At CL's, Nick regrets dropping the bomb on his Mom over the phone - who knows where she is now. Walking in, a frustrated Lauren's leaving a message for Mike (then is updated, by Phyllis, that he's on the Newman jet - witnessing Victor and Diane's wedding).
Flying aboard the jet, Diane suggests a celebratory dinner at G-worm. Victor thinks that a great idea. Kay and Kyle will be invited - and Mike's to bring Lauren. The pilot announcing their descent, Mike chuckles into his champagne - as if anything could prepare anyone.
Bags packed, Kyle already knows the 'big' news Jack has for him (and has big news of his own). 'Cool' with the marriage, Kyle's moving back to the ranch. Eyes darting to Kyle's pile of luggage, Jack's horrified - w...wh...what? You're moving tonight?
Ashley on a business trip to New York, Tucker's at the mausoleum to discuss the wedding with Kay. Murphy bursts in with great news; Meggie was caught escaping (and will be sent to a more secure prison to await her trial). Ending her 'intriguing call', Kay relays that Victor's invited them to a celebration dinner. Maybe the Newman family is making amends. 'And maybe hell's frozen over', Tucker's expression reads.
In their jammies, Billy and Vikki snuggle on the sofa. The worst is behind us. Victor won't intrude on their lives, the Abbott's clink wine glasses.
At G-worm's bar, Nikki watches the vodka being poured into her iced tea. You sure you wanna take that drink? she envisions Deacon asking. Alas, this bartender's just doing his job. Noticing the bartender replacing the vodka bottle, a concerned Glo leans in - lemme know if I can do anything for ya. I MEAN that Nikki, she strolls off (but continues to watch - as Nikki stirs her drink).
Jack wishes Kyle would reconsider. But Kyle misses his Mom - wants to live with her and his new stedDad. Is this about something else? Jack wonders. Looking at Phyllis (who's just arrived), Kyle says 'no'. Updating her, Jack reads Diane's text message aloud (she and Victor would like Kyle to join them at G-worm). Awesome! Kyle runs to put his stuff in the car (leaving Jack so depressed he doesn't acknowledge Phyllis' apologies).
At the mausoleum, Nick updates Tucker and Murphy (who explains the dinner party invite - and what Kay thought it meant for the Newman's). Yes - Murphy will let Nick know if Nikki shows up there (then is left to shake his head with Tucker - poor Nikki).
Without taking a sip of her drink, Nikki suddenly jumps up to leave. Watching her, Gloria mutters - oh my God (when the bride and groom arrive with Mike). As Gloria leads Mike and Diane to their table, a trembling Nikki locks eyes with Victor. And when he ends the stare-down to go join his bride, Nikki sprints out the door.
The Abbott's snuggling is rudely interrupted by Nick (who's worried about Mom). You don't know? About Dad and Diane?
At the mausoleum, Murphy tells Nikki that Kay's out (but wouldn't have accepted Victor's dinner invitation had she known what was being celebrated). Updating her on Meggie, Murphy wonders why she tried to escape. There's a lot more to it, Nikki swipes tears. I'm fine, she insists. I'll talk to you later, Nikki tosses over her shoulder (ignoring Murphy's gently protests as she runs out the front door).
Having called to summon the press, Gloria welcomes Kay - she must be here for the Newman wedding dinner. Victor's so happy she came (though disappointed to hear Murphy's at a Lodge meeting). As Kay stammers that it's a 'surprise', Lauren arrives. Taking her coat, Gloria goes for champagne. Not wanting to keep his bride waiting, Victor leads Kay off (leaving Lauren to scold Mike for telling Phyllis, not HER where he was). Not ready to forgive Mike, Lauren marches over to congratulate Diane (where he promptly takes his seat beside her). Victor asks all to raise their glasses - to toast his beautiful wife Diane.
Dropping Kyle off (who races to his Mom's side), Jack tells Phyllis that he can't just drop the kid's stuff off - he needs to speak to Diane (who then comes to invite them over). No thanks - Phyllis would rather shoot herself. It's my wedding day - if only for Kyle's sake, Diane would like them to play nice. Oh but Kyle IS a 'priority' - Diane had Victor set up a trust fund for him. *I* will take care of MY son, Jack's insulted.
