Faith in his arms, Nick's at Sharon's place - deciding which dress to put on her to visit Mom (who needs her more now than ever). Ma ma ma, Faith bleats adorably on cue.
Meanwhile, the guard outside the bathroom door knocks impatiently. She's not out yet? the DA arrives to kick the door down. Gun drawn, the guard checks the stalls. Sharon Newman's escaped! the DA shouts through the open window. And as Adam ends his press statement, uniforms flood in, a siren goes off - we're on lock down - a prisoner escaped! A surprised look on his face, Adam's again on camera - no way it's his fiance.
After hours at RS, Phyllis smiles at Billy. Knowing Sharon's innocent, she just may have the video that proves it. Looks like her time in Thailand may have paid off. Keep on it, Billy sees walking dollar signs coming in to see their ad department. Having 'shared an elevator', Tucker and Vikki quietly discuss him buying NE stock - the best way to force Victor to sell BofN. Spying, Kay comes out only after Billy leads Tucker off to talk advertising. There to meet Vikki, Kay gives fair warning (but no apologies) that she's butting into Newman family business (hoping to settle the water). Vikki's furious to hear that Adam's trust fund was reinstated. Dad gave him a pay day!? I knew it!
Billy's delighted at the prospect of RS being viewed a hero (if Sharon's verdict's overturned) - AND they get the exclusive. What's with all the 'we's'? PHYLLIS was the one to risk her life in Thailand. It's all good if they can get Adam to shut up. Oh look - Adam's on the news now. What's going on!? Adam steps aside so a reporter can announce that Sharon's assaulted a guard and escaped. Watching at home, Victor calls Mike to update on Sharon's foolish move (and his intent to find her).
Sharon drives through the night, nervously checking her rearview mirror. Above the visor, she finds an envelope containing cash - a Kansas driver's license and passport. You're good, she murmurs - thought of everything (including brunette hair dye to match the ID).
Nick's unibrow adopts full furrow - when finding Sharon's closet empty; a hanger carelessly left on the floor. Hmmmmm.
Billy orders 'Gary' to find out what happened at the court house and report back asap. Sharon's got some guts. Phyllis agrees - crazy - but haven't the kids been through enough? Phyllis is sure she can find Sharon. IF it was premeditated, she had help. Now, to find 'team Sharon' and be back tonight with the exclusive.
Joined by Vance in the courtroom, a stunned-as-can-be Adam just can't believe they've lost Sharon. Confirming that felony assault and escape will add to Sharon's sentence, Vance eyes Adam suspiciously. If you had anything to do with it .... Walsh barges in to finish the accusation. His girlfriend sure didn't get chloroform from the vending machine! Adam will be held for questioning - and get on TV and convince her to turn herself in (since he wants her back as badly as they do). Victor arrives to discount Adam - but if HE appeals to Sharon, she may come back.
Sharon enters a roadside restroom. Locking the door, and pausing to look horrified by the state of the toilet, she gets busy dying her hair (to match the license she's propped in the mirror).
Vikki's outraged - Abby had to sue for HER trust; she and Nick had to fight for theirs. Adam, the baby stealing liar who framed Victor gets HIS with a pretty bow on it? Dad giving Adam a piece of Newman is rubbing salt on the wounds. We're all equal to Adam in Dad's eyes? Now we have to deal with HIM when going public, Vikki complains. Adam sold the stock? To YOU, Vikki hopes. Kay wishes she had the chance - but not - Adam sold it to Tucker.
As Nick snoops around Sharon's place, Phyllis shows up looking for her. No, she didn't try her jail cell - because Sharon escaped.
Back in the courtroom, Adam scoffs at Victor going on TV, playing the benevolent patriarch - after all he's done. Victor's sure Sharon will come back when he asks her to. Adam scoffs, rejecting the idea. Walsh insists Adam appeal on TV - be as convincing as hell. Aside, Victor points out that Adam's behind all this. Once he stops play acting, he'll be on Sharon's heels. Victor will share likely hiding spots - but in exchange, Sharon won't be unduly punished. Agreeing, the DA summons a detective to take down Victor's information.
In the hallway, Adam takes center stage before the cameras - begging Sharon to come back. Meanwhile, Sharon emerges from the bathroom stall (in which she's transformed herself into a brunette tramp circa 1988). Into the trash goes the dye box and her old clothes - and out steps the new Sharon.
