Today's Spoiler

Wednesday, November 9th

At home, the McCall's confirm their wedding invitation via laptop. A small church wedding the Friday before Thanksgiving is exactly what Ashley wants. Tucker's not inviting his mother - and assumes his son won't be attending.

Devon chats with Sofia and Neil (who've brought Moses to G-worm). What's Devon up to? He's been roped into helping a girl who thinks she can sing. Things get awkward over the Christening. Sofia's already asked Tucker - but Neil (who seems to have Devon in mind) doesn't think that the best idea.

Kay (as temporarily played by Michael Learned) gives Jill her mail. Oh look - an invitation to Moses' Christening. Sadly, Kay's not expecting an invitation - the Winters think of Jill as family (her, not so much). C'est la vie, she shrugs it off.

At CL's, Paul rehashes Ricky taking the photos that destroyed his sister's career. Ricky was focused on Sharon's trial. Yeah - but why go to Phyllis (to see how much the photos were worth). Paul needs help understanding the actions of the son he barely knows. I barely know you either, Ricky replies. So - this was to get back at me? Paul concludes.

In Ronan's office, Chris demands answers (on why he took of the way he did). Nina chimes in to say she didn't even know if he was alive. Well - Ronan is. After Chance takes Nina for a walk, Chris informs Ronan that she knows a lot more than he thinks she does.

On the patio, Nick talks in riddles about deja vu - things are really complicated (which is why neither Phyllis nor I know what he's talking about).

Taking a seat on a park bench, Nina whines to Chance (who's let it go - and is just glad he was able to save Ronan's life). Nina's not surprised - Chance saves lives all the time (while Ronan doesn't care about anyone but himself). When a mother and Boy Scout son come along to decorate the bench (for the Veteran's Day parade), Nina boasts that her son used to be a Boy Scout - and is now a soldier. A flag now draped over the bench, Nina watches mother and son leave. She really wants to understand Ronan.

Chris shares what she knows - after surgery, the FBI flew Ronan to a hospital in Washington. Then, at his request, he went under cover - so deep she couldn't find him. The Ronan SHE knew wouldn't rip out his mother's heart (and brother's liver). Now he pops up in GC? What the hell!? WHY? Is Ronan TRYING to hurt his mother - or is he finally to deal with his family? Ronan's silent; a tear in his eye - a lump in his throat.

Ricky never meant to hurt Heather - he was just doing his job. He saw a prosecutor (not his sister) kissing a witness. Ricky HAD second thoughts - but it was too late. Everything blew up when Phyllis stole them. Paul really wants to believe him. And Ricky wishes Heather had stayed - so he could make it up to her.

Still on the patio, Phyllis and Nick are 'very polite' with one another (which is better than fighting but not better than 'make up sex'). When Nick thinks it better they remain friends, colleagues, Phyllis sadly agrees - weeping on Nick's shoulder as they hug.

Over dinner at G-worm, Sofia explains that Tucker (a good man) is like family to her. Neil can't agree. Devon's 'cool' with it. See? Let's stick to the original plan. OK, Neil agrees - you win. Tucker's Godfather, Liv's Godmother (though Devon doesn't appear as cool with it as he pretends to be).

Champagne in hand, Ashley toasts 'to second weddings and second chances'. Tucker's an inexperienced husband - and Ashley won't even go into how many times she's said 'I do'. Now finally with the right person (better late than never) they clink glasses and drink.

Seated beside the supportive Murphy, Kay knows Neil has reason to be angry with her. It's not the first (nor last) time she's had to live with consequences of her actions. Jill's sure she'll move past it - look at OUR battles - we've made forgiveness an Olympic sport, all chuckle.

Avery appears in time to pay for Nick's coffee - knowing she owes him a huge apology.

Nina and Chance return to Ronan's office. Is he ready to talk? Nope - Ronan's said all he's gonna say. Teary, Nina will always be there for him - but is done trying to build a relationship. I give up - you'll never hear another word from me. You don't deserve her, Chance says (then follows Nina out). This is what you want? an incredulous Chris shakes her head (then follows Nina and Chance out). And as an emotional Ronan shoves the whiteboard, Phyllis cautiously enters. Not now, Ronan chokes out. I can't be here right now, he scurries out.

Chance, Nina and Chris commiserate at CL's. It never occurred to Nina that if she found her son, he wouldn't want anything to do with her. Spotting Paul with Ricky, Nina and Chris go over (while Chance leaves to run some errands). Paul introduces his former friend and ex wife Chris (who looks VERY unnerved when Ricky says it's nice to finally meet the woman he's heard so much about).

Seated on the patio, Avery explains 'a crime of negligence' (which she committed by not telling Phyllis it wasn't a good time for her to stop by). And you let her walk in on us, Nick concludes. It was a wrong choice, Avery admits - a lapse in judgment (made worse by not being honest with Nick). Why'd she do it? Avery (the 'good sister' couldn't resist. She took the opportunity to hurt Phyllis (without considering the consequences to Nick). Feeling 'sick' about it, Avery's very sorry she didn't take the high road.

Phyllis now turns up at Ronan's motel room - she heard Nina say she doesn't want anything to do with him - and (correctly) assumes it effected him. Still emotional, Ronan reminds that he arrested her today - what's he supposed to do with this? What is Phyllis after? Knowing what it's like to have a messed up family, Phyllis suggests they commiserate about that.

