OMG - she's alive! EMILY!? Can you hear me? Adrenaline, Emily croaks. Jack barks at the coroner to go find some (then tells Emily to 'hang in there').
Cradled in Paul's arms (as Heather watches on), Patty begs for his help - she'll go away - never to be seen again. Paul knows she's in pain - he has no time machine (to go back and undo what she's done). Patty understands - and has another way out. Ah ha! Grabbing a handy syringe, she holds herself hostage (refusing to be caged like an animal). Stop! Paul implores - as Heather remains useless helpless.
At home, Vikki mopes over Reed's Mother's Day card - flashing back to various bitter arguments with JT (including the slap and the vow to get her son back). She takes a call from Julia - her appeal will be held tomorrow - great - the sooner, the better.
Mac and JT pull apart - wow - that was ... unexpected. But yes - we did - wazzup with that? JT smiles (as a suddenly shy Mac smiles and shrugs).
Liv arrives at the Ashby's - to admire the sonograph photo of the 'cute' babies. Lily's now determined to be around for her children. Liv talks of a stem cell clinic she's managed to arrange. Um - yeah - the Ashby's ARE 'thrilled' (though Lily looks hesitant).
Back at JT's apartment, Mac reminds that it's not their first kiss. Sure Mac would be crazy to be interested in JT (in the middle of a bitter custody battle) - but JT would be crazy to be interested in the walking incubator. Mac should go - to prenatal yoga - see you (and Reed) later. As she marches for the door, JT point out that it's the closet - good night Mac. Good night JT.
Liv talks about the high risk procedure - not proven as a cure, it might buy time - a whole 6-12 months (woopee) - meaning Liv's 'favourite niece' will be stronger for chemo. After Cane's sent off to pick up dinner, Lily thanks Liv (for giving her hope) ~hug~
Paul and Heather try to convince Patty to put the syringe down. Don't come any closer - Patty will be dead by the time Paul reaches her. As Heather slips out, Paul confirms it's the same syringe she used on Emily. Patty HAD to kill Emily - the walls were closing in - there couldn't be two of us - and now, there won't even be one.
Emily still on the slab in nothing but a sheet, Jack tries to wake her up. After the coroner injects her, Emily takes a few gasps - Jack - you finally came, she pants. Jack's sorry he took so long - take it easy. That buzzer? An alarm - must have something to do with Patty.
Don't do this - Paul doesn't want to lose his sister. Oh Paulie - such a good, protective brother. Patty giggles about stories of their childhood. Oh God - she's caused so much trouble. I love you, Paul weeps - put the needle down. No - Patty's caused too much pain - it's better this way. The syringe is empty, Paul points out. Oh yeah - Patty used it on Emily. She moves the syringe to her chest - an air bubble to the heart will do the trick.
JT answers the door - Mac.... Oops - no, it's Vikki - there to see Reed. Just a kiss - she won't wake him. But first - let's talk. Vikki's NOT there to threaten JT - just the oposite.
Arriving at the club for her yoga class, Mac bumps into Cane (who updates on the experimental trial). They'll use stem cells from the babies. Hearing that Liv's explaining it to Lily right now, Mac agrees it's a 'good idea' for her to come over - she has questions.
This is an incredible opportunity - your best bet, Liv raves. Risks? They're minimal. Lily needs to hear more before she comitts.
A faint buzzer going off in the background, Paul continues to stall Patty (who knows she's sinned). No problem. Ask for pennance and forgiveness, Paul's sure that Patty's faith will give her the strength. Trust me - please. Oh Paulie, Patty giggles maniacally.
In the hallway, Jack wheels Emily over to Dr Jasper and Heather (who updates that Patty's threatening to kill herself - Paul's trying to talk her down). Maybe Emily can help. Forget the hospital - sure, Emily will help - not 'after' what Patty did to her - but 'because' of what she did to her.
Paul begs n pleads some more - Patty's heart and soul will tell her what she must do. Patty's not sure she has a soul - she did kill a woman in cold blood after all. Emily hobbles in with Jack (a gaggle of doctor's milling about at the door) - your plan didn't work - I'm still alive. Drats - foiled again! Patty shakes her head, crying.
You should be dead! Patty assumes they'll all be glad to be rid of her. Jack disagrees - enough people have been hurt - don't make it worse. Stay away, Patty snips when Paul edges closer. Reminded of his harsh words to Patty, Jack explains he was only trying to get a reaction. Oh God! Patty thumps the bed - Jack never loved her - he loved Diane and Phyllis - Sharon - Emily! Jack loves HER the most - now he's all yours. Say you want me dead! Nope - that's the last thing Emily wants.
