The Ashby’s are at the Department of Immigration visiting cell. Yes, Lily rescheduled her scan – for later that day. Cane reports that Baldwin’s taken over his case. You’re NOT a criminal, Lily wails - we have to make the authorities see that. Of course she’s supportive – she’s his WIFE. Yes, and that’s why she’ll follow Cane to Australia if he’s deported.

At the Abbott mansion, Patty’s studying up on psychiatry – butchering all the big words. Dammit Emily - why couldn't you just be a clerk or sumthin’? Jack greets his lovely bride – with flowers – and a beautiful garnet necklace – Kyle’s birthstone – to thank her for bringing him back into Jack’s life. The unselfish act just blows him away. I’d do anything for you, Patty thanks Jack with a hug.

Confined to a hospital bed still, Emily’s not happy to hear she’s to be returned to the facility for the criminally insane - and continues to deny she’s Patty – I’m Emily Peterson. Patty overpowered me – drugged me – switched places with me. Paul’s focus is on having her released into his custody (keeping her out of the institution) – we’ll figure the rest out later. There’s nothing to figure out – Emily’s not his sister (and can prove it).

At the boutique, Daisy’s on the phone – ordering some more liquid X (her friend’s really into it). Meet you in the alley. Arriving, Mike confides his lead didn’t pan out. Yes, he IS frustrated (and there for some of Lauren’s moral support before he breaks it to Kevin). Daisy reports that Lauren’s suffering more headaches – but the medicine’s helping a bit. And as customers can’t help but watch, Lauren runs into Mike’s arms – Ohhhhh – I missed you so much ~kiss~ And as she enthusiastically raves about ‘last night’ – and takes the term ‘public display of affection’ to a whole new level, Mike squirms in discomfort (much to the amusement of Daisy – if not the prudish customer).

In the suite, Adam assumes Victor’s upset because he missed the hearing – so wants to explain. Victor’s all ears – go ahead – explain. Meanwhile, at the Carlton Manor, a horrified Ashley reads Skye’s journal aloud. Adam lied – he KNEW Dr Taylor was a degenerate. S’OK, she consoles Sharon – he fooled me too. With proof, Ashley now hopes Heather will investigate. A determined Sharon suggests they comb every page – find out what Adam was doing – and why.

Cane doesn’t see how Lily can leave GC – her family, friends and doctor’s are HERE. Plus, she has to be with Mac when the babies come. Hmm, Lily looks glum – realizing he’s got a point.

As Lauren continues to verge on foreplay, Mike reminds her they’re in public. Mrs Randall! Lauren now wraps an arm around the stunned customer – are you having as wonderful a day as I am? ‘Apparently not’, Mrs Randall clip clops off - leaving Lauren to dry hump Mike (who asks about the pills). They’re pink – and great. Yes, she’ll show them to him. Aren’t they beautiful? Mike eyes them suspiciously, (as Lauren claims to feel like another person). You certainly are, Mike admits (as Lauren tries to get him into her office for some sex). When Lauren sashays off to greet a customer, Mike wastes no time calling the doctor to ask about his wife’s prescription. OK – thank you, he hangs up (then tells Lauren that the doctor claims the pills shouldn’t alter her mood). Good – Lauren doesn’t want her mood changed – she feels FANTASTIC. And with Lauren wrestling the pills from his hand, then clinging to his back, Mike gets a call regarding Cane. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of her, Daisy assures (as Mike reluctantly leaves).

Patty continues to cram knowledge into her addled mind . My head’s going to explode! How am I supposed to remember all this? Stop it – take a deep breath. You can do this – you HAVE to. Meanwhile, Emily, though still weak, is telling Paul all about her years of schooling (of which he takes notes). With all those credentials, surely Patty (with her high school education) couldn’t fake her level of training. You’re an investigator, Emily reminds - INVESTIGATE – ask Patty, the woman you THINK is me, what her GPA was her Senior year – 30.9 – ask who her medical professor was at Emery – she won’t know these things. Find my transcripts – you’ll KNOW I’m telling the truth. Patty, Patty, Paul sighs - Dr P could have told her all these things in the years they spent together. Focus on getting better. Fine – ask her a medical question – the more obscure, the better. Paul will – but now he needs to talk to Dr Stanley. When P grabs his pen to prick her finger for a blood sample, Paul calls out for help. Test my DNA with yours, Emily pleads. After both downplay the ‘Patty’s’ cut finger (to the doctor), Paul agonizes in the hallway (and tosses the bloody napkin in the trash).