Avery thinks she's different from Phyllis - but what she did is what her sister would have done. It's not cool, but Nick admires her apology. Making girls 'feel better' is what he does. Avery's very attracted to Nick - being with him had NOTHING to do with Phyllis. Say you believe me. Nick does.

Bringing Moses to the McCall's, Ashley gush over the baby - while Tucker assures Neil that he'll be a good Godfather. As opposed to being a lousy father? And when Neil takes another jab (that Tucker didn't look for Devon), Tucker's irritated - what do YOU know about it? Huh? Sofia agrees with Ashley - let's talk about the wedding (Tucker and Neil continue to glare at one another).

Still at G-worm, Devon hangs up with Roxy. His smile vanishes when he's hand delivered an envelope; an invitation to Tucker and Ashley's wedding.

Packing up Moses, Sofia's thrilled when asked to stand up for Tucker, who considers her the only family he has (though both he and Ashley hope that will change). Prodded by Sofia, Neil forces a smile.

Taking delivery of a 'beautiful' envelope (for Chloe - and bearing Tucker and Ashley's return address) Kay assumes it's a wedding invitation. Jill updates Chris that the McCall's are renewing their vows. To make Kay feel better, Nina sighs that she's not the only one with a son who refuses to be part of his mother's life. The wayward son's club - where does Jill sign up? Paul chimes in about Ricky; who's behaviour he doesn't understand. Having lost a son, Murphy encourages all not to give up. Invite Ricky to dinner, Kay would like to get to know him. But when Paul calls him over for pizza, Ricky claims he's busy (sitting alone on a park bench).

For the record, Nick wasn't thinking about Phyllis either. Avery's smart, talented and very hot. It's true. Avery always found it hard to compete with Phyllis; you've either got it or you don't. You've definitely got it, Nick gives her a passionate kiss.

Though divorced from Nick, Phyllis claims they're 'sort of' - kind of together. But not anymore - because of Avery. Phyllis is terrified that she'll lose Lucy - also because of Avery. It's no coincidence that things  got crazy when her sister came to town. Agreeing, Ronan sits on the bed beside Phyllis (who confesses leaving home as a teenager - she has no desire to renew ties with 'those people'). So - she understands how Ronan feels. It's not that, tearing up, Ronan owes them his life (and doesn't know how to deal with that).

Neil and Sofia's next stop is CL's. And as Moses sleeps, they joke about him being up all night. Say the word and Sofia will move out (and let Neil get back to his usual routine). Neil's happy to say - this IS his usual routine. He treasures every moment. Of course we'll stay, Sofia puts a smile on Neil's face.

The McCall's end their perfect evening by cuddling on the couch - assuming their invitations have been delivered. Tucker's really hoping Devon will come. Because of Abby, Ashley's optimistic.

Strolling through the park, Devon reads the wedding invitation - then throws it in the garbage,

As the gang at the mausoleum enjoy pizza and togetherness, Ricky hovers outside the front door. Peeking in at the gathering, he continues to debate going inside.

Struggling out of their clothes, Nick and Avery are joined at the lips - as they make their way onto the bed in Avery's suite.

Meanwhile, Phyllis continues to help Ronan sort out feelings he's never told anyone before - which leads to a soulful kiss.

Next: Papers in hand .Chance makes an announcement to everyone at the mausoleum; They're my orders - for my next assignment ... Victor's on the phone - if Billy Abbott's not where he's supposed to be - where the hell is he? ... I found a way to defame Victor, Billy tells Kevin (who's kinda, sorta listening).

My Thoughts: Why can't Detective Malloy find more upscale accommodations? Couldn't he have sublet Heather's place (the department's safe house)? How did the Red Menace (thanks Dawn88) even know he was living at the motel? ... When saying she has a 'messed up' family, does Phyllis not realize she's a tad messed up herself ... Ronan's not 'up' for 'this'? Not to worry - he will be soon - Phyllis will see to that ... Yes - Ashley sure HAS said 'I do' a few times - but does Tucker know that most of the men Ashley's been involved in have met an untimely death? ... Devon could use 'a break'? From WHAT exactly? ... With everything set for Moses' Christening, Neil and Sofia are NOW discussing who's to be the Godfather? Really - Who'd pick a struggling music producer over a billionaire? ... Not sure why Jeanne Cooper's absent (hopefully it's not due to health issues) - but I believe Michael Learned played the mother on The Waltons. A good replacement - but she sure lacks the glitz of JC  ... Why is everyone just parading into Ronan's office without even knocking? Good thing he's got the sheet over his evidence white board ... Pretty elaborate decorations for the Veteran's Day parade (flags carelessly thrown over a few benches) I'm guessing the homeless people living in the park will be using them for blankets by tomorrow. With all the undecorated benches strewn about the park, the Boy Scout had to pick the one bench people are sitting on? ..... Nina has a son in the military and didn't guess why Boy Scouts would be decorating the park?... Of course Ricky's first thought wasn't 'hey - that's my sister' (it was probably euuuuwww - that's my sister) ... Ok - Phyllis and Ronan aren't as bad a pairing as I initially thought. Perhaps there is to their connection than just sex  ... How can Phyllis discuss 'make up sex' with Nick (when he's just dismounted her sister)? That said, I don't think Nick and Phyllis are over.
