At G-worm, Mike exchanges a few words with Jeff, then joins the 'big goon's' table. Well, if it isn't my partner in crime, Angelo hands a grumpy Mike the newspaper (Lady Love Lobbies for Suspected Kidnapper). Seems Chloe's making an appeal for Kevin (who Mike assures IS innocent). No - Angelo hasn't heard 'a peep' from 'his people'.
Jana also has a newspaper in hand - as she talks to Kevin (in the closet and not too happy about it). It's stuffy and he can't breath. I gotta get outta here! Sorry but Jana can't let him out (her eyes widening as she spots Chloe's interview).
At the mausoleum, Chloe grumbles (as Kay reads) - they didn't even mention Kevin's signal (on the surveillance tape). Because of Kevin's history, they think he's a fugitive. What to do? Kay has an idea - sit tight. Heather then calls Chloe - odd she hasn't heard from Billy (as the suit was filed yesterday). No rush, Chloe knows Billy's gonna 'lose it'.
The Abbott's are gushing over Lucy when Phyllis and Daniel arrive - Mike's on his way, Rafe too. Hopefully today's meeting's more productive - nobody wants the authorities involved. But if Phyllis wants what's best for Lucy, why is she trying to take her? Vikki wonders.
Glo joins Chloe at the mausoleum - amongst the horrifying thoughts that kept her up all night? That Jana will force Kevin to give her a baby (a la Daisy/Daniel). Kay's back - with a box of 'find Katherine' T-shirts Kevin made when SHE was missing. Let the 'grass roots' campaign begin - T-shirts, flyers, a website. Glo rewards Kay with an appreciative hug.
Kevin continues to make a pest of himself - he's hungry and lacking air. Putting Chloe's article in a drawer, Jana (gun in hand) releases Kevin (who obediently handcuffs himself to the chair and eats the apple Jana all but stuffs in his mouth).
Mike and Rafe joining the meeting, all take a seat. Neither side giving in, the attorney's warn that if no resolution's reached, the Abbott's could face charges - and Lucy will end up in 'the system'. Phyllis implores - we're her family. DNA doesn't make a family, Vikki argues - THEY love Lucy (and lists all they've done that prove it). WE'RE her family. If anyone compromises, it should be PHYLLIS.
At the bar, Angelo (Gloria's number one fan) thinks it too bad about Kevin - who WAS a good kid. Whaddaya mean WAS? But of course he doesn't think Angelo responsible. And not to worry - Jeff's taking good care of the books. Angelo laughs - hand em over - pronto.
At CL's, Chloe and Gloria pester the customers with flyers. A kid foolish enough to throw his out is lambasted by Gloria. Chloe scolds her - we'll make them care another way.
Kevin eats his snacks like a good boy (as Jana reminisces about the fun they had together). Smiling, Kevin joins in with the reminiscing. It's always been YOU, Jana's weepy and serious. Kevin wants to be close again - have fun. Jana wants to believe him. But he's been brainwashed and needs to be deprogrammed (in the closet). Just hear me out! Kevin's desperate.
No, Phyllis didn't get to do all Vikki did - because she wasn't given the opportunity. We're her parents, Billy maintains - though Phyllis CAN be part of Lucy's life. We pass her around like a football? Phyllis balks - it's OK to take Lucy away from her BIRTH family. How will the Abbott's explain (to Lucy) that they took her away from Phyllis and Daniel? And just how will they be fit into the Abbott's lovely little scenario? Daniel doesn't WANT to fit it. Phyllis then reminds that Lucy was bought her ILLEGALLY. Taking her away will be traumatic, Vikki continues. Daniel agrees - Lucy deserves two parents who love her. In tears, Phyllis nods. This isn't about what we want - Billy would give Lucy up if it were best for her. They're willing to give you access, Mike gently points out. Don't fight this, Daniel adds. OK - if Phyllis agrees, she must be assured certain things.
Also negotiating, Jana knows Kevin will leave (not love) her if she sets him free. We can be good together again - without the torture - Kevin's never gotten over Jana. He remembers everything - their first date etc etc.
Angelo doesn't trust Jeff (nor like that he blames Gloria for 'skimming off the top' last time). Jeff paid him back - and lost a tooth! Yes, Angelo heard right - Jeff's NOT handing over the books.
