In Ronan's office, Paul's equally frustrated (and equally being hassled by the DA) - about Diane's mysterious murder. The onus is now on the 'no place like home' pillow - and the 10th suspect. Hopefully the NE surveillance tapes Paul's brought will help.
Comfy behind Victor's desk, Adam's on the phone. Yes, Vikki's leaving the company. Yes, it is sad. Mike and Vikki scowl and shake their heads - as Adam asks security for some boxes - so Vikki can pack her things ~click~ Get the hell outta my father's office, Vikki snarls. Didn't you quit? Adam reminds - or has she changed her mind again.
At home, Jack chats with his new cat his son's taken a real liking to. Jack - not so much. Nothing against 'Dave' - but cats remind him of a time he'd sooner forget. Outside the front door, Patty peers in.
On their tropical island, the honeymooners are clad in post massage robes. Ashley's distracted - and yes, Tucker does want to know what she's 'overreacting' about. It's Billy - Ashley's worried about him.
At RS, Nick's confused - as to why his sister would take Billy back. He admits she's been cool - about a lot of uncool things. You put her through hell, Nick snarls. Yes, but Billy's gonna put things right. And Nick CAN help - buy selling RS back to him.
On the CL's patio, Phyllis continues to nudge Avery with her olive branch - now that Avery's admitted they're Dad's guilty, they can move on. Whatever Phyllis THOUGHT she heard, she's wrong (Avery now retracts her statement).
Avery now claims she said what Phyllis wanted to hear - so she'd get off her back. She does NOT think their Dad guilty - nor does she understand why Phyllis left. She won't be bullied to ease Phyllis' guilt - nothing's changed. Following Avery inside, Phyllis demands she stop using her 'daughter' as punishment. Daisy is not psychotic, Avery claims she's a victim who's been used - by lunatics and liars (like PHYLLIS). She needs ME. No - you need her (and Nick) - as revenge. Your life COMPLETELY 'revolves' around me, Phyllis scoffs - that Avery's crusade for justice landed her in Daisy's cell - and her ex husband's pants. THIS is why Phyllis left - Avery's denials of wrongdoing have just proved Phyllis' point - thank you very much! Now alone, the 'lovely' Avery blinks back tears - then proves Phyllis point even further - by immediately calling Nick - to invite him to drop by her suite.
Hearing that Billy wants to buy back RS to get his life back on track, Nick declines - sorry. Well, you know where to find me if you change your mind, Billy leaves Nick to mull it over.
Back at the station, Paul wonders if the pillow represents the real killer - or someone the real killer is trying to set up. Watching the tapes on his laptop, Ronan jumps up - that's Adam Newman - let's go! He and Paul race out - capes flapping behind them.
Vikki may not want Adam there - but DAD does - he'll be covering for Victor while he's gone. Both have a different version of last time this happened (Vikki reminding Adam of his insane power trip - that got him fired). And when Mike accuses Adam of setting Victor up, Vikki warns that Victor will be back soon. Good - Adam will be the first person to roll out the welcome wagon. Have my things waiting in the lobby, Vikki orders as she slams out.
Nikki informs Victor that she arrived while he was in jail overnight. Grateful for his support, she talks of her travels - but nothing compares to being home. Will she stay at the ranch? Told it's her 'home', Nikki's touched ~hug~ but when Victor asks if she's 'doing well', a teary eyed, Nikki glances at the vodka on the bar.
Knowing she's being silly, Ashley worries about Billy - and Jabot. No need to apologize - Tucker loves how much she cares - and he has an appointment in Chicago he'd like to get to. It;s THEIR island - to come back to anytime they like. The honeymoon isn't over, both agree with a kiss.
At CL's, Vikki rants about Adam - and is equally frustrated that she even cares about NE. Remind me what a bastard my father is - talk me out of warning him about Adam. Billy'd like to - but can't.
Back at the ranch, Nikki's thrilled to be 'home'. Victor knows she's been through a lot - let's put it all behind us. Nikki mentions THEIR stress (that she can see in his eyes) - everyone being suspects in Diane's murder. The suspicions and accusations have caused a lot of damage, Victor feels Nikki lucky to have escaped it all.
Sticking around to babysit Adam, Mike's soon joined by 'GC's most average'. Ha ha - Paul and Ronan are amused by Adam's quips - and have some questions. Adam admits he was at NE over Thanksgiving. But of course he didn't get into Victor's safe. OK - did he see anyone else unusual?
Now inside Jack's home, Patty's brought her cat some made from scratch food. She got what she deserved, Patty babbles.
At CL's, Billy doesn't think Victor deserves Vikki's help - and though he hates the 'dirt bag' - her father needs her. Come through for your family, he advises. Alrighty then - with a quick thank you kiss, Vikki's off to see her father.
At RS, Nick calls Avery to say he'll see her soon. Hi to you too, he greets Phyllis (as she marches past him and begins typing). Nick doesn't approve of her big story ideas - on Billy - or Victor; prime suspect).
