At CL's, Traci warns Jack NOT to discuss business with Ashley (who's just been bailed outta jail by The Mustache; much to Jack's chagrin). Insisting he just wants to make things easier for Ashley, Jack won't mention Jabot - unless SHE does. He's then horrified to hear that Ashley's at the hospital - nothing will keep her away from Tucker. After Traci leaves, Victor saunters over (and thanked begrudgingly by Jack, claims he's 'very fond' of Ashley). Lotta change in the wind, Jack and Victor warn one another not to get too excited (where Jabot's concerned).
In the hospital hallway, Ashley tries to convince Kay that (despite her history) she's sane - and would never hurt Tucker. Yesterday's conversation? Ash was begging for Tucker's forgiveness after learning about Abby's lies. Ashley did NOT want him dead. Pointing out that Ashley (now sniffling) has been charged with attempted murder, Kay is also 'safeguarding' Tucker's companies - by firing Ashley.
On the CL's patio, Nina has a surprise for Chance - a Mom/son trip to LA! Alas, Chance can't go (because he's going back into the army).
The Abbott's at home, Vikki doesn't understand why Daniel hasn't called (to say he's got custody of Lucy). Yes, he's frustrated with them (and their fight with Phyllis) - but Billy's sure he'll give them custody. However, a call from Rafe worries Billy - Seriously? When? What happened?! asks an anxious Vikki.
At the penthouse, Phyllis is delighted to hear that Daniel will be getting Lucy - she's 'coming home' today.
Happy that Kay's now in charge, Jack does indeed think she'll give him Ashley's CEO job (if she wants to be part of the 'biggest thing to hit the cosmetics industry in quite some time'). And once Kay learns that Jabot's on 'the brink of greatness', she won't sell - not even to Victor (who's left to look smug - it's a 'challenge worth winning').
How could you fire me? Ashley balks. OK - maybe THAT'S a business decision - but not allowing her to see Tucker is personal. Never mind that Ashley's innocent until proven guilty, Kay (reluctantly) will have her arrested if she doesn't leave. The firing? It'll be handled as quietly as possible (in the press). Jabot won't be left 'vulnerable' (with the NE IPO coming up). Wow - Ashley wonders what Tucker will say when he gets well and hears about this. Focus on your defense - and your family, Kay advises. Giving up, Ashley leaves Kay also with tears in her eyes.
Back on the patio, Nina reminds Chance that he's already done three tours in Iraq. Already signed up, Chance is just waiting for the word (to head back to the Middle East). Nina's reaction is just as he expected - but it's HIS life - HIS choice.
Daniel only requested Lucy be dropped off at the penthouse because he figured Phyllis would have everything she needed (which of COURSE she does) - and how excited Summer will be! It's only for a coupla days, Daniel warns Phyllis not to get excited. Give it a month, Phyllis suggests - Daisy won't return to GC. Besides, Lucy's no safer with the Abbott's - this is YOUR daughter. Seeing it's a call from Vikki, a conflicted Daniel lets her leave yet another 'call me' message.
While Traci thinks it wonderful news (that Lucy's out of foster care), Billy's not so sure - until Daniel calls them back. Informing that she's left Daniel five messages already, Vikki tells Traci that Phyllis is pressuring him to retain custody.
At G-worm, Ashley updates Jack; Kay firing her - denying her visiting Tucker. No, she didn't mention her new product (which she knows won't change Kay's mind). Go for Jabot - but Jack's NOT to pretend he isn't doing it for himself (and that he's doing it for Ashley).
Victor drops by the mausoleum - to talk to Kay about the 'vulnerable' Jabot. Assuming Kay asked Ashley to resign (and knowing that Jack wants to be CEO), Victor warns against it. Yes, he has somebody in mind; Vikki.
We need to talk, Rafe takes Billy outside (leaving Vikki to fret to Traci; what if they don't get Lucy back!?). On the front porch, Rafe tells Billy that the Judge has imposed a 'gag order' - and the DA's office is threatening charges against the 'uncooperative' Billy (for the illegal adoption).
Back at the penthouse, Phyllis continues to badger Daniel into fathering Lucy. The Abbott's are great parents? Billy BOUGHT her, she reminds (then adds a list of reasons why Lucy should be raised by her biological family). And when CPS drops Lucy off, Phyllis gushes over her briefly before handing her to 'Daddy' (whom she watches with high hopes).
Campaigning for Vikki (and her expertise in the cosmetics industry), Victor admits their relationship hasn't improved. In fact, she'd consider him meddling. This is strictly business, he assures Kay.
