At CL's, a moody Kevin serves Mike and Lauren (with the news that he and Chloe broke up). Disturbed by the newspaper headlines, the Baldwin's seem to be the only ones concerned about 'a young boy missing his Mom'.
Joining Jack in the living room, Kyle wants to see the newspaper Dad's trying to hide. Moping over front page photos of his dead Mom ('bludgeoned' In the park right across the street, Kyle wants to see her body. Jack won't allow it - but he will take his son to the spot where Diane was killed.
Contemplating for a moment, Nina confronts Ronan at G-worm. What? She can't wish her first born son Happy Birthday? Yes - she IS to pretend he doesn't exist. Nina scolds him for using them - and leaving without explanation. After a 'heartbroken' Nina runs out, Ronan has the courtesy to look guilty.
As Tucker's trying to wrap his head around a business report; the 'voluntary liquidation' of Jabot - to CI, Kay barges in to vow that whatever he and Ashley are trying to pull won't work. Huh? Ashley offered to accept the annulment, Kay explains.
Abby's pleased to be visiting her Mom in her new suite at the club. Yes - she knows Tucker fessed up. Ashley's sorry she didn't believe Abby (and everything that happened as a result). Thank you for finally dumping that dog. It IS over, right? When Ashley hesitates, a frustrated Abby blurts out her theory (that Tucker killed Diane).
Abby makes her case; the Calamine lotion - Tucker itching. It's from poisonous sumac - not carpal tunnel. Perhaps he was still seeing Diane. Not buyin' it, a 'facetitious' Ashley suggests he killed Diane because she had the taped confession. Jumping on that theory, Abby's going to the cops. Oh no you're NOT, Ashley grabs her arm - stay out of it.
Stunning Tucker (with the news that Ashley offered to accept the annulment - if she relinquished control of McCall), Kay suggests she'd leave him - to get Jabot back in Abbott hands. There's this investigation - and Kay knows he's not well yet. She WILL continue to protect Tucker from himself. What the hell does it take to get through to you!? she slams out - leaving a furious Tucker to hurl paperwork across the room.
On the bridge, Jack and Kyle discuss Heaven (where Grandpa, Colleen - and yes, Diane are). Why would someone kill her? Kyle drops a flower from his bouquet into the stream below. That's a good question son.
Paul's at the mausoleum when Nina returns. There to see Kay, Paul wonders why Nina's hasn't returned his calls. Oh - she's been busy. Busy avoiding me? Should we accept that it's 'just not working out'? Paul wonders.
Lauren joins Kevin on the patio - wanna talk about it? About what? Kevin broke up with Chloe (tired of her ranting about 'jerks'). He feels like a 'pit stop' (for women moving onto someone better). Must he always be 'Ducky'?
Inside, Mike offers condolences to Kyle (who's sent off to buy a treat - so that Jack can update that his son has questions). Getting a call from the police, Jack grumbles that they aren't being cooperative (in letting Kyle into Diane's suite - to get his stuff). Agreeing to keep Kyle occupied, Mike's stumped by his question; why did everyone hate my Mom?
Sergeant Morrow joins Ronan at the station - to wish him a Happy birthday - and deny anyone in HER department released crime scene photos (now appearing on the front page of the newspaper he's scowling at). Hmm - we have a leak, Ronan concludes. Abby arrives - to announce that she knows who murdered Diane.
You coulda used your key, Tucker reminds Ashley that they're still married. His carpal tunnel? Uncomfortable. He then wonders why Ashley would offer to accept the annulment.
At G-worm, Kay asks Neil to address the board (in her place). Wanting them to accept the purchase of Jabot, she realizes it' a conflict of interest. The board respects Neil's integrity. When he doubts the board will approve the purchase - at double market value, Kay insists they find a way to change their minds.
On the patio, Lauren gives 'great guy' Kevin a pep talk - he just needs to find the right girl. Kevin hears a 'but' in there.
Inside, Mike assures Kyle that not everyone hated his Mom - like him for instance. She was my friend.
The whiteboard covered, Ronan tells Abby that her suspect; Tucker has an alibi; her mother. He could have snuck out, Abby insists (then tattles about the 'scratching' - from poisonous sumac). Motive? He was sleeping with Diane - and told her mother all about it the night she was killed. How's THAT for motive?
Ashley made the offer to Kay in a bid to protect him and his company. Despite what's going on between them, Ashley's 'nuts/crazy' about Kay trying to take McCall. Tucker has no good reason for lying about Diane - but loves Ashley. Does he have a chance - to prove he's the man she deserves? That they can be a family? Knowing Ashley loves him, is she really willing to let him go?
Back at G-worm, Kay wants the deal expedited - before Tucker realizes she's selling Jabot 'out from under him'. Neil's to wow the board with Jabot's new line. Onboard, Neil will convince the board that they've already won.
