At G-worm, Sophia leaves her third message for Tucker. Hearing that Malcolm's going to be a father 'again', Phyllis offers congratulations. She's expecting too (that Daniel's baby will soon be with her REAL family) - once the DNA results are in.
The Abbott's are lighting candles in Memorial's chapel - for Lucy (and that she'll be home soon) - and this one's for Abby and Tucker.
Open your eyes, Ashley implores - everything's gonna be OK (she'll make sure of it). Arriving, Daniel will sit with Abby - so Ash can go check on Tucker. He'll call if she wakes up.
Having gone home to change, Diane's back at Memorial - to answer the Detective's questions. Not only did Diane see no brake lights - the car actually accelerated and 'plowed' right into Tucker. Quite a coincidence, the Detective wonders why Mrs Newman was out there. Diane readily admits she was meeting Tucker. A romantic meeting? Implying it was, Diane suggests that Ashley found out. She doesn't say this lightly - but suspects this was no accident.
Jack comes (to the hospital lounge) bearing cinnamon rolls. Nice - but Victor's already brought pastries. We're on the same wavelength - Jack even bets Victor's also wondering what happens to Tucker's empire if he's not around to run it. Forget the mind reading - stick to delivering pastries, Victor snaps.
Joining the Murphy's in Tucker's room, Ashley's told the extent of his injuries. Brain activity is minimal, the doctor's prognosis is grim. Does Tucker have a living will? When Ashley starts to fall apart, Murphy suggests they discuss details outside (where Kay orders the doctor not to upset Ashley). The doctor's done all he can - it's time to plan for the worst (he leaves Kay to peer at Tucker through the window.
Sorry about 'us', Daniel makes a deal with the unconscious Abby - he'll do the whole 'ex boyfriend thing' on her show - if she'll lay off the partying. If he could do it all over again .... Interrupting, Vikki and Billy look nervous - when Daniel expresses regret. He shoulda handled things totally differently when learning that Lucy was Daisy's kid.
How sweet - Lucy and the Winter's baby will grow up together, Phyllis beams. Sophia putting her on speakerphone, Kay updates Malcolm and Phyllis too. Tucker's in the worst shape. Sophia will contact Tucker's lawyer (re: his last wishes) - and be right over.
Back in the lounge, a self deprecating Kay wonders aloud - what kind of mother must call a colleague to get her son's last wishes!? Oh, the squandered time.
Why would a woman newly married (to Tucker's business rival), agree to meet him the night before his wedding? Diane's marriage is being annulled - and it's a good thing she agreed to meet him (otherwise no one would know what really happened on the road that night).
A teary Ashley talks to the comatose Tucker. Abby was right about him all along. Was Diane really worth it? Worth everything that happened? And when Jack joins her, Ashley claims Tucker brought this on himself (then goes on to explain why Abby was taking her to the cabin - he was meeting Diane). Tucker and Diane? Jack's astounded. How could you do this to me? Ashley sniffles - on the night before our wedding.
When Billy asks Daniel if he's having second thoughts (on giving Lucy to them), Daniel wishes he'd told the truth - so they could work things out quietly. He owes everyone an apology. He should have told Abby too. Vikki wishes she too had paid more attention (to Abby 'acting out'). Billy just wants to focus on getting Lucy back.
Jack updates Victor (that Tucker told Ashley he was going to a bachelor party - but was meeting Diane at the cabin - for some 'fun'). So, now it's Victor's fault (for not keeping an eye on things at home). The enemies agree on one more thing (saving their contempt for Diane).
Having 'serious questions', the detective badgers Ashley again. My fiance's in a coma - and my daughter's unconscious, Ashley points out - do YOU have children? If so, you must know how I'm feeling. Ashley will answer the detective's questions here and now - or down at the station.
At Tucker's bedside, Kay's just a mother desperate to keep her son alive. Oh my God! Sophia gasps (then introduces the Murphy's to Tucker's lawyer - who reports that Tucker's living will stipulates no extraordinary measures be taken).
Allowed to ask her questions, the detective notes the lack of skid marks (indicating Ashley didn't even try to brake - or swerve). In fact, she accelerated. Ashley repeats her story - she was distracted. Weren't you driving up there to prevent your fiance from having an affair? Interrupting, Victor ends the questioning by sending Ashley to check on Abby. Does this witness happen to be my wife? Victor tells the Detective that Diane has an agenda. And if she continues to harass Ashley, Victor will complain to her superior; Commissioner O'Connor. A complaint he'll take very seriously. Have a nice day, Victor strolls off.
In Tucker's room, Ashley disagrees with Tucker being taken off the ventilator - he's a fighter. Yes - but he doesn't want a machine fighting for him, the lawyer insists. And with all due respect Ashley has no say in the manner. Well, Kay does - and will use all her clout in this town (to ensure he son survives).
In the lounge, Sophia updates Jack, Phyllis and Malcolm (that, according to the living will, Tucker will be removed from the ventilator). On cue, the attorney joins them to imply that Sophia's now in charge. Phyllis gently scolds Jack (for sounding like a vulture). He doesn't care - not when Jabot's on the line.
