Both done their 'breaks', Jill boasts that her first day was 'extremely fulfilling'. And when Jack comes to ensure they're 'playing nice in the sandbox' - and ready to 'get down to business', Jill quips 'some of us already have' (puzzling both Jack and Genevieve).
Having sought Heather out (at G-worm), a contrite Nina takes a seat. What's this about? Heather is less than friendly. Ronan, Nina replies.
At the seedy motel, Chloe and Ronan are clearly pleased to see one another (judging my their smiles, kissing - and neither minding when the towel drops to the floor).
Getting a call from Neil, Devon agrees to meet (to discuss Lily). Knocking on Tucker's door, Devon's told he was given 24 hours (to find Noah's replacement) - it's been 27 - and a half. Inviting him in, Tucker wonders who's their next 'break out artist'.
After Ester and Delia head off to the zoo, Paul tells Kay that he does indeed know the identity of Tucker's son - and believe it or not, so does she. It's Devon Hamilton - Neil's adoptive son is her grandson.
Back at the office, Jack wants great ideas for the holiday season. Continuing to needle one another re: their skills, Jack tells Genevieve and Jill that it's him (not Kay) they'll have to 'wow'. Finding the office 'cramped', Jill decides to work the rest of the day from home. Have a lovely day - she knows SHE will.
None of the 'monster talents' Devon talked to were able to put together a demo on such short notice. He then pitches his l'il sister Anna (but she needs to focus on school right now). Tucker's not interested in 'future' talent - Devon didn't meet his deadline.
Devon is Tucker's son - my grandson. Pretty amazing huh. Kay knows what that poor kid endured - before Dru and Neil took him in. Incredible. Paul then explains that Aunt Virginia knew Devon's father as 'Mick' (Tucker's nickname). Devon's been living here all this time. Tucker has no clue he's been working with his own son, Kay marvels.
Rolling off Chloe, Ronan jokes that she attacked him. Who answers the door with no clothes on? A guy who just got out of the shower. Before long 'love em and leave em' Ronan is ready for round two ~kiss~
Meanwhile, at G-worm, Nina whines about Ronan's refusal to explain himself (hoping Heather can get answers out of him). Chloe? No - Heather's the only one Ronan cared about. When Heather's not sure she can help, Nina apologizes for lashing out at her (when Chance left). Heather understands - but still has no desire to talk to Ronan.
Tucker pressures Devon to admit he missed his deadline (which he refuses to extend). He's all about the money - and needs strong people to deliver. Doubting Devon 'got tough' with Noah, Tucker thinks him a 'nice young man' - but you're out.
Paul doesn't think this secret should be kept from father and son. Yes - but Tucker had 20+ years to find him. Surely he'd have done so. Wanting it handled delicately, Kay asks Paul to keep it to himself. Don't let your issues with Tucker cloud your thinking, Paul advises - before being asked to show himself out. Kay then gets a call from Neil - who needs to reschedule their meeting (because Devon's upset about Tucker firing him). Kay has something to do too - it really can't wait.
Impressing Jack with her marketing ideas, Genevieve spots Collin's cufflink on the floor - why is it here? And why is the stuff on her desk moved? OMG - don't tell me - please don't tell me. It wouldn't be the first time Jill mistook her office for a boudoir, Jack assures Jill won't be 'smug' for much longer. Once Kay sells Jabot to him, Jill's out. The office and title will be all Genevieve's.
Returning home, Jill finds Ester taking care of a sick Delia. I want my Mommy, she bleats. Ester will call Chloe again. Mommy will be home really soon, both reassure the sick child.
Cuddling naked in bed, Chloe runs her hand over Ronan's scar. Declining a drink, what she'd really like is to know why he left - without saying good bye to anyone.
Heather DID try - but got nowhere (with Ronan). He may not have it in him (to be the man they want him to be). Nina agrees - but it's hard to hear. When Paul arrives, Heather gets back to work - leaving Nina to mope that she's heartbroken (that she may never have a relationship with her son).
At CL's, Devon and Neil discuss Tucker (a Jekyll and Hyde - sometimes a great guy - sometime's not). Devon knows the entertainment business is tough - and sure got a taste of that today.
Kay's at Tucker's - hoping they can get past their hostility - and salvage their relationship. Forgive me, Tucker responds - but I don't believe a word that comes out of your mouth.
We're mother and son, Kay implores - can't we find a middle ground? Tucker's heard her song and dance before - nothing will ever change. Kay may be trying to 'make peace' - but she can smoke her pipe elsewhere. That your final word? Tucker opens the door in response (but looks devastated when Kay wordlessly exits through it).
Neil thinks he's being supportive - but Devon perceives the opposite (when Neil suggests plan B; business - a solid, stable career). Devon can't believe Neil's telling him to give up on his life's dream. To hell with that! he storms out.
Ester and Jill continue to hover over Delia (who's temperature now reads almost 105 degrees). Worried, Jill leaves a message for Chloe - where the hell are you? Delia's sick - call me right away.