Gloria taking Kyle off to the kitchen, Jack doesn't want his son exposed to Victor (the brutal 'clown') on a daily basis. Diane assures nothing bad will happen to Kyle (who WANTS to move back to the ranch). Besides, SHE has custody. Victor comes over to protect his 'wife' from 'harassment'. Kyle IS his business - get used to it, the Newman's return to the table. After Kyle gives Jack a good bye hug, Kay comes over to blame Jack (who encouraged the lawsuit that tore the Newman family apart). Yeah - well - Jack wasn't the only one pulling strings (Kay can go to her son, Tucker, for answers).
As Nick and Vikki wonder where Nikki is, she arrives for some supportive hugs. Yes, she's shocked about Victor and Diane - but there's more. Nikki weepily admits she made a mistake - they were all right about Deacon.
After instructing the photographer, Gloria leads Kyle to the dance floor (where 'one too many' Mike's working his magic on Lauren). The newlyweds ready to leave, pleasantries and congratulations are exchanged all around. Glo quickly darts between the Newman's for a photo op. (Kyle merrily tossing glitter in the air as instructed).
Deacon's not the man I thought he was, Nikki accepts a glass of water Billy plods in with. Her self deprecation results in support from Vikki, and an anti-Victor rant from Nick (which gets Billy's interest when he lets it slip that Vikki had a deal with Tucker, for BofN). And as Nick marches out to confront Victor, Nikki leaving soon after, Billy wastes little time confronting his wife - what's this about giving Tucker BofN???
Arriving at Tucker's place, Kay flashes back to their breakfast together - there's hope for us yet. Welcomed into Tucker's, Kay immediately demands to know exactly what part HE played in all this.
Tucker doesn't see how he's responsible for Victor being estranged from his kids. Asked about his 'interest in the lawsuit', Tucker wonders what Kay heard. OK - so he made some agreements that would benefit McCall. Kay's pissed - You cheered on the Newman's destruction - taking what Victor built (just like he took CI from HER). Defending himself, Tucker feels she'd do the same thing - it's smart business. Kay disagrees - taking advantage isn't smart business. Tucker should be ashamed of himself.
Now home, a dejected Jack sets Kyle's hockey equipment down with a thud. Phyllis is supportive (and feeling at fault) - poor Jack. Jack, however, is more worried about Kyle than he is himself.
SO cool! Happy to be at the ranch again, Kyle goes to check out his new room. And as Victor goes to tell 'Bobby' not to disturb then in the morning, Nick arrives - sorry to interrupt 'step Mommy's' wedding night (which she failed to mention earlier). Victor back, Nick asks to speak to him - in private. Show yourself out, Victor snaps.
Bottle in a brown paper bag, Nikki's back at the suite - jamming Deacon's clothes into his bag and tossing it into the hallway. And now - grabbing a glass, she sits to tremble in front of the bottle. Knock, knock - it's me, Deacon's on the other side of the door.
Slipping the photographer some cash, Gloria wants copies (and expects to see them on the society page). The Baldwin's are the only ones on the dance floor (his tie hanging loosely around his neck, Mike's sweet words are rewarded with a kiss).
Phyllis doesn't agree this is the worst thing Diane's done (burning down the poolhouse and stealing sperm top it). Jack rants about Victor - stealing his son. Let's see how smug he is when Jack takes BofN from HIM.
Vikki couldn't tell Billy - he'd be really pissed. Well, yeah - he is - I couldn't be trusted? I'd go to Jack? You're an Abbott - this is Jabot, Vikki reminds (while Billy reminds that SHE'S an Abbott now too). He's disappointed - she thought so little of him; of us.
Arms folded, Tucker thinks Kay's being irrational. Kay thought he was better than this - thought they were close enough (that people who matter to her, mattered to HIM). Tucker merely made business deals based on possibilities. But he shoulda known that it'd raise the stakes; pitting Jack against Vikki! Whatever it takes, Kay will shut Tucker down!!!!! Slamming the door, she gets a call from Murphy (who relays his concern for Nikki). I'll call her right away, Kay says.
