Much to everyone's surprise, Tucker steps forward to applause (instead of a stunned Kay). Recovering quickly, Jack goes along - heaping praise on Tucker and McCall Unlimited. Invited to say a few words, the new line's creator, the 'shy' Ashley, says only two; thank you. The focus back on Tucker, he's silent when Christina from the Insider stumps him with a question about projected sales.
Victor pays Vikki another visit - with some take out food. Though unable to eat, Vikki invites him in.
Billy's already ordering Tequila's as he walks through Jimmy's door. You? This night can't get any worse, he grumbles at his bartender; Cane.
Billy thinks Cane has 'some stones' showing his face in GC - but realizing he's not much better, Billy won't jump over the bar and beat Cane with a bottle - and he's to just pour the drinks. Cane refuses - getting drunk's not the answer. Learn from my mistakes; man up - deal with problems.
Look at this you're working - wow, Victor's impressed (as he too finds solace in business). Sorry that Vikki doesn't have her Mom to turn to, Victor's willing to listen (and try to answer Vikki's philosophical questions about true love - and relationships that 'just work'). Told that Billy's visit left Vikki feeling even worse, Victor ponders - is that because there's 'distance' - or because you didn't ask him to stay?
When Christina continues to stump Tucker with her hard hitting questions, he defers to the 'expert'. Ashley smoothly jumps in to promote shopjabot.com and the new anti aging line. Linking arms with Jack and Tucker, she thanks both. Abby and Sofia are the most stunned - when Christina's last question outs their hospital marriage; care to comment?
Back at Jimmy's, Billy's not buying 'Casper's' hero act (that he was protecting his wife and kids). Cane's sorry to hear Billy 'screwed it up' with Vikki. Guess they have that in common. Wanna tell me what happened? Cane plays understanding bartender.
Glad she and her father are getting along, Vikki doesn't want to discuss Billy (but ends up doing so anyway). She believes Billy (about the hooker) - but he's made so many mistakes (like losing Delia today). Victor feels badly about that (and Delia). Vikki's tired of making excuses for Billy (who just keeps sinking lower). How do you know when it's time to walk away.
Yes - Tucker and Ashley got married. It wasn't 'secret', it was 'intimate'. When Christina then asks Abby for comment, she stammers - where do I begin?
Abby admits the wedding was the last thing she expected - imagine my shock when I found out. How did the newlyweds break it to her? Pretending she already knew, Abby jokes about rehab; where she learned about accountability. Her Mom deserves to be happy. All applaud as Abby takes a spot between Tucker and Ashley. Those who aren't 'buyin' it' (like Jack, Kay and Jill), exchange looks (as the 'new family' pose for photos).
Vikki continues to mope - she thought she'd have grandchildren in this house. It's too painful to watch Billy self destruct. You ARE helping Dad. Victor clucks about the poor kids - Billy's struggling with his demons. Should Vikki help him? Billy's the only one who can fix his problems. Yeah - Vikki agrees he's right. Victor cautions her to be careful - don't get dragged down with Billy.
At Jimmy's, Billy and Cane commiserate (both had it all - but let down the women they love). No, Lily's not talking to Cane (but who can blame her?). Maybe - one day ... In the next century, Billy quips (then tells Cane to stick with what he knows pouring drinks and cleaning up puke). Fight for what you want, Cane advises - or give up now. Billy doesn't need anybody to tell him what to do - especially Cane.
As Jack replaces Abby in the photo ops, Kay and Jill gossip. Sofia comes along; isn't it lovely that Tucker could make it tonight, she needles (leaving Jill shaking her head). Jack hisses at Ashley (who could have mentioned that she was bringing Tucker). Congratulating the newlyweds, Lauren also offer tips on a happy marriage. Sofia then offers congratulations - and as Ashley mosey's off, is asked if Kay gave her a hard time. That sweet old lady? Sofia scoffs - then is forced to admit that Mrs C put her on a paid leave of absence. Outraged, Tucker wants her back to work in the morning. Both staring at her, Kay retreats.
Ignoring the camera's, Victor's there to see what all the fuss is about. You missed all the excitement, Jack gloats that they'll bury BofN. Jabot's about to turn the cosmetics industry inside out. Enjoy the moment, Victor chuckles, then saunters off.
Oh Billy - what are you doing? Vikki mopes alone at home, phone in hand. Abruptly, she jumps up, grabs her keys and exits.
I'm outta here, Billy's heard enough from Cane (who tells him to go ahead - run). Shut up, Billy snarls. Not doing so, Cane continues with his tough love. With a heavy hand, he then lines up the shot glasses - and pours. Drink it! he slams down the bottle. Taking a bar stool, Billy grins; thank you.