Back at CL's, Kevin and Gloria continue to make pests of themselves - as Kay arrives talking into her phone. No one cares, Chloe and Glo whine. Heather arrives to inform Chloe that the custody paperwork was pulled - by the police.
Phyllis' demands? She wants Lucy growing up knowing that Daniel's her biological father - full access - one weekend per month - and to be part of all major milestones/decisions. If the Abbott's agree, Phyllis will sign a contract not to fight for custody. Aside, the Abbott's confer with Rafe. It's too intrusive - who'll have the final say? Billy doesn't like the alternative (risk losing Lucy). And just as he announces 'we have a deal', Child Protective Services arrives (to discuss the adoption of Lucy).
Hands clasped, Kevin and Jana continue to walk down memory lane. Smiles - laughter - God, those were the best days of their lives. OMG! Jana realizes Kevin's tricking her. Take the handcuffs off and get IN THE CLOSET - NOW! I wasn't tricking you! Kevin shouts his way into the closet. Covering her ears and 'la la la'ing is replaced by a loud train and music from a convenient boombox.
Back at CL's, Kay's got everyone's attention - to explain that Kevin risked his life to save her. Hasn't he given free coffees? A smile? Jobs? Kevin's loyalty to his ex wife is what got him in trouble. Now take these shirts - wear em - spread the news. He'd do the same for you, Kay concludes.
CPS's asking for Lucy's adoption papers, Rafe steps up as the Abbott's attorney (and learns that a custody suit was filed re: Delia). The papers (flagged and sent to her office) claim Billy's an unfit father (for hiring Jana against Chloe's wishes - and illegally adopting Lucy). As Billy goes for the adoption papers, Vikki whispers to a crying Lucy - everything's gonna be OK.
According to the news on Jana's radio, she and Kevin (suspected kidnappers) were last seen boarding a train to Florida). Chloe's voice clip tips Jana of to Kevin's 'rock, paper, scissors' signal. An utterly devastated Jana fondles the gun against her chest.
Strong arming Jeff from behind the bar, Angelo demands HIS books - or the next appendage he loses won't be replaceable. As Jeff remains uncooperative, a cop arrives to escort Angelo to the station (re: Kevin). Not buying Jeff's denial, Angelo leaves giving him the evil eye.
In her 'find Kevin' T-shirt, Chloe asks Heather why her custody papers were flagged by the police. Heather assumes it's due to the mention of Lucy's illegal adoption. Let's focus on Delia's safety. Chloe agrees - but never meant to get Billy in trouble.
Reluctantly, the Abbott's admit there was no adoption agency - no case worker - the paperwork was handled by Billy's assistant. No background check or home study? CPS must take the baby pending further investigation that all requirements have been met. Daniel, claiming he's the biological father isn't able to prevent it. The court will want to conduct it's own DNA test. Offering to do one immediately, Daniel hands over his information, while Mike heads off to see if the DA can intervene. As Vikki clings onto Lucy, Phyllis echoes her - you can't do this - please.
Still at G-worm, Jeff goes over the much sought after books (which he's not handing over without a fight). He leaves a message for 'Buttercup' (hoping she gets good news about Kevin).
Both also sporting their new T-shirts, Kay suggests sending a box over to G-worm - then gives Gloria some encouraging words. She hasn't always approved of Glo's actions, but one thing's clear - she loves her son. Yes, there's not a doubt in Kay's mind that they'll see Kevin again ~hug~
In the closet, Kevin pleads for release. Opening the door, a demented Jana's completely lost it. Dressed all goth - this who Jana REALLY is - the woman who collected scrap books on serial killers - who killed Carmen - locked him and Colleen in a freezer and set it on fire. The real Jana's back! - hotter than ever (and with some really fun plans for Kevin)
At the station, Chloe (with Heather) is back peddling with the DA when Mike races in to announce CPS is trying to take the Abbott's baby. It's all my fault, Chloe gulps. Yeah?! Ya think!? Mike then turns on Heather - get down to CPS for details - THEN, they'll discuss her dealings with Chloe - every one of em. And when Angelo arrives (announcing he's there for questioning re: Kevin), no one's more surprised than Mike when he claims that Mr Baldwin's his attorney.
