At CL's, Billy admires the photo on Sharon's phone. Planning to show Nick the photos of Faith, Sharon laments the fact that Nick barely got a chance to bond with her. Hmmm - Nick's arrest for killing the brother who stole his baby story sounds like something Billy should write about. Print one thing about Sharon's baby - and her father - and Billy will be joining Adam. Good bye, Billy sings at Sharon's retreating back (as an amused Chloe watches).
In the interrogation room with the Newman's, Mike's brought a cardboard box full of the DA's evidence. But no - there's nothing to exonerate Nick (and the DA's pushing for a quick trial date). Having unpacked the many files, Mike would feel a whole let better if they knew who killed Adam.
In shackles, Patty's leg jiggles nervously (as she waits in the court hallway). Asking the officer for a minute, Chance flashes back to discussing Adam's pet cat with her. I had a cat, Patty babbles (then giggles as she recites '3 Little Kittens Who've Lost Their Mittens).
On the CL's patio, Paul's in a suit - whining to Heather that Patty's in solitary and under suicide watch. Heather will be at her hearing too - as she's consulting with Patty's counsel. Owen is leaning towards prison. Paul objects - Patty's further gone now (than when she was found unfit to stand trial for shooting Victor). Yeah - but - Owen's being slammed for not prosecuting her last time. Paul feels this is about what's best for Patty - not making the DA look good. We MUST convince the Judge that prison is not the way to go.
With Delia on his knee, Billy hears that Chance is busy working on Adam's case. Hmm - does he talk to Chloe about the case? RS needs a Newman scoop in every issue. he only scoops Chloe has involve fashion. So - Billy hands off Delia - to accost Heather (who's not interested in giving an interview). Aw - c'mon - she USED to be 'interested' - for old times sakes? Old times 'mistakes', Heather corrects - as she marches out. Chloe's even more amused - is there anyone in GC he hasn't slept with? When WILL Daddy stop acting like a frat boy? Billy likens himself to George Clooney - besides, it'd drive Chloe insane if he got serious about someone. Dream on - Chloe loves Chance (who's reliable and loyal). So's a dog. Chloe concludes there's not a woman alive who can tame Billy Abbott.
Answering her front door, Vikki whines to her father (about losing her son). I won't be there to tuck him in at night etc etc. and it's all because of Daddy's 'stunt'. Sweetheart - it was no stunt. Victor was trying to help - and promises he'll fix this.
Vikki's given up - she's now lost custody twice to JT - there IS no fix. Victor won't let her 'lose'. JT's right - it IS all about winning for Victor. And sneaking Reed away just confirmed JT was right about the Newman's. OK, so Victor made a mistake - he'll handle JT. NO! His way of handling things cost Vikki her son. Oh, why can't Vikki just have a normal family? And now, she just wants to be left alone. You know where to reach me, Victor exits.
Paul arrives at the courthouse to find Patty begging Chance for his phone - she must call Jack (Cat will die in the poolhouse with no food or water). OK - Chance will call Jack. Good luck with her, Chance leaves Patty to whine about being in jail with the mean prisoners - don't let me go back there. Paul hugs his sister - he'll do everything he can. Oh Paulie - you always take care of me.
At the club, Heather's granted 5 minutes with the DA (to say Patty belongs in a state psychiatric hospital, not prison). She's not competent to stand trial - she's sick. A mentally ill woman won't survive in prison - think of what THAT will do to Owen's career.
As Adam's cell phone wasn't found during the initial sweep, Phyllis suggests someone planted it later. Sharon arrives - to help - and show Nick pictures of Faith drinking from her sippy cup for the first time. Nick mopes - Adam's taken Faith from him twice now. Phyllis is sure they'll find something to get Nick back to his daughters. Coming upon the files of Adam's sessions with his therapist - Patty - Mike concludes that SHE was the accomplice who helped Adam escape the hospital.
Mike didn't interview Patty - she wasn't on the list. But why would she help Adam? She's not the sharpest tool in the shed, Phyllis reminds. Could she have known what Adam was plotting? Could SHE be the real killer? Patty WAS in the basement - she did try to kill Emily - Adam knew her identity. It's more than possible that SHE'S Adam's killer.
On the stand, Paul's not minimizing what Patty's done - making excuses - or asking for leniency. Patty's seriously ill (and won't get the help she needs within the general prison population). It would be cruel to deprive Patty of the help she needs. Heather then stands - her Aunt is a danger to herself and others - but her psychosis prevents her from assisting in her own defense. Oblivious to the proceedings, Patty's happily doing origami. She's not fit to stand trial, Heather concludes. But the Judge sees Ms Williams is the victimizer here - not the fragile innocent they claim her to be.
Dressed for his workout, Billy calls Vikki from the club - how'd the hearing go? A disaster - Dad pulled some stupid stunt - JT got custody. Vikki's having a rotten day. Gotta go - someone at the door ~click~ Proceeding into the gym, Billy eyeballs Victor (who's taking his aggressions out on the punching bag).
Closing her front door, Vikki opens the envelope that's been delivered. Final Decree of Divorce.
