Billy updates Vikki - he hinted there'd be something in it for Anita - if she quietly faded into the background once the baby's born. No - it's not like buying a baby - it's Billy's son (whom they must protect - no matter the price).
On the CL's patio, Anita can't believe how easy this is - more profitable than their past complicated cons. Billy paid 2 million for a kid that wasn't his - imagine what he'll pay for the baby Chelsea's carrying. Looking unenthused, Chelsea merely nods in the right places.
Earring in her hand, Nikki flashes back to mentioning the lost earring to Anita - then Victor's denial. She leaves a message for him - call when when you get to Paris.
Still in the Paris bar, Genevieve's wooing the most innovative thinker in the business - when Victor interrupts (and makes it clear he's well acquainted with Bernard; who's then promptly dismissed). He'd take BofN in an entirely new direction, Genevieve comments - though Victor thinks her solution is closer to home.
Phyllis visits Jack - who'll be out of that chair in no time, she's sure. A get well card invokes talk of how Summer and Lucy are bonding as sisters - we're becoming a little family. Where does Nick fit in? That's complicated.
Nick and Faith meet Sharon at a small airport. Oh, how mother and daughter missed one another. And here? Adam's not doing so well, Sharon reports.
At the cemetery, a morose Adam runs his hand over his mother's headstone.
Still on the subject of Adam, Sharon updates that he's given up - sent her back to Faith. Nick's sarcastic - yeah - that's Adam noble and self sacrificing (but looks guilty when Sharon reminds that he saved Faith's life). Adam's blind because he tried to stop Patty. He could have died - and part of him likely wishes he had.
Kneeling at Hope's grave, Adam speaks aloud - hard to believe she's been gone 4 years. Removing his glasses, Adam ponders - did she keep him away from his father - knowing what he (Adam) was capable of? Didn't work - it wasn't the farm that protected him - it was you Mom. If he can't 'find' her at the farm, where can he? Adam's kindly driver joins him - to say Hope was a wonderful woman (then lead Adam back to the car).
Genevieve didn't 'crash' her son's wedding - she watched from a discreet distance. Admitting she's a lousy mother, Gen will now focus on business. Then let's get down to business, Victor says. Cheers, they clink glasses.
Nikki's exits the bedroom in a huff - if she can't get answers from Victor, she'll get them on her own.
Jack tells Phyllis about showing Genevieve (whom Phyllis never liked) his bid - and that he has legal grounds to challenge the sale.
Back in Paris, Victor's asked his impression of Bernard (which isn't favourable). Genevieve knows Victor's a traditionalist; old school - but she's ready to 'shake things up'. She'd like to infuse energy and adventure into BofN - and is determined to make it a success. Victor points out that BofN was already a success - and the reason for that is sitting right in front of her.
The Abbott's kissing is once again interrupted - when Chelsea and Anita burst in with replacement baking ingredients. Then Nikki arrives - to invite Anita to G-worm - get to know one another. As Anita goes to fetch her purse, Nikki shares her plan - to find out what Anita's hiding.
Yeah - Sharon brought all her stuff - she might come back to GC with Nick and Faith (though doesn't feel good about leaving Adam alone).
Moping at the kitchen table, Adam feels a hand on his shoulder. Mom? He pulls her closer - snuggling into Hope's comforting arms.
Taking a seat, Hope delivers a pep talk. She's as much a part of Adam as Victor is - she knows he can survive this. You have my spirit, my strength of will - it lives on in you. Rely on that, she encourages. Yes, she knows what Adam's capable of; real happiness - joy - honesty and integrity. Not just ambition and pride. Accept that, she implores.
Sharon wants to be home with her daughter. OK - let's go. But when she continues to fret about Adam, Nick suggests Sharon stay -he'll bring Faith to visit whenever she wants.
Leaving, the Abbott's aren't going to check on 'the Mom's'. Why? Chelsea's clearly nervous about the meeting - her Mom has a tendency to exaggerate. Vikki's sure it's OK - Nikki has a radar - nothing gets past her (which leaves Chelsea even more nervous)
At G-worm, Nikki wastes little time producing the earring (found in HER home). Anita denies it's hers - then protests when Nikki dumps her purse onto the table. Well - would you look at that - a perfect match. Nikki's triumphant - Anita busted.
When Jack asks about consulting Avery, Phyllis reports she's out of town - their father had a heart attack. And you stayed here? Jack's surprised - and wonders how Phyllis will feel if she gets the call that he's gone forever.
Genevieve can't deny that Victor's done an amazing job with BofN - but she's gonna top it. Victor likes her fire - her drive - but feels it unfair that the company was sold while he was incarcerated. Genevieve admires what he did - but putting love and family first has consequences. As the sparring continues, Victor lays it on thick. Genevieve will be an executive - learn from him. Yes - they'd be working that closely together. Sounds like Gen's being offered the moon - but she likes the stars too (which Victor can 'do' too).