Victor wants Nick to get the hell out - so he can enjoy his wedding night. The Newman's walking off, Nick bleats - don't do this Dad.
Take your stuff and go, before Nikki calls security on Deacon (who obeys). In the suite, Nikki's got the bottle in one hand, her ringing cell in the other. Oh Katherine! Nikki puts the phone down to open the bottle - and with a shaky hand, pour - then drink.
Next: Mom made you very special birthday waffles, Chloe says as she barges into Chance's room with a tray - shutting up when she sees that Chance and Heather are naked and in bed ... Paul at her side, Sharon shrieks - I'll get my daughter back - there'll be nothing you can do about it Nick! ..... DA Walsh tells Murphy, Philip, Heather and Chance - the jury's finally been empanelled - the trial starts today.
My Thoughts: While you never want to see an alcoholic fall off the wagon, I look forward to seeing some incredible acting from MTS .... Did Nikki really have to TELL Deacon that his stuff's in the hallway? He didn't already recognize the stuff he had to walk over to get to the suite's door? .... Nick really thought he'd get away with confronting Victor in his own home? (I DO love the way he called Diane 'step Mommy') - don't think she wants to hear that, any more than Victor wants to hear Nick call him 'Dad' ...When will Kyle start calling his new stepfather something other than 'Mr Newman'? ... If Victor wants to stop all these unwanted visits, why doesn't he have a guard posted at the door? ... Tucker sure has a way with words; IF Victor's estranged from his kids? IF? He has doubt? ... Duh Murphy - why does ANY inmate try to escape? Freedom from those unflattering jumpsuits ... Gee Gloria - I wonder - what COULD the pastry chefs 'be up to'? Ummm - I dunno - making pastries? ... Having already made it clear to Ashley that she'd be the one planning the wedding, why does Tucker need to 'pinch hit' with Kay? If they haven't even set a date, why can't it wait until Ashley's back from New York? ... Diane told Mike that he wasn't invited along for the honeymoon (implying the reason they were going back to GC was to drop him off) - yet, for reasons, unknown, it doesn't appear that the Newman's are even going on a honeymoon? ... G-worm's bartender sure managed to spill a lot of excess vodka while pouring Nikki's drink. Glad she took my advice (buying a bottle to drink in the privacy of her own home - I mean suite) ... Diane 'made sure' Victor took good care of Kyle (via the trust fund)? She makes it sound like it was hard negotiating on her part - yet the trust fund was already in the pre nup before she even mentioned it ... How does Gloria expect the photographer to 'be discreet'? His camera's not exactly smaller than a breadbox ... Kyle's one weird kid. Don't know many 11 year olds who'd look so excited about dancing with an old broad like Gloria - or any female for that matter. It's hardly his type of music - and he looks even more excited when tossing glitter at the newlyweds and Gloria. If Lauren's so concerned about Fen, why didn't she bring him to G-worm? He and Kyle coulda tossed glitter, done the Foxtrot and visited the kitchen together ... Note how Gloria poses with one leg lifted - like she's a flamingo or sumthin'. Lauren's a stunning woman, no doubt about it - but we get it - you have ample breasts. The short, cut-out dress and clunky high heels were a bit much. Also note how the other diners weren't even paying attention to the loud spectacle. How could they possibly ignore it? Oh look - a racially mixed couple. How advanced the Y&R is *snicker*. The big bald black guy is always there ... 'May you have a lifetime of happiness' Lauren manages to say without laughing (what she really means is - good luck capping out that pre nup) She shoulda said 'the wedding dresses Nikki was looking at a few months ago were much nicer') ... The Murphy's don't communicate? Kay wasn't aware that Murphy had a Lodge meeting that night? (which is more important than accompanying his wife to a dinner party?) If people that 'matter' to Kay, should 'matter' to Tucker - shouldn't they matter to Murphy too? And why is Kay barking into the phone at Victor anyway? ... 'Plenty of room for everyone' Gloria welcomes the wedding 'party' in - guess there IS room - since everyone consists of all of 6 people ... Has Phyllis completely forgotten she's a 'journalist'? Why hasn't the RS website broken the exclusive news that Victor Newman married Diane Jenkins? |
