At G-worm, a mopey Cane puts his divorce papers away. Abby wanders in. No - she hasn't talked to Daniel (guessing Cane's wondering if he's still seeing Lily).
At his easel, Daniel's distracted by flashbacks on bedding Lily (who then drops by to apologize for having to rush home last night - after ....). But no, she doesn't feel that 'hooking up' was a mistake - at all.
Ending a call with Nikki, a 'scattered' Vikki's surprised when Sam comes for the key (to the garage apartment). He then opens the cardboard box Vikki's been struggling to open. Oh no! she pouts (apparently dissatisfied with it's contents).
Avery's not visiting Sharon about the trial - she's there to discuss Phyllis Newman.
You have a sister - in town? Mike's further shocked to hear it's Avery Bailey Clark. All these years - you never even MENTIONED a sister! Mike's astounded.
Nick and Ashley talk discreetly at the club's bar. It's definitely Adam's DNA on the envelope. He likely found Ashley's phone - heard Nick's message - and is the one calling (knowing they were both at the park that night). It's not like Adam to be so careless. Perhaps it's a trap.
The debate continues: Adam must have a bigger plan in mind (since he didn't give the evidence to the DA - making THEM the prime suspects, instead of him). Maybe Adam doesn't want to the cops to know he was in the park too. Then why not send it anonymously? Adam MUST have an agenda they know nothing about.
Back on the patio, an emotional Phyllis reveals that her upbringing was 'bad'. Her parents weren't abusive (like Kevin's Dad) - not physically. But Phyllis had to get out and never look back. I want to forget, she weeps. She doesn't HAVE to deal with these emotions. Phyllis is fine - and so is Avery. No guilt about leaving your sister? Who's Mike to judge? The very last person - he left his baby brother to be beaten. Phyllis can't imagine the guilt - or maybe she can. Don't tell me the guilt doesn't gnaw at you. It doesn't, Phyllis insists. Mike hopes she repairs this relationship. Avery doesn't seem the type to be 'understanding'.
Meanwhile, at the pen, Avery assures that what she's about to say won't effect how she handles Sharon's legal proceedings. Phyllis is my sister. What! Sharon doesn't know what to say (except that she's not sure she can trust Avery now). Maybe you should go.
Abby blames Cane for her and Daniel's break up. The whole ghost thing messed Lily up so bad - all that was missing was the pottery wheel. She needed a big strong shoulder to lean on. And now, Abby will never get Daniel back. Half smirk still on his face, Cane's sorry - guess you can't always get what you want. You should know, Abby snaps back.
Lily still thinks they should take things slow - but yes, making love was beautiful and memorable - no regrets. Lily doesn't want her 'old stuff' to get in the way of 'this'. She's not running. Not even to camp on the Malibu beach? Daniel refers to 'good times'. In order to resist jumping into bed, the pair decide to take a walk. Oh how happy Lily's made Daniel. Likewise.
Oh great - the bike Vikki ordered didn't come assembled. She planned to show it to Reed during their video chat. Insisting t's the least he can do, Sam's soon at work. He chats about Victor's beautiful horses (and air conditioned barn). He misses New Mexico - but can't abandon his friend Sharon. Hearing a bit about about how he found Sharon sleeping in his barn, Vikki thinks him supportive - but wonders how he can forgive Sharon's secrecy.
Avery explains she hasn't talked to Phyllis since she was a kid. Why doesn't matter. She goes on to say she didn't know about the extent of their connection until she read the trail transcripts. No, she didn't know what Phyllis had 'put her through' (with Nick). Sharon doesn't believe that Avery only came to GC for her appeal (nothing to do with Phyllis).
Back on the patio, a less emotional Phyllis isn't looking for (or interested in) Mike's advice. And when will she see Avery again? NEVER!
At G-worm, Daniel has many ideas for a fun evening; from a moonlight swim - gluing dollar bills to the floor - to polka in the park. Yes - polka. Anything for Lily (who rewards him with a kiss). How about awkward silence? Cause that's exactly what happens when Lily and Daniel lock stares with Abby and Cane.
Borrowing (stealing) a key from the housekeeper, Nick and a nervous Ashley search Adam's suite (for anything that'll link him to Diane's murder). Knowing they won't find anything, Nick suggests they jump the bastard. Yeah well, it won't be today - Ashley comes across a paper that indicates Adam's not even in GC.
When Avery offers to let the Judge know that she needs another lawyer, Sharon backpeddals - but guessing Avery wants closure with Phyllis, wishes she'd been about this upfront. Bottom line - Sharon'd be a fool to discard the brilliant lawyer who got her the impossible; a new trial. And to ensure 'no more surprises', Sharon wants to know why Avery and Phyllis have been out of touch for so long. Phyllis' testimony is crucial to her case after all. Claiming it's 'not pertinent', Avery assures that winning Sharon's case is her ONLY concern.
Assuring Mike that she and Avery don't need to see one another again, Phyllis then gets an alarming text message. Are you kidding me!? she scowls unhappily at her phone.
The bike now assembled, a grateful Vikki didn't mean to pry about Sharon. She just doesn't find it as easy to forgive and forget. And as Sam cleans up, Vikki enjoys her chat with Reed (who's having fun - teaching his baby brother how to swim). Wheeling the bike in front of the laptop, Vikki admits she didn't exactly put it together herself. Is Billy back!? Reed chirps.
Pretending to be Adam's assistant, Nick's on the phone - confirming his appointment for tomorrow. Unconvinced, Ashley wouldn't put it past Adam (to use eye surgery as a 'smoke screen' - not after what he did to HER). There's one person who's an expert on Adam. Maybe Sharon will help them figure out what he's up to, Nick suggests.