Repacking her purse, Anita can't imagine how the earring (if it's even hers) came to be in Nikki's home (wherever THAT is). Nikki's description of the ranch begins (and ends) with the camera that captures everyone coming in and out. OK - Anita stopped by to see Mr Newman - to let him know that Chelsea wouldn't cause trouble for Billy and Vikki. Digging an even deeper hole, Anita later slips up - and Nikki pounces; oh? You're on a first name basis? Refusing to return the earrings, Nikki dismisses Anita abruptly - we're done here.
Having fixed herself a snack, Chelsea talks to her kicking baby - they won't have to deal with Anita too much longer. You won't grow up like I did - you're Daddy will make sure of it.
The Abbott's bring Jack up to speed on Chelsea and Anita - whom they hope to divide and conquer. When Jack wonders how they tracked Billy down, Vikki adds that Nikki asked Victor point blank - he denied any involvement.
Still at G-worm, Nikki gets a call from Victor. No - everything's NOT alright. You lied to my face (and met Anita at the ranch). Victor doesn't want to have this conversation over the phone (and will be home soon). Nikki accuses him of meddling in Vikki's marriage - again. Victor has his reasons - talk soon ~click~ Problem? Genevieve reappears. No - no problem, Victor smiles.
Adam could never be happy the way Hope was. She loved the solitude of the farm; being alone with her thoughts. Adam tortures himself with his. He CAN do this on his own. Hope wants him to be independent - but not alienated. Sharon's gone - and Adam won't call her back here. You won't have to, is Hope's last statement. On cue, Sharon returns. I had to come back - please don't be angry with me.
Arriving at G-worm, Billy's not surprised to find Nikki and Anita not there. But Vikki's dying to know Anita's story. Billy believes that Chelsea's been caught offguard by her feelings for this baby. Vikki sees the irony - the thing that finally releases Chelsea from her mother, is becoming a mother.
Anita returns to the Abbott home - and grabbing Chelsea's sandwich, updates that Nikki found her earring at Victor's. OMG! Billy and Vikki will be furious! Chelsea panics. No - relax - it's Victor's problem. Anita has it all under control - we have what they want - and they won't get it til they pay up.
Nikki's next stop is Jack's room - to gripe about Victor trying to rationalize his controlling, manipulative ways. This isn't new behavior - but she can't understand it. Does this have anything to do with Chelsea and her mother? Jack hits the nail on the head.
Victor wants to take the conversation somewhere more private - dinner in his suite? Gen thinks that'd be lovely - but there's no 'arrangement' to celebrate over bubbly. There will be once we're done the bottle, Victor oozes charm.
Bumping into Nick at CL's, Phyllis and comments on his quick trip to Kansas. Sharon had a nice visit with Faith, Nick reports. Phyllis is surprised that a mere visit is enough for Sharon. Adam's intensely depressed. He needs Sharon more than her kid needs her? Phyllis clearly disapproves. Nick points out that Faith has him - Adam has no one else. Are you kidding me? You feel bad for him? Phyllis sure doesn't. Adam has Sharon where he wants her - he's spinning his web and she'll never get out.
Miserable company or not, Sharon still came back - what does that tell Adam? I need you, he apologizes - and wants to live again - but can't without Sharon. I'm here, she gives him a teary hug.
Next: Do you usually conduct business this way? Offering a glass of bubbly, this is how Victor conducts business with Genevieve .. Our father is dying, Avery tells Phyllis .... Anita talks to Billy at G-worm; Victor doesn't think you're good enough for his daughter - but I think you might be perfect for mine.
My Thoughts: If Genevieve thought she was in a controlling, abusive relationship with Collin, hooking up with Victor will be even worse ... Go Nikki! Let's hope the spoilers are accurate - and she does NOT forgive Victor this time (cause really - how could he possibly rationalize his bold faced lie; on Valentine's Day no less). And if he's so deeply in love with Nikki, why is he entertaining another woman in his suite; complete with champagne and candle light? ... How could Sharon's visit with Faith possibly be 'really nice'? They were in a tiny airport - for all of 30 minutes. Sharon didn't even take her coat off (which is good - cause whatever she's wearing under her white turtleneck is creating some very unflattering bulges) ... Nick's gonna bring Faith to see Sharon 'whenever she wants'? How accommodating one can be when money's no object (and having no job enables Nick to travel whenever he wants) .... It IS nice to see that Nick and Sharon have put the animosity behind them; Sharon's no longer trying to force Nick to accept Adam in Faith's life (and in turn, Nick's more accepting of Sharon wanting to be with Adam) And I really don't get why Nick's now sympathetic toward's Adam's blindness. He was also legally blind when Nick punched him (on more than one occasion) ... I don't see why Anita's been given so much power in this situation. Why is Billy negotiating with her, instead of with Chelsea? Anita could only 'ruin' this baby's life IF Chelsea gives her that ability. Vikki brought up Billy buying Lucy - so she must realize she's setting herself for repeat heartbreak (especially since Billy mentioning that Chelsea seems to care about this baby) ... Yes - Adam tried to stop Patty - but he's also responsible for freeing her. She'd still be locked up if Adam hadn't played 'saviour'. Guess Sharon would feel pretty silly if she knew that. |