JT won't drop his guard. After all her threats, NOW Vikki's there to make peace? Vikki has no idea how the Judge will rule tomorrow - she's not proud of the way she behaved earlier - she was mad - at herself - that they haven't kept things civil. Once in love, they don't have to be enemies. Vikki now suggests a 'pact' - to put Reed first. Whaddaya say?
When Mac and Cane return, Liv explains harvesting the stem cells via anmiotic fluid. Ouch, Cane winces (while Mac's only concern is the babies). Liv admits 1 in 200 will have complications - possibly mere infection. Sure, the risk is higher because Mac's so far along - and carrying twins. By saving Lily's life we could lose the babies? an unimpressed Mac concludes.
JT knows Vikki loves Reed - but it's been one shock after another (ambushing Adam at the cabin - Nick, then Victor being arrested - Billy - taking Reed to the station). JT's just not used to this craziness. Vikki feels he twists everything - uses it against her. JT will try to be less judgemental - but Vikki must stop blindsiding him. Agreeing to work together, the happy Hellstrum's skip off to Reed's room.
Liv reassures the Ashby's and Mac - risk is low - the procedure will be done by the best OBGYN in the state. Mac worries she could miscarry - again. Liv thinks the chances slim. When Mac heads out to think, Lily understands (and shares) her reaction.
How could you not want me dead? Patty marvels. I put you in the nuthouse - married your fiance - almost killed you. You don't want payback? You're crazier than I am. You're my patient, Emily soothes - she understands why Patty did the things she did. Patty was fragile - then spiraled when hearing of her engagement to Jack. Accepting blame, Emily hopes Patty can forgive HER - for betraying her trust - putting this whole thing in motion. Patty's not a bad person - she has an illness. Yes - she means it - with all her heart. Sobbing, Patty hands the syringe to Paul. And as Patty sobs in Paul's arms, Emily collapses in Jack's (yeah - now might be a good time to take her to GCM).
In the hallway, Heather hugs her weepy father - it's over - kind of. Heather updates that Patty's to be moved to the county jail - solitary confinement. She'll face new charges (then be moved somewhere permanently). As Paul looks into the padded cell from the doorway, Patty (now drugged out and wearing a straight jacket), gives him a lunatic smile. Gulping back tears, Paul forces an encouraging smile and nod.
Cane and Lily understand Mac being overwhelmed. Liv understands too - but it's a risk worth taking. She also understands that the Ashby's need to think it over - she'll have someone hold their spot - but placement's are in high demand - she'll need an answer soon (or it won't be an option).
As the Hellstrum's return to the living room, gushing about their cute (sleeping) son, Mac lets herself into the apartment (as no one heard her knock). You have a key? Vikki snarls - has Mac been spending the night when her little boy's there? Oh noooo - Mac helps out is all - she just got the key tonight. Don't do this, JT sighs. Do WHAT? Vikki growls - and how often has Mac been helping JT with HER son?
It's not what Vikki thinks. JT and Mac take turns explaining that Mac sometimes picks Reed up from school - watches him while JT's running late at work. I'm NOT 'seeing anybody', JT insists. Vikki didn't realize Mac was 'playing Mommy' to her son. She's not being 'ridiculous' - JT's a hypocrite - coming down on HER for keeping things - while HE has a girlfriend. Not JT's girlfriend? Well, Mac WAS - and is certainly making herself at home there. Vikki now turns on Mac (who better forget about taking her place in Reed's life). See you in court! Now alone, JT apologizes for what Mac walked in on. And what DID she walk in on? For a moment, he and Vikki had things in perspective - but now that's gone.
Of course Lily's quiet - she's thinking - about Mac. Yeah - but Cane thinks they should do it. Lily's not so eager - Mac's carrying the only two babies they'll ever have. They may need their mother - but AS their mother, Lily must put them first. Oh, what a connundrum. Cane has a picture in his head - the four of them - a family. How can they not go for this? But if Mac miscarries, it will destroy Lily (who wants Cane to raise their babies - as she might not be around)
From Emily's hospital room, Jack calls Paul with a good prognosis. Thank God, Paul sighs - and thanks to Emily too. Paul's gotta go - Patty's off to county jail. TTYL. Emily doesn't blame Jack for not realizing the truth - but for him to live with Patty ... so long as man and wife - it says a lot. If Jack truly loved her, he'd know Patty wasn't her (and she wouldn't have been locked up - pleading for someone to believe her). Jack insists he's madly in love with Emily - they'll talk when she comes home. I'm not coming home, Emily announces.
