warning me that my life's in danger ... You might want to read this, Sharon hands Adam the photocopies of Skye's journal. What IS this? Skye's diary.
My Thoughts: Well - I really don't have too much to say about today's show. Wonderful acting - but about half way through I was hoping the nightmares would end - and this storyline would finally go somewhere (and I could stop typing). There's an hour I'll never get back *sigh* But - it does seem the end is finally in sight - and if I had to take anything from today's show, I'd say it foreshadows Ashley's slip back into insanity - and Sharon's reconciliation with Nick (neither of which will be a surprise - even if Nick and Sharon's kiss isn't quite as convincing as those Nick and Phyllis share). |