At the Carlton manor, Jack’s horrified by Skye’s journal (especially the part where Adam tells her to ‘get over’ being groped during a pelvic exam). He assumes this is why Phyllis came to see him yesterday – but declines saying ‘I told you so’ to either Ashley or Sharon. If Adam hurt either of them, Jack will ‘kill him’.

Adam explains that he skipped the hearing because he feared going back to jail. He went to Hope’s grave in Kansas. Since when did Adam care about perjuring himself? Victor hired him FOR his extraordinary talent for deceit. Adam’s OK – just tweaked his back when he slipped on some ice. Victor has more than the hearing on his mind – let’s talk about everything else you’ve done. Hmm, Adam begins to realize he’s in deep doo doo.

Arriving at the detention center, Mike tells Lily she won’t be able to attend the hearing (which doesn’t go over well). Cane calms her down – he’ll fight to stay (or if necessary to get back to her). NOTHING will keep us apart. And as he and Mike leave, Lily’s left to wait and worry.

Back at the boutique, Lauren’s good mood evaporated as soon as Mike left – and now it’s back to the headaches. The helpful daisy pours her some water (once again spiking it). An embarrassed Lauren calls Mike to apologize – she didn’t even ask how his trip was). I love you – good luck in court. Hmm – could the pills be the reason she feels so weird? Not according to what the doctor told Mike, Daisy smiles, glass of water in hand – as Lauren gobbles a couple down.

Jack brainstorms with Ashley and Sharon – what were Adam’s motives? Revenge against Victor – and HIM? So – taking it a step further – why this particular scam – why involve this obstetrician? Could it have something to do with the baby? Sharon wonders. There’s a piece missing, Jack ‘s frustrated – what IS it? On the sofa, Dumb and Dumber wrack their little brains and wring their little hands.

When Victor brings up Hope, Adam feels she’d be disappointed in BOTH of them. HE encouraged him to break the law – he was following orders – HIS orders – sure would be a shame if that got out. Threatened a second time, Victor considers calling Adam’s bluff. Adam’s just stating a fact – he knows a secret – it’s true – he has proof (unlike all the accusations against HIM). Walking on ‘dangerous ground’? Ha – he’s been in danger since he put himself on the line for Victor (and now he needs to protect him), Victor scoffs at being threatened – he grew up in an orphanage dammit – he ain’t scared of no Adam. Know why they call me ‘Ruthless’?

The meeting of the minds continues with talk of the fateful night they both went into labour at Fairview. Sharon swears she heard her baby cry – then she passed out – woke up in St Mary’s (where Dr Taylor told her she gave birth to a stillborn). Must have been Faith she heard crying – down the hall. Sympathetic, Ashley once again invites Sharon to stay with her. She and the girls would it. That’s settled. Thanks, but Sharon doesn’t need Jack to drive her to the club – she needs some time alone. OK, but Mum’s the word – no one confronts Adam until they have proof.

Her finger now bandaged, Emily requests access to a phone (to call her husband). No can do – against orders, the medic refuses. Emily wants to talk to a doctor – I’M a doctor – please, believe me. Patty better calm down – or she’ll be restrained.

Managing to pour tea with steady hands, ‘Dr P’ talks about ‘Patty’s coping mechanism kicking in – she isn’t pretending to be me – she thinks she IS me. It’s an extreme case of transference. Patty’s ‘scary’ proof? Yes, well – she had access to Dr P’s files when she was a janitor. Paul now relays Patty’s attempt to get a blood test – he threw out the tissue and came straight there. Dr P will do anything to help – but can’t support Paul’s bid to bring Patty home with him. She had a complete psychotic break! Patty’s a danger to herself and others – she needs to be locked away for a very long time. Having let her down before, Paul just wants to make it up to (and take care of) his sister, Paul boo hoo’s as he runs out.