Rafe warns Billy that he's serious - charges WILL be laid if he doesn't start talking (to the DA). There's no 'way around' buying a baby - it's criminal conspiracy. Talk to the DA!
Inside, Vikki tells Traci just how badly she wants Lucy back. But is that 'loving' her? Traci gently worries about that innocent baby - once again in chaos. I should let her go? Vikki whimpers. Traci knows Vikki loves Lucy - enough to ensure she's never hurt again.
Phyllis takes photos of Daniel holding a fussy Lucy. She's SO happy the pretty girl is with her 'Daddy'. Lucy, not so much.
No - Chance DOESN'T know how hard this is on Nina (who explains her anguish when he was in Iraq). Please - we've done our duty - don't put me through this again, she implores in tears.
Meeting Jack as he exits the mausoleum, Victor's smug (that he beat him there - and doubting that anything Jack proposes will beat HIS offer). Once inside, Jack wants to discuss the future of Jabot - selling it would be a terrible mistake. Kay's not selling; to Victor or anyone else. Yes, Jack DOES want to be CEO - and hands Kay a little jar; an exclusive breakthrough product that'll revolutionize Jabot.
Chance's life had purpose in Iraq. After testifying, he just doesn't fit in with GC's police squad. He wants to get himself back. Not 'running', Chance is moving onto something 'better'.
Traci praises Vikki on the 'amazing' message she just left. You're so wonderful, Vikki thanks Traci with a hug. Get rid of the attorney and spend time with your husband, is Traci's departing pearl of wisdom. Billy (Rafe following him in), informs Vikki that he might face charges (but is sure it'll be alright if he gives the DA details; like the baby broker's name). Off to 'see what he can do' (about having the charges dropped), Rafe leaves Billy to hug Vikki.
Lucy now sleeping in the bassinet, Phyllis claims to be done with her speeches - she just wants to enjoy every minute they have with Lucy. Daniel thanking her, Phyllis nods through her tears (then leaves him to listen to Vikki's long winded message; in which she lists the qualities that would make him a great Dad). She now realizes that none of them should be telling Daniel what to do. Knowing he only wants what's best for his little girl, Vikki's sorry she forgot that. So - if he decides to keep Lucy *sniffle* she promises they'll accept it.
It's a deeply hydrating moisturizer derived from cactus serum, Jack explains (as Kay rubs it into her wrist and declares it 'wonderful'). Handing over a folder; data to back up his claims, Jack (who's also revamped Jabot's logo) is the man to sell the new product. Jabot's stock and profits will skyrocket, he almost seems to have Kay convinced.
Victor joining her at G-worm, Ashley thanks him (for bailing her out). You can tell me anything, Victor invites. Ashley's scared (the police and Kay don't believe it was an accident). She's filed a restraining order. The supportive Victor assures that Mike's working on it (hoping the charges will be dropped before trial). Ashley's to delete the word 'can't' from her vocabulary.
Snuggling on the couch, Vikki's not completely sure she can accept Daniel raising Lucy - but she's tired of the fighting and hatefulness. Lucy deserves better. Also with a tear in his eye, Billy's not sure what he'll do if he has to give up Lucy. It's not in our hands - it's in Daniel's, Vikki's resigned - we'll have to live with it.
Finding the living room and bassinet empty, Phyllis is horrified by the note Daniel left behind. 'Mom, I'm sorry'.
Nina packing up her folder of travel brochures, she and Chance are about to leave when Heather comes along. This is because of YOU! Nina lashes out. What's my fault? Heather's stunned - and further stunned when Nina shrieks 'Chance is leaving!'.
Showing him out, Kay's impressed with Jack's 'presentation' - but needs time to think before making her decision. Her concerns? She needs a strong leader who'll work WITH and FOR her. Yes, Jack could do that - and be anything Kay needs him to be - because (despite what anyone thinks) he's doing it for his family. Kay's left looking even more impressed.
No, Victor's not surprised - he's spoken to Kay (so knows she fired Ashley for business reasons). Ignoring Ashley's pondering that he must have his eye on Jabot, Victor has a meeting to get to - stay strong, he gives her a friendly kiss - then a hug for Traci as he passes her on his way out. Kay fired you? Yes, Kay fired her. Woe is me - Ashley can't even comprehend all she's lost in such a short time. Traci doesn't know what the future holds - but they'll survive it.