Avery's glad Sharon isn't letting Phyllis get in the way (assuming she'd like to keep their connection private). Since she's a witness, Sharon doubts that possible. Good point, Avery concedes.
Phyllis has been summoned as a last minute witness to a deposition for Sharon. Her sister's on a power trip - but doesn't know who she's dealing with, does she? Mike knows that Avery's tenacious (a trait she and Phyllis share). When Mike offers to 'come with', Phyllis can't imagine anyone else she'd rather have at her side. Mike wouldn't want her to be 'beat up' by her little sister.
Didn't take you long to get over the love of your life, Abby sneers at Lily, then marches off. And when Daniel catches up to her, Abby doesn't care that they've been split up for a while - she doesn't wanna see Daniel with anyone (especially HER). As Daniel continues to chase after Abby, Lily asks Cane why he hasn't returned the divorce papers. Cane just can't bring himself to sign them.
Cane doesn't want to cause Lily any more pain - but his heart just won't let him sign the papers. But doesn't he see that he's causing Lily more pain (by not allowing her to 'move on')? She's getting a divorce whether he cooperates or not. And as Daniel returns (to stand behind Lily, arms folded), she assures Cane that she's moved on.
No - Billy's not back - a friend helped her. Reed? You there? There's a problem with the camera, Reed goes to get JT to help him. Taking the garbage out, Sam doesn't think Vikki's a big mess at all. He sees a good mother - a woman who misses someone (which he can understand).
Surprised to get her second visit from Nick (in one day), Sharon thanks him for bringing Faith. Nick needs a favour - about Adam - but realizes he's being selfish (as Sharon's got enough to deal with). Avery's an excellent lawyer, he comments. She's a lot more than that, Sharon replies.
At the courthouse, Mike and Avery acknowledge one another's reputations. Asking to speak to Avery aside, Phyllis wonders what this is about. Sharon's trial of course. Avery's all business. For the record, are you my sister? When was the last time you saw me? Phyllis confirms they've had no contact (nor has she had any contact with their parents) in many years. Uncomfortable, Phyllis also confirms that her testimony won't be influenced or prejudiced (by their bond).
Back at Vikki's, Sam again thanks her (who, in turn, thanks him for help with the bike).
Don't make this harder than it has to be, Lily asks Cane to sign the papers - please. You OK? Daniel asks. Yes - let's go. The pair then leave Cane to mope.
At the club's bar, 'basket case' Ashley leaves Nick a message - wanting to know what happened with Sharon. Abby appears in need of a drink. Life's kicking her butt (she relays her run in with Daniel and Lily). She misses him (and is worried about her confession tape - that's floating around somewhere). It sucks not being able to control things (which Ashley can certainly relate to).
Avery leads Phyllis (in her testimony about the memory card; which went from Emmett to Adam). Phyllis herself, has no direct knowledge that could help Sharon. Mike hisses (are you going to sacrifice Sharon to get back at Avery?). What was that? Avery barks. Nothing. I have nothing more to say to you, Phyllis glowers.
Meanwhile, Sharon tells Nick that Avery is her only hope. If she has any shot at all, it's ONLY because of Avery.
Next: Tucker plays hardball with Deacon; I'm not in the business of keeping people employed out of charity. Devon's only Tucker to give him a shot .. Come work for me, Jack invites Genevieve. Kay just told him to start thinking outside the box ... I need a spy - that's you, Kay tells Jill.
My Thoughts: Why would PHYLLIS feel the need to 'get back' at AVERY? Isn't SHE the big sister who left her LITTLE sister in an abusive home? ... SOME days 'get low in here'? You'd think EVERY day would be 'low' (when wrongfully imprisoned in the State pen) ... Cane really thinks he and Lily can 'work this out'? What on earth leads him to believe that? Doesn't he see Daniel standing there - all territorial with his arms folded? He may be addicted to online porn - but at least he didn't intentionally try to drive her crazy .... I'm not sure which one of Lily's men is sporting the worst hair do; Cane's Elvis pompadour - or Daniel's Samaria ponytail ... Vikki was really stumped on how to open that perplexing cardboard box? And was the bike 'supposed to come put together'? Or did Vikki fail to notice the 'some assembly required' fine print? Why would someone who just got 500 million buy a bike online? Couldn't she go to the local bike store? Pay extra to get one pre-assembled? ... Sharon's really gonna turn her nose up at the lawyer who's been able to get her a new trial? Shouldn't Victor be notified that he's hired his former daughter in law's sister? .... ... If Nick's so certain they won't find anything in Adam's suite, why take the risk of breaking and entering? ... I'm surprised Daniel would cough up a dollar to glue to the floor. He'd likely have to borrow it from Lily ... It shouldn't have take Mike that long to figure out that Avery is Phyllis' sister - it's not exactly a common name ... Why would Adam subject himself to 'eye surgery'? His eyesight seems to be just fine ... Isn't it a bit late for Lily and Daniel to 'take it slow'? They've already had sex (did they 'hook up' or 'make love'?) ... How could Avery have read Phyllis' blogs - but not know how 'intertwined' Sharon and Phyllis were (or know how of their relationship with Nick)?? ... When will the club's housekeeping staff ever learn to keep a more careful eye on their room keys? ... How can Reed even see his 'awesome' new bike? Only the handlebars would be shown in the videocam ... How on earth could SHARON help Nick and Ashley figure out what's going on in Adam's 'perverse' head? She'd already said 'I do' before realizing that Adam had no intention of marrying her.