Lauren’s back to floating on air. Dancing first with a sweater – she now whirls Daisy around. Dance with meee – so freeeee. Lauren now calls Mike – hey lover – hurry – I’m ready to partay. Well, she’ll just have to go find someone else to partay with. Of course, Daisy can watch the store. And out Lauren floats.

As luck would have it, Paul’s at Jimmy’s – moaning on the phone to Father Todd – our sister’s so lost. Maybe the coma pushed her over the edge. Patty’s far from the girl they used to know.

You better stay calm – the orderly said they almost had to restrain you. You won’t get away with this Dr P warns Patty. Yeah? Watch me. Stop! Somebody help me! Patty rips her shirt – drags Emily’s hand up to her hair as she shrieks loudly.

Back at the suite, Adam warns that he’ll take everyone down with him – or they hang separately. Sharon interrupts to hear ‘Dad was just leaving’ – of COURSE she’ll be alright – she’s my WIFE. I’ll be OK, Sharon confirms. Don’t do anything rash, Victor warns (which Adam thinks is good advice for both of them). Now alone, Adam wonders if Sharon’s thought about what he said – them being together. Excuse me – Sharon has to pack.

Cane returns to Lily at the Dept. of Immigration. He’s to be deported asap – there’s arrangement’s to be made. What?! Lily’s horrified.

Mike heads back to the boutique – and hears Lauren’s gone. Where the hell could she be? At Jimmy’s, Lauren ignores the persistent ringing of her phone – it’s SO wonderful that Patty’s out of her coma. It would be – except she’s more delusional – doesn’t even know who she is anymore. Lauren rubs Paul’s shoulder – how are you coping? No – it’s NO Paul’s fault. Paul finishes his beer – and THAT’S why he’s drinking in the middle of the day. Lauren knows how to make him feel better (and with a giggle, leans over the table to kiss him).

She should be calmer now, the orderly informs before exiting the hospital room. Now alone again, Patty grins at Emily – enjoying your medication? You’ll be flying soon – weeeeeee! Dr P, ME, has recommended heavy medication for you – and I’m back on your case. She’s also restricted her incarceration (meaning ‘no visitors’). You can’t be trusted. Patty laughs as she dons her coat. Happy trails, are her parting words (leaving Emily to nod off).

Victor leaves a message – call me – there’s been a change of plans regarding Jabot. Meanwhile, Adam pleads with Sharon (who realizes he’ll never be the man she thought he was). I’m leaving you.

Jack’s left to share a crazy thought with Ashley – what if Adam was trying to steal your baby. Dr T was blackmailed to go along with it. A lot of couples would accept a baby no questions asked. Why didn’t they go through with it? I dunno, Jack sighs – and wants to know about the night Ashley delivered Faith. Well – Ashley wasn’t expected to go into labour that night. Neither Dr T or Adam were prepared. Hmm – you WERE early, Jack recalls. OMG – what if they decided to take Sharon’s baby instead – what if she DID hear her little girl cry. She never saw the body – Dr T was the only one who did. Oh God – what if Sharon’s baby DIDN’T die.

Next: He has leverage against both of us, Victor reminds. There’s only one way to fix that, Jack replies – take Jabot out of the equation … I didn’t think you wrote that, Kevin barks into the phone. On the other end, Daisy holds the phone up to Jana (who tells Kevin their marriage is over) …. She’s alive, isn’t she!? Sharon yelps at Adam - my baby is alive!!!!!