Vikki theorizes - it makes sense. Tucker's always gunning for NE. He could still throw in with her and Nick. Kay's not so sure - after all, Tucker didn't confide ANY of this to Vikki. Is there more to the deal? Vikki wonders if Tucker would offer to hire Adam as incentive. Kay would never allow that. OMG - what if Tucker puts Adam in charge of BofN! Kay advises Vikki to keep her eyes open (while she'll do what she can to ensure Tucker doesn't take advantage). Sometimes children aren't the people we'd like them to be.
Who are you? What are you doing here? at home, Doris threatens to call the police. It's me, Sharon steps forward to announce. What are you thinking - escaping? Dressed like a tramp. Use your head - have some sense - Adam's begging you to come back. Yes - on TV (doing the right thing for once). Be smart - don't make things worse. We'll say you ran away to see me. Surely they'll listen to a broken hearted mother in a wheelchair. Sit - stay - let me make the call, Doris implores.
As Nick summons the sitter over to Sharon's place, Phyllis comes down to report someone packed Sharon's stuff in a hurry. Furious, Nick kicks the ottoman (though it's Adam he blames). He DOES know how to rig a disappearance, Phyllis agrees. What are you two doing in MY home? Adam arrives on cue.
YOUR home? Nick (and Phyllis) launch into accusations. Does Adam have a tab with Disappearances R Us? Adam thinks them idiots if they believe he wants Sharon on the run - chased by cops. He didn't pack her bags - perhaps she came home while he was on TV pleading for her to come home. If WE bring her back tonight, the DA might not press charges.
Having no time to argue (and knowing the police will show up there soon enough), Sharon's just there to ask that Doris look in on Faith while she's gone. She's doing this so she can RAISE her daughter. But what if you never find proof? Never get parole? That poor sweet baby and Noah have suffered enough for Sharon's mistakes. Oh, Doris knows Sharon's not guilty of murder - but she IS guilty of making bad choices because of 'that man'. Sharon repeats - be there for Faith. Why can't YOU be there for her? Doris implores. That's what Sharon's TRYING to do - be proactive - save herself (for once). This is a brave and wonderful thing? Doris shakes her head - that poor baby girl - she needs a mother. Doris doesn't know Sharon anymore - never dreamt THIS is the person she'd become.
Back at RS, Billy updates Vikki on Sharon's escape. She doesn't understand why people do such stupid things - but right now, really needs to talk to Tucker. Can it wait until he writes Billy a big check? Better hurry, Vikki appears ready to explode.
Vikki accosts Tucker - so, you bought Adam's shares of NE. Wow - news travels fast. Why would he deny something that'll help them get BofN? Vikki wants to hear 'the rest' (Tucker's offer to let Adam run BofN). That never happened, Tucker assures - and who's spreading that nasty lie?
Kay visits her dear old friend - to report that her meeting with Vikki went as planned (her jumping to the conclusion that Tucker and Adam have teamed up) It's just a matter of time before their alliance falls to pieces, Kay and Victor share a victory hug.
Ordinarily, Victor would have welcomed the idea of Kay's son and his daughter working together. Yet - it sickens Kay (what Tucker's trying to do to the family). No one has any idea THEY'RE manipulating the situation, Victor and Kay crow (laughing that Tucker's getting a 'spanking' and Kay's 'back in the game').
Sharon's already wasted too much time with Doris (who's once again asked to watch over Faith). She's not asking for her mother's approval - she's trying to prove her innocence). Support me for once in my life! Doris can't support these wrong decisions. Sharon scolds her Maw for not being there in court - so that for once in her life, she could feel she was on her side. Now on her knees, Sharon's begging her mother to believe in her. Doris wheels her chair away - the police are probably already on their way. And without further word, Sharon scurries out.
Back at Sharon's, Adam wonders why Phyllis is still there. Nervous? Somewhere you need to be? Phyllis retorts. Keep it down, Nick scolds - the nanny's up with Faith. Adam suggests Victor's behind Sharon's escape. Phyllis suggests they work with Adam. OK, Nick sighs - let's work fast. Adam's off to the airport - Phyllis and Nick will take the bus and train station. Don't freak her out, Adam orders - just bring her back safe. As Adam marches out, Phyllis and Nick reject the bus and train station idea - tailing Adam will lead them to Sharon. Let's go.
