Paul brings Heather flowers - for her new office. Too bad she's only been assigned a 'cubicle'. A probationary employee, Heather must work her way up from the bottom - again *sigh* Her first assignment is Sharon's retrial - as an assistant to HER former assistant. On cue, Walsh joins them to report that the assistant's wife has had a heart attack - which bumps Heather up to 'second chair'. Exiting the DA's office, Heather thinks this a great opportunity (to prove rehiring her wasn't a mistake).
At CL's, Eden's not exactly employee of the month. But - Kevin tells Mike that she's kinda HIS sister too. Hiring Eden is nothing compared to all Mike's done for him.
Hi Phyllis - it's been a long time. Avery assures that her being in town has nothing to do with Phyllis (which she has a hard time believing). Lingering on the staircase, Adam listens with interest.
Back at G-worm, Jill scoffs (upon hearing that Collin 'took the liberty' of ordering them lunch; including her favourite dessert; Baked Alaska). He must be confusing Jill with his wife - cause that's not HER favourite. Collin could NEVER confuse Jill with his soon to be ex. Feeling 'the pull', Collin can see that Jill's 'hot and bothered'. And as Jill can only gape, Collin wonders where the food is. Getting divorced sure works up the appetite.
Jack and Genevieve kiss their way into the bedroom, Jack frantically shedding his jacket as they hit the bed.
At RS, Nick's expecting the lab results within a coupla hours. Hopefully, whomever sent Ashley the photo was sloppy enough to lick the envelope. We gotta stay one step ahead of Ronan, he tells Ashley. When Mike arrives, Nick updates that he and Ashley were in the park - someone knows it and is blackmailing them. Ashley chimes in to fret that Malloy knows (and considers them suspects). Wanting to hear EVERYTHING, Mike warns that secrets have a way of coming out.
No, Jill's NOT glad that the grinning Collin 'talked her into this' - now, eat fast! The domed plates may be Jill's favourite - but this isn't gonna work. It's working already, Collin admits he's made a 'few mistakes' - but - hasn't Jill ever been changed by love? Yes - but NOT for the better, she scowls.
Jack and Genevieve cuddle naked in bed. So, any regrets? Yes - Genevieve wishes they'd done this sooner ~kiss~
Legal pad in front of him, Mike's told there've been no extortion demands. Adam? Possible - but they need proof. Luckily, Mike has a contact at Nick's cell phone provider. Determining where the calls are coming from may provide a hint. Whomever's making the calls has leverage over both Nick and Ashley (who are encouraged to go to the police).
Avery prefers not to have this conversation in the hallway. Phyllis prefers not to have it at all. And as they enter Avery's suite, Adam (ear to the door) is frustrated that he can't hear anything. Inside, Avery thought Phyllis would be happy to see her sister - after all these years.
Now dressed and downstairs, Jack enjoyed 'it' a lot. It doesn't have to be awkward. Two consenting adults having a bit of fun, Genevieve agrees - then picks up a shattered vase (which she must have put it too close to the edge). When Jack offers to buy lunch, Genevieve thinks G-worm sounds just 'perfect'.
Over dessert, Collin reminisces about their romp behind Lauren's desk. Unimpressed, Jill was NOT smiling - and would love to slap Collin. Alright, Collin will 'stop it' - when Jill starts telling the truth. OK - truth is, the humiliated and hurt Jill wishes she could hate Collin (who wonders how Jill DOES feel about him then).
Back at RS, Mike's heard the recorded message (which make it obvious that Nick ran into Diane). Yeah, but neither he nor Ashley killed her. They don't want Malloy to know about the voicemail or the photos. Getting a call, Mike updates that the calls Nick's been receiving are pinging off cell towers all over town; impossible to narrow down. Well, when the test results come in, Nick will know whether Adam's behind it.
In his suite, Adam gets a call - yes, I know who you are - just didn't know you were involved. Yes, I know exactly what I have to do ~click~ He then calls to book a flight out of GC - today.
Avery didn't come to reconnect with Phyllis - she's there to do a job. Having kept track of Phyllis, she knew she lived in GC. Where'd 'Clark' come from? Avery was briefly married. Listing Phyllis' married names - Avery wonders if she took them because she's ashamed of her family? And when Phyllis wonders where her hotshot attorney sister was when SHE was in jail? Avery reminds that she only represents the INNOCENT!
OMG - the two of you?! How could Jack get involved with this lunatic? Pausing at Jill and Collin's table, Jack points out that he didn't trash Collin (when they talked earlier) and would like the same courtesy. No we were NOT 'just leaving' - Jill won't give her her favourite restaurant because of 'that'. Neither is Genevieve (who leads Jack to a nearby table).
At CL's, Eden and Kevin welcome Heather and Paul. Now that Heather's back (but no longer with 'the firm'), Eden assumes she'll want her apartment back. Take your time, Heather tells Kevin he can do better than Chloe; a total flake. Taking a seat, Paul and Heather discuss how busy they'll be (between Sharon's trial - Diane's murder investigation). Paul barely had time to talk to Ricky on the phone. Having known Diane a long time (as she was once married to his old partner), Paul really wants to catch her killer. Heather admits 'dreading' going up against the 'ferocious' Avery (who NEVER loses a case).