Victor now counsels Ashley. Yes, she needs an attorney. No, Ashley doesn't need him to call Baldwin. Daniel gets a call - the results are in. Declining Vikki's attempt to go with him, he'll contact them afterwards (which leaves the Abbott's fretting over where Lucy will end up). Vikki just wants her baby back. Also leaving, Victor will pretend he didn't hear Billy's remark (that he's bailing when his daughters need him). In the hallway, Daniel's on the phone (unable to think about doing an art show right now). Victor gives him the stare down. Lucy's fate in HIS hands, he hopes Daniel won't let his daughter down.
Spotting Diane, Jack thinks she has a lot of nerve being there. Circle the wagons, Diane sneers with sarcasm (that she's responsible for all the world's misery). It's on HER head - Jack won't let her play the martyr. What an example for Kyle - chasing after a man the night before his wedding. Tucker invited me! Diane retaliates. And when Victor interrupts - to discuss 'his wife's' allegation that Ashley deliberately hit Tucker, a disgusted Jack can't stand to be with her - so leaves them to it with a 'why you little ......'
In the chapel with Billy, Kay whines that being on the board isn't enough to keep Tucker on the ventilator. Just yesterday, she'd decided to make things better between her and Tucker. Billy also has issues with bureaucrats (whom he must fight to get Lucy). Clasping hands, both can only pray that everything will work out.
Back in the lounge, Diane insists she WASN'T lying. You accused Ashley of attempted murder! WTH is the matter with you?! Victor can't believe her 'pure spite'. This whole thing happened because Diane's 'nothing but a tramp'.
Meanwhile, in Abby's room, Ashley's stunned when Jack updates her that Diane told the detective that she deliberately tried to kill her fiance. She hates me that much!? Maybe's she's jealous - lives to cause trouble - Jack won't let her get away with it. Getting a call from Murphy, Jack has more news - Tucker's being taken off the ventilator. Abby awakening, Ashley sends Jack to Tucker - then gently explains there was an accident. OMG - Tucker! Abby gasps.
All gathered in Tucker's room, the doctor doesn't know if Tucker will breath on his own. And if he does? We'll see if it lasts. He'll likely die, Kay warbles - this travesty is on THEIR heads! Oh Tucker, she agonizes in Murphy's arms.
Finding Daniel in the chapel, Phyllis opens the envelope (that states 99.9% Daniel's the father). Go bring your baby home. Where's home? My place, Phyllis will take full responsibility - if that's what Daniel wants. Promise you won't give her back to Billy and Victoria (who sadly, arrive to hear it).
That's nice Phyllis - good to know who you're friends are, Billy snarls. Don't let your mother use our baby to work out HER issues, Vikki implores. Phyllis is sorry - but she NOT your baby. Daniel's had it with all three of them. He's picking up his baby - then, we'll see.
If Victor had any doubts about ending their marriage, he doesn't now. You're dumping me for telling the truth? Diane balks. Come ON - you can't stand me being with Tucker - but I walked in on you and Nikki. He has some nerve calling HER a tramp. Diane knows EXACTLY who Victor is - a hypocrite! You and I are finished - and this time she won't walk away a wealthy woman. The marriage annulled, she won't get a cent (and must vacate the ranch TODAY).
I ran over Tucker! Is he dead!? I was driving, Ashley assures (as the skeptical detective watches through the window).
All watch on as the doctor removes the tube. Breath - breath, Kay encourages - you are my son - don't give up! Don't you dare let him go God! Breath dammit! Prayers answered, Tucker takes a few laboured breaths (much to everyone's relief).
Next: Take your things and get out - otherwise I'll have you thrown off the ranch! Victor orders Diane ... I'm gonna get full custody of our daughter, Billy vows. In your dreams, a smugly confident Chloe exits ... I know this can't be real - I just need you so much, Lily hugs Cane.
My Thoughts: Jack's a fine one to talk about Diane setting a bad example (didn't he just sleep with the married Diane?) ... Was Diane really worth it? Ashley asks Tucker. How's he supposed to know? Since he obviously never made it to the tryst .... You alright Ash? Duh Jack - her daughter's unconsciuous - the fiance she now thinks was cheating on her is near death - and she's taking blame for the accident. How does Jack THINK she'd be doing? .... Tucker's room's pretty crowded - considering he's supposed to be in ICU ... Considering how distraught Kay is, her make up's holding up remarkably well .... Did Phyllis really need to make a point that Malcolm was gonna be a father - again (since he's not been considered Lily's father since conception)? ... Odd that Kent hasn't shown up - trying to film the Naked Heiress in her hospital bed? ... Now knowing that Tuckefr's on his death bed, shouldn't Sophia's first stop be to get her phone of it's charger? Shouldn't she be stepping in to take over McCall Unlimited? ... FINALLY, the DNA results are ready. Sure took em long enough. But why would they even trust the results (given the lab's track record for accuracy, or rather, inaccuracy) ... Why isn't Diane's statement being taken at the station? And Ashley's for that matter ..... If the car ahead was speeding (and assuming Diane's wasn't) isn't it possible that the car was too far ahead for her to have seen brake lights - and on a dark country road, how could she possibly know that the car accelartated - and that it didn'swerve? |
