Phyllis is NOT liking what she spies through the Abbott's window. No one's ever, ever gonna take you away again, Vikki gushes over Lucy. Easily negotiating a flat screen and cable for the garage apartment, Daniel's drawn into a group hug. Really? Billy can't believe it when Phyllis barges in (to ask Daniel what the hell he's doing).
At the mausoleum, Jill fusses over the hard working Kay. You wanna have another stroke? Kay moans that she, Murphy and Ester are driving her insane. Encouraging Kay to search for the grandson she's never met, Jill's offer to take her to the hospital is declined (as she pauses to look very tired before ascending the stairs).
You're re-enlisting? Heather's stunned. Chance tries to silence Nina's accusations - this isn't a knee jerk reaction to his break up with Heather, he insists. You broke his heart - if anything happens to him it's on your head, Nina snarls. Hey - don't talk to her like that, Paul arrives to scold.
Oh poor Sharon - weeping on her cot in the barn - swiping away her tears when Sam comes to ask if Piper can visit her later. 'Sherry's' sure got a real nice way with kids. Yes, Cassie's welcome to come by anytime. Who's Cassie? Sam's understandably puzzled.
At G-worm, Nick shows Faith a photo of Mommy with Cassie (his angel up in heaven). Entering, Diane's busy on the phone (trying to book a suite) - so Adam saunters over. Get away from her, Nick ends his call to snarl. His gloating (about Adam not being able to access his place) comes to a screeching halt when Adam does some gloating of his own; I believe you've met my roommate. Informing Adam that their suite will be ready soon, Diane sneers a 'Hello Nick'.
The stand off on the patio continues. It's Chance's decision, Paul points out. Yes, and Chance still would have re-enlisted even if things DID work out with Heather (who's surprised). While Chance appreciates Paul's support, Nina does NOT (then goes on about how she worried when he was overseas). And it's all Heather's fault - for breaking Chance's heart. You're leaving!? a horrified Jill arrives. Expecting to be shipped out soon, Chance asks if they really wanna spend the last few days arguing.
I can't believe you did this, Phyllis is 'devastated'. Daniel will explain - but not here. OK - let's get Lucy and go. Uh uh - she's staying here, Daniel points out that Phyllis doesn't have a say. And when Phyllis hints about calling CPS, Vikki questions if that's in Lucy's best interests - really? Next time she's coming with us, Phyllis marches out. Assuring the Abbott's that he'll handle 'her', Daniel leaves Vikki to worry. We have our little girl home, Billy reassures - that's all that matters.
Oh - I meant Piper, Sharon confides that Cassie's her deceased daughter (then goes on to glowingly describe her). Hearing today's the anniversary of Cassie's death, Sam wasn't going to 'rescue' Sharon - merely make her a home cooked meal.
You must be pretty desperate after Dad kicked you out, Nick snarls at Diane (who'll 'latch onto anyone with a few bucks'). As for Adam, him hooking up with his next 'victim' so soon after Sharon's death proves how much he really loved her.
Trying to keep her mind off 'things', Sharon's scrubbed the hot plate. Wait til you taste my world famous Pasta Primavera, Sam boasts (causing Sharon to drop (and shatter) the glass she was holding.
As Nick goes on about Adam betraying Sharon's memory, Adam strikes back (this coming from a man who couldn't decide with ex to cheat on). When Nick jumps up menacingly, Diane claims that unlike with other Newman's, there's no pretenses with Adam - she knows exactly who he is (unlike other members of his family). You two deserve each other, Nick quickly packs up and marches out carrying Faith.
Mom, you're not listening - this wasn't an impulsive decision. And it's not about Heather (her Dad chimes in more defense). Nina thinks she knows her son better than Paul does. Jill's reminder that they're in public sends Nina scurrying out (Chance's 'Mom, Mom' ringing in her ears). Paul understands - Nina's just frightened. Chance again assures Heather it's NOT because of her (then speaks of how much he loves the army; where he belongs). Paul's proud - Nina will be too. And as Jill and Chance head off after her, Paul assures Heather with a hug (that she hasn't messed things up for him and Nina).
At the mausoleum front door, Kay's surprised when a sergeant in full uniform arrives with Chance's deployment papers. He's to leave Monday. Alone, Kay reads - oh dear God no - why would you take Chance from us again?
Diane feels she sure wasted her time (coming back to show everyone in GC that she was a 'better person'). She lists the people who treat her badly (as they do Adam). Meaning her words to Nick (about Adam), the former 'hell raiser' suggests they team up - show em how it's done. We're roommates, that's it. Claiming he DID love Sharon, Adam walks off.
Sharon and Sam clean up the glass. Nothing can replace losing a child (a burden Sam's glad she shared). Now, how about that Pasta Primavera.
Still on the patio, Paul tells Heather not to take it personally (Nina's overprotective of Chance). Heather's not sure she's wrong - and despite Paul's warning, is determined to sort things out with Chance (before he's deployed). You comin'?
Back at the mausoleum, Chance tells Nina to blame HIM if anyone. He's doing this for himself. SHE raised him to set principles - to live his life with honour and integrity. Nina can't help being selfish. And of course she's proud of him (but terrified). We've gotta let him go, Jill chimes in - but doesn't think they should tell Kay (who comes in with the papers; you leave Monday).
