Tucker's still not able to reach Devon. Yeah - he DOES have a lot to process - not every day you meet the bastard who abandoned you. Ashley's supportive - so what if Kay found him - it's not nice that she kept it a secret. Kid has a lousy father - even lousier grandmother, Tucker mopes.
At CL's, Eden leaves a message for Daniel - you won't believe what I read online about Devon! At a nearby table, Malcolm and Cane come over to read the RS site. Phyllis, Malcolm grumbles.
Nick's not impressed that Phyllis 'just posted' story already has 450 hits - or that she broke a friend's confidence - or that the 'huge story' is more important to her than Devon. We're trying to run a magazine, Phyllis reminds. This is about you and me - and you know it, Nick scowls.
OMG! Devon! Yolanda/Harmony asks her boss, Bud, for a few days off - her son needs her.
At Lily's, Neil's the voice of reason (while Devon insists that THEY'RE his family; not Tucker - not Kay). Answering Kay's call, Devon needs to see her too. 'I'll be right over'.
After Malcolm sprints out of CL's, Daniel arrives. And as he reads the story (on Eden's laptop), Cane asks for his help with Lily (and gets a humourless chuckle)
After Lily leaves to pick up the twins, Devon declines Neil's offer to go with him - so, is warned to tread carefully (as Kay just had a stroke). That leaves Sophia to defend supporting her boss and friend (against Kay). You don't know him like I do - maybe she can help Devon get to know Tucker. No way, Neil replies.
Back at RS, Nick reminds that he specifically telling Phyllis NOT to run the story. Phyllis denies she's looking for a fight (and sabotaging their relationship because she's afraid to be happy). And no - it has nothing to do with Avery. Well, Nick's leaving her to play this 'game' (and get 'slammed') alone - he's off to the gym.
Mom strikes again, Daniel huffs (and agrees it'll get ugly fast - and that he should be the one to check on Lily (whom Cane worries will be hounded by the press). No thanks needed - he's doing it for LILY (whom he promptly calls to arrange a meeting - now - it's important).
At Memorial, Abby gives Devon an update on Kay; a seriously tough lady (assuming Devon's worrying about her). Your grandma?! Abby's stunned to hear the whole story - and hearing that Tucker's his father, marches out with purpose.
At the diner, Yolanda again pesters her boss for some time off - explaining she hasn't seen her two kids in a while (and needs to explain something to her son). She must go NOW. Bud refuses to give her time off - leave and she's fired.
Devon pauses outside Kay's door - flashing back to Tucker warning him about her. Kay thanks him for coming - there's so much to talk about. Devon has only one thing to say - how could you do it?
At the club with Avery, Ricky has all the dirt on the witnesses on the DA's jury list. He's eager to leave (and meet some people at CL's). Avery's opposed - but changes her mind in a hurry when Nick comes along. And as he takes Ricky's vacated seat, Avery can tells he's just 'gone a few rounds' - and can guess who with.
How could you do this? Throw my family's business into the streets! Phyllis is not trying to hurt Malcolm. No - nobody ever is - not you - not Neil. Never mind that - neither Devon, nor Neil deserved this.
Back at Lily's, Sophia just wants to help. Help Tucker, Neil scowls - the selfish jerk. Look what he did to his own mother. Blood doesn't make someone a father. Oh? Is that how Neil will feel if she and Malcolm raise HIS baby? Only caring how Devon feels, Neil goes to the nursery for his phone. Suddenly in pain, Sophia sinks onto the sofa, gasping and clutching her stomach.
Is Kay 'sorry' because Devon found out - or because she lost the upper hand? She didn't believe in his talent - she used him (to get back at her own son). Kay admits the music label wasn't a coincidence - but she only trying to protect Devon (from being hurt by the ruthless and unforgiving father who didn't even look for him). Yeah, well KAY hurt him - which doesn't feel a whole lot better to Devon.
Not finding his phone, Neil leaves Sophia (who's feeling better) to make a few phone calls. He apologizes for sounding harsh - but don't say anything to Tucker. But as soon as Neil leaves, Sophia's pain returns - and she calls Malcolm - please come - I need you!
At CL's, Daniel tells Lily that Cane asked him to call her. After all the crap she's been through, Lily can take care of herself (and Cane should know that). Off to confront a 'certain journalist', Daniel points out that Cane COULDA used this to get closer to Lily - but didn't. Just sayin .... Lily's given even more food for thought, when Eden then comes over to say that Cane's crazy about her.
