At RS, Phyllis stands back to admire the large RS cover display (Satan's Understudy - hits the big time - the photo depicts Adam looking most devilish). Ricky marches over - you gave yourself FULL credit? Not even a nod for research? Why the hell would he let Phyllis get away with this!?

At home, Sharon puts the magazine aside to welcome Victor in with a kiss. He saw the article - you alright?

Paul's at CL's when he spots the latest copy of RS. Aww dammit, he sighs with utter dismay (without viewing anything but the cover).

Nick's dropped by Vikki's - to hear she's 'settling in' at her new job. Chelsea returns with a grocery bag - from which she pulls a copy of RS. This your brother? Quite the cover boy, she quips (as Vikki and Nick exchange a non too pleased look).

Jack's also reading RS when the maid answers the door and leads Adam over to him. Son of a .... JR's got a helluva lot of nerve showing up here.

Ending her call with Billy, Vikki tells Nick that Billy didn't know about the story (but isn't too upset because the reality producer is even more interested). Huh - so it's all Phyllis - Nick wonders why she changed her mind.

My name was supposed to be in here - you broke our deal, Ricky whines. Unapologetic, the editor in chief can do what she wants. Ricky gave her a blockbuster story and has nothing to show for it. Paul marches in to glare at both - either they have no idea the damage their causing - or just don't give a damn.

Sharon's numb - no wait - she's furious. Thank God Paul told her Adam was protecting Patty (so she didn't have to read it in RS). Victor hopes she realizes now that Adam's supposed change is manipulation. No - Sharon believes what happened in Kansas was real - but it doesn't excuse the terrible things Adam's done (to her, Paul and Jack). Victor's always been proud to have Sharon's kind and forgiving soul in the family (unlike Billy and Phyllis). Sharon's no RS fan - but Adam's actions have caused as much damage as Phyllis and Billy's words.

Adam DOES have nerve coming here - but he HAD to and isn't sure what to expect. Keep talking, Jack barks. Adam didn't bring Patty here, but neither did he turn her in. He tried to stop her - but here I am - and here you are. And as Adam expresses how 'truly sorry' he is, Jack hurls a trinket against the wall (to show what the apology means to him).

Adam's apology means 'squat' to Jack - he let a ticking time bomb go to zero (then came to his hospital room blaming Victor - saying they were in the same boat). Jack won't let Adam 'milk' his blindness. Adam's not dodging his responsibility - but Victor IS to blame. Jack sneers at the 'poor man's Victor Newman' (without the charm and intelligence). Evil mastermind? he scoffs - RS gives Adam too much credit. Huh? Adam's a bit behind on his reading. Jack shouts that he made the cover - again - this time as satan!

Arms folded, Phyllis made it clear that Adam's behind Patty being free - everything she's done since then is on his head. Paul doesn't blame her for hating Patty - she hurt Summer. MOST of his family is torn apart (Ricky the obvious exclusion). But - Patty's ill - it would break her heart too - if she understood what she's done. To see her exploited for ad dollars and magazine covers sickens Paul. He then turns on Ricky - it wasn't enough to run Heather out of town? He's gotta tear the family apart piece by piece? Yeah - we WILL talk about it outside - let's go. But first, Paul has a parting shot for Phyllis - she's as bad as Adam. You BOTH used Patty for your own good. Exchanging a look with Phyllis, Ricky follows Paul out.

RS in hand, Vikki talks about it going public - all the people Adam's hurt; Jack, Genevieve etc. He could have put a stop to it. Nick will check in with Sharon later - and Dad. He must be flipping out - more exposure - more scandal. Dad was just about to cut Adam a break - he hates being played. Vikki actually feels sorry for Victor - to know that he and Hope had a son like Adam. Chelsea listens. He's our father - no m what - that won't change, Nick states the obvious.

It's a public attack on the Newman family. Both Sharon and Victor were willing to give Adam the second chance he asked for. Sharon must accept that he inflicted a sick and dangerous woman on them all. He's a lost cause, Victor concludes - as they both reflect on 'wonderful times' (before RS) Sharon's ready for a new start - maybe Victor should be too. Yeah - maybe.

Jack reads the ending of the article aloud; rendered blind, Adam is Prince of matter indeed. No - Adam won't make a rebuttal - he came to make an apology. He thanks Jack for hearing him out and calls for help to the car. Kinda tough on the shins, Jack quips (when Adam bumps into a table). At least Adam can FEEL his - but at least Jack can see his bruises. Not replying, Adam leaves tail between his legs.

At G-worm, Victor asks Anita for a menu. Yeah - she's working - since her ship didn't come in (thanks to Billy - who can't be pried away from Vikki with a crowbar. Hmm Billy and a crow bar - interesting, Victor earns a smile from Anita (who then eyes Jeff - and is joined by Chelsea). I deserve to know why my father is - you owe me that.

Phyllis ends her call when Sharon arrives at RS. She won't defend her editorial decisions. Sharon doesn't appreciate being painted a patsy - but is glad the article came out - to remind her that cutting Adam out of her life (for good) is the right thing to do.

Only after Chelsea gets her head on straight, will Anita talk about her Daddy. Chelsea's thinking about her kid - try it some time. Anita demands she tear up the contract (giving her baby to the Abbott's). After Jeff comes over to ask about serving water, Chelsea snarls that she wants her kid as far away from the disgusting Anita as possible.

Arriving, Vikki spots and joins her father. I saw the article.