Doesn't matter WHERE Vikki heard about Tucker and Adam (only that she didn't hear it from HIM). Tucker made Adam no promises, certainly not re: BofN. Like the deal he didn't have with Jack? Listen - Tucker bought Adam out so that he, Vikki and Nick could get BofN. He wouldn't trust Adam. Their agreement still stands (IF Vikki wants it to). But, if she wants back in later, it'll be on HIS terms. After Tucker leaves, Vikki rants that he's a snake - she can't align with a partner she doesn't trust. Start a new company, Billy suggests. BofN is Vikki's heart - but maybe it IS time to let go of that dream. Thank God Kay came to her with that info.
Still with Victor, Kay reports pushing Vikki's buttons with mention of Adam. Together we'll divide and conquer - pitting one against the other, Victor's sure they'll take each other out. Kay will do whatever she can to help. Victor then reports that Sharon escaped. Not sure what will happen, Victor declares it 'serious stuff'.
Baseball hat pulled down low, Adam's at the airport's ticket counter - one way ticket to St Martaan - no bags to check. The man watching (the detective Victor spoke to in court) calls to reports in - do I follow? OK - tell the guys on the island to watch for a brown jacket etc. Arriving with Phyllis, Nick learns that his brother is off to St Martin. Two tickets - but they'll sit back in coach.
Driving, Sharon flashes back to the trial. Oh God - please, please - she's relived when the car behind passes. Agonizing, crying, Sharon drives through the rain. Faith needs her mother (Doris' harsh words echo).
Next: Miss Fisher wants to press charges, the woman beside Jana informs in the interrogation room. You've gotta be kidding, Chloe scoffs (Gloria seated beside her) ... Devon with him in Malcolm's suite, Neil assures his nervous brother - everything's gonna be alright. Easy for you to say - you're no marrying the woman you love, Malcolm points out. No - I'm not, Neil agrees ... Dad could actually walk you down, Lily suggests to Sophia (in her robe). Not your Dad - that would be too awkward, Sophia objects.
My Thoughts: Hmmm - is the detective posted at the airport reporting in to the DA - or to Victor? ... Could Faith be any more adorable? Her timing (in the show's opening scene) was perfect ... Why would Sharon expect Doris to watch over Faith - when she hasn't been around to do so in eons? .. Sharon DOES make a lot of stupid decisions. Wouldn't it be smarter for her to attract as little attention as possible? Shouldn't she be disguising herself as a mousy librarian - instead of a bar tramp (who's raided Lauren Fenmore's closet)? Thanks Adam - but wouldn't a wig have been quicker/easier? Maybe some glasses instead of huge earrings? At least the fair Sharon wouldn't have been subjected to the horror of public restrooms .... What's with Doris? She's totally been rewritten - from sensible voice of reason to cold and uncaring harpy.... How did the DA and guard fail to immediately notice that the bars had been removed from the bathroom window? Shouldn't medical attention for the guard be top priority? .. Why on earth would Adam pack up all of Sharon's coats from the front closet - if they're off to a tropical island? ... Nick sure didn't like Adam referring to Sharon's place as HIS home (and who could blame him?) ... If the DA was 'holding' Adam for questioning, why was he back home so quickly. Guess the lock down didn't last very long ... How exactly did Phyllis 'risk her life' in Thailand? If she was in any danger, it's because she was dressed to attract danger (and deliberately going to dangerous places). Kinda stupid considering she has a young daughter to raise too (yet she's constantly clucking about Sharon's poor kids being without a Mom) ... Looks like Sharon doesn't have much experience dying her own hair - as she's using the majority of it on one section ... Good thing the airport's ticket agent hasn't read any of the press (which would inform her that Nick Newman doesn't get along with his brother Adam) ... Kay thinks Vikki looks 'nice'? Really? Maybe she IS getting old ...How does Kay think she's 'settling the waters' in the Newman family? What will her other dear old friend, Nikki, think of Kay manipulating her daughter? And why would Tucker put Adam in charge of BoN - he has absolutely no experience in the cosmetics field - plus, let's not forget he was the one to break into Tucker's office and desk to access Jabot's 'sealed bids' ... Funny to hear Vikki call Adam a 'baby stealing' liar (since she's married to one). too. Yes, Billy paid 2 million - but he knows he acquired Lucy illegally.