Avery doesn't remember Phyllis being so defensive. Phyllis doesn't remember Avery being so judgmental. In fact, she doesn't remember a lot of things about 'that place' (thank God). She hasn't talked to Darian, George or Lydia in years. Good for ME. YOU'RE the one, I wanted to be close to, Avery expresses how much she missed the big sister she idolized (who never called or wrote). Both in tears, Phyllis couldn't stay there - you understand that don't you? We've both done really well - we don't have to look back. Nobody owes anyone anything.
As Adam packs a bag, Nick comes banging at the door - then barges in. In the hallway, Avery pursues Phyllis (who's 'still running'). No one has to know about this, Phyllis scurries off (leaving Avery to look very sad).
At CL's with Ashley, Mike hears all about Heather getting her old job back with the DA. He's disappointed they'll be on opposite sides - but only in the courtroom. After Paul and Heather head back to work, Mike vows to get to the bottom of these strange incidents (which Ashley greatly appreciates). When Eden comes along, Mike invites her to move back in with them. Thanks - but she'll find something. Next, Phyllis arrives. Clearly troubled, she eyes Mike - then briskly clip clops to the patio (leaving Mike to look puzzled and concerned).
In her suite, Avery makes a call (re: Sharon's trial). She'll be at the GCAC's bar for the next hour - swing by if you can. Pulling out her compact, she takes a deep breath, dabs at her tears - and regroups.
Nick knows what Adam's up to - and will soon have proof - to help the police prove he killed Diane. Unconcerned, Adam shows Nick the door - then after zipping up his bag, gets a bad news call; whaddaya mean you can't issue me a ticket!? I HAVE to be on that flight!
At their cozy table, Jack and Genevieve's kissing is interrupted when two glasses of champagne arrive (courtesy of Jill and Collin, who both give a little wave). Soon, it's Jack and Genevieve waving - when Jill and Collin are served a bottle. Next, desserts are sent back and forth (a smiling Genevieve blows a kiss - to a scowling Jill).
What the hell are you doing to me!? Adam barges in on Heather and the DA (who've put him on the 'no fly' list). Sure, he's a witness for Sharon's trial - and a person of interest in Diane's murder - but Adam's been accepted into a clinical trial that might be his only chance to improve his eyesight. He's got a cab waiting to take him to the airport. Since Heather knows Adam better than he does, Walsh leaves the decision up to her.
FYI - Mike never stopped 'caring' (and that's why he's joined Phyllis on the patio). Phyllis isn't 'in trouble' - she's afraid. Her past has come back to haunt her.
Apparently, Nick's the person Avery summoned to the club. It's important that we talk, she says when he joins her table.
Sharing numerous kisses with Genevieve, Jack knows she's putting on a show. He's OK with it - but one day, it won't BE about Collin ~kiss~ OK - that's it! Jill stands Collin up for a passionate kiss (which devastates Genevieve). It didn't mean a thing, Jill tries to assure Collin (who's not convinced). Watching Jill leave, Genevieve gives Jack a puzzled shrug. Also leaving, Collin instructs the waiter to send one more thing over to Mr Abbott's table; his bill.
Is Kevin overworking Eden? No - being homeless is freaking her out. Moving in with Mike will make her feel like she's 15 again. Perhaps she can move into Kevin's big ole place. Oh come ON - it'll be fun, Eden persists.
Swearing Mike to secrecy, Phyllis confides that she has a sister - and she's here in GC.
Before Avery can get anywhere with Nick, he spots Ashley (and abruptly excuses himself to join her). There's no new news - until the lab calls. Hanging up, Nick reports there were no fingerprints. The DNA showed the same chromosome markers as him. It MUST be Adam!
Hanging up, Heather confirms that Adam's been admitted to a clinical trial - let him go. Thanking Heather, Adam leaves - and heaves a sigh of relief on the other side of the door.
Next: Lily kisses Daniel - but her eyes then follow his - to where Cane stands - with Abby .... Phyllis is my sister, Avery admits to Sharon (who's not sure she can trust her now) ... Don't tell me that guilt doesn't gnaw at you, Mike says. It doesn't, Phyllis assures.
My Thoughts: Collin really thinks that using Jill to kidnap her grandchildren counts as 'a few mistakes'? ... How interesting; it seems Phyllis (and Avery) were raised in an abusive home (which would explain (though not forgive) a lot about the person she is) .. Heather has a 'cubicle'? The courthouse has a call center set up? .... How was Heather able to sublet an apartment she stayed in for free (as funded by the DA's office - as funded by GC's taxpayers) ... If Heather's 'starting at the bottom again', why did she leapfrog over other lawyers - to be 'second chair' in such a prominent trial? .. Avery thought there was a 'possibility' (that she might run into Phyllis)? All her research - and she wasn't aware of the connection between her sister and her client? She never read a copy of RS? ... The scenes between Jack/Genevieve and Jill/Collin provided some much needed comic relief. But can one patron really waltz out - having their bill sent to another diner? ... Ironic that G-worm is Jill's favourite restaurant - considering how she feels about Gloria and Jeff Bardwell (who're barely there anymore anyway) ... Note to Jill; having champagne and lunch with a man - kissing him passionately in the middle of a restaurant, is hardly the best way to convince a man that you have absolutely no interest in him ... Poor Kevin - he just keeps getting one roommate after another dumped on him. Perhaps he should move to a one bedroom apartment - or learn how to say 'no' ... Yes Mike - secrets DO have a habit oc coming out - so maybe if you're gonna disrespect your wife (by cozying up to Phyllis again) you shouldn't add insult to injury by doing it at the local coffee shop.
