*The early broadcast is still a day behind - so I'm doing recaps of the 4:30 airing. Can't say if this is a temporary or permanent arrangement.*
Jack tries to cajole the disinterested Emily into dining out - oh - come on - Jack will talk sports - do impersonations of The Mustache. Speak of the devil, Victor arrives (and Emily discreetly vanishes). Nick will do anything for Nick. Good - Victor needs a pair of hands - to dig up Adam's grave.
At the club, Nick, Phyllis and Sharon are debating the delusional Patty's rambling about 'two Adam's'. Mike comes along to announce that (against his advice and the DA's cooperation) to dig up Adam's body (to get dental records). Phyllis sees no choice - Pomerance has moved Nick's trial up to next week. Mike arrives with another piece of the puzzle - a cab driver picked up a passenger (who never removed his mask - and was dropped off on highway 53 - where Adam called). Hmmm - who goes to a corn field late at night? Surely Pomerance will listen - IF they can prove Hightower's the one in the ground.
Behind the counter, Kevin slips in the back to leave yet another message for Jana (and another invitation to drop by CL's). Meanwhile, Jana finds Ryder reading the book she brought him. SHE may not think he belongs in jail, but Ryder's sure the rest of her family does.
Tidying up the apartment, Lauren catches a glimpse of herself in a desk top mirror. Flashing back to Sarah (in the house of mirror's), a distraught Lauren hurls an object - shattering a large wall mounted mirror - shut up! Go away! she sobs.
Still sobbing, Lauren's frantically trashing anything that shows her (and Sarah's) reflection) - including the compact from her purse. I never wanna see that bitch again!
Through the bars, Jana knows that Ryder's nothing like Daisy and Sarah. Ryder came back to take his punishment - like a man. It's just not fair, Jana drones on in her monotone. She's glad he likes the book - but would like to do more.
Jack, Sharon, Nick, Phyllis and Victor have gathered at the club - and will soon be off get their hands dirty. Mike's objection is duly noted - and ignored. Aside, Mike gives Victor an envelope - an insurance policy (in case something goes awry). Ok - let's go. Don't get caught, Mike hisses (as the men leave). Warning that this could blow up in their faces, Phyllis and Sharon are left to conclude there's clues in them there corn fields.
No - Jana didn't get Kevin's message - she's at CL's to plead Ryder's case. He needs to be released. Already irritated that Jana paid Ryder another visit, Kevin does NOT think he deserves to be free (after what he did to all of them).
Mike comes home to find mirrors shattered or covered - then hears how Lauren's reflection reminds her of Sarah (and the house or mirrors). Refusing to go to the hospital (for the cut on her hand), Lauren worries about Fen - and Yes - she's ready to 'talk to someone'. Mike would call Emily (who was so helpful to Kevin and Jana). License schmicense - she's the only one who can relate to what Lauren's going through.
Phyllis and Sharon park near the Highway 53 sign - and armed with flashlights, find a pay phone (that's no longer working). What was Adam doing in such a desolate spot - who was he meeting? Well - there's only one thing to do - split up and search the corn field.
In the dark cemetery, Jack, Nick and Victor easily find Adam's unimpressive headstone. The ground's soft - shouldn't be too difficult. All three commence digging - as seen through the binoculars someone's watching them through.
Having beamed herself over to the Baldwin condo, Emily reassures Lauren (who's been through a terrifying experience). Emily feels violated - her calm composure's an act. We were locked up - had out identities stolen. It's so surreal - a nightmare. Emily totally relates - she has freak out moments too. Emily's not sure how to pick up the pieces - but they must fight to get their lives back. If not? Those who terrorized us win.
In his bunk, Ryder tosses the book - while Jana reminds Kevin of their past crimes. Ryder was traumatized too. You checked on him after his arraignment, Jana reminds - and didn't he show HER compassion? Her point? Ryder deserves compassion too. Kevin can't believe she's this adamant about this. Isn't it a good sign that she's feeling gratitude towards Ryder? Why is he fighting her - instead of encouraging her?
Flashlight in hand, Sharon's whispering for Phyllis (who screeches as she runs over). She's fine - just ran into a scarecrow. Sharon shows off the mask she found - the same one Adam and Hightower wore. Adam was on the run that night. This HAS to be his - Adam's a murderer!
Now with the wooden crate pulled out, Victor introduces the family dentist (who dons some gloves as Jack uses a drill to open the coffin).
Mike continues to sit in as Lauren talks of the decades of torture she endured by Sheila - and now, she sees Sarah every time she looks in the mirror. Emily's suffered a similar fate - but can empathize with Patty (trapped and scared). Emily reminds herself that Patty could only pretend to be her. Mike agrees - Sarah could never take away who Lauren is. Mike's arms wrapped around her, Lauren feels she's 'disappearing.
Back at CL's, Kevin denies he's blowing Jana off - but compared to where Jana was held, Ryder's in a 4 star hotel - he deserves to be in jail. Kevin has a coffee supplier to meet - yeah now - and talking later probably won't do any good either.
As the dentists goes to work, Nick calls Phyllis (who explains she and Sharon are doing some 'detective work' - in a corn field). Guess what we found? A mask. Dammit, Nick grimaces when they lose reception.