Still in Ronan's bed, naked, Chloe continues to badger Ronan. Standing, his pants now on, Ronan agrees to explain why he left - after she gets dressed.
Both dressed, Ronan claims he HAD to take off - because of the FBI. Not satisfied (with more than what Ronan SHOULD have told her), Chloe believes he left because he got too close to her and Chance (then huffs out to buy Delia her promised ice cream).
Paul holding her hand across the table, Nina regrets her harsh words to Ronan (the child she dreamed of meeting). Coming to sit beside her, Paul encourages Nina not to give up - keep trying (for closure if nothing else).
While Tucker gets a visit from Neil (who needs to talk about his son), Kay's summoned Devon to the GCAC (to discuss something very important)
At G-worm, Paul leaves a message for Kay (hoping she considers his advice - keeping this secret will only make things worse for everyone).
Tucker's not running a 'training program'. Devon failed his 'reasonable' request. A day to do the impossible? Neil balks. Scoffing at what Neil's done for Devon (education - the gift of recording time), Tucker thinks he could have done a lot more to support Devon's dream. And as he's not Devon's 'Daddy', it's not Tucker's job to hold his hand.
Over coffee, Kay's glad she heard that Tucker fired Devon (as she's been thinking of starting a record label). Yes, she's offering him a job - as head of the label. Barely able to contain his excitement, Devon is indeed 'interested'. Effective immediately, he's in charge of whatever Kay decides to name the venture; something hip and fun. Why me? the 'inexperienced' Devon has to ask. Listing the successful GC residents who've overcome adversity, Kay's watched Devon struggle and survive - to grow into a man she's looking forward to working with.
Vigorously disinfecting her desk, Genevieve's impressed with Jack's plan to buy BofN; a merge that will put him in charge of the biggest cosmetics company in the world. Wow - Genevieve's excited to be along for the ride. It'll be one hell of a ride alright, Jack promises.
Bumping into one another at CL's, Ronan gets a dose of attitude from the snotty Heather (who plans to stay as far away from him as she possibly can).
Arriving home, Chloe's updated by Nina. Jill and Ester took Delia to the hospital - go now! OMG, Chloe runs out.
Next: Your career would be very short lived - second time around, Victor tells Heather (who doesn't look too happy) ... Are you interested in Chloe? Nina asks Ronan (who doesn't see how that's any of her business). OMG - you ARE, Nina unhappily concludes .. In tears (in a hospital room) Chloe sobs to Ester and Jill - I've forgiven Billy for so many things - but not for abandoning our daughter.
My Thoughts: Understatement of the day goes to Kay (we're not a picture perfect family). Ya think? .... How on earth does Jack plan to buy Beauty of Nature? It's a Newman company - being run by Vikki Newman. There's no way in hell she and Victor are ever gonna hand it over to an Abbott (least of all Jack) ... Jack's really impressed - with Genevieve's bright idea to pair 'sexy crimson red' lipstick with a little black dress? It's neither innovative or 'naughty' .... Odd that the marketing office is on the ground floor (judging by the view from the window) You'd think it'd be on the top floor - with the rest of the executive offices. I guess Jill wasn't concerned about anyone peeking through the windows .... Nina has a lot of nerve asking Heather to do her a 'favour' (considering how viciously she blamed her for Chance leaving). She was 'kind enough to listen'? (like Heather had a choice) ... Ronan's scar sure healed quickly. It's anatomically correct - but pretty invisible after only a few months. .. Yet another day without mention of the investigation into Diane's murder (and another day of Kyle grieving alone - while his Dad's at work) ... Tucker working with his own son 'all this time' is not only 'incredible' - it's completely unbelievable. Really - what ARE the odds? Kay raises a good point. How is it that her small-town PI could so easily find Devon - when, in 20+ years, the equally wealthy Tucker wasn't able to accomplish it. If you want my opinion, Paul says (then carries on like Kay asked for it). Aren't ALL Paul's clients 'more than a client' to him? All of his cases revolve around family or friends .. Kay wants to 'salvage' her relationship with Tucker? I wasn't aware they ever had one to salvage ... LOL @ Delia - refusing to give 'Mrs C' a kiss (despite Ester all but shoving her against Kay's offered cheek). I'm not even sure if it's a new Delia - or old Delia with her hair curled (it's been so long since we've seen her) .. Shouldn't Ester have dampened the facecloth on Delia's forehead? I doubt it'll do anything for her bone dry .... Jill 'saw' Delia's temperature? I can't see a digital read-out 5 inches from my face - let alone from 5 feet away. You'd think the first thing Jill would do when she got home is take a long, hot bubble bath ... Nina sends Chloe off to the hospital (where her only child's just been taken) and doesn't think to offer her a ride - or arrange for a driver to take her? Isn't she worried that a distraught Chloe might have an accident en route? Knowing she has a child at home (who's recently been sick) you'd think Chloe would be more diligent about checking her phone for messages ... Does Kay (or Devon for that matter) have any idea how complex (and time consuming) starting up a record label would be? I'm guesstimating it'd take at least a year to get this as yet even unnamed whim of a project off the ground.