Still at the mausoleum, Paul (the only person Ronan trusts) will wrap it up there - and get right on the new lead ~click~ Knowing he was speaking to Ronan, Nina mentions it's his birthday. How can she despise her own child? You don't - you love them no matter what ~hug~ Nina misses - and needs - her best friend. Paul's missed her too ~hug~
Lauren continues to give Kevin dating advice - let them come to you - intrigue her.
Rejoining Mike and Kyle, Jack reports that the police have finally OK'd them accessing Diane's suite. Mike really wants to help with the funeral - please. OK - that'd be great, Jack agrees in parting.
Not willing to let 'this' go, Tucker's never felt like this before - Ashley's 'the one'. Tearing up, Ashley wishes she could forget what happened - and fall back into his arms - but she's scared. Tucker is too. Their kiss is interrupted by a knock at the door. Ronan has questions for Mr McCall.
Wasting no time putting Lauren's advice to good use, Kevin plays hard to get with a flirtatious customer (who'll 'definitely be back') Hmm - maybe Lauren was right, Kevin's mighty please with himself.
On the phone with Jack, Mike reports that he's finalized the funeral arrangements (which Jack appreciates - as it gives him more time to spend with Kyle). Taking the phone, Lauren's staff are waiting for Jack and Kyle. Again, Jack's grateful to the helpful Baldwin's. Mike then explains (to Lauren) that his chat with Kyle motivated him to plan the memorial; no kid should think the world hated his Mom.
Rejoining Kay at G-worm, Neil reports that the board was skeptical - but approved the purchase. It still needs to be ratified - but they can start the paperwork. Wonderful! Kay's delighted that Jabot will belong to CI once again. Tucker be damned.
When Ashley leaves (at Tucker's request), Ronan assumes she doesn't know about his affair with Diane. Nope. And it was a one night thing. Ronan finds it coincidental that Ashley learned of the affair the night she died - then asks about his arm. Search warrant? Ronan has poisonous sumac once - you must be dying to scratch it. No search warrant - get out. Fair enough. Exiting, Ronan suggests Tucker see a doctor (as Calamine lotion doesn't work). As soon as he's alone, Tucker rips off the bandage and frantically scratches like a dog with fleas.
Kay returns home to find Nina in Paul's arms. Yes, he has a lead on Tucker's child - but needs some more funding to follow up. No problem - call Kay's accountant. Anything else? No - not really - Paul's just surprised he's not to turn the info over to Tucker. No - the info's to go to Kay - and only to Kay.
At the station, the 'State Fish and Game' guy reports the theft of the camera in the park to Detective Morrow.
Meanwhile, the stolen camera's hooked up to someone's laptop - and shows a still clip of a woman who appears to be Ashley.
Returning, Ashley catches Tucker scratching his arm. No words exchanged, she helps him wrap it up. You staying? Ashley doesn't think so.
At the bar, Abby's unsettled by a sudden flashback - of her rabidly washing dirt off her hands. Her drink finished, she looks around nervously.
Ronan lets Jack and Kyle to Diane's suite. He's more than welcome to take all the pillows. Jack gives Ronan a puzzled look - when Kyle claims he's never seen them before in his life.
Next: Is this a shakedown - are you looking for a payout? I wanted to ask you out, Deacon corrects Phyllis ... Looking dapper in his suit, Kyle confesses to Jack - when the police were looking for your class ring, I hid it ... The Baldwin's and all those suspected in her death are gathered for Diane's funeral - Detectives Morrow, Malloy and numerous officers hover in the background.
My Thoughts: Good detective work Malloy - if he didn't assume the pillows came with the suite, why didn't he consider them evidence? Didn't he bother to read them? Who buys themselves a pillow that says 'bitch lives here'? ... Nice that the Baldwin's are so concerned about Kyle missing his Mom - but why couldn't they bring their son - what's his name? Oh yeah - Fen - out for breakfast? .... How is it a 'complicated situation'? Tucker lied about his ONS with Diane - and Ashley's unable to forgive him (despite lying repeatedly to HIM; protecting the person who should have been charged for drunk driving and attempted murder). Get over it already .... Why hasn't the DA reconsidered Abby's confession (and charged her for running Tucker over)? Why hasn't Diane being a witness been mentioned during Tucker's questioning? Why is Tucker the only unlucky suspect to have picked up poisonous sumac? And why hasn't the parks n rec guys taken care of the problem? ... Who knew Town Park was 'right across the road' from the Abbott mansion? ... Come on now Abby, there's other reasons Tucker could have carpal tunnel syndrome - with Ashley gone, he is .. um... master of his own domain now ... A 'leak'? Anyone walking into the station is able to view all the evidence displayed on the whiteboard ... Calamine Lotion will be very pleased that hear that their product's been given such a poor review by Detective Malloy ... Is 'more funding' a problem? What a ridiculous question Paul asks of his billionaire client. Kay doesn't even question WHY he needs additional funding. Like, where's he going? Is Paul that broke that he can't have Kay reimburse him once he solves the case?
