Charlie in her lap, Genevieve's ever so grateful to have been invited over by the kind Lily (who chortles that family's important). Shouldn't Ethan be home by now?
At Jabot, Cane has no info to verify the SEC's suspicions (about where Genevieve got her money). Reminded that he helped nail his father, Cane's handed a card - told to think about it - talk to his wife - get back to us.
Nikki joins Jack at G-worm - to ask about Kyle. Jack must respect his son's decision - give him some space. Nikki reiterates their plan to take things slow - for Kyle's sake.
Ow - Kyle sure is twisting the knife in Jack's gut, Phyllis hears that he's living with (and working for) Victor. Both she and Nick are eager to announce the baby - but the engagement should come first. Noah's 'congratulations' were 'reserved - but Faith's excited. That leaves Summer - but she's not home (so it's time to make out).
The Murphy's celebrating their three year anniversary, Jill joins them to say Kay's been in a much better mood since marrying Murphy. Her smile fades when Philip calls - what's wrong???
Phyllis is wearing Nick's ring on a chain around her neck - soon to go on her finger - for good this time. Oh the love - the baby - the marriage. Life is good.
Nikki's delighted to hear that Jack's meeting Sarge - hoping they can go back to physical therapy (instead of surgery). Good luck, Nikki leaves Jack beaming.
Philip blew his knee out, Jill updates the Murphy's that he's having surgery next week. Off to Australia, to make up for lost 'mothering' time, the Murphy's encourage Jill to go - they'll take care of the Baldwin's - and work can wait.
Cane home, Genevieve praises Lily managing the twins. And as she takes a call, Cane updates Lily that the SEC want to know about Genevieve's funding. Her problems are our problems *sigh*
Back at the tackhouse, Summer's sat down for the big announcement. Underwhelmed, she wonders if it's 'like forever'.
Assuming Murphy didn't make plans, Kay's made reservations. But wait - Murphy DOES have plans - which Kay will know about when they get there.
When Sarge joins him, Jack explains that he's decided against surgery - and wants to work with him again; promising to work harder - prove he's committed. Never mind the time he's lost, Jack's ready to take on whatever Sarge gives him - he will NOT quit. Whaddaya say?
Lily thinks it outrageous - that the SEC wants Cane to sell out his own mother. This isn't the same as Collin. Rejoining them, Genevieve never dreamt they'd drag Cane into this. He's not 'furious' - and didn't tell them anything. Genevieve's grateful Cane's protecting her (knowing there's a time he wouldn't have).
Back at G-worm, Sarge approves of Jack not having surgery. Jack explains his change of heart - the short cut is a risk he can't take. He WILL get back on his feet - with Sarge (who whines about juggling his schedule). He'll do it - but Jack will work until he's in intense pain. Jack's just happy to be working with 'don't call me Augustus' again.
Cane admits the SEC want to chat with him again - they think he knows something. You have no proof of wrongdoing, Genevieve points out. Arriving, Jill's not thrilled to find Genevieve there - this'll be a 'fun' afternoon', she sulks.
I feel like a fool, Kay barks (lead in wearing a blindfold). The blindfold removed, Kay's stunned to find herself in the diner. This is perfect! The place you proposed to me! Joe JR and Pearl lead the robust applause.
Nick and Phyllis finally convince Summer - who hugs her Mom. And when Nikki arrives, she wastes no time blabbing the wedding news. Oh my goodness, Nikki forces a smile - what a surprise.
Congratulations - but a nauseous Nikki can barely watch as Nick formally proposes - putting the ring on Phyllis' finger - then giving both her and Summer a kiss. Chocolate lava cake to celebrate is suggested - giving Nick a chance to catch Nikki rolling her eyes.
Seated at a booth, Kay praises Joe JR's divine Salisbury Steak. Pearl's so glad they're here - especially since Murphy could have sprung for something fancier. Pearl then drags Joe JR off for dessert - leave the love birds alone. The Murphy's are left to chuckle; some things never change. Kay's gift sure can't top this - but her smile is good enough for Murphy; oh how blessed he is to have her in his life.
As Jill fusses over Charlie, Genevieve talks of Ethan at the same age - nodding off as she read the newspaper to him (a trick Lily will try). Shown out, Genevieve thanks Cane for his loyalty - this will blow over soon ~hug~ When Cane comes back in, a slightly disapproving Jill notes that some things have changed around here.
Jill had no idea Cane had reconnected with Genevieve so completely. Yeah - she supposes Lily's right (that Genevieve should have a relationship with her son and grandkids). OK - Jill will never be fond of Genevieve but understands. She then updates that she's going to Australia to help Philip recuperate. And when Lily goes to tend to the twins, Jill tells Cane to take care - she can only worry about one son at a time ~hug~
Returning from dropping Summer off at the stables, Nick assures his concerned mother that marrying Phyllis is right - everything's been building to this moment.
Leaving with a handshake, Sarge will call Jack when they can resume therapy. Phyllis then takes his seat - sorry to hear about Kyle. Jack immediately notices her left hand - are you MARRYING Nick?
Again? Jill bumps into Genevieve on the patio (who's happy to hear Jill's leaving). Jill worries Gen's underhanded business dealings - putting herself first etc. will hurt Cane (and strongly advises her not to get too close to him). Oh, the audacity, Genevieve's left with her jaw on the floor.
Back at home, Lily advises Cane to tell the SEC the truth - stand your ground. If they have a strong enough case, they'll get Genevieve without his help. Lily at his side, Cane calls the SEC agent to say he has nothing more to offer ~click~
Nikki suggests Nick hold off on marriage - it's not like Phyllis is pregnant. OMG - really!? Yes - really - and Nick couldn't be happier (Nikki couldn't look more horrified).
With Jack, Phyllis 'turns green' when smelling fish being served at the next table. You're pregnant!? Shhh. Yes - yes, Phyllis admits - can you believe it - don't say anything. It's amazing - 'after what the doctor told us'. Kissing her hand, Jack declares it long overdue good news.
Joe JR and Pearl leave the diner to the Murphy's. Kay's been to many fine dining rooms - but this is her favourite. Putting some music on, they dance. The best is yet to be - for many years.
Next: What's the deal with you and my Dad? Vikki puts a guilty look on Sharon's face ... It's none of your business, Chelsea says. As of now it is, Victor corrects ... We can work through this - if you just give us a chance, Jack implores (at Jimmy's). Certain things you just can't talk yourself out of, Kyle replies.
My Thoughts: Why is Nikki so surprised that Jack's 'ready' for physical therapy? Wasn't he 'ready' when he quit? .... The ring on a chain is 'impeding' Nick's 'progress'? Sure must be a lot of carats if it's in his way ... Nikki sure didn't make any attempt to hide her opinion of Nick marrying Phyllis (not sure what she has against the bride - it's not like she's a fan of Sharon's) ... If family was so important, why has Genevieve been a mother to Cane 'in name only' - 'for a very long time'. Clearly, family is not important to HER .... Why would the SEC agent advise Cane to go home and talk to his wife? They don't know Lily's a paragon of virtue, do they? ... How is Jack and Nikki spending time at a public restaurant 'keeping their distance'? ... Yeah Summer - THIS marriage will be 'forever' *snicker* ... Why would Phyllis think Noah would be 'happy'? His life HAS been a roller coaster of marriages, divorces and remarriages. He knows 'til death do us part' is only temporary (so probably doesn't care) ... Philip doesn't have anyone closer to help him recuperate? Gee - I wonder how he blew his knee out - heh. Kinda gives new meaning to being 'down under' ... 'The slot was filled the second Jack pulled out'? Sounds like his love life - ba dum dum!