You're really going, Nina whimpers - as Kay scolds Jill for not telling her (so she could have Chance's time to herself). Why the Middle East? Nina's still whining - go somewhere else. Chance talks of his friend/interpreter Hisham (who lost everything - but saved his life). He got an email from him the other day. It's not about war, it's about saving lives. Jill understands ~hug~ Kay not so much. And when Heather and Paul arrive, Nina spits out that Chance leaves Monday. Marching out, she'll never forgive Heather for this.
Lucy drinks her bottled welcome home dinner. It's like she knows she's home - the Abbott's are one happy little family.
The penthouse; not so happy. Phyllis hears Daniel - but why couldn't he give it a month? She's NOT being stubborn. The Abbott's will just be hurt again when he takes her back. Make a clean break. The court won't let Lucy stay with the Abbott's. That's why Daniel's moving into their apartment - until the adoption's final.
Following Adam to the bar, Diane didn't mean to cross the line - she knows he loved Sharon. Drink in hand, Adam mourns. Sharon forgave him for the unforgivable; loved him knowing the world would be against them. Oh, that first Thanksgiving; Pasta Primavera. Blah, blah, blah.
Setting the table, Sharon talks aloud to Cassie - thanking her for sending a good friend; Sam (who brings in two heaping plates of pasta). Swearing Sharon to secrecy, he admits he got the recipe from a cooking show. Chuckling along, Sharon's smile doesn't quite reach her eyes.
Nick's now got Faith on the patio - also talking about Cassie. She told us we'd have another little girl. Sharon and Cassie are their two angels watching out for them. Daddy promises to protect you too.
It's no surprise that Phyllis doesn't approve of Daniel's plan. Will he live there for the next 18 years? The adoption might NOT 'go through' - Chloe's suing Billy for full custody - Vikki already lost Reed. Plus, Billy adopted Lucy was illegally. They're not exemplary parents. Compared to who? You? Phyllis is now angry - I'm an incredible parent to Summer! Admit it, Daniel stands his ground - Lucy's better off with the Abbott's.
When Kay still refuses to give her blessing, Chance claims to have read her autobiography - did anyone stop HER from doing what she wanted? Alright ~hug~ Following Jill (to check on Nina), Chance tells Heather 'not now'. Sending Heather off to fetch tea, Kay hires Paul to find Tucker's son.
The suite now ready, Adam will meet Diane over there. You're as ruthless as your father - but you also have hope in you, Diane says on parting (leaving Adam to stare at the empty table - tearing us as he flashes back to Sharon accepting his proposal)
Sharon continues to tell stories about the wonderful Cassie (an animal lover and girl after Sam's own heart). The pasta? It's a different recipe than Sharon's used to - but yes, she liked it.
Still on the patio, Nick tells Faith that there used to be a picture of Cassie right up there (flashback to Sharon and Nick both seeking solace there).
Phyllis isn't fighting against Daniel, she's fighting FOR him. You don't get a say, Daniel points out. If it's a mistake, it's his to make - there's nothing she can do about it. Oh yeah? Phyllis logs onto restlessstyle.com.
The Abbott's make plans - to move some of Lucy's things into Daniel's apartment (to make it look like she lives with Daniel). If she's caught with them, they'll say they're babysitting. No one's gonna break us apart - as long as Billy doesn't break the gag order (nothing must appear in RS about Lucy).
Phyllis pulls up the 'Homewreckers of GC' page (which now features the photo she took of Daniel holding Lucy). Daisy come out and play, she murmurs a challenge.
Next: What the hell did you do? an angry Daniel barges past Phyllis into the penthouse ... I want you to make love to me, Lily whispers passionately to Caleb .... You stay away from the office - and stay the hell away from my child, a furious Billy hisses at Phyllis.
My Thoughts: Sorry for the lateness - soccer season has begun .... Go Phyllis! Sure, she's absolutely wrong - but it's about time she did something more exciting than obsess over Nick - or Sharon - or Nick AND Sharon. I still find it funny as hell that she, of all people, writes a blog entitled 'The Real homewreckers of GC' ...... Yes - it is a public place - but Nick most certainly can stop Adam from putting his hands on and talking to his daughter... She was really young, Sharon says - a teenager (since she's not that old herself, I'm guessing Sam thought Sharon's dead daughter was a toddler not a teenager) ... Diane came to GC to show everyone she was a better person? Better in bed? ..... Does Kay realize how juvenile she sounds - accusing Jill of wanting Chance all to herself? And where's Murphy for this conversation. A vet himself, he might actually have something useful to add for once ... NuFaith (or Bam Bam as I like to call her - and you'll soon see why) is just as adorable as the little boy who used to play her. But I'm not sure I'd wanna be using the cinnamon shaker she had her nose all over.... Yeah - whatever happened to Cassie's Corner? I guess Kevin doesn't quite understand the purpose of a memorial. Oh well - at least we have the annual Cassie show. Nice that Sharon's thinking of ONE of her kids. Ironic that it's the dead one.