Please don't let her take Lucy, Vikki pleads with Billy - then whines to the CPS workers - they don't know her schedule etc. Daniel thinks it ridiculous - taking a baby away from it's parents to protect her. Phyllis jumps in to say that Billy and Vikki are from prominent families. As Billy's ordered to stand aside, Vikki whimpers to Lucy - you'll be back soon, I promise. The CPS worker promises to take care of her. Her name's LUCY - our daughter - don't forget her blanket. Our daughter, Vikki gasps as she squirms out of Billy's embrace to run upstairs sobbing. We're getting her back, Phyllis and Daniel assure (while Billy admits his own carelessness for losing both his daughters). He then asks to be left alone - to look at the empty playpen - turn over the coffee table. I'm so sorry, he repeats as he sits to weep.
Next: Cane tells Lily he misses the babies - wants to see them .... You need to commit a crime - do something really BIG, Jana waves her arms around at Kevin ... I think you to stay somewhere else tonight, Vikki calmly informs Billy.
My Thoughts: Why's Jana struggling to rip out the article - when she has a collection of craft scissors? And 'in hiding' does she need to read the newspaper that desperately - that she'd risk being spotted? .... Since Kevin handcuffed himself, why would he chose to cuff his right hand? (unless he's left handed) - sure woulda made eating easier ... How on earth did Kay get all those T-shirts printed off so quickly. And why would she think that a good idea look how many 'find Katherine' T-shirts were leftover) ... Love how Kay couldn't remember (or pronounce) Glowworm ... Gloria had nightmares of Kevin locked in Jana's trunk? How did Jana afford to buy and insure a car again? Why haven't their license plates been run - or publicized? (since both her and Kevin's cars are parked on 'busy' streets?) ... NOW Chloe says there's 'no rush' on suing Billy for full custody? I thought she was worried about her daughter's safety. Where IS Delia anyway? Who's running RS? (Chloe, Billy and Phyllis all seem to have their plates full) Yet whatever staff's running RS are able to print off flyers in nanoseconds .... Why didn't the CPS case workers ask for the name of this 'assistant' who supposedly handled the paperwork for Lucy's adoption? ... The agreement between the Abbott's and Phyllis would never work - who determines what a 'milestone' is - and what's a 'major' decision? And one weekend a month isn't exactly 'full access' - what about birthdays? Holidays? .. No - Phyllis didn't get to do 'all those things' with Lucy (and right now, she's neglecting similar events with Summer) ... Pass Lucy around like a football? That's not a good idea (we saw her football skills when she played with Jack and Kyle) ... Knowing that the DNA people make house calls - on short notice - why couldn't CPS have summoned someone over? The Abbott's could certainly afford it. And would it have killed them to take the blankie Vikki's begging them to take? Or any other clothes that could have been quickly packed. They didn't even bother to ask about any allergies etc .... Is reminding CPS that Vikki and Billy are both from 'prominent' families a good idea? These prominent families are also predominantly criminal. Hey - maybe someone should call Victor in to 'handle' things. He's got such a good track record of 'fixing' things ... If the cops took everyone's 'history' into account, every GC resident would be considered a fugitive ... I still don't get how Angelo's able to take his pet into every restaurant in town. Don't health laws restrict all animals (except seeing eye dogs and such)? .... Come on now Kevin. I know the closet's traumatic and all - but it certainly doesn't lack air. Maybe he'd have more if he'd stop using it all up by shouting ... Given that the police were just there, why is Jana shouting at the top of her lungs - and without a job, where's she getting all this money for her new clothes? HAD her license plate been publicized, someone may have called it in ... Why are there so many abandoned places in GC anyway? Who builds a daycare on what appears to be property located right next door to train tracks? Convenient that Jana found a radio - with fully charged batteries. Odd that the neighbourhood punks didn't find this perfect party place (complete with music) before Jana. There's not even graffiti on the chalk board ... Why are the news reporters so convinced that Kevin and Jana took the kids on a train to Florida? There's obviously no surveillance footage to corroborate that theory ... Why isn't RS reporting any of this? Chloe's quotes are appearing in the local paper - but not the RS website? .... Why does Angelo bother to pick at his food if he's not gonna eat it? He doesn't like men who blame women for their mistakes? But he's OK with stuffing gags in their mouths and holding em hostage... Odd that Mike wasn't already aware that the newspaper contained an article about his brother. You'd think his 'friend' at the station would be keeping him apprised.
