Meeting Billy at CL's, Ashley's loaded down with gifts for Delia. And what does Billy want to find under the tree? He has everything he wants. Ashley rants a bit about what Victor did to him; it's sick. He might not have killed Diane, but Billy feels he got what's coming to him.
As Patty listens, Genevieve's shocked stammering, results in Jack babbling about how miserable his first marriage was. He never got it right until now. Yes! Genevieve WILL marry Jack (who slips the ring on). He's SO in love with Genevieve ~kiss~ A distraught Patty peeks her head around to watch.
Guess Nick doesn't have to worry about Phyllis 'handling' Ronan. It's not what it looks like. Oh - cause it looks like they're 'having sex'. Phyllis then reminds that Nick's 'having sex' with her sister. Nick gets to the point; his father's in court - and didn't kill Diane. Agreeing, Phyllis announces that she and Ronan are working on that. But no, they have nothing to stop Victor's guilty plea from going through.
But Nikki does. Victor is innocent, she slurs at the Judge. And as Victor begs her not to say another word, Nikki begs the Judge to hear her - she KNOWS what happened in the park.
As Patty still listens, Jack makes a call to Ashley - ordering her and Billy to stay put - he'll be there soon. Well - ready to spread the good news? Merna? Is that you? Veil in place, she comes out to croak that she has a cold - then hearing the good news that supposed to make her feel better - runs upstairs to be sick.
There MUST be a way to prevent the Judge from accepting my Dad's plea. All Ronan's accomplished is being fired from the force - and an unpaid vacation from the FBI. Suspecting Phyllis is behind the RS piece (on his Mom), Nick's not sure he wants her help. Played the untraceable footage emailed to Ronan, Nick has to admit - his mother could have killed Diane. Actually, Ronan feels it means she DIDN'T.
He did not kill Diane - I did, Nikki insists. She's drunk - doesn't know what she's saying, Victor says. Please don't do this - I'm not worth it - tell the truth, Nikki implores Victor (an officer on either arm ready to remove her).
Engaged?! That was quick. Oops - sorry - Ashley didn't mean that the way it sounded. Billy thinks it great news - for Jackie - not so much for Genevieve (whom he's trying to prepare). This is a first - all the Abbott children in love at the same time, Ashley notes.
At home, a devastated Patty flashes back to Genevieve and Jack making out under the tree - and takes her wrath out on the blanket. I hate you! I hate you! she sobs.
A well dressed Deacon jogs into G-worm - to order a soda and lime from his bartender pal. Showing off his 'new look', Deacon boasts that the flashy watch was a gift from his wife. The bartender's disappointed that Deacon can't cover a shift for him - but a huge tip helps.
So Ronan doesn't think Nick's Mom OR Dad killed Diane? He thinks he's been played - from the start. He's now being pointed towards Nikki - as a distraction. Nick's assurance that his parents didn't kill Diane may not help - but he offers money, planes, equipment - anything to find the real killer. The three of us working together? Phyllis thinks Nick has a lot to offer - and he's not afraid of the truth.
Nikki weebles and wobbles as she's lead off to a cell - for the night. Mike's told he won't be handling her bail until tomorrow. Sharon, Avery and Adam watch from the gallery. Told to go with her mother, Vikki trots out behind Nikki (indignant - I won't let you do this to me).
Nick's idea that they show the footage to Walsh isn't a good one. It could backfire - and put her in a cell next to Victor. Avery calls Nick - to update on Victor's sentence and Nikki's drunken appearance (and arrest for contempt). I'm on my way, Nick relays the news to Ronan and Phyllis - keep working.
The prisoner is to be transferred to the penitentiary to begin serving his sentence immediately. All rise - and Adam watches intently - as Sharon leans forward to tell Victor that she's not giving up.
As Jack hangs up with Traci, Genevieve just doesn't see a downside to being part of the Abbott family. Billy frowns at his phone - I don't believe this. Victor got 25 to life. Ashley jumps up to call Abby - and Billy to call Vikki. Remaining seated beside Genevieve, Jack's pleased - and he thought this day couldn't get any better.