Back at the launch, Ashley moans about the way Abby learned of her wedding. She took off, Victor's told. Why would he cause a scene? He's just gonna say 'hello' to a few people. Ashley chats some more with Sofia (who noticed Tucker seemed a bit 'befuddled' - but isn't over worried about it).
Across the room, Jack credits Tucker on making an entrance. Tucker then credits Jack with getting the new line out so quickly. He and Ashley will always step up for one another, Jack assures. You're a good brother, Tucker claps his shoulder (and leaves him worried)
At the bar, Kay poses with Victor - commenting that Tucker better appreciate all his mother did for him. On cue, Tucker shakes Victor's hand (then asks for a moment alone with Kay)
Jill's not quite as happy as Lauren - because Billy hasn't called. Lauren's offer to close up tonight (so Jill can find Billy) is declines. Jill wouldn't know where to begin looking. Jill's left to leave Billy yet another message (hating the way they left things).
Vikki arrives - and quickly sidestepping her father, needs to speak to Jack, Jill (and Ashley). It's Billy - I need your help, she blurts out.
Pondering a Martini, Abby ignores Victor's call (just like she did Ashley's). Not in the mood, she sips.
Back at the boutique, Kay declares the evening a success - then fusses over Tucker (who confronts her on her decisions while he was in the hospital). It stops NOW. He's ready to go back to work - time for HER to step down (and he'll fight her legally if she doesn't).
With Vikki and the rest of the Abbott's, Ashley's horrified to hear Billy lost custody of Delia. He's drinking and gambling - and unlike Vikki, Jack believes Billy's lying about the prostitute. Vikki relays his visits - he's a wreck. What can we do? He's out of control. We'll lose him if we don't help. All are glad Vikki came to them. And as Vikki worries that Billy's gotten himself into real trouble this time, a bloodied Billy's unconscious on the airbag of his smashed up car.
Next: Deacon leans over the bar to inform Diane - It was Abby that hit Tucker McCall - not her Mom .... Tucker confronts Abby - the truth - did you try to kill me? .... Hi Dad - what's up? Billy?! Vikki looks shocked - as Chloe hovers behind her.
My Thoughts: Jabot's new line includes a '5 star' anti aging serum? Who's giving these stars out? The same folks who rate hotels and restaurants? ... Victor and Nikki have a 'connection that's never been broken'? It sure seemed broken when Victor (grieving the wife he loved) wished Nikki dead ... And God help us all if THEY'RE an example of 'true love' (as the Newman's are nothing more than an example of an abusive/unhealthy/dysfunctional relationship, co-dependent) ...The romantic fairy tale ended a few 'I do's' ago ... Why would Abby go to BUY drinks at G-worm, when there's a free bar at the launch (but I guess the Naked Heiress doesn't have a cash flow problem) .. Since it was obvious that Jack was introducing Kay (when Tucker spoke up), why didn't he proceed with her speech (after Tucker and Ashley finally shut up)? Jack owes Kay big time - it's HER unwavering support that put him back in the CEO's chair ... Tucker thanks everyone who sent flowers to the hospital - but there wasn't any there ... Why wasn't RS invited to cover the launch? .... Note the tacky display in from of Christina (from the Insider) - those cardboard hands look like something Jana would cut out at Tiny Tots .... Initially offering only a 'thank you', the next time the 'shy' Ashley takes the podium, she scolds herself for 'going on and on' ... Should I help him? Vikki bleats to Daddy. Well, duh - didn't the vows include 'in sickness and in health'? Billy has addictions. I don't advise spouses let themselves be dragged down by another's illness (if that spouse doesn't want help)- but Vikki hasn't really tried to help her husband (other than the understandable anger, nagging and guilt trip). She abandoned Billy at the first sign of trouble. Why isn't she trying to get HIM into rehab? Staging an intervention etc. Surely 500 million could by the best help available. After all, where would Nikki be without Victor's intervention and assistance? (of course - after I typed all that out, Vikki made a beeline to the launch - to rally Billy's family. But let's see what Billy's loved ones actually DO about it) ... Not sure about Wisconsin, but 'round here - a bartender who liquors up a patron, then sends him off to drive home drunk, is legally responsible ... Cane's a pretty sloppy bartender. He wasted half the bottle, splashing it all over the bar .. Huh? Jill wouldn't know where to find Billy? He's only ever goes to four places; G-worm, the club, CL's and Jimmy's - CL's is out because it doesn't serve alcohol, and he's rarely at G-worm - soooo, Jill's best bets are the club - and Jimmy's. Failing that, she hasn't even tried dropping by the trailer park ... Does Cane really think any strangers are gonna put their hands up (and admit to doing something stupid to lose their wife and kids?) ... Cane SAYS he's 'manned up' - and learned from his mistakes - YET, he still stands by his belief that he was protecting his wife and kids!? Not once has he admitted that making Lily think she was crazy was unnecessary - just plain wrong (and a stupid idea).