My Thoughts: Wait a minute - CI’s corporate legal team has no ‘expertise’ with immigration issues – so Cane retains the services of Mike Baldwin? Um – isn’t HE a corporate lawyer? Since when is HE experienced with immigration law? And with his sister in law missing, his brother having a meltdown, his wife complaining that his clients come first, and his numerous duties at Newman, Mike feels obligated to take on Cane’s deportation case? Guess he’s got free time since he’s not defending any family members at the moment. Doesn’t appear any immigration law expertise was needed – Cane’s an illegal immigrant (and was rubber stamped ‘deported’ as such) – why didn’t Mike get started on any landed immigrant status papers – call upon Cane’s billionaire/pillar of society pseudo Granny? Does Mike even know that Cane could be killed by evil cattle rustlers if he’s shipped back to Australia? Wouldn’t that be grounds for amnesty? (though Philip didn’t seem scared at all when he was celebrating New Year’s on the beach). And why hasn’t Jill been whining down at the Immigration Department? Still with his lips attached to another Newman ass, Neil STILL hasn’t been apprised of his son in law’s detainment - or thought to ask Lily how her cancer scan went? (and we know that was ‘yesterday’ – cause Jack claims that’s when Phyllis came by to see him; yesterday). Is Malcolm still pacing the hallways at GCM? Lily’s jewelry in his hand? Wondering why her scan’s taking so damn long? … Get a clue Paul – PLEASE! Yes – Patty COULD have been told ‘all those things’ – but come ON - would Patty really have been able to REMEMBER all those things? I’ve already forgotten Emily’s GPA (and I heard it an hour ago) And why wouldn’t Paul have had the DNA test run (in a bid to show ‘Patty’ that she’s NOT Emily?) Wouldn’t THAT be an obvious way to force a delusional patient to face reality? When Patty first started taking over P’s persona, Dr P even mentioned to Paul that her being in the room would make it hard for Patty to maintain her persona. … Odd that Skye’s journal indicates that years ago ‘typical Adam’ was a ‘creep’ who’s first thought was to blackmail a doctor (as opposed to consoling his molested girlfriend) – but wait - wasn’t Adam introduced as a good and honest young man? A simple kid raised on a farm? So sensitive that he named the farm’s animals – a hard working lad who put himself through school? Clever enough to graduate second in Harvard – his ambition, not his scheming ways brought him success on Wall Street. Now, we’re supposed to believe that the compassionate Saint Hope raised Adam to be a conniving con artist? An insensitive boyfriend? … Uh oh – add Jack to the list of FWM (Folks With Motive) who’ve verbalized their desire to ‘kill’ Adam (with the actor rumoured to be leaving the show, can a whodunit murder mystery be far behind?) .. Why on earth can’t Lily attend Cane’s immigration hearing? Every other court case is open to the public (the Hellstrum’s were in the audience when Billy refused to name his source) ….. OK – I don’t know much about Ecstasy, MDMA, ‘E’, Adam, hug, beans, clarity, love drug, lover’s speed, the club drug, X – but surely to God, Lauren’s not a realistic example of the effects . If so, the show’s doing a bang up job of promoting and glorifying the drug. Where can I get me some? … And whatever drug Paul slathered all over his scalp, it sure seems to have stimulated his hair follicles … I don’t get Victor’s point – Adam’s supposed to be scared of him cause he grew up in an orphanage? Being raised by nuns made him tough and ‘ruthless’? Is that it? … Sure, her ears are larger than average, but I still doubt Sharon would have heard a baby crying down the hallway at Fairview. Once those heavy doors were locked, no one seemed to hear HER wailing for help … ‘Patty’ tells Dr P she needs to calm down OR she’ll be restrained? Um – IN there cause she tried to kill herself – and within a half hour, managing to puncture herself with a pen – AND (from her bed no less) attack her ‘doctor’, what ELSE does a criminally insane murderer have to do before someone suggests she be restrained? Boy, isn’t PI Paul gonna feel silly when he realizes the wig – oops, I mean the wool’s been pulled over his eyes . Clearly his glasses are fashion, not prescription. Only Jack’s gonna feel sillier … I didn’t know you’d be here, Sharon says with a straight face when finding Victor in her suite at the club. Really? You didn’t notice the way Victor fled the tackyhouse as soon as you said you’d left Adam there? Didn’t seem him duck into a phone booth and come out in a cape? And weren’t you left to say to Nick ‘what do you think Victor will do to Adam’? Yeah Sharon, it’s quite a surprise to find Victor there … Good thing the Carlton manor has no smoke detectors – you could almost smell the smoke as Sharon, Ashley and Jack put their seldom taxed brains to work – and later, the smoke cleared only slightly as Jack and Ashley stumbled upon half the truth – that Sharon’s baby’s alive. Now if only Ashley could remember NOT giving birth – or not feeling the expected discomfort or lactating – or the subsequent weeks of NOT bleeding *sigh*