The department heads all seated for the meeting, Adam decides to cancel it. His father will be behind bars the rest of his life. It's time to move forward. A meeting will be called to name Victor's successor.
After calling an FBI friend (to help trace the email), Ronan and Phyllis discuss Nick's 'anything to help' offer. Kinda weird right? His reaction to 'us' being together? Cooler than Ronan thought he'd be. Now why would Phyllis be disappointed? She was NOT hoping he'd be jealous. Having been thoroughly investigated by her Detective, Phyllis has something to go do. Leaving her next move a mystery, Phyllis sashays out.
Nick joins Vikki on the outside of the holding tank - as she whines about messing everything up. Did you kill Diane? Is that why Dad confessed, Nick blurts out. I must have, Nikki thought it was Vikki - that's why I ... Vikki explains that as soon as she convinced Mom that she didn't, she came straight to the courthouse. Near tears, Nikki admits she blacked out - but woke up beside a bloody rock. She remembers the blood. That's why Dad confessed, Nick realizes. Please help him, Nikki weeps.
Victor talks to Mike from behind glass. It's not necessary to keep him separated from the other prisoners. He can handle himself. Mike snaps - you didn't have to give up your freedom. Why is he behind 'that'? Sharon comes in to wonder. High profile prisoner, Mike explains - to protect him from other prisoners. This isn't right, Sharon maintains. You'll get used to it, Victor assures.
Stoking the fire, Patty hears of Victor's sentence (and Nikki's drunken outburst) on the radio. Stunned, she reacts by dropping the poker.
His siblings rejoining him and his bride to be, Jack doesn't see any reason for Abby to come home - the Mustache has left the building. His niece is perfectly capable of surviving without Victor - in fact, she's better off. Ashley balks - but Jack's relieved - and suggests a lunch party; to celebrate his engagement (and Victor's demise). Overruled by the ladies, the lunch (at G-worm) will celebrate just the engagement. As all part ways, Billy offers congratulates - but is off to find Vikki (whom he leaves another message for). Phyllis arrives - Billy's just the man she wanted to see.
Sharon sings the same old song - he's not helping Nikki (who's out of control). Victor will do the time - THEY must take care of Nikki. Is that clear?
Can things get any worse? Vikki pouts. Sure can - Nick gets a call - Adam's called a board meeting for tomorrow - to name a new CEO. He didn't waste any time - knows Nick's slammed - and taking advantage. When Vikki suggests they start calling board members, Nick thinks there's someone else they have to deal with first.
Deacon jumps off his bar stool when Nick-a-louse approaches (with Vikki). He better not try using him as a punching bag again. No? In that case - what can he do for his step kiddies? No, Nikki didn't mention anything to Deacon about Diane's murder. He has no clue why she'd think Vikki did it. Updated, Deacon thinks Nikki will need him. When Vikki blasts him, Deacon doesn't understand her animosity - all he did was sleep with her. And scoffing at her marrying the guy who put in on the front page, he dismisses them both.
Phyllis follows Billy to the patio. She can help Victor and Nikki - they didn't kill Diane - we all know that - but SHE will find out who DID. It would 'behoove' Billy to run her stories in RS. Yes - Vikki WOULD forgive him - if she was able to prove her parent's innocence. No - not all on her own - with Ronan and Nick.
As Ronan replays the footage of Nikki, he gets a call - FBI business in Honolulu. Sounds too good to be true.
How much Victor must love Nikki, Sharon opines - but she remembers what it feels like to be spending the rest of your life behind bars.
A fellow detainee teases Nikki for being overdressed - she belongs at the country club. No - the holding tank is just where I belong, Nikki sighs.
Phyllis sells her three for one deal - all working to free Vikki's parents. How does Billy know Phyllis isn't lying? Call Nick. Ok - IF she comes up with a story that clears the Newman's, Billy will THINK about hiring her.
Still at G-worm, Vikki wonders if Dad's trying to protecting her too. Nick informs that he's working with Ronan and Phyllis - and may bring Paul onboard. Ashley, Jack and Genevieve arrive to express how sorry they are. Jack knows that Nikki's always the one Victor hurts the most.