You should have told me the truth, Devon's learned something. He used to think he had street smarts, book smarts - no one could screw him over. And as Cane peeks his head in the door, Kay asks how she can make this right. Apologize to Neil (Devon's Dad). As for Devon, he doesn't want anything from Mrs Chancellor. After Devon exits, Cane joins a weepy Kay - to see if there's anything he can do to help. Weeping, Kay doesn't think anyone can help.
He'll call, Ashley's sure that Devon won't be able to help liking, then loving Tucker (once he gets to know him). You'll be a great Dad. The McCall's 'I love you's' and kiss in interrupted by an angry rap at the door. Abby barges past Ashley to confront Tucker - you pathetic excuse for a Dad - what he's done to Devon makes her SICK!
25,000 hits within a a coupla hours - this story's on fire! Daniel catches Phyllis boasting - was it worth it? What you did to Malcolm? The Winters? Phyllis sees nothing wrong - she told the truth - and is doing her job. Daniel's lecture encompasses everything - Lucy, Sharon, Nick. He hopes she's happy. Without further word, Phyllis grabs her stuff and clip clops out.
Back at the club, Nick will talk about anything other than Phyllis. Sports covered, they move onto Sharon's case. About to show Nick something, the clumsy Avery manages to spill not one, but TWO glasses of water all over him (much to his amusement - and her embarrassment).
Reporting that Devon's a 'mess', Abby continues to lash out at Tucker (for getting rich - and laid - leaving his son with a drug addict to live like a rock star). Tucker's even more disgusting that Abby imagined - and she will NEVER accept him into her life - or her Mom's!
Thanks for coming so fast, Sophia pants that it has nothing to do with Neil - she's having regular contractions. Tell JR it's 'too soon'. Sophia wishes she'd been honest - and desperately wants this baby to be Malcolm's. If so, he'll be there for him. Will you be there for him - and me, now? Sophia implores - then waddles off to the hospital behind Malcolm.
Kay's so glad to see Neil - until he wordlessly hands over an envelope. What's this? she croaks (like she doesn't know).
Entering the club, Phyllis spots Nick - and is about to approach him when Avery comes over with a stack of napkins. As the cozy pair dab at one another, a hurt Phyllis hurries back out the revolving door.
After Lily goes to get coffee, Eden's almost knocked over by Ricky (who flirts a bit - then goes to meet two girls waiting for him). Cane arrives - and is glad to hear Lily's OK. Thank you, she surprises him an impulsive hug.
Tucker still silent, Ashley shouts at Abby (who won't pick up the pieces when Tucker wrecks her Mom's life). Getting a text from his PR manager, Tucker updates that the news is out. They're gonna be all over Devon, he frets. Meanwhile, Devon returns home - looking disillusioned and lost.
You're resigning? Effective immediately, Neil confirms. He wishes Kay well - but can't work for her any longer. You're my friend. And you WERE mine, Neil walks out - leaving Kay in tears.
Devon's stunned to see Yolanda at his front door. Hey baby - her eyes are tear filled and hopeful.
Neil's given his phone at the nurses station when Malcolm and Sophia hobble in. Already? He thought the baby wasn't due til next month. It's coming now, Malcolm leads Sophia past a stunned Neil.
Next: In a wheelchair, Sophia looks up at them - as Malcolm points at himself and Neil; the father should be in the room when the baby's born .... I had to come, Yolanda says. Now that I'm rich, you're here with your hand out, Devon sneers .... Seeing Kay's room empty, Tucker panics; My mother - why isn't she here?! Is she alright!?
My Thoughts: Yolanda sure got to GC in a hurry - has she been living and working on the outskirts of town all this time? At least it looks like she's kicked her drug addiction (she's working - not emaciated - and has better teeth than the average long term crackhead) .... Not to defend him - but Tucker didn't 'abandon' Devon when he was a 'kid' - he wasn't even born when Tucker moved on ... Why would Eden call Daniel - and leave him a message saying she saw something online about Devon? Wouldn't Daniel just Google Devon at home - instead of going all the way to CL's? ... Yeah - we get it - Abby doesn't like Tucker - but why does she keep going over to HIS place to tell him? Can't Tucker alert security (if his building HAS any) - and block her access to his condo? ... Since his phone won't stop ringing (with calls from people he doesn't want to talk to - and the only people Devon DOES want to talk to are WITH him, why doesn't he just turn his phone off? ... Thanks for coming so fast, Sophia tells Malcolm (another line she's probably used before) ... Have a great weekend folks.
