The mausoleum regulars are joined by Traci, Dr Nate and Olivia. Lily? She's still saying good bye - and in her own world, poor thing. Arriving with her family, Lily declines Ester's soup - and agrees with Sophia that Cane's service was lovely. Flashing back to the service, Cane's casket is carried in - when he appears, all in white, to keep Lily company. Saying 'good bye' is never easy, the Minister tells those attending (including Tucker and Ashley).
Still at the church, Billy and Philip watch Collin approach Jill. Odd, that he's so affected. I can't say good bye, Jill weeps at Cane's casket.
Given a vase of roses by Chloe, Lily comments that Cane thought it was such a shame to cut/kill them. Neil consoling her, Lily knows she must think of the twins - but can't stop thinking about Cane (and doesn't WANT it to 'get better'). As all file off to the dining room (for Ester's marvelous buffet), Kay pauses a moment to relate to Lily - then leaves her to flashback to the service (the Minister now praising Cane for giving his life - to save the lives of his wife and children). Lily smiles at Cane beside her - but, in realtime, manages to shatter the vase of roses. As all rush in, Lily stammers apologies. Of course Neil will take her home.
Rooted before Cane's casket, Jill refuses to leave. And as Collin exits, Billy takes a turn comforting Jill (who can't leave Cane all alone - but then is gently coerced to leave).
Ashley and Tucker now at the mausoleum, the rest of the guests gone - are encouraged to eat. Sending Murphy off too, Kay thinks it a good day to get 'it' off her chest (to Tucker).
The Winter's family now back at Lily's, Traci's sent the sitter home. Lily confirms that the twins are in 'our' ... 'my' room sleeping (and so leaves the family to rest). A few moments after sitting on the bed, Cane appears again. I knew you'd come, Lily smiles serenely.
Tucker and Ashley joined at the hip on the sofa, Kay scolds Tucker - Cane didn't 'steal' from him - he was protecting his family. Yeah, well, Cane should have come to Tucker for help. Alas, he was just the boss, not considered family. If only Cane gave him a chance (instead of shutting him out). Tucker 'done here', Ashley mumbles apologies as she tags along.
When Devon reports that Lily's sitting on the bed, nodding and smiling, Traci observed her doing the same thing during the service. Malcolm wants to go see her - but is deterred by the rest. Meanwhile, in the bedroom, Lily and Cane discuss the nice service - all the wonderful things said. Flashback to Billy's eulogy (in which he expresses jealousy - comparing himself unfavorably to the wonderful Cane (who's now sharing hopes with Lily - that Billy will become closer with his brother Philip - who needs him now). Flashback to Philip's eulogy (in which he explained his and Cane's charade - this sure isn't the way it shoulda ended). It's not the end, Lily and Cane share a smile.
Jill and Collin returning to the mausoleum, are told that the guests left when Lily did. Talk of the frozen ground inspires Collin to offer renting a back hoe. Kay bristles - we can manage (which, in turn, annoys Jill). Why is he so helpful? Kay questions Collin's motives (as he escapes to take care of some business). That man's taking advantage of you, Kay insists. No - he gave Jill what she needed today (a lot more than she can say for Kay).
Lily carrying Charlie over to Cane leads him to carry on that his Mommy will always love him - just as Jill loved him. Flashback to Jill's teary eulogy. That kind, sweet man loved me like a mother *sniffle*. Lily smiles at Cane - she couldn't love you more - and neither could I. Traci gently knocks on the bedroom door - are you talking to someone?
As Collin arrives to order at CL's, Kevin's chatting with Chloe and Daniel - all so sad for poor Lily. There's something going on with her, Kevin muses - she had the same face Jana did when she 'connected' with someone from 'the other side'. And as Daniel leaves to go check on Lily, Chloe asks Kevin to take her back to the church (she has things to clear up with Cane).
In Lily's bedroom, Traci utters her usual pearls of wisdom, knowing Lily can't forget Cane any more than she can forget Colleen. Remembering her mother, Lily's memories have faded and lack detail. It'll be a panoramic view, not a close up, Traci reasons - which is more beautiful.
Back at the church, Chloe talks to Cane's rose covered casket. She's sorry for tricking him (and taking time away from him and Lily)- but who wouldn't want him for a husband (and father to their baby)? Joining her, Collin's now aware that she and Cane shared a history. Is Lily strong enough to raise the twins alone? Well - she was muttering to herself at the funeral. But hey - it's enough to break anyone. Yeah - Collin supposes it could.
Rejoining the Winters', Traci relays that Lily's talking to Cane - a coping/defense mechanism. It'll help her 'let go' (though it troubles Neil and Malcolm - and Devon when he arrives). Meanwhile, Lily's still chatting with Cane (who promises to be there when she needs him). How lucky she was to find him. Flashback to Kay's eulogy - it wasn't luck that brought Cane into their lives - it was fate; destiny. They were meant to know and love him. Meanwhile, Lily's about to kiss Cane when Daniel knocks. I thought I heard .... how you doin'? Looks like you could use a friend.
Thanked for coming back to the mausoleum, Tucker credits Ashley (who clings to his arm). Tucker has nothing else to say - but Kay does...
Invited to stay, Tucker has better things to do than listen to her lecture him (on what a despicable human being he is). Not no - Kay now realizes what Tucker was really 'robbed' of - and chance to be something other than a tough businessman (because Cane didn't reach out to him). She's not willing to squander Cane's sacrifice (and neither is Tucker).
Still at the church, Collin opens the casket to take a look at Cane. This. Is. Not. Over, he says with determination.
Daniel gives Lily a pep talk. He believes in her - and so does Cane. Lily OK being alone, Daniel gives her a friendly kiss and leaves her to chat some more with Cane (whom she knows isn't real). A sudden gust of wind blowing the patio door open, Lily shivers as she looks out at the falling snow.
Flashback to the funeral - a musical montage as all deliver their eulogies. All in turn hug Lily - who then hugs the casket sobbing. Realtime, she closes the door.
Next: Nick tells Diane - hooking up with you was a mistake. One I won't make again.... At the mausoleum, Nina arrives with Chance (causing Ester to faint into Philip's arms ... Nikki goes to the ranch to inform Victor that Meggie's back. Is that supposed to intimidate me? Victor scowls. |