But who'll hold Adam's hand? Sharon's relieved to know how selfish and evil Adam is. It's over for good. Nick arrives - what's up? Sharon was just thanking Phyllis. Nick can see she's really OK with this - and is left to tell Phyllis that he didn't think she'd handle it this well. But why would Phyllis think they'd already talked about it 'a dozen times' already?

At the club, Paul calls Ricky on his lies (to him and the police) - saying he just got to Patty at the church (when he'd questioned her at length). All for a story? Really Ricky? Does he really hate his family that much? Paul's always had hope Patty would recover - but she won't in a maximum security prison (that lacks compassion and kindness). Adam's to blame - but Ricky (the 'journalist') wanted to make a name for himself (and money). Ricky claims it's not his fault that he knew the players in this story. Arriving, Adam's grabbed by the scruff. This is Paul Williams - about to knock you on your ass.

Back at RS, Nick accuses Phyllis of proving a point - by shoving him and Sharon together. She really didn't have to shove (then updates that she saw them all over each other). It was a hug, Nick explains that Sharon was having a bad day - sympathy. Is that why Phyllis ran the article? Because he was civil to Sharon? Phyllis won't stand by while he runs to rescue Sharon. Nick wonders if she's trying to protect what they have - or kill it?

Vikki knows Adam dragging their name through the mud isn't easy for Victor - but Phyllis ran the piece, not Billy. It's his magazine, Victor gathers that she stands by him. He lives to damage our family - to ruin their bond. Yes, Vikki accepted Genevieve's offer - and 'sick of it', leaves Victor to call Sharon (whom he has a proposition for)

You have every right to punch me, Adam tells Paul (who talks of all the time he's spent trying to bring his sister back to reality). But - because she'd be devastated by what she's done, there's no longer a place in this world for Patty. Because. Of. You. Paul punctuates each word with a finger jab to Adam's chest. Adam removes his glasses - I'm sorry - for her - the people she hurt. He hopes Patty gets help. He's paying for what he's done. Yeah - but he got off easy compared to Patty. Paul then leaves Adam to address the bartender (it's his lucky day - he gets to serve the town's most hated man). Chelsea looks over.

Sarge tells Jack that he's not on the schedule today. Feel free to ignore me. Removing his sweater, Jack's gonna practice maneuvering with the wooden board.

Now sweating - as he moves from wheelchair to chair, Jack's not there to talk. Looks like you wanna kill somebody, Sarge notes - channel that anger and you just might get somewhere. He sits to watch Jack struggle.

Paul rejoins Ricky - just to say he's leaving. Yeah, well, Adam's lucky Paul's a decent guy. He tries - knows he wasn't much of a father - doesn't know Ricky the way he should - but he's a grown man now (but not one Paul wants to get to know). Can't lose something you never had, Ricky's left to mutter.

You about to be a grandma? Jeff chats up Anita. Kids? He doesn't think so - and only just found out he has a fake tooth. A life of surprises is overrated. Anita then makes a beeline for Vikki - she has a say in what happens to Chelsea's baby. She could change her mind. Vikki doesn't think so - Chelsea's nothing like her mother. Anita's left to huff.

RS in hand, Chelsea puts it down (when chatting Adam up at the bar). She doesn't know anything about him being satan. She only reads about baby nutrition. Drink? She manages to get a laugh out of him.

Back at RS, Nick sits Phyllis down - to reassure her that there's nothing between him and Sharon. I'm crazy and irrational, a weepy Phyllis worries he'll leave her. No - it won't happen. He and Sharon share only children. Nick wants Phyllis - it was good - let us have it back.

Victor at her place, Sharon jokes - don't imagine this is another marriage proposal? ~hug~ It was fun while it lasted, Victor now talks about starting a new cosmetics line at NE (until he gets BofN back). Her being the face of it could be the fresh start they both want. Yes! Sharon accepts. But - she wouldn't be working with Victor - she'd be working with Nick. They'd be fantastic together.

Next: Phyllis would lose her mind, Sharon says. She's a petulant child - Victor doesn't give a damn what she thinks ... Why were you talking to Adam? Vikki confronts Chelsea. Because I know him, is the reply ... Phyllis, please - hand me the baby, Daisy implores. Can't you just let this baby be happy, Phyllis responds (Lucy in her arms, Daniel at her side).

My Thoughts: Why wouldn't Phyllis mention Ricky in the article? Wouldn't it be a big boost to mention the exclusive came from a member of her staff? That Ricky's Patty's nephew? Phyllis shouldn't get away with taking credit for Ricky's work - but what DOES he plan to do about it? Ruin her reputation (as an unethical journalist)? He knew she was shady when she hired him to hack into the magazine. RS can do without freelance writers anyway (since it only ever writes about the Newman's) ... Phyllis is a 'petulant child'? True or not, Victor hasn't earned the right to say it (since he never offered a sincere apology for his role in Summer almost dying) .. Ugh - is Phyllis really gonna go back to groveling over Nick? And are WE really gonna have to go back to this overplayed Nick/Sharon/Phyllis triangle? .... You'd think a staff member of the GCAC would come over to intercede - when a blind guy (who also happens to live there) is being assaulted by Paul (whether Adam deserves it is irrelevant). Imagine how pissed off Paul would be (at Phyllis) if he ever solved his own hit and run case .. Victor's ALWAYS been proud to have Sharon in the family? (even when she was stealing and promiscuous?) ... Paul came to see Billy at RS - but because he doesn't immediately see him, jumps to the conclusion that it's Phyllis and Ricky? He really IS a great detective!