As Victor vigorously pounds the bag, Billy saunters over - heard you screwed up the custody hearing today. That's none of your business, Victor grunts. Billy's done enough damage to him and his family. YOU cost Vikki her son, Billy points out. How often does Victor have to warn Billy to stay away from him and Vikki? Or what? Billy's not one of his kids - you can't push me around. Oh - would you like to hit me? His hand conveniently gloved, Victor replies with a quick left jab. Stumbling, but till standing, Billy turns himself back around - to exchanges a smirk with Victor (who looks mighty pleased with himself).
Like matching book ends, in their black wife beaters, Victor does indeed feel better - much better. Good - Billy's glad. Oh yeah - he's gonna hit Victor back alright. Good - Victor's looking forward to it. Giving Victor a mock salute, Billy will see him 'then'.
Chance arrives with apologies for being late. Chloe assumes he got held up with Adam's murder case. This case is a big deal for me, Chance whines. Chloe thought SHE was a big deal. 'We' ARE a big deal, Chance agrees. How can he make it up to Chloe? Smiling flirtatiously, Chloe can think of a few things.
As Patty continues with her arts and crafts, Paul's still trying to convince the Judge that Patty doesn't know right from wrong (as per Dr Peterson) - and needs ongoing therapy. Available within the prison system, Owen interrupts - and these arguments have all been made on Patty's behalf the last time she faced charges. She escaped from a medium security facility - and caused grave harm to Dr Peterson. Paul objects - you think my sister is fit to stand trial? She's sane?! No - of course not - Owen admits she's incapacitated - the people don't object to incarceration in a maximum facility for the criminally insane - with a monitor - if she's rehabilitated enough to stand trial, the people reserve the right to reinstate criminal charges. Paul and Heather nod at one another. We find that acceptable, Heather announces. The Judge doesn't - what about the rights of Patty's victims?
Who would ever suspect that Adam's doctor would help him escape? Posing as Emily, Patty came and went. She could be the key to Nick's release! Great - Nick's fate is in the hands of a psycho - how comforting. Mike races back into the interrogation room - Patty's hearing is in process - if incarcerated she may not be allowed visitors. Let's go! Phyllis and Sharon follow Mike out - leaving Nick to stew.
When Billy shows up, Vikki doesn't want any grief. How'd he get the shiner? Does the 'door' he ran into have a name? Vikki assumes he deserves it. Nothing personal - she's mad at everyone today - her divorce is final. Boo hoo - she and JT had so many dreams. Billy says all the right things - he and Chloe still have a bond. It's not gone for good - trust me. Plenty of people get divorced - they bounce back - like a phoenix - you've gotta be burnt to ashes to be reborn.
Back in the interrogation room, Nick tells Victor that Patty may have killed Adam. Mike, Phyllis and Sharon are at the hearing - trying to talk to her. With a sigh, Victor wishes he'd realized what a disturbed woman Patty is.
Seated beside Patty (who's still making her paper tree), Heather talks of Patty getting by without incident - working - seeking therapy. Still on the stand, Paul wishes Patty'd been left alone - but was taken advantage of by 'certain people' in this town. Can't Patty be put in a hospital where she'll be cared for - get the love and support of her family? Justice will be served for everyone. Looking at the oblivious Patty, the Judge mulls it over.
Mike, Phyllis and Sharon are in the hallway when Patty comes out with Paul and Heather. What is she doing here Paulie? Patty's scared. Phyllis just wants to talk to her - Sharon too. Go away! Patty hates them both. All look stunned when Patty spits that Sarah should have killed Phyllis like she was supposed to!
Explaining that Sarah was to kill Phyllis because she couldn't keep her hands off Jack, Patty then starts reciting Jack and Jill went up the hill .... Huh - that's why Sarah attacked Phyllis, Mike reasons. She didn't keep her part of the bargain ... What was the bargain? Paul and Mike ask Patty. Sarah would kill Phyllis if I killed you, Patty admits - but don't tell her I told you. How? Sarah gave me a gun - bang bang, Patty giggles - it was a good plan (which she then reveals in full). Hmm - Mike realizes that's why Patty came to talk to him (about Lauren) - then wigged out when he mentioned Phyllis had called. She chickened out, Patty rants - I'm in here and she got away. Did you help Adam 'get away'? Sharon asks. Liar, liar - pants on fire, Patty sniffles - I hate Adam - hate him - hate him.
Back in the interrogation room, Nick hopes they made it to the hearing in time to talk to Patty - and how did Vikki's custody hearing go? She lost? What happened? Did JT use Billy against her? No - other circumstances, Victor vaguely replies - he's made it clear that Billy's to stay away from Vikki.
With ice to Billy's shiner, both are soon chuckling when it comes out that Victor caused it. Oh how Vikki's life sucks right now. If only she could hop on the next plane out of here. What's stopping you? Where's your sense of adventure? Billy coerces - let's do it!
With Chloe in the ladies room, Heather updates Chance that Patty's been sent to a facility for the criminally insane. Chance approves - she can get the help she needs. Heather feels horrible - her Dad's torn up - if only there was something she could do. You went to court, Chance is supportive. Chloe returns - to hear the update on Patty. With a kiss, Chance heads back to the station, leaving Chloe and Heather in awkward silence.