Creeping through the tall rows of corn, Phyllis takes credit for her snooping skills. Ironic that they're now on the same team. Of course Phyllis doesn't think Sharon's scheming to get Nick back (but doesn't look nearly as excited as Sharon babbles about Faith recognizing - and holding her arms out to Nick). But no - Phyllis doesn't regret telling Nick that Faith is his - she trusts her husband - and that he loves her (AND has had enough 'true confession' for one night).
As Nick tells Victor that Phyllis and Sharon found the mask, the dentist reports he's got the dental impressions. Yes - he'll do the comparison tonight. And now it's time to rebury the casket.
Jana thanks the man who's drawn up some papers for her - a collateral loan (borrowing against CL's). Where do I sign?
Yes - Lauren trusts her husband - Mike knew something was off all along (first sleeping in the guest room - then moving Fen to Gloria's). Both smile at the memory of her reuniting with Fen - THAT'S what Lauren should hang onto. You WILL get through this. With a hug, Emily offers assistance anytime - day or night. Now alone, Lauren DOES feel better - she misses the cheerful Lauren too. Would she like to come up to Glo's to pick up Fen? Taking a deep breath, Lauren exits the apartment.
The lawyer comes back - having forgotten to give 'duplicate papers' to Kevin's wife. Jana took out a loan? That the .... Kevin scowls at the documents in his hand.
Ryder's lead out into the station. Bailed out? Yeah right - by who? His fairy Godmother? No - I bailed you out, Jana announces.
Arriving with an officer, Pomernace chides the Newman's for taking the law into their own hands - again. You're all under arrest. Well - if it isn't our capable DA, Mr Pomerance. Victor has a letter of authorization from the Hightower family - THEY'RE interested in what happened to him (and provided dental records too). If this is Hightower's body, the DA's gonna look like a damn fool (which he's starting to already).
We? Sharon takes full credit for finding the mask. This is proof that Adam was here - but why? Maybe he hid a car? Time to go. BOth duck and cover their ears as a small plane swoops down. Taking cover, Phyllis hears Sharon scream. Kneeling down and covered in white powder (feared to be poison), Sharon coughs and gasps for air.
Next: What Heather Stevens needs to get - is a life, Chloe tells Chance ... At the club, Ryder squirms in the background as Kevin scolds - the Jana he knew would never do this. Well, maybe she's NOT the Jana he knew ... You're arresting us? Jack balks. You need a court order to exhume a body, Pomernace announces.
My Thoughts: What if Fen had been with me, Lauren says with a straight face. Please - for all her whining about missing him, he`s sure spending a lot of time at Gloria`s ..... Way to go Lauren - 7 years of bad luck for every mirror you`ve broken (and shouldn`t someone sweep up the mess before fen comes running in) ... Jana would like to *do more* for Ryder - yeah, I bet you would ... Bet Ryder feels a little silly for scolding the underage Abby for drinking (now that she`s suddenly of age`... Actually, Emily`s not the only person who can relate to having her identity and life taken over. Why doesn't Lauren turn to her good pal Katherine (who`s been impersonated twice) .... Wouldn`t Kevin need to cosign the papers putting CL`s up as collateral for Ryder`s bail ... And am I the only one who remembers that Mac was an equal partner with Kevin (and that Grandma Kay put out the cash for them to buy CL`s from Nick and Sharon) .... Yeah - sure IS 'easy for Jack to say' (about not being embarrassed about going out in public). Is she totally unaware of Jack's numerous scandals? That he was an impeached - then disgraced ex Senator? It's not like Emily losing her medical license would be any more scandalous than the other hot topics this week - like Billy and Vikki's wedding .... How could it be so hard to figure out who's writing prescriptions on Dr Peterson's pads? Have she and Jack forgotten brother Jamie's brief visit? And that's one of the reasons Emily chose to cut off all ties with her brother? Shouldn't someone give Paul a call? .... Jack's gonna distract Emily with his impressions of 'The Mustache'? Why would a psychiatrist - who barely knows Victor, find that entertaining? .... If dental impressions can prove that the body's Hightower, why wasn't that method used to ID Adam's body? .. If the Hightower family is so interested that they`ve signed notarized authorization for the exhumation of a body believed to be his (to complete strangers) - shouldn`t one of the family be present - t perhaps ID the body without having to wait for the dental match ... Of course Victor`s family dentist would drop everything to come out to a cemetery - but what else is he qualified for ... Hightower`s not gonna need a filling or root canal .... If he`s that great a dentist, why didn`t he insist on fixing Vikki`s teeth ... Good grief - off to search a corn field and Phyllis and Sharon are both in stilettos - neither have a good pair of hiking boots? Or some running shoes (or sneakers as you Yanks call em) ... How can it be such a 'desolate area'? There's a pay phone - and a line up of about 7 mail boxes ..... Why did Adam's headstone read Adam Newman - wasn't he disowned? Shouldn't it read 'Wilson'? ... With GC's millionaires and top executives rolling up their expensive shirtsleeves to dig up bodies - and the socialites searching corn fields in 'desolate' areas' - what exactly is the crackerjack investigative team Victor hired doing?