Led out in her straightjacket, Patty's told that she'll be taken someplace new. Pausing, Patty babbles about going tot he lake - she's done her homework. Can we go now? It'd make her so happy. *sniff* That's all Paul's ever wanted. Time to go - the officers and doctors lead Patty away (leaving Paul to sniffle in Heather's arms).
Next: As Phyllis stands by, Tawny (Amber's Mom) points her finger at Daniel - tell her to get her butt back here - and bring that boy - or I'm calling the police .... If you and JT are meant to be together again, you will be, a weepy Nikki assures Vikki ..... At the club, an unhappy JT concludes that Tucker wants him to spy on Victoria's company (judging by Tucker's face, that's exactly what he wants)
My Thoughts: What was the purpose of that annoying intermittent buzzer going off in Walworth? There wasn't any risk of Patty escaping - and no doctor's swarmed into the padded cell like there was a big emergency. And why would Jack assumed it had anything to do with Patty - couldn't it be the supper bell? .... Patty will be dead - by the time Paul reaches her? (from 3 feet away) - guess she's been posing as a doctor for so long, she actually thinks she knows how long it takes to die from an air bubble to the heart ... How disappointing - couldn't JT have let Mac walk into the closet - so she could 'come out of the closet?' .... After all but abandoning the kid numerous times, Vikki now feels the need to go to JT's to look in on the sleeping Reed? Didn't she spend the day with him - at the zoo police station? ... Vikki's suggested 'pact' sure didn't last long - perhaps they shoulda used JT's boy scout knife to exchange blood - or made a pinky promise or sumthin' - cause the pact - to put Reed first - went right out the window when she started turning green (obviously making her forget that the one 'suffering' is Reed). Not sure why Vikki would be jealous - given how many times she's slept with Billy ... But - where does Mac get off asking JT what she walked in on? Is she forgetting that JT's still married to Vikki? How big is this apartment - that neither JT nor Vikki heard Mac knock at the door? Or did she just use her key? How did Vikki access the building? If JT's so successful, why isn't he in a building with a concierge? .... Why would Jack need to rush Emily to the hospital? Aren't Walworth's doctor's qualified to check her out? Did she go in an amublance? Or did Jack drive her? And how would Emily know she needs adrenaline - with no idea what Patty injected her with? Surprising her first word wasn't 'sweater' or 'blanket' - or maybe 'brrrr' - she must be freezing in the morgue - covered in a flimsy sheet. You'd think Jack might at least throw his coat over her. When the coroner went to get a syringe of adrenaline (cause there's no phone or PA system he could use to summon help), why didn't he think to bring a doctor back with him - surely, he'd have mentioned to someone that one of his stiffs is alive. When the coroner rushed in with the adrenaline syringe, Jack's shooed aside - muttering 'she can't hang in much longer' (how does he know that? He doesn't have any idea what Emily's been injected with either) .... Paul made Pattycakes an honorary member of his boys only club? What a pussy - I'm sure that made him quite popular with the other boys in the club ..... Paul placates Patty - he'll have her taken to a place where people will 'take care' of her. But wait - isn't that why she's in Walworth? Is there yet ANOTHER psychiatric facility in GC she can be transfered to? .. How does Paul know Patty's syringe is empty? Her hand and hair are totally covering it .... How come Patty's hair is such a mess - while Emily's looks like someone just straightened it? ..... Great timing - Emily managing that big long speech - then capping it off by dramatically fainting into Jack's arms .... Don't turn your back on your faith NOW, Paul pleads - but where was Patty's faith when she was running amuck - sinning all over GC? .... Oh yeah - pennance and forgiveness - that's what Patty needs - wonder how many Hail Mary's she'll be required to do. How did no one notice the huge rip in her bunk (where Patty hid her syringe)? ... Why hasn't Paul called to update Father Todd yet? And will he ever call his mother with an update? .... Isn't Jack worried about the cat locked in the pool house - 'marking it's territory' (even though it's male cats who do this)? ..... If Aunt Liv was so 'devastated' over Lily's cancer, why did it take her so long to come to GC? .... The risks to Lily's babies are 'much lower' than Liv's quoted statistics - because the best OBGYN in the state will be performing the procedure? Does that mean that, statistically, risks are higher if some second rate OBGYN sticks the needle in? ... How nice that Aunt Liv managed to bump Lily to the top of a waiting list for this stem cell clinic - never mind other cancerous preggo's who've been waiting patiently for their turn. Also not one to wait, Vikki's custody hearing will take place tomorrow - and she gets notified the evening prior?