Laughing, Vikki and Billy are at the ticket booth at the airport - the next flight out? Detroit. Motown - Motor City - Go Tigers. Um - what's the next flight? Vikki asks - Cincinnati. Billy checks the board - Kingston Jamaica - in an hour. Vikki pays - my treat - let's go have some fun.
Both feeling badly for Vikki, Victor vows to do everything in his power to get Reed back to his mother - and to get Nick out of here. How? Don't you worry about it - Victor will handle it.
Still in the court's hallway, Paul cuts off the questions (as Patty won't speak to Sharon or Phyllis). Patty does however tell Mike that Adam said he'd help her and Jack get back together - if she helped him. He's a bad man, Mike agrees - did you help him escape? Did she see him in the basement? When Patty becomes agitated, Paul puts a stop to the onslaught of questions - he'll try to get the answers himself. As the officer then leads Patty off, Paul vows to stay with her as long as he can. Tell Jack where to find me, Patty calls over her shoulder - Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, she giggles .... Mike has another case to attend to - he'll contact Paul and get back to Sharon and Phyllis. Left with Sharon, Phyllis is determined to get info out of Patty before she's transferred. Yes - she hates both of them - but Phyllis knows someone Patty WILL talk to.
Next: JT lifts Reed up - you me and Mac are gonna hit the road ... Billy and Vikki are in a hotel room (in summer attire) - you wanna get back on the plane? Go back to your problems? Do you? Billy seems to be talking Vikki into staying ... In an interrogation room, Paul interrogates Patty - What did Adam want from you? He wanted a costume for the ball, Patty admits.
My Thoughts: What a wimp Billy is - sucker punched by a billionaire in front of witnesses, then threatened with the same fate Adam got (by his ex booty call), Billy doesn't even think to mention either altercation when chatting with the ADA? And where's the club's staff? Aren't they supposed to take some sort of action when members start assaulting one another? Or is it OK to hit a fellow club member - as long as you use a towel to wipe your sweat off the equipment? But where IS the equipment? For a fancy club (with exorbitant fees I'm sure), it certainly lacks the basic standard work out machinery. And if Billy's to 'join' Adam, does that mean he'll end up in a crate sitting on the airport runway? Has anyone picked him up yet? .. Cute that Victor and Billy were wearing matching ensembles to the gym (and sorry Meghan - but for an old boy, Victor's not in bad shape). Billy likening himself to George Clooney is like me likening myself to Meghan Fox (but surely the journalist must know that confrimed bachelor George is now a family man) .... As usual, Sharon and Phyllis are jostling for position - as mothers of Nick's daughters. As quick as Sharon is to show off photos of Faith, Phyllis reminds that Nick has TWO daughters (too bad she didn't think to bring photos of Summer doing something amazing). They could save some time - and take photos of Summer and Faith together - since they live together now (wonder who's watching all these kids - with everyone who lives at the ranch holed up in Nick's own personal interrogation room) ... And where's Nikki? Looks like she's completely over her cold .... Note how the overly tired Delia fusses in Chloe's arms - actually shoving her 'mother' away. Was Delia's head always so big and round? She looks entirely different - or is it just that we're used to seeing her with a hat on? ... Why does Vikki make it sound like she's never gonna see Reed again? Doesn't she have liberal access? Is jetting off to Kingston, Jamaica the best decision? Is this how she plans to 'handle her own problems'? ... How did it come about that Heather's 'consulting' with Patty's lawyer - and why was SHE doing all the talking? How much is Patty's lawyer being paid to gently nudge her client's shoulder? Isn't Heather speaking for her aunt a conflict of interest? When did she get her job back? ... If incarcerated, what good would it do to have a personal monitoring device on Patty? If the Judge is so concerned with the rights of Patty's victims, why wasn't anyone there to provide a victim impact statement? And what will it take for Father Todd and Mother Mary to make the trip to GC? ... More of Victor spouting - I'll handle this - I'll fix it - leave it to me. He admitted he made a mistake - but never actually said the words 'I'm sorry'. That said, Victor's way of fixing things didn't exactly 'lose' her custody of Reed - she'd already lost (during the proceeding she wasn't able to attend) ... Who's Chloe to comment on Billy sleeping with everyone in town (as she's either married - or slept with all three 'Chancellor' heirs) ... Why was Patty, a dangerous criminal, allowed to loiter in the court's hallway - only attended to by her brother and niece? And what happened to the shackles she was wearing? ... Nice how Nick and Phyllis kept throwing out the words 'nut job' etc. in reference to Patty - with Sharon (who's had her own battles with mental stability - and done a stint in a 'facility'. She too could be described as 'not the sharpest tool in the shed') .... Will Chance ever call Jack? To remind him he has a starving cat in his pool house? ..... Vikki and JT were gonna build a 'dream house'? Puh-lease - in their dreams - like they'd ever move off the Newman compound. That thought is almost as far fetched as Vikki having a 'normal' family - and her marriage to JT lasting forever.