Arriving at the Abbott home with Lucy and a diaper bag, Daniel announces that he still wants them to adopt her. Oh Daniel! Thank you so much, Vikki sighs with relief. Handing Lucy over, Daniel will get the paperwork started - but in the meantime, he'd like to stay in the apartment above the garage (while Lucy stays with them). Readily agreeing, the Abbott's fuss over Lucy - as a not so happy Phyllis peers through the window.
Next: If anything happens to him it's on your head! Nina snarls at a shocked Heather. Hey - don't talk to her like that, Paul arrives to scold .... Cassie's welcome to come by whenever she wants, Sharon tells Sam. Who's Cassie? he asks .... Adam arrives at G-worm with Diane. I believe you've met, he sneers at Nick. Hello Nick, Diane also sneers.
My Thoughts: If Jack WAS trying to help Ashley, he woulda taken HER over to Kay's - and let HER pitch the miracle cream SHE developed - which they'd get out on the market IF it's creator remained CEO ... How exactly has NINA 'served her country? Hollywood producers are STILL waiting for her blockbuster screenplay adaptation of Kay's memoirs (and to think - Jill was so stressed about her private life being made into a movie) ... What makes Victor think Vikki would WANT to be Jabot's CEO? With 500 million coming her way and a wealthy publisher husband, why would she leave her infant at home to take on a demanding, full time job? Never mind the potential stress it'd add to her marriage (since she'd be ousting two of Billy's siblings).... Ashley shoulda made a deal with Victor - she'll delete the word 'can't' from her vocabulary, if he'll delete the word 'ain't' from his (perhaps she could negotiate for 'you got that', 'you betcha' and 'I'll be damned' while she's at it) .... If I was in my 80's and someone handed me a jar of 'wonderful' revolutionary miracle cream, I think I'd be slathering it all over my face - not putting a dot on the back of my hand ... Yes Traci, Lucy was 'born into chaos' - but what child in GC wasn't? They're always coming early - usually in an elevator or while stranded in a snowstorm. Had Lucy been born in prison, she'd have a safer and cleaner delivery than most (IE Delia and Summer) ... With everyone so concerned about Daisy still being on the loose, why hasn't she been caught yet? The Royal Canadian Mounted Police motto is we 'always get out man' (perhaps it doesn't apply to women) If Mike and Daniel were able to find Daisy, why can't the RCMP? .... Yeah - Phyllis has everything an infant could need - a stuffed, green frog. With the cost of diapers and formula etc. perhaps Daniel should think about selling some paintings (or getting a real job) - instead of turning down art shows ..... I can see Phyllis picking up some diapers and formula - but why would she go to the expense of buying stuff like a bassinet? (when Daniel's made it clear he's not raising Lucy) And if Phyllis was so sure they WERE gonna raise Lucy, I'm surprised she didn't suggest changing her name ... Great that Rafe's so concerned about his baby buyin' client - but he should also be concerned that the DA's gonna ask Billy where he got the baby broker's name in the first place (which of course was Rafe) .... When exactly did Daniel 'look into' the foster family Lucy was staying with? You'd think CPS would keep info on foster family's private (especially from the biological parents of the child they're caring for). Of COURSE the foster family is wonderful - them and their homes are very carefully screened and monitored. I wonder if CPS would have given Lucy to Daniel - if they knew that within a coupla hours, he was gonna return her to the man who 'bought' her ... And when exactly was Ashley working on this miraculous moisturizer for 'month after month'? She was rarely seen in Jabot's CEO office - never mind the lab. I guess it was the same time (and place) Jack was gaining all his newfound 'wisdom and experience' he's boasting to Kay about. If he's so full of wisdom and experience, why hasn't he been able to find a job (other than whining about not having one at Jabot)? ... Why weren't the Abbott's the ones to bail Ashley out? Shouldn't THEY have been working on that immediately after she was arrested? ... Given that Traci's daughter's heart is beating in his concave (or is it convex) chest, you'd think Victor would have had more to say to Traci. He could at least have told her to order herself a nice dinner (and charge it to him) ..... Oh good - Vikki has Lucy back - perhaps she'll start brushing her hair now ... How is it that Billy's been able to elude the DA for so long? Perhaps Walsh should have delegated the case to the diligent detective who's been camped out at Memorial to interrogate Ashley and Abby. Are the cops not able to find Billy's house or place of business (not that he's ever there). RS's June issue is gonna be pretty lame (even though there's plenty goin' on in Newmanland. Articles about both Adam and Diane have been published - so you'd think them shacking up - on Victor's property no less - would be a juicy story). What happened to them anyway? Are they still stuck at the guardhouse with Frank?