When Deacon arrives at the holding tank, Nikki calls him a liar - and shouts for the guard. Get out!! I love you, manages to get in as he's lead away. I hate you! Nikki snarls.
Patty sews a pillow - Alcohol doesn't get you drunk - bartender's do. Admiring her handiwork, she tosses it into the fireplace.
Commiserating at CL's, Mike now wants to work with Avery. Joining them, Sharon got nowhere with Victor. She excuses herself when Adam comes in. Tuck Daddy into his cell? he quips. He's innocent, Sharon points out. Not according to him, Adam refuses to be all choked up. You have no idea to love someone so much - that you'd give up your life for them, Sharon says in parting.
Ronan now sits on the other side of the glass. Aloha Victor. He knows the plum assignment was arranged by Victor - and he knows he didn't kill Diane. Victor doesn't give a damn what he believes. Go to Hawaii - case closed. But - Ronan won't 'drop it' - until he finds the real killer.
Next: She is NOT singing at the wedding - because you would NOT let that happen. Chloe issues more of a statement than a question to Kevin (as Angie can be heard screeching at the chapel) .... At the board meeting, Lauren asks Tucker for his vote (causing Nick and Vikki's heads to swivel). I'm the speed bump - Tucker hasn't made up his mind yet.... I'm determined to find out what happened to me that night, a sober Nikki vows to Victor.
My Thoughts: Deacon and Adam tie for line of the day; Deacon gets a rare nod for his 'Nick-a-louse' quip . But it's Adam who's really 'sharp' (pun intended) - with his 'tucking Daddy into his cell' line to Sharon .. Guess Deacon's plans with 'the Missus' will have to be cancelled ... Oh look - and handsome new black man in town - that makes a grand total of what? 3? .... Ronan's place is gonna have no water at all - not so green, Phyllis leaves the shower running during her lengthy chat with Nick - and never DOES get in to wash the detective off her ... Per Vikki, Nikki 'came straight to the courthouse'. Huh? She didn't drive her? Nikki certainly didn't drive herself (let's hope). Love how the stenographer keeps typing as Nikki babbles drunkenly. Odd that this high profile case/prisoner didn't attract the press. How polite of the guard - to wait patiently, gently holding the convicted murderers arm as Sharon repeated her spiel. You'd think Jack would want to be in the gallery - as his son's Mom's killer is sentenced .... Phyllis should think about running a brush through her hair before leaving Ronan's economy love nest ... Nice to see the show splurged and bought a piece of plexiglass. But if it's to protect him from other prisoners, does that mean Mike and Sharon are on the side with the dangerous felons? Sharon should be able to 'get used to it' (having recently spent time in prison herself - she should be very used to it)... Jack's first marriage was miserable? He left a bit out - sure didn't help that he cheated with Diane Jenkins (Jabot's lead model at the time) the day before he was to wed the innocent and love struck Patty Williams (who was quickly made aware of her groom's cheating) .... We knew Patty enjoyed her arts n crafts - but who knew she could produce machine quality embroidered pillows in such a short time? Given that Genevieve's house was just restored after fire, you'd think she'd at least have a screen over the fireplace .. Victor does deserve to be behind bars - he's clearly obstructing justice - and enabling Diane's killer to remain free. So - when Patty kills Genevieve, HER blood will be on his hands (which will be another justified reason for Jack to hate him). When will Victor stop trying to manipulate every situation? A family member who kills - is still a killer - and should be punished according to the law. Being supportive - hiring the best defense possible, would be reasonable (and legal) actions - NOT committing perjury and willingly obstructing an investigation. The Newman's lie with such ease - I'm beginning to dislike each and every one of em. And how stupid is Billy? He can't hire another enthusiastic journalist? One who didn't steal the child he purchased for 2 million dollars? Ricky practically begged for the job - he actually went to SCHOOL for journalism. And - since his Dad's SISTER is the real killer (which he'll eventually find out when brought onto the case) - I'm sure Paul would rather pass along info to his son than the woman who ran him over and left him impotent for months ... What's that? A bloody rock. Guess Nick, seated right beside Ronan, needs the detective to explain what he's looking at.