Clucking about poor Kyle, Victor will make sure the boy is well taken care of. Nikki's sure he will - if only people could see how kind and generous Victor is - and most of all, forgiving. She hopes she can always count on that. Knowing Nikki has faced (and beaten) her demons, Victor will always be there for her. I've missed you - let's go upstairs, Victor leads the way.
Back at NE, as Mike watches on, Paul and Ronan aren't so easy to get rid of - as they accuse Adam of making everyone look suspicious. Victor hated Diane more than anyone else, Adam points out.
His Mom back from rehab, Nick won't let Phyllis write about the evidence found in Victor's safe. We're journalists - objective, Phyllis argues - we have an obligation. And did he see the sales numbers? When Nick doesn't care - if it hurts the people they love, Phyllis tells him to sell the magazine and go into 'non profit'. Let me do my job! Nick has somewhere to be. Phyllis has another story idea - about the not so innocent Avery (but denies she's using the magazine to get back at her sister). Her sister is going after HER! Nick can handle Avery. I bet you can, Phyllis sneers (but looks troubled when he exits).
Hearing Jack, Patty scurries into hiding - just as Billy and Ashley arrive. Jack then announces that they'd like Billy to come back to Jabot; make it a real family business again.
Naked and in bed, Nick confides that he's thinking of selling RS back to Billy. And Phyllis? Avery wonders.
Perched on Ronan's desk, Phyllis assumes she's no longer a suspect. Victor was questioned - not arrested. She's still at the top of Ronan's list. Good - Phyllis likes being on top. Reminded that they're in public, she continues to flirt - and try to pry answers out of Ronan (who's interested to hear that Nikki's home).
Nikki's in a different dress when she and Victor come back downstairs. In his arms, Nikki's just fine - but what's wrong? Victor reports that Vikki's resigned - not everyone in the family appreciates his protectiveness. And as soon as Nikki goes to make a snack, Vikki arrives - may I come in?
Remembering that Nikki went missing from rehab the day Diane was murdered, Ronan's gotta get on this. You think she killed Diane? Told not to write about it, Phyllis wonders what she'll get for complying (and with a saucy grin, leaves Ronan to pick up the pillow - suspect #10; solved).
Nick would rather not talk about Phyllis (pain in the butt and mood killer) - in fact he'd rather not talk at all ~kiss~
Billy's flattered - but not interested in working at Jabot. He's 'got some feelers out' - and right now, off to see Delia. Love you guys. After Billy leaves, Jack wonders aloud - where's that damn cat?
At the CL's counter, Patty hides her face (and the cat in her bag) - as Paul and Mike chat behind her. At the door, she pauses to look back.
Tucker doesn't remember that night - his brain was messed up from the coma. He can't shake the feeling that did something terrible to Diane. And look who he's talking to - a therapist - whatserface (Patty's look alike).
Billy's the one who convinced Vikki to tell Victor about Adam - thank HIM. And what does Victor plan to do? Adam won't be a problem. he assures - stick to the plan - no one can know what they have in store for Adam. But Vikki's no longer in on the plan - and she's done her good deed for the day; good bye. When Nikki joins them, hugs and I love/missed you's are exchanged.
Next: So you really think of Delia as your girl huh? Yeah, I do, Kevin (Chloe on his arm) admits to Billy ... Deacon watches from the doorway - as Nikki addresses the AA meeting - I have a family and a life that's worth fighting for ... Have you told Ashley that you're seeing a therapist? I haven't told her it's you though, Tucker replies.
My Thoughts: Stop using 'my daughter', Phyllis barks at Avery (who, for some reason, doesn't bother to correct Lucy's grandmother). Perhaps the 'lovely lovely Avery' should have a chat with Lauren - or the nephew her client RAPED - THEY are the victims, not Daisy ... If Ronan didn't have enough evidence to charge Victor, how did he manage to keep him over night? ... Paul's a PRIVATE Detective (not a city employee) - why is he being lectured by the DA? .... What exactly was Vikki's big revelation about Adam? That he's sitting behind Victor's desk? He sure does look good there ... Nice boots Phyllis - if you're hangin' on a street corner or twirling round a stripper pole. Billy and Victor are Phyllis' idea of a 'big story'? The readers will be better off if Nick sells RS to Billy (as that'll ensure Phyllis gets fired) As will the employees (they won't have to watch their bosses fight - or sanitize their sticky desks) .... How can Patty see where she's going - with that huge hat completely covering her face? .... Victor's gonna see to it that Kyle's well taken care of? Starting when? The day he removes the boy from his father's custody? If that's his plan, what is he waiting for? ... Nick's trying to figure out why Vikki would take Billy back? Probably the same reason Sharon and Phyllis have repeatedly taken HIM back (after putting them 'through hell') ... Phyllis is still trying to bond with Avery - yet Avery continues to deny her life revolves around Phyllis - but immediately after, calls to arrange a nooner with Nick. She's just as twisted as her sister - and how can she deny her words yesterday. It's not what Phyllis 'thinks she heard' - it's the words that came out of Avery's mouth (when she clearly admitted suspecting their father guilty) .... Never mind where your damn cat is Jack - how about the dog who disappeared without anyone noticing months ago?
